Teacher: Maria, go to the map and find North America.
Maria: Here it is!
Teacher: Correct. Now class, who discovered America?
Class: Maria!
Teacher: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor?
John: You told me to do it without using tables.
Teacher: Glenn, how do you spell "Crocodile?"
Glenn: K R O K O D I A L
Teacher: No, that's incorrect.
Glenn: Maybe it's incorrect, but you asked me how I spell it.
Teacher: Clyde, your composition on "My Dog" is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his?
Clyde: No, teacher, it's the same dog.
Teacher: Now Simon, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?
Simon: No, I don't have to, my Mom is a good cook.
Cause them dumocrats here are sure loving raising taxes so much they have done it twice in just a month now.

When I was laid off for almost 5 years, I went to school to better my situation and get to the point I could make a decient living. I went to being a single mom and making barely poverty level. Now I'm at a point where I make decient money and might be able to save enough to retire someday, and the Demonrats want to tax me to death and finance giveaway programs with my money! I guess even though I was a registered Democrat during those years, I was behaving like a Republican, because I never even took so much as a food stamp from the government!

NO, no, there's no need for a 401K. Instead, just depend on the government to send you a check. THere's no need to save for it, they'll just send it to you.
Hillary Care's line is already forming -- in Massachusetts. Romney's recent forced insurance has literally got people lining up all over the place for their "free" government insurance -- because if they don't get insurance by year's end, the government will arrest them and throw them in jail!

So why are working people taxed at 43% (28% earned income tax and 15% social security payroll tax) while rich people are taxed just 15% rate ONLY on capital gains (ie, stocks they sold; unrealized capital gains are not taxed?).
Republicans been settin' the tax rates since 1994 ... at least Dems are trying to make taxes more fair to working people.

Not true. There's plenty of opportunity to make taxes fair. There's not more than two politicians in Washington that have ANY desire to make them fair at all.

I don't know where you get your information about what counts as "rich" but a Wall Street Journal columnist has done fairly good investigative reporting on this subject:

Wow. Maybe you are meatbrain in disguise. You sure are having a LOT of trouble reading what I'm typing. I'll try one more time as well:
You claimed that Democrats were working to make taxes more fair in response to the picture at the top.
I said that isn't true -- there are plenty of ways to make taxes honestly fair, but there's only about 2 people in all of Washington DC that are interested in making taxes fair. The Democrat Party is NOT one of them.

I was trying to settle one point: the current tax system taxes working people 43% (only on incomes below $90,000) and rich people 15% (capital gains) -- do you think the current system is fair?
My understanding is that Democrats have proposed replacing the AMT with a small tax increase on incomes over $200,000.
What's wrong with that?
Posted by: The Tax Man at November 11, 2007 11:15 PM (O0YsD)
17
Because it's unfair -- it very clearly punishes people who are successful. That's just wrong to those who support freedom.

Ok, but if we leave things "as is", doesn't the current tax system very clearly punish people who must work for a living?

Yes, the editorial cartoon implies that Democrats are taking aim at the apple but will probably clobber the Middle Class with tax increases.
So I cited a simple example where Middle Class people will receive a tax break when the AMT is abolished and wealthy people (incomes over $200,00/year) will see a slight increase.
I don't know everything that's going on in Congress, but at least as far as AMT goes, the Democratic proposal does seem to target tax breaks for the Middle Class (just the opposite of what your cartoon portrays.)
But have you read a single thing I've posted here? (e.g., "Ok, but if we leave things "as is", doesn't the current tax system very clearly punish people who must work for a living?")
I'm just trying to get your views on some specific issues I've investigated a little bit, rather than platitudes or slogans like "tax and Spend Democrats" without any supporting documentation. (I think you have mentioned elsewhere that Republican politicians spend just as much, or more, than Democratic politicians)
The impression (so far) is that you feel it's OK to tax incomes less than $90,000 at a rate of 43%, while wealthy people pay only about 1/3 as much -- only 15% of their income.
Please let me know how you feel about this inequity (perhaps I missed something). A simple answer to my question might clear up everything and then I'd know where you stand on income/wealth inequality in America .
Maybe we say at some point "Aha! This is where our differences are, and there's no point trying to reconcile that issue any further.
Like abortion -- one either thinks life begins at first breath or life begins at conception. These are gut-level (religious) beliefs and there is no point to debate them any further. Better to discuss a different issue to see if there is any common agreement, or if it boils down to something we can only agree to disagree on that issue.
Or, we might discover that we actually agree on something (like the 3-state solution in Iraq).

