from the last thread:
But that's still compensated eminent domain. The "public use" in this case being rather flimsy, hence the lawsuit. But, if the government grabbing stuff is the issue, it would seem uncompensated situations like bond cram downs and outright property gnofing without reasonable judicial restraint in property forfeiture cases would be the place to draw the line in the sand. But again, not my battle. Posted by: Laurie David's Cervix at January 19, 2016 10:59 AM (kdS6q) If you look at some of the takings they have done on Long Island you would not call it "compensated". In one case I saw they paid a guy $20,000 for a one acre lot with 150 foot of water frontage. Of course he sued. In Kelo they took the property to give it to someone else who was a crony. And then it was never used. It was outright theft and blatantly unconstitutional, Posted by: Vic-we have no party at January 19, 2016 11:07 AM (t2KH5) 51

I recently watched 'Mexico's Secret Drug War' which is a British made documentary on operation Fast & Furious. The whistleblowers and retired agents of FBI, ATF, and the main gun dealer in AZ talk about the operation and the corruption and lies coming out of this administration about what was really going on. The gun dealer who thought that he was helping his country by fighting against the drug cartels put it this way - "I learned quickly that there is a big difference between serving your country or serving your government. I would gladly die to serve my country - I wouldn't walk across the street for my government." Posted by: Cheri at January 19, 2016 11:20 AM (oiNtH) 111

He wore a green aviation type of uniform that did not match any of the Type III uniforms worn by the other sailors. There was an ID patch his left side and no rank insignia. He had a tattoo on his right arm that appeared to be a dagger. He appeared older than the others and didn't interact like the others. He did not smile and laugh like the other sailors did. He was not in the photos where the other sailors were captured on their knees. I'm curious if he was actually a part of the CORIVRON I crew? DIA? Or perhaps he was not captured with the CORIVRON crew, but was previously captured by the Iranians and covertly returned to the U.S. with the others? So many questions. No, not really, There's a whole contingent of lefties that identify with the evangelical church that have been causing for trouble for a few decades.
Late 19th and early 20th century socialist activism came largely from these sort of churches; the social gospel. They were the ones that pushed for welfare, social security, shorter work week, minimum wage, ban on alcohol, etc. It was all based on enforcing morality using government power with a few Bible verses thrown in to justify it. Re: SCOTUS reviewing Obama's immigration orders
Subject to the standing issue, this is an easy case to affirm. For DAPA, Obama didn't issue an executive order or even an executive action. He had the head of DHS issue a memorandum that created an entire new regulatory regime. Put aside that this new regime is in conflict with existing law. Jeh Johnson's doing this didn't comply with the Administrative Procedure Act. It's clearly wrong. As to standing, if 26 states don't have standing here then no one does. Every year they come up with more empty headed crap and more and more often I ask myself, why am I still here?
My denomination, the Christian Reformed Church, is doing the same thing. Every organization that does not constantly and consciously work to avoid going leftward, eventually will. The sin of mankind corrupts all we do. Basically, the most enthusiastic and loudest, rudest, and most insistent lefties end up taking over position after position and arguing from emotion and good will rather than truth and reality, until their opponents die or give up. Eventually, even though the church I attend is very faithful, I'll have to leave the denomination if it keeps along the path is is on now: being led by culture rather than being salt and light. When I grew up, the church I attended (and other like it) were heavily invested in legalism. Following outward rules even if they made no sense. For instance, we couldn't go to movies, because movies were worldly. I remember really really wanting to go see "The Sound of Music" when it first came out. Of course, I was not allowed to go, because someone might see me going into a movie theater. I am glad those days are largely behind us, and we focus on the heart and our love for God more than rules and regulations. And btw, now I go to church in a movie theater. Irony. George Bernard Shaw was an asshole. He pretended to be a friend to Gene Tunney, World Heavyweight Champ in the Twenties, so that he could potentially use Tunney as a character study for one of his plays. Tunney thought of Shaw as a father figure, and was flattered the famous playwright would take him seriously. Truth is, Shaw didn't. Shaw was just curious in a kind of cold, scientific way howa working classkid of a longshoreman like Tunney could make himself a millionaire with only an eighth grade education and his.fists. Like I said, an asshole. Posted by: troyriser at January 19, 2016 11:50 AM (OGbEB) 272

Remember that according to Christ, a prayer in a closet is more his style than praying in the street to show off your piety. You don't need a formal denomination, as long as you read the book and believe. I gave up searching for one after not being able to find anything that particularly appealed to me in my locality, but I don't think that's made me a raging heretic. Posted by: ThisBeingMilt at January 19, 2016 12:16 PM (MbrzC) Most of the speculation I've seen about his announcement today is it's an Iowa endorsement. I think she'd be effective for that but there's not much of a chance she gets the VP nod. Although if she does I'd like to hear Max Rockatansky's take on what liberal policies she'll be spearheading and where exactly he expects her to headfake and doublecross the conservatives who voted for her. the S(ampersand)W M1917 revolver had a ridge in the chamber to allow .45ACP to index on the case mouth. A lot of S(ampersand)W revolvers had that feature. I think it originally had to do with making sure the .38 longs wouldn't blow up the .38 short revolvers
Steel cased ammo could peen that rim down and cause some issues by restricting the chamber. Also, you really did want to use the half- or full-moon clips because if the fired cases expanded like they were supposed to you wound up having to poke the brass out with a stick. Meh.
I think "The Canadian" argument against Cruz only works for people who have never been in the military. When I was in, I knew plenty of guys (and a couple of gals), who had gotten married to a foreign national while they were overseas, and who had a baby while serving overseas. So, you're going to tell people who served their country in the military, that their kid can't be president because the kiddo happened to be born while they were serving overseas? Nope, not gonna happen FYNQ. I'm sure that's why they started the one parent rule in the first place. So as not to decitizenize the children of soldiers. Not Cruz' case but the principle is the same legally. Posted by: naturalfake at January 19, 2016 12:21 PM (0cMkb) 424
