There was much weeping and wailing gnashing of teeth about it in his tweet thread. But there seemed to be a disconnect between his words and his actions. If he really thinks his life is in danger, why doesn't he get the hell out of there? Joe Mannix commented: He doesn't really believe it. If he did, he wouldn't have penned a semi-literate article about it. He doesn't believe it for even one second. He's vice-signalling about his own purity in believing that dissidents should be silenced, imprisoned or murdered. But no overt threat has ever been made. Any threat exists only in his own mind. And nowhere else. The left works itself into a frenzy over stuff like this and then uses it as an excuse to call for the silencing, cancellation, and imprisonment of people with political views they disagree with. I'm revisiting this because I'm having a similar thing going on in my own life. Those of us in the leadership of my church are looking at the social deterioration and the increasing hostility against us by those who hold the reins of power have started to ask ourselves questions such as: what do we do if our pastor gets accused of hate speech? What our our legal options? What if someone succeeds in getting our bank account cancelled? What if a bunch of woke mob protestors show up one Sunday? Not that anything like this is happening yet. So far, we're a small enough church that we're pretty much flying under the radar. But this is all new territory for us; we're in the first stage of a threat assessment and while we can't predict the future, perhaps it would be prudent for us to come up with contingency plans based on a few broadly-defined scenarios that might possibly occur. Also this People's Rights site might be of help. It encourages you to ask yourself the this question: Who would you call right now if you needed help defending your rights against a government agency? And their answer is... your neighbors. Meaning, like-minded individuals in your area, who may be in the same situation. The site allows you reach out to them, meet up with them, develop support networks, etc. Having said this, I have to add a "caveat emptor" warning since I don't know much about this group and only have become aware of it through a friend who is involved. I don't think it costs anything to sign up. It might be worth looking into. I assume most of you morons have heard of The Alliance Defending Freedom. They advertise themselves as "the world’s largest legal organization committed to protecting religious freedom, free speech, marriage and family, parental rights, and the sanctity of life. We defend your most cherished liberties in Congress, state legislatures, and courtrooms across the country—all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary." This is the group that's taken on the various "bake the damn cake, bigot" cases that a number of Christian small businesses have been hit with. Well, they've started something new, the ADF Church Alliance, which provides churches with legal help should they find themselves on the wrong end of a religious freedom lawsuit. Yes, it costs, but they're up front with their pricing, which is based on church size. This is very much like the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) that would, for an annual fee, provide legal assistance to parents who found themselves being harassed by hostile school officials. So we're very much looking into the possibility of signing up with the ADF Church Alliance as one of things we can do to protect ourselves. And our congregation. Because not only can we as a church come under attack, but individual members might find themselves subjected to the fury of the woke mob, for whatever reason. Therefore, those of us in church leadership need to figure out what we can do so our congregants can be confident we have their back. "We'll pray for you" isn't good enough. That's kind of like the progressive pantywaist complaining about a neighbor's flag on social media and that's as far as his 'activism' goes. We need to learn how to devote time, money, energy, and whatever other resources are necessary to support our members against the woke crybullies and thugs that would do them harm. We can't leave them twisting in the wind. I'll Bet This Was Stunning AND Brave: Is This Really Feasible? Who Dis: Photo 2 Photo 3 Photo 4 (leggy!) Photo 5 Photo 6 (busty?) But in her early days, she did get to appear in a serious movie, The Road to Glory, with top-tier "A"-lister Fredric March. The gas-powered equipment to be banned uses small off-road engines, a broad category that includes generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers and even golf carts.
Under the new law these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they'll have to be battery-powered or plug-in. Ahh, yes, mandate that generators plug into the same grid that's blown by weather events, so that when a storm knocks out your main power, it kills your back-up power too. I'll give them credit. Most countries just accept the larger emissions that come from unintended consequences from their mandates. CA just plans to kill people. Green New Leap Forward, here we come! And that's good enough to call down a SWAT team and have someone arrested. But if you claim a religious exemption over the vax, oh no no no no no! We have strict standards for that! You need to show documentation that you REALLY are what you say you are. And you have to present the credentials of the religious leaders who have authorized you to claim a religious exemption. It all has to be documented, and any hint of uncertainty will be seized upon to deny you. Catholics have already been thrown under the bus by Pope Shitty, so no point trying to get any support from church leaders there. I suppose the monkey didn't read my rebuttal of Mannix' remarks. I'll try and paraphrase it here. Why doesn't he move?
It's simple. He knows that Democrats are the strong horse, and he knows that if he can rally the media on his side, they will attempt to forcibly remove his neighbor from his house and put in someone with the "In Progressive America, we believe" signs exactly like him. It's a sneaky, underhanded tactic to colonize any stretch of land that isn't occupied by commies, forcibly take it over BAMN, then fortify it so that normal people never want to step foot in it again. That's what they did to California, NY, Virginia, and Colorado, and you're fooling yourself if you think they won't try this tactic on every single county in every single state. Rule 1 of the Left: THEY ALWAYS BELIEVE IT. Now do you understand the meaning of "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice EVERYWHERE?" It's a totalitarian slogan, adopted to the micro-level. Global middle finger to Christianity.
Okay. So you hate Christians and think their churches and organizations should be forcibly disassembled and the theology in all its variants purged from the contemporary human experience. Fine. Now we understand the terms. So the question, then, is this: what will you use to replace it? Faith is a human necessity. Even if you don't like Christianity, it does actually have to be *something* or your civilization will die and its remnants will be vanquished by people with stronger faith structures. So what's your bid to replace it? Because you do have to replace it. If you don't, you're going to become Muslims (probably, absent a spoiler). If that happens, you mewling little fuckers won't be wearing your cool little backwards baseball caps and showing off your tits in tight little spaghetti-strap tops. You'll be in flowing robes and kneeling to Mecca five times a day assuming you're not just murdered in eternal Jihad. So make your choice, dunces. What's it gonna be? Peaceful, productive Christianity or barbaric and oppressive Islam or other? If other, define it. Now. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at October 15, 2021 10:27 AM (DU+/6) 50

