But that's still compensated eminent domain. The "public use" in this case being rather flimsy, hence the lawsuit.
But,
if the government grabbing stuff is the issue, it would seem
uncompensated situations like bond cram downs and outright property
gnofing without reasonable judicial restraint in property forfeiture

you look at some of the takings they have done on Long Island you would
not call it "compensated". In one case I saw they paid a guy $20,000
for a one acre lot with 150 foot of water frontage. Of course he sued.
In
Kelo they took the property to give it to someone else who was a crony.
And then it was never used. It was outright theft and blatantly
unconstitutional,

I recently watched 'Mexico's Secret Drug War' which is a British made documentary on operation Fast & Furious. The whistleblowers and retired agents of FBI, ATF, and the main gun dealer in AZ talk about the operation and the corruption and lies coming out of this administration about what was really going on.
The gun dealer who thought that he was helping his country by fighting against the drug cartels put it this way -

I would deem that when you pay someone $20,000 for land that you are taking and it is really worth multiple millions it is uncompensated. And if I am not mistaken the judge agreed and stuck the government with paying what the real estate estimates said it was worth.
And as I said, KELO undermined private property which is the keystone to freedom. We lost the US that day they ruled.

It is upsetting, but on the plus side you get to see these heroes defending all the people who worked there, the acting is good and there are a number of good looking men. :^) Also, there's some unexpected humor. No, not really, There's a whole contingent of lefties that identify with the evangelical church that have been causing for trouble for a few decades. A lot of them come out of the Quakers/Friends section and push a heavy pacifist line, which means anti-military.
Jim Wallis, Ron Sider, and Tony Campolo are three names that come to mind. But my knowledge is somewhat dated, so I don't think I know who the major players are in the lefty evangelical world these days.

I would deem that when you pay someone $20,000 for land that you are taking and it is really worth multiple millions it is uncompensated. And if I am not mistaken the judge agreed and stuck the government with paying what the real estate estimates said it was worth.

He wore a green aviation type of uniform that did not match any of the Type III uniforms worn by the other sailors. There was an ID patch his left side and no rank insignia. He had a tattoo on his right arm that appeared to be a dagger. He appeared older than the others and didn't interact like the others.
He did not smile and laugh like the other sailors did. He was not in the photos where the other sailors were captured on their knees.
I'm curious if he was actually a part of the CORIVRON I crew? DIA? Or perhaps he was not captured with the CORIVRON crew, but was previously captured by the Iranians and covertly returned to the U.S. with the others?

Late 19th and early 20th century socialist activism came largely from these sort of churches; the social gospel. They were the ones that pushed for welfare, social security, shorter work week, minimum wage, ban on alcohol, etc. It was all based on enforcing morality using government power with a few Bible verses thrown in to justify it.

Subject to the standing issue, this is an easy case to affirm. For DAPA, Obama didn't issue an executive order or even an executive action. He had the head of DHS issue a memorandum that created an entire new regulatory regime. Put aside that this new regime is in conflict with existing law. Jeh Johnson's doing this didn't comply with the Administrative Procedure Act. It's clearly wrong.
As to standing, if 26 states don't have standing here then no one does.

My denomination, the Christian Reformed Church, is doing the same thing. Every organization that does not constantly and consciously work to avoid going leftward, eventually will. The sin of mankind corrupts all we do. Basically, the most enthusiastic and loudest, rudest, and most insistent lefties end up taking over position after position and arguing from emotion and good will rather than truth and reality, until their opponents die or give up.
Eventually, even though the church I attend is very faithful, I'll have to leave the denomination if it keeps along the path is is on now: being led by culture rather than being salt and light.

Had a guy at work yesterday, a potential problem child who came close to being ejected, who was talking to somebody on his ear loop thingie and to me at the same time. I ignored him every time he directed words at me. Finally he got exasperated and said 'did you hear me?' I said nothing. He quit yapping and asked me 'did you hear me? I said 'oh, I figured you were talking to that other person, not me.' I really get tired of explaining the concept of 'good manners' to people.

Me, too. I never thought she was perfect or above criticism, but she was a breath of fresh air after an entire lifetime of having female politicians like Hillary Clinton pushed on me as the ultimate representative of women. She is a woman who has embraced and enjoyed being a woman, not a harpy intent on being a better man than male politicians. She is a happy, normal person who is comfortable in her own skin. I remember applying to Wheaton College, then getting their packet in the mail. There was a pledge you had to sign - no movies, no holding hands on campus, of course no smoking or drinking, no playing cards, no dancing - all that kind of stuff. I didn't sign it and threw the application away. Not that I planned on doing any of those things. I just didn't want somebody to tell me I had no choice.

Calvin College had a pledge similar to that, although less restrictive, up until a few years before I attended. The dorm dances had to submit their playlist to a board for approval (with lyrics), which I didn't see as a problem personally. It was, then at least, a conservative Christian college, why let kids dance to foul crap?

Very typical now.... speed limit 65... three lanes on each side of the Freeway.... Truck speed limit 55 (DUMB)... trucks taking up TWO lanes at about 62 MPH...
And in the fast lane.... you have a big SUV driving a fluctuating speed between 60 and 70... and once you get around them, by dodging trucks...
Its an overweight Hispanic clutching the steering wheel with a death grip...
And now that we are finally getting some RAIN??? Trying to get anywhere really sucks right now...

Looks to be a lose-lose to me. The SCOTASS already declared barky's first "Executive law" order for illegals to be illegal and for him to stop and all he did was ramp it up. And nothing happened to him. SO I can't see how any other decisions coming out of the SCOTASS can have any good effect.
Further, knowing this, the SCOTASS is more than likely to decide in Barky's favor so as to not embarrass themselves with him spitting in their face, again.

I think it really depends on who is the endorser. For the most part, endorsements do not really matter. But there are a select few who do. Obama's matters - though in a negative way. Palin's seem to matter - as Cruz himself knows.

I think "The Canadian" argument against Cruz only works for people who have never been in the military.
When I was in, I knew plenty of guys (and a couple of gals), who had gotten married to a foreign national while they were overseas, and who had a baby while serving overseas.
So, you're going to tell people who served their country in the military,
that their kid can't be president because the kiddo happened to be born while they were serving overseas?
Nope, not gonna happen

Now that you mention it, I realize that I haven't read Dorothy Sayer's religious writings. I've read ( and adored) her Lord Peter Whimsey series of mysteries, but I haven't read her serious works. I believe she left off writing fiction because she felt a greater calling.

No -- don't think so. The "natural born citizen" issue is constitutional. Issues of military dependency, and other citizenship matters, are an issue of statue law.
Congress could pass a law tomorrow saying foreign born military dependents aren't citizens and that's that.