I consider this the greatest shame the MSM has in our country. By refusing to publish items like this mayor's statement of gratitude, they deny thousands of families and loved ones of the fallen heros in Iraq, the satisfaction of knowing their soldier, sailor, airmen or marine's sacrifice is honored by the Iraqi people that they have fought for. This story is for those people who think the people of North Carolina have any freedom at all. It's just beyond comprehension to someone who wants a country that is based on freedom. Apparently, at least in North Carolina, if someone milks a cow, you're not allow to buy that milk from them. Yes, the North Carolina government actually had discussions about your right to buy milk from someone. Wow.
But to show even more insanity, did you know there are "Raw milk activists?" Holy crap. I just seriously cannot imagine what planet these Democrats live on. They actually believe it is dangerous and that it's their job to STOP people from buying milk from a cow. I'm speechless. Just holy crap.
Even worse, there's actually an underground economy for milk! Seriously, if you want to buy raw milk, you have to act like a drug dealer and make secret deals in the night! How incredibly insane is this?
Un-freakin-believable. I wonder how soon before they make it illegal to even DRINK milk in North Carolina. Go ahead, try and convince me you have any freedom in this state. Give it a shot.

Here you have to be registered to sell it and then people have to sign up with you to buy it special. But, once you drink raw milk, you won't ever want store-bought milk again!

I do imagine it comes down to the FDA stuff.
Cleanliness of equippment, temperature of product, processing methods, etc... all the things Corporate Dairy farms have to comply with. I remember going out in the country to buy fresh eggs from a farmer and fresh sweet corn too.
Wonder if the "Corporate Farmer Lobby" will be all over that too? Soon we will all have to have a license to sit down and eat in a resturant, maybe even a "gathering permit".

But sure, the government claim that we're too dumb to drink raw milk and we'll all die if we do, so therefore they have to stop us. Since before pasturation, after all, everyone who drank milk did die, you know. Well, according to government, anyway.

Allowing him to finish school online could have opened the door to allowing other students to take a high number of courses online, reducing the need and benefits of a regular school setting, the board decided.
In other words, their STATED purpose is to put students in a "regular" school setting. They honestly have no interest in education. They don't care about high school diplomas. They honestly do not care if someone learns anything. Instead, their ONLY purpose, according to the school board itself, is to put students in a "regular school setting."
If someone were interested in education and learning, they would have said something along the lines of, "Gee, we'd like this fellow to get an education, and we're willing to work with him and his family to ensure that he gets one." But no, instead they said they ONLY wanted students. They want warm bodies in seats because that's where they get more cash. Nothing else matters to the public school system in America. Seriously.
If your child is in a public school in America, keep in mind those who are "Educating" them are only interested in them as a body to get them cash. The system seriously does not care if they learn one single thing.
1
But don't you think that its important for children to go to school and learn how to socialize with peers and function in a society? I met most of my friends in school and had some of my fondest childhood memories took place there. I learned how to interact with people, deal with problems, and work hard, and I feel like my experience is typical. Is this not worth our tax dollars? Despite the issues you have with greedy officials and with the quality of the education, doesn't a child benefit from being around children his own age?
Posted by: Brian at November 01, 2007 09:35 PM (fzGw8)
Why should children be limited to only associating with people who are their same chronological age -- and not with people who are their intellectual peers and/or mental peers? Why should we limit children to only one speed in classrooms, artificially teaching smarter children to slow down and NOT work?
Children very clearly DO NOT benefit from only being around children their own age. Every last person that I have met that has been homeschooled, I can tell in an instant. The children who are not forced into a public school are able to interact with people of ALL ages, not just their own -- and they've learned to work hard at their maximum capacity, instead of the state-mandated minimum capacity.