QR codes were an early pandemic staple in restaurants, cafes and bars; a necessary irritant to help customers emerge from COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns. Yet, as establishments increase capacities in many cities, they are growing deeply unpopular with diners, FSR Magazine reports, and also impacting the bottom line. Guests have grown increasingly irritated by having to squint to navigate food and beverage selections. The writer found businesses that revert to paper menus often witness a sales increase - along with a rise in guest satisfaction.

Joe - that's the entire point of what you're seeing now. The "Left" - although they're about as Left as I'm a porn star - is acting ENTIRELY on faith. Faith in a particular form of government and a view of basic human nature that I'm pretty sure is completely flawed. They're not giving the middle finger to "faith". They're giving the middle finger to a competing faith. And they know that, in their gut, even if they can't articulate it. Posted by: Working for Peanuts at October 15, 2021 10:29 AM (P6+is) 69

One of the frustrating things about RLM is their knowledge of film history is actually pretty shallow.
For instance, their three part ranking of John Carpenter's films. John Carpenter was heavily, heavily influenced by Howard Hawks, especially Rio Bravo, and they never mention either Hawks or the film. Does this matter? Well, they talk about the influence of Romero on Assault on Precinct 13 but not Rio Bravo. It feels like an incomplete discussion. It also popped up when talking about Big Trouble in Little China with Jay saying, "The characters talk like they're in a 40s movie." Well, they talk like they're in a very specific 40s movie, His Girl Friday, directed by Hawks. Meh...Film nerd problems. Who would you call right now if you needed help defending your rights against a government agency?
Tremendously important. As OM has pointed out - build that network. For the most part, the legal and financial professions have been compromised. We really have to do our homework regarding who will be simpatico. As an American citizen and patriot, I can't believe we are even having to consider these scenarios. As so many of us have opined, I never thought I'd see this come to pass. Posted by: Notorious BFD at October 15, 2021 10:32 AM (Xrfse) 79
Good ideas on joining a national legal defense group that specializes in (and cares about) the assault on churches. United We Stand ...
how to make sure those groups are not mostly scam? idk, I guess it would help if they have a longer history of Doing Good. Sidney Powell seems capable and on the front lines for the 1/6 political prisoners. We need to build our own internet companies I guess, or at least our own banks, our own America First stores ... while we figure out how to get elected officials to represent their electorate. A Church Rights group could quickly become more powerful than the NRA, I would think. Just make sure to have regional HQs in deep red states, not commie strongholds.

And it's because deep down they don't really consider anything but Christianity to be a serious religion. The rest are just sparkly ornaments worn by exotic foreigners. Look at Canada - official public events are frequently escorted by native Indians beating drums and chanting as they process around, even though their culture is pretty insignificant in the development of Canada. There is nothing more absolute than the certainty of change. That is the Left's belief system.
The Left's pantheon is like those old warrior societies where they constantly declare new tests to weed out and kill off anyone who isn't pure Left enough, and then use the remaining warriors as elders to impose their dictats around the nation. That's why nearly every Democrat politician stays as far left as possible. They know they can easily be replaced with someone more bloodthirsty, more doctrinaire, more ruthless than them. They know the names of every "activist" society who can crush their re-election campaigns with a flick of the wrist. The Right needs to learn this from the Left if they want to win. Regarding that "middle fingers to end religion" event, I wonder if anyone who supports that really has thought through what it means to believe that religions are wrong. I have thought about it a lot over the past 18 months, to the point that I have lost my Christian faith.
I won't go into the details as to how and why, but will only share that anyone who truly has come to the conclusion that religions are false also understands that there is no afterlife. And to truly let that sink in... is terrifying. We are taught in all religions that there is an afterlife of some sort. But if all religions are wrong, then that means there is no afterlife. And I don't think anyone can comprehend of what it means to no longer exist, to no longer be conscious of our existence. We comfort ourselves thinking that everyone from family and friends and even our pets go on to some "afterlife". And we alleviate our fear of our own death by believing in an afterlife. Where we will continue on. But if all that is a lie... terrifying. Posted by: Tall Cool Gentleman in a Black Suit at October 15, 2021 10:39 AM (Do5/p) 130

