It's pretty clear that the Establishment, in both of its wings, right and left, has taken the position, without ever actually thinking about it, that we cannot discriminate about who we let into this country based on group characteristics. The Establishment has internalized the idea the anything even vaguely "racist" is the worst evil possible -- even worse than murder, as AG Loretta Lynch recently informed us (in that anti-Muslim speech is apparently the "greatest fear" she worries about). But we act against groups all the time in foreign policy. If we slap tariffs on Chinese-made goods, we are not giving each Chinese manufacturer a due-process hearing to determine his guilt in the trade breach, or his level of personal support for the regime we're punishing. When we go to war with a country, we are declaring war on millions -- the great bulk of which are non-combatants, and many of whom, maybe almost half, would take personal satisfaction in seeing their leadership tried at the Hague. The 1965 Kennedy immigration act deliberately skewed immigration to favor the non-Western world, in a planned attempt to make America less white, and less Christian. When exactly did this particular political goal of the left become not only beloved by the left but by the the establishment right as well? There is no law that says we must accept a certain level of immigrants from, say, Libya. Well, there is a law, but it's merely that: a law pushed by Ted Kennedy to try to make America more multicultural. We can change that at any time we feel it doesn't serve our interests. I happen to believe it hasn't been serving our interests for a while. Yet the typical people scream "racism" when we come to any conclusion, beside Ted Kennedy's, about what our immigration policy should look like. The problem, then, is anyone "respectable" is filled with these stupid ideas transmitted uncritically like diseases from the Leftward Herd to the Rightward Herd, and the only sort of person capable of challenging the Herd Non-Thought of the enormously stupid, inaccurately-named "Elite" class must be someone who is, by nature, utterly disreputable. And then that gets us to the problem we're faced with, in which a man who is palpably unqualified by experience or temperament to be the president of the United States is simultaneously the only person of any prominence capable of brushing aside the cheap, insipid religious dogmas of our secular priestly castes and speak a (stupid, rude form of) the truth about things.

I mean, there has been an element of this kind of stuff in both Sunni and Shia islam forever. But it seems to be spreading, not receding.

I think there's some confusion about what the word "good" means.
Good writing doesn't mean hoity toity or confusing or using bug words. It means saying what you intend to mean and *not* being confusing or clumsy.
Rowling didn't stumble all over herself or get common phrases mixed up. And her vocabulary was never 300 words (except maybe when she was 20 months old). The only source I could find quickly was the sorcerer's stone, which had 6185 unique words.

Cut off Federal grants to any university that doesn't comply. Most universities derive the majority of their operating budgets from overheads on such grants.

Disagree. He's moving it for everybody by breaking trail; that's separate from engendering support (on which I am agnostic). But he's making Muslim immigration an issue for debate, which it wasn't before. That's a huge contribution, and reflects the Overton window shiftly wildly.
I think stating things crudely has some merit; a lengthy densely-worded position paper will get buried by the MSM. Blasting out a blunt tweet is impossible for them to bury. Plus, the news for the next day or so will be about Trump and his position on immigration, and what our policy should be on immigration. These are all good things, I think.

Based on what? I'm looking at positives and negatives in polling (which I admit is not terribly reliable). Both Clinton and Trump have very high negatives as well as leading positives within the primary.
Damn near zero Clinton/Sanders/Omalley supporters will vote for Trump.
Trump has to overcome the negatives, but his tactic so far has been "fuck the negatives," which shores up his positives but does nothing for the negatives.

My point was regardless of what we think is foolish, the result is all that Trump is going to care about.
And in that light, very little he's done has been foolish. Everything he's said or done has at a minimum kept him in the media spotlight.
His numbers are up and remain so. His unfavorables have gone down. He has led the pack when it comes to policy and voicing the concerns of the common citizen of the nation. Doesn't matter if what he's said he'd do may be difficult or illegal, it's what people want to hear. They're willing to go along with him because though he may not be able to get the things done he said he would, he at least understands what the common citizen is thinking about and why. And we're hoping that he'll come up with an answer that serves and not some namby pamby feel good position that does nothing.

They were GIVEN citizenship. They were not born here. Those who were GIVEN citizenship should absolutely be threatened with revocation if they interact with terrorists, provide monetary or other support to terrorists, etc.
That would be an easy enough law to pass. And then, sure, give them 'due process.' I don't have a problem with that. If they are found to be helping out terrorists or are terrorists themselves, no more citizenship, jettison them back to wherever they came from, never to be able to come back on any visa in any capacity. Ever.

We are currently doing a poor job of running a limited war in Syria and Iraq. A lot of that is being done from airbases in Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain and Turkey up north. Last I looked they were all Muslim countries. When Obama goes we are still going to want those airbases along with a lot of other support from Muslim countries if we plan on fighting ISIS and al Qaeda.

It seems to me that America has gone to great trouble and expense to recreate the days of the Indian Wars, only with imported Indians. Wasn't the constitution in effect in those days? Suppose you don't know for sure that he's a terrorist, or a leader of a drug cartel, or a financier of a subversive organization (yeah, I'm thinking of you, George), but strongly suspect it.
Still no problem? Then I can dial up more nebulous scenarios too. Suppose he's now back in the country temporarily, but heading out again before you can get a warrant.

The Donald is not my favorite person, but to give credit where credit is due, in the press conference I saw, his call to prevent Muslims to coming into the country had as much to do with the failure of the U.S. government to oversea who was coming into the country with the intent to do harm, than it did in condemning all Muslims.

As is often the case, Trump is exaggerating and talking bigger than is prudent. His suggestion is impractical and of questionable legality, and yet at the same time he brings up the point of "If the Muslims that have moved into the US and Europe aren't interested in assimilating into our society, and don't want to obey our laws, and have generated major problems in Europe, including security threats, then why the hell do we let them in?"
It's significant to note that this religious sub-group is not being singled out because of their religion, except to the extent that their claim as to what their religion is represents a threat to us?
Anyway, somehow I happened to actually be watching when Peters had his rant, and it was a bit of a shocker. Then it was really uncomfortable seeing him rebuked - several times, for the same thing - in an awkward way, and they asked him to apologize and he did. It just seemed wrong to see a good guy get treated like a school kid for saying something that was crude, but (I wouldn't say) vulgar. An over-reaction for a minor transgression, and they didn't have to do it on live TV.
