Have you ever had a good pet costume experience? The 4-pound terrier loved listening to country music and trying new foods, said Gregory in the statement. Her wardrobe was studded with dozens of adorable outfits, including a festive pumpkin hat and a pink dress that were documented on the Instagram account. "It was our honor to have had the blessing to have had her as a pet, and family member," Gregory wrote. "There was never anyone who met Pebbles that didn't love her." "She will be deeply missed." Celebrated on October 16, Global Cat Day was created in 2001 by Alley Cat Allies to help keep cats everywhere safe from harm. That's GLOBAL cat day! Story Time A story from an unexpected source: A dachshund looks cute and cuddly until you see one yawn, and then you realize they're little furry alligators. My Mom used to keep rabbits; one day several dozen of them got loose. The family dachshund tore off after them, picking them up by the scruff of the neck and dropping them back in the main herd. The bunnies didn't make any efforts to avoid the dog and didn't seem fazed by being relocated. Having watched the same dog hunt mice, rats, squirrels, and other vermin, we were expecting rabbit confetti. Watching her gently herding the rabbits was a complete surprise. I have wished over the years of reading the pet thread that I had a petCongratulations on getting such a great cat. And your neighbor's dog looks fine, too! Looks like he's getting comfortable around you. Am I allowed to pour my heart out here? I rescued Lexi when she was 6 years old - Parsons Terrier mix. I have owned, adopted/rescued 12 dogs in my life, and never shied away from a dog in need. However, Lexi was the first dog I took in having zero knowledge of her history. She was loving, affectionate, attentive, and appreciative of my attention. But the poor thing didn't even know how to play with a toy, or climb steps. OK. No Problem. Unfortunately, after a lot of tests,I learned she had many environmental allergies -- maples, oaks, common grasses, mosquitoes --but also to many foods like brewer's yeast, fish, bison and turkey. Once I got her diet under control then I had to control her environment. I contracted with a company for mosquito control. After walking on grass she would lick her feet raw, so washing was critical, and she hated it.Brave Lexi, sweet Liz - I have tears in my eyes. How hard you both struggled. So glad Lexi is now at peace. Feel free to check back in to let us know how you are doing. Good morning - Things at House OCiS haven't slowed down any with the new kitten. While I named her Smudge, perhaps Chaos would have been more appropriate. Smudge is now 6 months old and is pictured here (left) with our other cat Houdini ( Dini for short) on the right. This was taken just after the kitty shelf was put up for them so they can watch the birds, deer, bear and other wildlife saunter by. When she was adopted they said she was a climber and they didn't lie. The dining room light fixture was swinging the other morning with Smudge looking intent on getting up into it. These two are constant entertainment and I'm sure they realize they won life's lottery taking up residence in House OCiS.Some kittie personalities are showing there. This is Sonar a 9 year old chihuahua. She is so darn sweet. Owner passed away. She spent about 4 weeks at a shelter and now she's at Shep's. This is another I could easily adopt! She was well taken care of so I doubt we will have her long. She loves to give doggy kisses. What a sweetie! Kroger came to us back in January as a return. The owners said that he was showing aggression despite being on Prozac. We worked to rehabilitate him for three months, weaned him off the Prozac (That he didn't need) and made him a happy dog. He was adopted out back in April. It was tough for us because we had bonded to him and he to us but we already had three dogs. Two months afterward, he was returned for showing aggression to a neighbor. He was sent to one of the best volunteers in our group. A quick investigation revealed that his new vet foolishly took him off his thyroid meds cold turkey. The volunteer worked on making him a happy dog again and while my wife and I were on vacation, she asked if we wanted him back. We'd lost our older dog back in July and we knew we could handle him. He's still a bit confused about things but he is happy to be back with us even if he's a bit suspicious about the camera. NR PaxWhat a beautiful animal! I wonder how our wacky Malinois Daisy would take to a costume. Weeks ago, SonM brought her a harness; she chewed through it in less than a half-hour.
Took Daisy to the groomers yesterday. Clean and sweet (for five minutes), and, most importantly, Puppy Scissortoes got de-weaponized. For now. Just now: Ony cat-Daisy dog standoff in the kitchen. Daisy lunging and doing play-bows, Ony just sitting there hissing. Just a few feet apart. This is progress. 😼 … 🐕 Posted by: mindful webworker - YouTube cancelled my YT channel at October 15, 2022 04:01 PM (dPyc1) 20

