Posted by: Nevergiveup at January 14, 2016 06:42 AM (gf8BH) It is yet one more shocking, and sobering piece of evidence that the party is not stupid, but outright collaborating with and a part of the Leviathan. They are so unhinged (that word) that they are not going to decide 2016 and that Trump or Cruz is actually going to try and stop their gravy train that it's patently obvious to anyone with eyes to see. My tea leaves say that the country achieved 'peak stupid' at some time during that period. That people are finally looking at each other and saying, 'that was really dumb'. Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) abruptly ordered Wednesdays vote closed after the allotted 15 minutes on legislation to prevent the Obama administration from lifting sanctions on Iranian entities unless it certifies they aren't involved with terrorism or the country's ballistic missile program. As a result, more than 130 lawmakers missed the vote, which was gaveled down when the tally hit 191-106, and the vote was vacated. As a result of Wednesdays tardiness problem, the House likely wont vote on the legislation until after the Iran sanctions are already starting to be lifted. Coulter says the argument for Cruz being eligible would have made Obama eligible even if he was born in Kenya ... so why was that a big kerfuffle?
But the constitution is flexible now ... so President Cruz would be the second president not "natural born" American. Of course Cruz is more American in spirit than Obama ever was, and his father's history is rather the opposite of Obama's father. Cruz is a real constitutional lawyer, Obama wrote at eighth grade level till his books by Ayers revealed an incredible change. The Establishment will warm to Cruz to knock of Trump, then they'll bring their own lawsuit and declare him ineligible by originalist (true) interpretation. heh ... strange days ahead Posted by: Illiniwek at January 14, 2016 07:09 AM (5Gpe2) 65

as well as Al Quada would more accurately be described as Sunni which is they are fighting the Shiite controlled malitias who are backed by Shiite Iran...but they all hate us Posted by: Nevergiveup at January 14, 2016 07:15 AM (gf8BH) Assad's people are Alawites, a third group that's a minority distinct to Syria, and hated by both. I don't think the fate of the country rests on the shoulders of Donald Trump-"Put not your trust in princes, in mortal in whom there is no hope". I think the fate of the country rests in the hands of God, as does the fate of all other countries. Do I think Trump could be God's chosen instrument for whatever God wants to do? Yes, but so could Barack Obama.

Bridget Johnson at PJ Media makes a very cogent observation about the Navy situation.
The Obama administration said today that no apology was made to Iran over the two U.S. boats that Tehran said drifted into territorial waters, insisting that video showing one of the captured sailors apologizing must have been made under duress. Yet at the same time, the administration claimed that the encounter wasn't hostile and the sailors were treated well. Hmmm -- duress, wasn't hostile, treated well One of these is not like the other two. Posted by: GnuBreed at January 14, 2016 07:24 AM (gyKtp) 93

Opinions are not facts. Here is the WaPo article that disagrees and offers another "reading", which you can wave away if you like. http://tinyurl.com/zx8695n The WaPo article and Coulter (anncoulter.com) and others give solid rebuke to your opinions. Mostly it comes down to the British common law stuff, and whether "natural born" can be decisively understood. Many say it can't but the two I mentioned demonstrate it to be pretty clear. Whether SCOTUS would go "originalist" at this point is not clear, it seems. It's not nothing ... Democrats would likely challenge in court, as they suggested even before Trump. BART police investigating the weekend killing of a passenger on a train in Oakland have no onboard video of the crime, even though the transit agency had what appear to be surveillance cameras just feet from where the suspect shot the victim at close range, The Chronicle has learned. Although all BART cars have what look like cameras mounted to their ceilings, the vast majority of the devices are decoys incapable of capturing footage, BART officials conceded Wednesday. And some of the actual cameras are broken, two police sources said. The Rams are packing up and moving to The West Coast, from whence they came. Good riddance, on so many levels. The NFL doesn't really do anything for a city's bottom line. (8 home games a year mean a bunch of VERY part time jobs.) All the big revenue is in licensing and TV revenue, none of which makes it to the street. "Levin has laid this out very clearly, easily and concisely. Laurence Tribe is a douche. And not a fan of Coulter."
Well Levin can offer another opinion ... you said "ALL readings", and the WaPo link I gave is more studious than most I've seen. I haven't seen the rebuttals to those more originalist views that think "natural born" is on the soil AND subject to our laws (making Obama illegal I think, since his Daddy was Kenyan, which took precedence perhaps). So in that sense I suppose Obama set the precedent, but maybe only because those lawsuits were thwarted by the king and the princes. this links to Professor Jacobson long work on why Cruz is legal, and a comment on why he is not, and why Obama was not. This quote is from an old definition (Vattel) of "natural born" that was likely used by the founders. Statute cannot change that original intent, only an amendment. "I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country." http://tinyurl.com/ha9h9bs anyway ... it seems there is too much interest in just hand waving this away. Cruz as an originalist prefers to ignore the original on this. And that may be why he didn't think the anchor baby thing could be changed by statute. But I'm just trying to muddle through the opinions loaded with bias. I was for Walker, now Cruz or Trump. Posted by: Illiniwek at January 14, 2016 07:59 AM (5Gpe2) 155