I think you would do well to go to a high school football game. Look at the team, who have probably played together for ten or twelve years, and see the brotherhood that they share. Look at the band, and see how hard they work at what they do. The rest of the student body at the game, enjoying life forming relationships. These are experiences that are difficult to replicate with home schooling. Isn't it easier to make friends with people your own age. I have had a different experience with people who are home schooled. I find them to be sheltered and less social than most.
Posted by: Brian at November 01, 2007 10:16 PM (fzGw8)
4
I see the "brotherhood" shared by forced segregation by age. I see the dumbing down and holding back of students because they don't want to "offend" any other student who's dumb.
And without a single exception, every homeschooled person I've ever met has had an easier time talking to people not of their age. In fact, there's been various studies done that show homeschooled children are MORE socially adept than those who have been forced into a public school.
The relationships from sporting and other events are incredibly easy to recreate because of various recreation departments. In the area I live there are over 90,000 kids who are homeschooled. They have their own football league. They have tons of activities -- many, many more physical activities than public schools could ever dream of.

What would you reccommend for families where both parents need to during the day, or single parent homes. How could they provide a good education on their own?
Posted by: Brian at November 02, 2007 05:57 PM (fzGw8)
6
In the home where both parents work, I would suggest they get a less material-focused lifestyle so that one can work and the other can stay home. I'm willing to bet in nearly all those cases, they are working to pay for a lot of luxuries they don't truly need. Having children should require sacrifice. Those who don't want to sacrifice their lifestyle at all for their children are being very selfish.
To those who are single parents, I suggest not becoming a single parent. I realize that sometimes it is through no fault of their own, but often it is through personal choice. And even when stuck as a single parent, I'd suggest finding their own family. Everyone has parents. If families were a lot stronger, they could stay together and raise their children.
Finally, if government completely got out of education, there were be TONS of opportunities for children to get educated. Even now there's co-ops and church organizations. If government got out of the way, I'd open a school tomorrow myself. And many, many more churches and organizations would open up educational institutions.

I'm adding this. when kids paricipate in YMCA sports, many times they are able to participate on teams in some of the private schools, like church schools, YOu have lots of different sports going on outside the realm of public school in every communuity. I do know many home schooling parents utilize the sports teams at private schools by enrolling their kids in after school care on the days they will be practicing with the team. I used to work in a church school daycare when my son was going to the school. There was a huge spirit of cooporation between the home schoolers and the Christian private schools and those kids didn't miss anything. I worked in after school care when I was a single Mom in order to get half price tuition for my son and took night classes at the local University. It wasn't easy, but it was doable. In many ways, I felt the home schooled kids adapted better socially than the private school kids. Go figure.

It's because the home school kids learn to deal with different types of people and different aged people while public school kids ONLY learn how to act with others of their own age -- usually without adult supervision.

So, did you know that you have a "civil right" to force other people to speak any language you want? No, really. If you speak to someone in a language, any language at all, and they do not speak to you in that very same language, they are violating your civil rights. At least that's what immigrant advocacy groups are claiming in New York.
Among the list of slimy, scummy, bastards who are claiming this (not in small part to get free cash, of course) are:
Nisha Agarwal, a bottom-feeder lawyer.
Andrew Friedman, an executive director of "Make the Road New York (crappier)".
New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (that's "public" as in "not you").
New York Immigration Coalition (lawyers opposed to laws).
Oh, and by the way? These pharmacies already produce labels in 14 or more languages and have interpreters who speak 150 languages. But according the the slimy bastards (lawyers) that's just not good enough.
Two poster children whined that they were scared because they couldn't read the labels on medicine. Learn English you miserable S.O.B! If you can't speak English in America, I do feel sorry for you. But when you claim that everyone else in the country should adapt to YOU and spend hundreds of billions because YOU don't want to learn the language of the country, it's YOU that are the problem. YOU are the miserable, selfish bastard, not anyone else.
And any judge that lets complete BS lawsuits like this continue based on "civil rights" deserves to be disbarred and fired on the spot. I'm not holding my breath, because to do that would require some sort of freedom -- like the freedom to speak any language I want. Apparently I no longer have that freedom in America, either.
(H/T to Raven).

