The latest cluster from Target is just too ripe a fruit [sic] to pass up - and I do lub me some 'low-hangin' fruit'. The decision to bring this stuff into the stores for sale was the first fault link in the Decision Chain. Everything else just followed nat'chly. This one was just too ripe to not snipe.

We have seen a lot of details about Target's marketing plans recently. But Dr_No is right. Clothes suggesting that transgenderism for toddlers is a great thing was just the beginning.

There was also the decision to hire a Satanist to design part of their 'Pride' line. Think this guy is attractive?

This photo was posted by a social media Friend (not sure how he achieved that status) who has a page where he posts weird, wacky, strange, odd and quirky memes, freakouts, laughs and fails.

He also posted an emoji suggested by Facebook, in response to a comment.

Jonathan Haidt wrote about a pretty convincing study connecting mental health of adults with the age at which they got smart phones as kids. There was a big increase in mental health problems as smart phones replaced flip phones.

When parents are asked to identify their top fears about the safety of their children, what do you think tops the list? According to a survey last year by Safehome.org, it's not cars, strangers, or any other physical threat; it's "internet/social media." That's not just for parents of teenagers and pre-teens, whose lives seem to revolve around their phones. It's even true for parents of younger kids, ages 7-9 because every parent sees it coming and few know what to do about it. Parents don't want their children to disappear into phones, as so many of their friends' children have; some resolve to wait until 8th grade, or later. Then their child hits them with the main argument that makes parents buckle: "But everyone else has a phone, so I'm being left out."
For parents who resisted, or who plan to resist, a new report may encourage many more parents to join you: Sapien Labs, which runs an ongoing global survey of mental health with nearly a million participants so far, released a "Rapid Report" today on a question they added in January asking young adults (those between ages 18 and 24): "At what age did you get your own smartphone or tablet (e.g. iPad) with Internet access that you could carry with you?"

There is a suggestion that age verification for social media accounts may be in order. Some people might think that the questions asked for this study were kind of intrusive. Below, some concerns along those lines:

Real World, Memorial Day Weekend

Have you got anything planned for this weekend in the Real World? Maybe even with a kid or two? This event was highly recommended on a Fresno radio station yesterday: The Avenue of the Flags is coming up on Memorial Day

The 60th Memorial Day Service of Remembrance, where more than 1,400 American Flags will be lined-up, is coming up this Monday at the Fresno Memorial Gardens to honor veterans for their sacrifice.
The event will have a musical performance by the Front Line Quartet as well the Fresno Stag and Thistle Pipe Band, with Bill and Janet Goodreau from Central Valley Honor Flight as guest speakers.

These events take some planning. There are others in our area. Are there community events planned near you?

16 I would have put this in the prayer list, but we seem to have moved on to a new thread. Thanks, KT I have a prayer request. Hopefully, it won't sound too silly. I am officiating at a worship service in a Senior care Center in a couple of hours. We just started this last month. Last month I inaugurated it by knocking over the tray of filled cups, for communion-after communion was over- so they'll remember me for that-if nothing else. Anyway, I would appreciate prayers that it all goes smoothly. I think it's important to have worship service at the Senior Care Center. No other Protestant clergy person does this, although I'm sure they visit parishioners there.

Those reports are deceptive. The "loss" was in its market cap, which only means that the cumulative value of its stock fell. The last week in the market was lousy and a lot of companies lost market cap, many in the billions, for reasons unrelated to boycotts.

There is no evidence that Target has lost anything in sales so far. Only its next quarterly report will give some indication as to whether its sales have taken a hit compared to the same quarter last year.

They have to start slashing money losing stores fast, but they don't have the nerve to face the magnitude of the problem.

These stories always go around but it’s never with context. So Target lost $9b if market cap. How did Best Buy and Costco and Walmart do during the same period of time? How much of that $9b was recouped? Was there other news related to Target? Was this specific to target or did all retail lose a lot?

I’m not saying this isn’t having an effect. I just don’t buy into these quick meme type “lost $9b” things that spread online.

It's crazy to me that these retail giants are taking this theft lying down. I worked in retail for too many years, and to make up a unit of shrinkage (stolen or damaged), it took 7-10 units sold, depending on relative margins, to make up for 1 unit. It's a massive loss.
I guess *some* of the loss is write off, but I still think theft must be crippling these operations.

Loss of stock value is largely based on the company's quarterly reports and what Wall Street has projected. Meeting or not meeting those expectations is the big mover. I assume these analysts see a lower quarterly report than what they projected.

Same place that crowd was when the gay activists were terrorizing people and churches in the early 2000s during the push for same-sex "marriage" and Prop 8 in California. And when the gay activists were terrorizing businesses which refused to support same sex "marriages" with cakes or pizza or photographs. I remember the campaign by the homosexual activists to destroy Memories Pizza over a small-town interview where the owners simply politely stated, in answer to a question, that they did not support same-sex "marriage". The activists went on their Yelp page and defaced it with 1-star ratings and added pornographic pictures and vulgarity to every "review".

What the "transgenders" and "Q+" activists are doing is nothing new. They are taking the playbook of the homosexual activists from the 2000s and applying it to their own agenda. And just like the homosexual activists bullied people into compliance to where everyone accepts them today and every institution and corporation supports them, same will happen here.

Did not see many of those when it came to the government telling Christians to not hold church services during the Plandemic. The one or two we did see try to defy the government were quickly arrested and made examples of. And it worked to prevent anyone else from trying the same. So, apparently, not many true Christians in this country.

Exactly. No company is marketing to "transgenders"... or any customer for that matter. They are marketing to their investors and potential investors. Just like the "customer" (electorate) does not matter anymore to politcians, since elections are fortified, the same holds true for corporations. The focus of corporations is to spread the agenda and message of their investors. And since every investor wants Marxism and LGBTQ+ and "climate change" and The Great Reset agenda items, that is what corporations will push.

The assumption (which I think is correct) is that the right-of-center boomer and gen-x generations are dying off or becoming minority in population of the country. And the millennials and gen-z majority are Marxist Left. Add in tens of millions of Marxist Left illegals and the country moving forward is center-left and quickly becoming Leftist. Add in the calculation that the majority of buying power in the economy is with Marxist Leftist women. This long-game strategy will likely work, after short-term negatives.