A month or so ago, someone posted Rickman died and I went and looked it up. Dont know if it was by error or an aoshq joke. Anyway, I was always surprise to find out Rickman was straight. He met his wife when they were teens and had been together ever since. They only got married a few years ago and I wonder if his illness had something to do with it. He was a big Rachel Corrie fan ad produced some stupid play about her.

Rickman also played Snape in the H.Potter films. He was a great actor. I remember his role in one of the numerous Robin Hood incarnations. He played a wonderfully depraved Sheriff of Nottingham. As Robin and his merry band of progressives closes in, Rickman quips to one of the "maids" lounging around his court: "Meet me in my chambers at once. AND BRING A FRIEND!!"
Posted by: Brave Sir Robin at January 14, 2016 08:09 AM (5buP8) 175
Yeah, Obama was born to a Kenyan and IIRC has Keynan and British citizenship - as well as US citizenship assuming that he was born in Hawaii (law at the time of his birth and the age of his mother dictated that if he was born outside the US he was not a citizen). The "proof" we were eventually offered was a pdf file of a possibly photoshopped image.
People asking the same questions were called birthers and dismissed. People trying to challenge it in court were told they had no standing. Now that it's Cruz, who's mother was at an age under existing law to confer citizenship no matter where he was born, it's suddenly a serious question to consider? Give me a break - the ship sailed on Vattel's definition about 8 years ago. Posted by: lymond at January 14, 2016 08:12 AM (koywJ) 176

"Give me a break - the ship sailed on Vattel's definition about 8 years ago."
well, in practice yes, and I guess Obama could be sited as "he got away with it" But we know the rules are different for them, than "us". "The INA is very clear about who is considered an American citizen at birth. Cruz was. This debate is so exceptionally silly that I will never comment on it again." yeah well no one questions if he was conferred citizenship at birth by statute, but rather whether that meets the natural born (Vattel and other precedent) definition. People waving it off as "silly" don't answer the WaPo or Coulter or other arguments. "Maybe Trump is doing him a favor in the long run by doing all of this now." Trump is doing it for his own gain, but yeah, I think it would be better to "deal with it" now. But dealing with it so far means ignoring it by Cruz fans, and chastising those that read the more studied opinions. I'm more concerned about it from the anchor baby perspective, that a statute could indeed be all that's needed to change that. Posted by: Illiniwek at January 14, 2016 08:34 AM (5Gpe2) 244

Alan Rickman in Die Hard, Quigley Down Under, Harry Potter movies, Robin Hood, Galaxy Quest, and others. All effective and fun roles. Had no idea he was that old. If he was a lefty, at least he didn't scream it all over the place. (Cough, Streisand, cough). Saw him in a couple of interviews and he came across as a pleasant and humorous guy. I'll miss him.

What is it with the writers at the Federalist?
Today, via Hot Air, Mark Hemmingway writes an article about the documentary "Making a Murderer". Instead of actually watching the series, this idiot forms an opinion based on how other documentaries were edited. How do the writers at the Federalist get through the doors with egos swollen so far. I don't know if this bumpkin has a British accent, like the insufferable twit Charles CW Cooke, but he certainly acts like it when he concludes his article with lines like: "Studios aren't going to stop bankrolling specious documentaries like Making a Murderer anytime soon". "Specious documentaries"? This guy hasn't even watched it. And this closer... "Unfortunately, the only real truth to be found in many of these documentaries is that people don't mind being lied to if you tell them what they want to hear". Is he saying that people want to believe that local police are willing to plant evidence and lie to the court to get someone convicted? I wouldn't mind if this article came out of one of the left wing sites, but these are our writers. What they say and write reflects on our side. Wouldn't it be nice if our "paid thinkers" actually watched a documentary before declaring it all lies? Fuck. Posted by: jwest at January 14, 2016 08:43 AM (Zs4uk) 273