Great news! The North Carolina Biotechnology Center is expanding! Hooray. So what is this center? It's called "a private, non-profit corporation." Of course in today's newspeak, what that really means is that it's a government front group. Seriously.
Here's how it works: the Democrats in the North Carolina Legislature create a "corporation." They register it as "non-profit." They make it "private." Then they appoint their friends (or even themselves) on the board that runs the corporation. Since it's "private," no one is allowed to see the records of the "corporation." Then they pass laws providing the funding for the "private non-profit corporation." And yes, they often draw personal salaries from these "corporations."
So in North Carolina, when you see "private, non-profit corporation" what that really means is "a company that the Democrats in the Legislature use to launder taxpayer cash to their personal pocketbooks." And again, since they're private, no one is allowed to see their records. And since they're "non-profit," they can just exist to pay out cash to their board of directors.
If I did anything like that, I'd be arrested. But this is the Democrat Legislature of North Carolina, and they answer to no one. Just keep paying your taxes, these legislators just need more money to spend on themselves.
1
Maybe I should run for office and start a private non profit corp. Sounds like a "shut yer pie hole, pay your taxes and quit asking questions citizen" low overhead operation! Add free healthcare courtesy of the Dems and I'm ready to retire in style! *snicker*

To show you how gerrymandered North Carolina is -- the people, as a state, have voted for a Republican for President every election since the 1970s -- but cannot get a majority in the House or Senate (other than once time in the House). Each year, thousands more people vote for Republicans for Senate, but the Democrats retain a giant majority.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.
Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.
Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.
As you spend November writing, you can draw comfort from the fact that, all around the world, other National Novel Writing Month participants are going through the same joys and sorrows of producing the Great Frantic Novel. Wrimos meet throughout the month to offer encouragement, commiseration, and—when the thing is done—the kind of raucous celebrations that tend to frighten animals and small children.
In 2006, we had over 79,000 participants. Nearly 13,000 of them crossed the 50k finish line by the midnight deadline, entering into the annals of NaNoWriMo superstardom forever. They started the month as auto mechanics, out-of-work actors, and middle school English teachers. They walked away novelists.
So, to recap:
What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month's time.
Who: You! We can't do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let's write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.
Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era's most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.
When: Sign-ups begin October 1, 2007. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.
This year there's over 90,000 people signed up! Join in today and get writing!

I like the American Legion. I suppose that's why I'm a member. And when they do things like this, it just makes me glad I'm a member (even if not a member of that post, nor even any California post).
You see, there's something called "tradition." This country was, whether you like it or not, founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. And these beliefs include a sense a right and wrong. Now I realize that there are a lot of people (especially in California) that simply do not believe in right and wrong. There are a lot of people that believe there is no absolute truth. Well, they're wrong.
In fact, it was George Washington that said a nation cannot survive without morals and religious principles. If you completely remove all things that are associated with Christianity from the country, you will end up with a lawless land full of evil and destruction. Literally, survival of the fittest will rule -- and I will be able to kill anyone that I want because it wouldn't be wrong.
There's nothing wrong with reciting "In the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost." Did you get that? It doesn't say anything about the person being buried, JUST in the eyes of a Christian citizen. There's NOTHING there that any sane person could possibly consider government endorsement of any religion.
So American Legion, keep up the good work -- the only way today to retain values, morals, and traditions is going to be to ignore the government no matter the cost.
This is, reportedly, Fox News setting up a camera shoot covering a Republican conference:
Just can't let those darn Ron Paul supporters be seen. He's got dangerous ideas, so the mainstream media, even Fox News, apparently, simply cannot let people know about him.
1
Two comments. Ron Paul is not a Republican, he is an anarchist preparing the way for the Communists.
Second, no one should forget that most of the employees for FOX are news people (i.e. liberals). The employees at FOX donated almost four time as much money to John Kerry as they did to George Bush.

Communist? Wow. I don't think you've read anything about any of Ron Paul's positions. I'm pretty sure that there's not one single communist idea that he would support or has ever voted for.
As for who is a Republican, I guess that depends on what you think Republicans stand for. If you think Republicans are conservatives, then Paul is a Republican. If you think Republicans are represented by Bush and the recent Congressional majorities then indeed, Paul is not a Republican. Nor would I be -- because unlike them, I honestly like freedom.