My husband sent two guys to St. Louis for a 2+ week job, and they rented an Airbnb. When they arrived, the neighborhood was not as advertised, and the house across the street had police cars and a coroner's van parked in front.
So the guys went to dinner to discuss the situation, returned to the Airbnb, and another house up the street had police cars in front of it. They moved to a hotel for the night and found another Airbnb the next day. One guy is a former cop, and the other guy a former USAF drone pilot. And they carry. So there's that. The problem with Leftism-as-faith, though, is that it isn't up to the task. It's a poor, failed faith. It has no rules. The basis of any successful faith system is immutable, absolute rules. Leftism doesn't have that.
Leftism is highly successful - as an agent of destruction. Now, you can argue it won't last - but that's not the point. Leftism has proven to be incredibly resilient and effective. The problem with Leftism as a faith - for those that don't subscribe - is that it's both Fundamentalist and Evangelical. It tolerates no deviation from doctrine, and it never stops trying to convert all non-believers. It's Southern Baptists and Jehovah's Witnesses all rolled into one. "When it gets real"- so, today I learned Loudon County Schools covered up multiple rapes, including a gang rape via forcible penetration with objects, to enact their preferred and completely harmless policy of having deviants use women's restrooms. Also, Andrew McCabe "settled" with the Biden DOJ, the IG report detailing his extensive wrongdoing is withdrawn and he gets all benefits. A Yale Law School student was harassed and intimidated for a party invitation *but really just for being a conservative) via multiple Mao-ish "struggle sessions. Finally, a conservative MP was stabbed to death in GB. Let me know when it gets real.

Those retro old school advertisements are often Photoshops.
Now it is true, the past is a different place, and there are plenty of genuine or authentic vintage advertisements that were bizarre and humorous or "sexist" and the rest of it. But the ease of image manipulation means we kind of have to drill down on something before we accept it as genuine. On a related note, remember a few years ago when one of the usual suspects came out, completely appropos of nothing and said we, the benighted public need to be suspicious of any video purporting to show bad stuff, it might not be real and you wouldn't be able to know the difference? Dovetails with the neighbors thing but I've seen a lot of families being torn apart by politics and covid and such, and I've come to one conclusion:
Groups only exist in harmony when they're aligned on either goals or viewpoints. These groups can be anything from family units to corporate teams. Given the state of things today, being related has become an arbitrary measure of connection. Thankfully, my family is full of likeminded individuals so I've avoided much unpleasantness. But increasingly, the aim of the left to destroy the family is working, forcing us all to reconsider who our family really is. Posted by: TrivialPursuer--F*ck Joe Biden at October 15, 2021 10:31 AM (k4dH2) I've heard Shatner talk about Takei in an interview. "I don't even know the guy". He explained how ST filming worked. He'd come in and do his lines and that took awhile because he was one of the principal actors and Takei would come in for, like, maybe one day and do his lines, it was never very many, and the two actors barely saw each other. Jesus said have faith. He said have more faith. He said, "Without faith, you can do nothing". Christianity recognizes the importance of faith. The problem with Leftism as a faith - for those that don't subscribe - is that it's both Fundamentalist and Evangelical.
It also popped up when talking about Big Trouble in Little China with Jay saying, "The characters talk like they're in a 40s movie." They're very compact and don't require their own space like a laundry room. The upside is all of that. The downsides are the "all-in-one" problem along with the requisite engineering complexity, and the fact that with one machine your effective laundry throughput goes down (you can't run a load of wash, move it to the dryer, and start the next load of wash).

The Left's pantheon is like those old warrior societies where they constantly declare new tests to weed out and kill off anyone who isn't pure Left enough, and then use the remaining warriors as elders to impose their dictats around the nation. ... The Right needs to learn this from the Left if they want to win. Posted by: Homer's Donuts at October 15, 2021 10:39 AM (HK8/E) Nah bro. The marine did seem a little unstable maybe, though rightly outraged. Kash Patel agreed with the arrest, saying they have to maintain order, and pursue other established paths for lodging complaints. Kinda makes sense, but after a compromised command structure gives away a few more bases, and a few hundred billion more in weaponry to the enemy ... we may need more than going through a five year path of lodging complaints, when the ChinaBiden team plan to end US in three years. One thought I have (gleaned from both my work life and those that I observe being effective against the woke mob) is to create a playbook with scripts. Being prepared means more than having a group of supporters. One needs to know what to say to various folks that might try to intimidate--and its different depending on whether they represent legal authority or are "neighbors". Just my 2 cents.