Via Insty: Upset GOP Donors Wonder if they have wasted their money http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/265647- upset-op-donors-have-we-wasted-our-money You know, I think the Our Betters realized their program of endless illegal immigration, destroying the Middle Class, endless muslim violence here at home, etc, etc- was not popular. And they realized that GOP voters were tired of being lied to (Helloooo Rubio!) and treated like suckers. That's why they went with the shall we say, unique solution- of having Jeb! tell us straight up that he wasn't going to do what the voters wanted- and then contributing over $100 million to power Jeb! through the primaries with his Glorious Message of Fuck You Voters(TM). Since then they've tried the same thing with Rubio, Christie, Kasich the Postman's Boy, as well as Jeb! These people are not as smart as they think they are, not by a long shot. But, I also expect that they've hired the best writers available to give their choices the best attempted kill shot sound bites against Trump and Cruz. It'll be interesting if infuriating TV. Blogger Bookworm's cousin, a prison chaplain, explained it well (forgive me for posting this again): "It is not a contradiction to be a Muslim and a murderer, even a mass murderer. That is one reason why criminals 'convert' to Islam in prison. They don't convert at all; they similarly remain the angry judgmental vicious beings they always have been. I watched all the episodes of The Making, and there is no doubt they had an agenda. Just to open your eyes a bit more, Daily Mail has an interview with Avery's first girlfriend, and she has some very harsh things to say about him and the documentarians. I don't have the link handy. Posted by: GnuBreed at January 14, 2016 08:59 AM (gyKtp) I'm under no illusion that the film makers leaned towards innocent and they left out certain details, but after researching all the counter claims, I'm convinced that the nephew, Brendan, should be released immediately based on the way the confession was obtained and the total lack of evidence. The big question is what to do with Steven Avery. I believe that if we are going to have a country of laws, he should get either a new trial or be released. We cannot allow police and the DA to plant evidence, even if he did kill the girl. Better to let one murderer free than to give the authorities the ability to frame whoever they want. Speaking of the Navy, it seems that we can't build ships as well or as quickly as those antique shipbuilders did in WW II, although payoffs, incompetently prepared specs, and crony contractors might just play a part!

I was hospitalized for a week with pneumonia back in Oct., '12. Took me six months to finally feel like I got over it.
The same thing happened to me back in '013. They didn't tell me that I was being treated for Legionaire's disease whilst they were pumping me full of antibiotics IV. That stuff managed to kill a lot of my intestinal flora and made my life miserable until I finally figured out what happened. Yogurt fixed it, sorta. May the schwartz be with youuuuu... Vashta Nerada: Of the 350 terrorist attacks worldwide over the past 12 months, 348 were initiated by mohammedans.
Notably, one of the remaining two attacks was carried out by the Kurdish underground. The other was perpetrated by a woman supporter of a leftist group in Turkey. Posted by: Chupacabra Read the reviews and see how many times "empowerment" and "gender roles" gets mentioned. Posted by: Laurie David's Cervix I saw it as a boko haram thing. Empowerment against African islam with child warriors and abducting "wives". Not western womans' plight. As an action movie it was groundbreaking. The amount of non-CGI was great to see. A return to some serious stunt work. And the cinematography was also new. You probably didn't notice it but every shot put the main character center frame. This made it much easier to follow the very complicated sequences and kept them from becoming a jumbled mess. Plus, all the vehicles in the film were hand built from junked vehicles and ran - at high speeds. That in itself is pretty remarkable. Posted by: Dang at January 14, 2016 09:46 AM (2oWD2) 484
I am probably one of the few people who enjoyed Dogma. The 'stars' were meh, but the co-stars really enjoyed themselves and the incoherent religious stuff was fun and really worked. Smug Metatron was Rickman at his best.