To be honest, I don't like Ron Pauls stance on the War on Terror. Everything else about keeping the federal government out of our lives and smaller government I agree with. I believe that as far as the War goes, we need to finish what has been started or we will pay dearly.
I took the Libertarian test a long time ago and came up 98% Libertarian on my views. But I am also a believer that we need to go at fighting terrorism and Islamofacists with a vengence. Bush has gone at it piecemeal, and he is also selling us down the tubes with Mexico.

I agree with you. The problem, at least this election, is that I don't agree with ANY candidate a whole lot. The only who I appear to agree most of the time with is Paul. Rudy talks tough on the war -- but every single other position he has I disagree with.
So while I might disagree with Paul on one issue, I agree with him a WHOLE lot more. And I think Paul, as a Republican, would win BIG in the general election. What are Republicans going to do? Vote for Hillary? I don't think so. And the fringe left will leave Hillary (pro-war) and go with Paul (anti-war). I think he would really win huge if he can win the primary (which is one reason why the media doesn't like him).

I have to wonder to if once he has access to high profile security information if he would change his antiwar view? I guess if he did, he could no doubt be trusted. I do think he is an honest man. I just hear a relative in Virginia who is a huge "Truther" pushing for Ron Paul and it makes me wonder since I think of the as the Moonbat branch of the family! LOL!!!

When truthers support Paul, all I can think of is the extra votes that will be siphoned away from the Democrat candidate...

When Tom Burnett Sr. came out against the Flight 93 Memorial, the press asked architect Paul Murdoch if there were really going to be 44 inscribed translucent blocks emplaced along the flight path (equaling the number of passengers, crew, AND terrorists). Murdoch acknowledged 43 of the blocks, but denied knowing about a 44th:
[T]here are 40 inscribed marble panels listing the names of the passengers and crew at the gateway to the Sacred Ground, where their remains still rest.
There is then an opening in the wall, Mr. Murdoch said, and three additional panels, which would include the date, Sept. 11, 2001.
"Where the other one is being fabricated, I don't know," he said.
Yes he does. Paul Murdoch is fully aware of the large dedicatory glass block at the end of the Entry Portal Walkway:
Man and child stand in front of the 44th block, which forms the railing at the end of the Entry Portal Walkway. The glass block will be inscribed: "A field of honor forever." This Walkway provides visitors with their first view of the inside of the giant crescent. (From the Entry Portal page of the original design PDFs. Click pic for wider view.)
The flight path
The Entry Portal Walkway is built along the flight path. It signifies, in Paul Murdoch's own description, the terrorists breaking the circle and turning it into a giant crescent. The flight path then continues down to the crash site, which sits in the middle of the mouth of the giant crescent (in roughly the position of the star on an Islamic crescent and star flag).
Just before the impact point is the Memorial Wall, also built along the flight path. This two part wall is where the other 43 blocks will be placed (the ones described by Paul Murdoch above):
The forty translucent blocks that run horizontally through the left hand section of wall (closest to the impact crater) will be inscribed with the names of the forty murdered heroes. The three on the right will be inscribed with the 9/11 date. (From the Sacred Ground Plaza page of the original design PDF's. Click pic for larger image. The alternating white and gray depicts the zig zag layout of the translucent blocks.)
Challenged by the father of one of our murdered heroes, Murdoch told a desperate lie, feigning ignorance of one of the most prominent features of his own design: the huge glass block that dedicates the entire site. This should have been the end of his hijack attempt, but Murdoch's deception was abetted by both the Memorial Project and the press.
The abettors
"That has been disproved so many times," said Bill Hayworth, the Memorial Project's PR flack, when asked about the 44 blocks. Would it have been too much for reporters to ask for this proof?
In fact Murdoch is the first one to ever even deny that there are 44 glass blocks on the flight path. The only earlier Memorial Project statement about the 44 blocks was from Project Manager Jeff Reinbold, who told Alec Rawls in an April 2006 conference call that the giant glass block can't be counted with the small glass blocks because it is bigger: "If we are going to count the big glass block with the small glass blocks," he said, "then we have to count the windows in the visitor center too." (Crescent of Betrayal, download 3, p. 146.)
"The windows in the visitor center are not on the flight path," Rawls replied. He never said they were all the same size, and he never said there are no other panes of glass in the Memorial. Reinbold's silly dodges do not contradict Rawls' 44 glass blocks claim in any way.
The press was also in on the deception. Kecia Bal, the reporter who quoted Hayworth's dismissal of the 44 blocks claim had already verified the block count for herself. Mr. Rawls had earlier sent her close ups of all 44. She responded with a request for copies of the original design PDFs, so she could check the veracity of these close-ups for herself.
When Bal quoted Hayworth, she knew he was wrong, and allowed him to mislead the public by suppressing her own fact checking of the 44 blocks. People can think that the 44 blocks are innocuous if they want, but lying about the block count certainly is not innocuous. Similarly for many the other lies that are being told in defense of the crescent design.
Memorial Project members insist that it is just coincidence that a person facing directly into the giant crescent will be facing almost exactly at Mecca, but that isn't what they are telling the public. They are telling the newspapers that the Mecca-orientation claim is false, while acknowledging amongst themselves that the Mecca orientation is real.
Again and again Murdoch, the Memorial Project and the press are lying in concert to cover up the facts of the design. Some people will be unsure what to make of the many suspicious features of the crescent design but no one should doubt the need to expose and condemn those who lie about the facts.