Panda dogs looked like black and white ewoks. I have never had a dog that ok with dress up. Perhaps one has to start them as a puppy and also a breed thing. Pugs seem to take costumes in stride judging my the # of pugs in costume pics back when I was on social media.

The once and future Stormy, who was a Kerry Blue Terrier and literally up for anything, -
hated the elf costume the lovely and occasionally wrong Mrs naturalfake got her for Christmas. She thought Stormy who always wanted to join in the fun at Christmas might like dressing up as an elf. Nope. The whole time she just stood there with her head down occasionally flashing me pitiful "Why am I being punished? What did I do?" looks. We got some pictures and then set her free. Bless you Liz and the other rescuers. I admire your patience and sacrifices for these rescue animals. As a flawed human, I greatly appreciate one can be loved in spite of one's flaws.
On a lighter note, we had a breakthrough day for our rescue dog, Luna, this week. In the weeks immediately after we adopted her last September, she had three aggressive reactions that made us hesitant to let her interact with other dogs. A brief visit with a trainer was not encouraging. Well, a year of love and security goes by and we found another trainer. The trainer brought one of her dogs and guess what? Luna was cordial, friendly, and perfectly normal. We have taken her to a dog-friendly brewery and, with other training sessions, are very optimistic that all of us can rejoin the world of people and dogs. This is a load off of both of our minds and truly an answer to prayer. Posted by: Art Rondelet of Malmsey at October 15, 2022 04:18 PM (fTtFy) 37

Costumes: The only cat I ever knew who not only held still for a costume but actively paraded around the living room in it was the late black cat Marie-Antoinette. Marie was super sweet and super smart as well, walking eagerly on a lead and recognizing her name even if it was spoken on TV. Miss Linda insisted on putting a princess costume on her, a short pink cape and a pink conical cap, and there is a pic extant of her walking around my living room wearing both.
In contrast, we tried the cape on big black Wolf, and he rolled on the floor and tried to get it off. I have a pic of Chekov D. Siberian stretched on the floor in a red-and-white "North Pole Elf" vest. It was snug, and I don't know how Linda got it on him, but he didn't tear it instantly off. I suppose that's a win. I haven't tried yet with Stirling the big black kitten, or with little Dagny the girl Siberian. He might be okay with it, and she might be young enough for it. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, dreaming of Elsewhere at October 15, 2022 04:20 PM (c6xtn) 40
As for Stirling the big black kitten, he is back from a quick vet visit today after his trip to the emergency clinic. Last week I had reported that he was sluggish. On Sunday he began straining and making frequent trips to the litter box. I'd seen the male blockage before, so I got him in quick. Turned out it was a UTI, not a real blockage, and 3 degrees of fever was knocking him out.
He came back home recovered except for a scrape showing pink on his nose and upper lip. The clinic was not open on weekends, so he went to his regular shop today. The tiny wound is already crusting over, and he is not pawing or rubbing at it, so he got a quick steroid shot. Now he's eating well (9.3 lbs at 7 months!) and playing. As Miss Linda said, "He's had a hard life." Yeah, right. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, dreaming of Elsewhere at October 15, 2022 04:25 PM (c6xtn) 41

I call greys the Lays potato chips of dogs. You can’t have just one! At one time, there were 8 greys in our household! I know it’s a med condition causing his aggression, but my experience in adopting/fostering upwards of 20, "aggressive grey" sounds like an oxymoron. There are just so sweet and gentle.