Posted by: ThisBeingMilt Yes, even Tom Hardy couldn't save it. Posted by: Sherry McEvil He was part of the problem. Bland, no real screen presence, slurred every line worse than his turn as Bane. Posted by: Insomniac - Pale Horse/Death 2016 at January 14, 2016 09:30 AM (kpqmD) Just saw it last night. I happen to love Tom Hardy and didn't enjoy his performance, but I didn't find it distractingly bad. He wasn't loathesome enough but he WAS dangerous, and I think it worked. Inaritu and his magical realism are fantastic. The movie was a succession of paintings, and the presence of the natural world throughout was pretty cool. I also happen to believe Native Americans are the most with-it people, spiritually, in the history of mankind, without the corollary that we don't deserve to live here, and enjoyed seeing a plain, direct portrayal of them without heavy editorializing. The scene where Leo's bison-munching friend built a fire in a hurricane may have been my favorite scene. Mostly I'm glad I live in a house. George Takai did commercials for of all things, the Milwaukee County Transit System back in the late 1970's. He wore his Star Trek uniform and said, "When I'm in space, I travel on the USS Enterprise. When I'm in Milwaukee, I ride the bus!" Uh, yeah, sure. That was before any of the movies came out - Sulu must have been really desperate for work. Although Shatner does a commercial for a local ambulance chaser now and you'd think he'd have enough money. Yes, Actors can change the world, but not in the way that Rickman seems to think of it, and I don't know any actors who go into it because they want to change the world. They like performing in good roles in good plays; If they're quite successful they enjoy the money.
However, this Christian drama ministry has as its mission to help renew the culture and they present works about Christ and the Saints or famous religious figures. Their newsletter occasionally says something like "Your drama on John Vianney helped me to discern a calling to the priesthood" or "Watching St Faustina helped me to seek forgiveness from God. and renew my spiritual life" So, is that changing the world?-well, yes, at least a little part of it in small way. >>I loved Mad Max, and didn't think it was an SJW screed at all.
IIRC, Eve Enseler of "The Vagina Monologues" fame was a consultant on the film to make sure it had a feminists tone. While I didn't find the movie particularly feminists, other than, you know, Mad Max needing to be saved/partnered by Charlize's character, I'm betting that there was a whole feminists subtext in there around women owning their own fertility/breaking free from the (warlord) patriarchy blah blah blah that I'm just not attuned to (thankfully). I see the nominations as an endorsement of this conscious bowing to feminists by the director. The U.S. Navy is spending millions of dollars to repair new high-speed transport ships built by Austal Ltd. because their weak bows can't stand buffeting from high seas, according to the Pentagon's chief weapons tester.
--- You know it's one thing to have to work though some bugs in a new engine or some electronics system or something like that, it's a whole other thing if the builder couldn't even get the fucking bow to hold up to high seas. That said sounds like it's not actually the builder here... but that they built exactly what the Navy asked them to build. Builder: You're aware these changes will cause bow problems right? Navy: Maybe, but we can always fix that latter under some different budget authority, for now do as we say so that we fix our current issues. Builder: ok, but in the end this is all going to be more expensive then if you just had us build it right from the get go.. Navy: I don't think you understand how things work here... just build it as we say, we'll deal with later, later. Builder: err... ok. Posted by: ThisBeingMilt at January 14, 2016 09:53 AM (MbrzC) 496

Shatner does a one-man show talking about his life and impeding mortality, too.
Think he's just staying busy, and will show up anywhere you pay him to. A lot of it probably comes from when he was on hard times and was completely busted living in a little trailer by the river. ...Why are muslims ...
They do not follow the tenets of their professed religion. Therefore they punish themselves and blame others. The tenets of their professed religion are also punishment (raping, killing, oppressing, being holier than thou). That is why muslims are willing to convert to Christianity and be killed. Being killed is better than being muslim to most of humanity. Posted by: hard ass at January 14, 2016 10:03 AM (Bbcs8) 504
"Agreed, but, the Blue Collar Worker/Small Business owner, often one and the same have gotten beaten into a deep deep hole by this administrations policies and economy. Sooner or later people do vote their self interest. "
The problem is the Blue Collar/ Small Business owner demographic is not big enough to overcome the FSA. The freeloaders also vote in their own self interest: "Gimme more stuff!" Then there's all the Dem women who think the most important issue of all time is abortion and matters concerning their vajayjays. It's more important than the economy, foreign affairs, corruption, taxes - all revolves around their magic pooters. They think they're voting their self-interest too. Because they're dumber than sticks of gum. Posted by: Donna and V. (sans ampersands at the present moment) at January 14, 2016 10:08 AM (u0lmX) 505