Re: Urgent Matters of Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery.
October 30, 2007
Dear Mayor Pat McCrory:
We agree with your statements on crime and not tolerating it. We hope the same does apply towards Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery. We have express our concerns about the welfare of Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery for several years now.
Since tomorrow night is Halloween hope you will have the police department keep a special eye on both cemeteries. For the past several years the cemeteries have had various occurrences of vandalism that has occurred. We do not need any more vandalism in Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery. It sickness us find these headstones broken on purpose. This type of criminal activity is horrible an outrage to the families and citizens of Charlotte.
The vandalism has consisted of statues on burial plots broken, some beheaded, various headstones broken, and some bashed into pieces. Even monuments have had pieces chipped, which have lead to further cracking. Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery has been the victim of vandalism for too long.
We are concerned regarding the lack of responsibility we have encountered in the past. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department hasn't’t followed up on reports filed. A police officer only has contacted us once and left a message. We have tried to contact him back, several times and have not heard from him. There haven’t been any arrests in regards to the vandalism. The aloof behavior is why people do not take the time to become more involved. This has not been an uncommon behavior by police or city officials.
The Homeless has become bigger problem in Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery.
We came across several locations where the homeless are staying. Several homeless individuals are using Mausoleum, as shelter. Saw several homeless individuals near the Norfolk track line. On the east side of Elmwood by the old office, two individuals are camping there. There is a large amount of garbage all around the buildings too.
Our cemeteries have been allowed to become a haven for the homeless, assaults at times and gang activity. City officials have not taken a more productive stand help protect and maintain Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery. We trust that this will change, so Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery will become a safe haven.
Vandalism is bad enough in Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery, yet we have to worry about damages done by lawn mowers too. The Lawn Company uses mowers that are too big and set very low for the terrain of the cemetery. This causes scraping, chipping, breaking, and toppling of the headstones and damage occurs. Many of these headstones are works of art the quality, and
workmanship, cannot be replaced. We (the families) cannot stress that enough! Many of the older headstones come from artisans who hand carved these stones; they cannot be replaced with inferior copies. Once they are gone, they are gone, and shame on those who allowed this!
It is nice to see areas that had new trash bins, but it seems that trash bins are not dumped enough. This why a rodent problem has started in the cemeteries and it seems the rats come from the sewers. I know that cities do have these types of problems. However, this particular problem has been brought up in the past to various city officials.
When our city is not providing safety or maintaining up keep, for Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery. Then city is in violation of North Carolina State Laws. The city is fully responsible for Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery. Therefore, when we inform you of things that are going on, in the cemetery; we expect these things to be corrected quickly.
We still have numerous dogs running loose through Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery. Simple, the fourth Ward Neighborhood needs a Dog Park. Many people are not cleaning up after their dogs business. Our headstones are in honor of our love ones not have dog crap on them. Signs are posted in both cemeteries that state the rules and city ordinances. Again, these ordinances are not followed or enforced.
We have spoken with city officials numerous times and nothing has been done stop this. Animal Control told city officials that dogs should not be allowed in the cemetery. Several cemeteries in North Carolina do not allow dogs. By the lack of officials, taking the time to rectify this, it becomes abundantly clear, that City Officials do not have respect for the citizens, who they are elected to serve.
The following links show various pictures regarding these matters.
http://www.alexandersociety.com/VandalismAtElmwoodCemetery.html
http://www.alexandersociety.com/HallofShame.html
We have spoken with you and address city council numerous times on the issues, still nothing has changed. Even have reported various criminal activity to authorities and seen no follow up or arrest made. For some reason, the police officers that we saw and spoken with have not enact on any of these past issues.
Various people have shared the same type of frustration too. We are tired of seeing inconsistency, to help stop these issues; one needs diligent people to follow through.
Mr. McCrory, there has been a strong need for a proactive resolution to these problems. Several times over the years, we have offered our support and even shared various resources that would help resolve these problems. As Mayor, the buck stops with you and we have not seen consistent, decisive action from you. Citizens need to see a positive change and direction.
We have spoken with various community leaders and families, one thing that resounds as a theme, is the lack of responsibility that elected officials have shown. Elmwood and Pinewood Cemetery, is all that is left that truly shows the history of Charlotte.
Both cemeteries are intertwined not only with each other, but they directly parallel the City of Charlotte’s vibrant history and growth. A casual visit to these cemeteries quickly reveals its interments of historical significance just by reading the surnames on existent tombstones. We can only pray that our city and county leaders can remember how they would feel, if was their loved ones and it was their headstones being vandalized.
Elmwood is the final resting place for the relatives of two American Presidents, Andrew Jackson, and James K. Polk. Also buried in this part are Relatives of American Pioneer icons such as: Boone, Crockett, Houston, and Davis. Also interred are local pioneers and their descendants such as: the Polk's, Spratts, Alexander’s, Clontzs, Steele's, Whites, Springs, Blacks, Hoods
/ Presley, Orrs.
Pinewood is much older. Not many people know the rich and wondrous history of this section of the Cemetery. Leaders who were the foundations of African-American communities are in Pinewood as well. It is a wealth of history for an entire culture, one that has lost much of its relevant history to the injustices of the past. It should be preserved and protected, as it is it is being destroyed by lawnmowers, vandals, and ignorance.
Mr. McCrory, we like to try again meeting with you personally about these issues. This time like to suggest have your office arrange this, so there is no misunderstandings and lack of communication.
We want a positive plan and direction put in place solve these issues. If we pull all our resources together just think what could be accomplish. We are willing, are you?
The ball is in your court and we hope that another body is not found!
Sincerely,
Mark A. Palmer

