The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

The Christians Who Mock Wokeness for a Living is yet another 'Gorillas In the Mist' excursion by our progressive betters, this time over at The Atlantic (the link is to archive.is) where author Emma Green ventures deep into the heart of Redlandia to make contact with strange and exotic aboriginal people who live way out in the untamed wild, far beyond the boundaries of civilization. In this case, it's Kyle Mann, editor-in-chief of the Babylon Bee.

Her plaintive cluelessness throughout the interview is alternately hilarious and pathetic. For example:

Green: You guys wrote an article in January 2020 that was shared roughly 3 million times, claiming that Democrats called for the American flag to be flown at half-staff when the Iranian general Qasem Soleimani was killed in an American strike.

What makes this funny? I know that’s the worst question to ask somebody who writes jokes.

Mann: It’s funny because General Soleimani died and then they called for flags to be flown at half-mast. Get it?

Green: But that’s what I’m saying. Besides just saying the joke again, what makes it funny?

Mann: Do you want me to explain the joke to you? Because the joke is that General Soleimani died and Democrats were sad.

If you don’t know why that’s funny, then you’re not the audience for the joke.

And this is just the beginning. Toward the end of the interview, I was almost feeling sorry for her. On the one hand, it's a big, hilarious self-own on the part of Ms. Green. On the other hand, you have to ask yourself, is she completely incapable of viewing the world from a perspective that's not her own? And Mann sounds like he was caught completely off guard by the sheer magnitude of her blockheadedness. Instead of going through a stepwise explanation of the joke, he can only tell her that if she doesn't get it, she doesn't get it. Later on, when she brings up another joke that has evidently gone completely over her head, Mann says "I’m not going to sit here and deconstruct and explain every joke to you." Like he was losing patience. And can you blame him?

The Atlantic is reputedly the in-flight magazine of the Smart Set™. Yet, thoughout the interview, it is obvious that Ms. Green has no idea who this rube-from-the-sticks Kyle Mann is, how he thinks, or why the Bee has a fan base. It's as if she's doing the interview with her left foot firmly planted in a wastebasket.

Meanwhile, for the benefit of Ms. Green and others, the Bee published this helpful explainer, Here Are 10 Babylon Bee Jokes Explained (Just In Case You Don't Get Them).

36 I went out of town this weekend. Yesterday, driving back I stopped to get some gas. Went in sans mask and a clerk at the front offered me a mask. I said, no I'm good thank you. 30 seconds later the manager came out and said if you don't put on a mask we will not serve you. So I said, cool, no problem and walked out.

Then drove across the street, went inside, nobody said shit. They got my $70 for gas (thanks Fuck Joe Biden for $4/gallon prices) of gas and $10 for snacks.

I can't really fault the manager, he was just doing what the tyrants in the govt tell him to do. But still, if enough people did that, the entire insanity would stop.

I have been watching these since last night. One of the ones on the link I posted had Groucho Marx! Also watched one of the Dean Martin get togethers (which seemed highly edited.)

One thing I noticed: The Dean Martin ones had lesser known comics. There were also more of them. Also, the banter was not as snappy from the younger guys. Came away noticing who seemed to have similar styles. Milton Berle and Don Rickles for example (although Rickles of course was more so.)

And the smoking. Damn.

Basically, if they laugh they've committed wrong think, and if they argue with the joke they know they sound stupid arguing with a joke. For example, if you laugh at the AoC joke you are a racist. If you argue she isn't dumb well...no one can argue that.

So...they pretend to not get it since it is the safer choice.

170 The death came despite Powell being fully vaccinated against the virus that causes COVID-19.

The original selling point of the clot shots was that "you can't get COVID if you've had the shot".

Recently the FNM has started to admit the clot shots do nothing to stop you from getting it, but they argue that it reduces severity.

The actual data says they do...for 4-6 months. And I've started to see some FNM outlets mentioned the "waning affects of the shots".

They *want* to then transition this then to forcing everyone to get boosters, but the smarter members of the junta/FNM know that if they do that now they will get massive non-compliance.

184 Adam West was a talented actor. When he read the pilot Batman script, he realized that the character was not to be presented as an adult man, but rather as a 13-year-old's *idea* of what an adult man would be. And he played Bruce Wayne and Batman that way.

I still dislike the campiness of the series. Even at 12 and 13, I didn't think that was the way to do a Batman series. But I have to admit West was perceptive.

Like I said pretty much King of the Hill except liberal. And guess what we learned? Liberals cannot bear even the slightest gentle ribbing of their beliefs even when they are cast as "the good guys"

To hell with you," rather than trying to justify himself by whining and saying "All civilized countries have parental live and it is a wonderful and joyous time to spend time with new babies." We were very happy that we had our son and it was a wonderful blessing , but his dad went back to work within three days after our son was born (Two of which were with me in the hospital) and I don't recall time with the baby being particularly joyous. It was mostly sheer exhaustion from a having a baby and nursing it and being up at all hours. FenSpouse carried the baby back and forth on the landing for hours because FenSon was colic. Therefore, I look at Pete B's comments with a rather jaundiced eye. They must have a lot of help

... no dummies, it is funny that you mourn the loss of a terrorist. Of course, Biden makes up for it by giving the terrorists Bagram and $85B in weaponry and our tech.

And shortly after bin Laden was killed, Seal Team Six had 15 (?) dead in a strange helicopter crash that killed 38. But allegedly none of them were on the raid. idk if there was any quid pro quo deal on that, but it is a popular conspiracy theory, and given Bagram surrender and China surrender and the DC cartel war on America ... it is not impossible.

They do mention it but really more in passing esp. in the headline.

Yeah it was the covid 19 which we all know republicans get and die from cause they're stewpid anti science.

They didn't press the point that Colin had late stage cancer and at 84 that in itself was a death knell. The secondary conditions that make covid more deadly all have to do with the immune system either being overwhelmed by a condition/disease or where the immune system is acting badly and is not doing it's job.

Keep your immune system healthy and well provided with nutrients and supplements and there shouldn't be any problems.

And don't forget to take your horse paste.

That's a distinction, but I don't think it is all that meaningful, and here's why. If a contractor (or, more likely, a whole bunch of contractors) are doing and not the NSA proper, that doesn't absolve the NSA or make them legitimate. These contractors are vetted by the NSA and/or its chieftans, and their activities within those databases are known or knowable. So the NSA proper either knows and enables it anyway (which is likely), or the NSA proper is playing "See no evil, say no evil" while loudly looking the other way.

Either way, that's on the NSA.

the breakout in cases seems to be among the vaccinated, even if they are somewhat less likely to die once they get it. BUT (from various reports) the vaccinated are also much more likely to be contagious while asymptomatic.

So Powell almost certainly was being very careful because of his comorbidities were rather severe. And he was probably hanging with masked and vaccinated people ... one of which "killed him" because they were vaccinated and covertly contagious. ...

I think it is even more allegorical than that (they don't have censorship as such but . . .)
You flirt with suicide you get the choice to live or die, and like walking on the edge of a cliff, you make a misstep you die and it is not your choice.
If you really don't care you are done.
If you care and make a mistake you are done.
The only way to survive is to decide to live and make no mistakes.
And people being people there are those you fear, those you hate and those you look to for support and hope you don't get betrayed.

Then again this might be talking more about me than a television show.

Yet, I know of nowhere that they are encouraging people to go get an antibody test. The narrative is "get the 'vaccine' or you will die or you will kill someone else!"