In case you hadn't heard, The Golden Compass is a movie that will be released in November. It's a "kids" movie. It's purpose is to actively tear down children and religion. It is designed to drag your children away from any semblance of religion and dash any hope they have in their life. It used to be that movies lifted people up. This one is designed to bring you down.
Oh sure, they claim that's not true, but again, the story is about a girl on a quest to kill God. And the author open says that he hates God.
So atheists, celebrate and rejoice. Go and see this movie that was written by some who writes about killing God. But be warned, it is designed to destroy hope in your children. It's designed to make kids think that life is worthless. So of course, the critics love it. How sad.
We have the homosexual lobby forcing it's agenda onto our kids.
We have the feminist movement forcing GirlsGoneWild agenda onto our daughters via slutty costumes for Halloween and birth control...for 9, 10, 11, 12 yr olds.
We have anti-religious factions removing the recitals for military funerals. As well as removing GOD from our coinage and paper money.
Hmm. Is it any wonder we have a country full of absolute freaks who have no moral or value?
No it is not a wonder.

Actually, I believe we are seeing the days leading up to the second coming of Christ as per the Bible. Christians are be persecuted, God is under fire, evil seems to be taking over.
What I tell myself every morning is as long as I am willing to die in defense of Christ and my faith, then I'll go all the way home to the place he has prepared. So no worries. I will try to defend the world for the sake of my sons and their children someday, but if Christ comes first, let it happen. He is in control. :-)

Indeed, I realize the entire country won't be destroyed as Soddom was, because there is some hope. No, not for man, because as you mention, that day of judgment is coming.
