Duh

I just figured out that if you upload a graphic that has an apostrophe in the file name, it will get uploaded but it won't show you the html for the result.

Don't know if this is common knowledge or not. Hopefully this little advice will serve as a warning.

MT Blacklist

Blacklist is becoming too restrictive again...

Terms not allowed include shut, BBC, CNN among others.

Commenters are not allowed to post links to web sites relevant to the discussion.

My question is how to access the blacklist to correct this... maybe a MT Blacklist for Dummies post?

Thanks in advance!

Comment Question

I just got an email from someone who wants to comment on an old blog post. It's not spam -- just a popular search topic (Joel Osteen and Larry King), but the post is from last June.

For some reason, it says that comments are not allowed on that post. I haven't disabled comments for any posts, and you can still comment on other posts on the blog. Is it just because the post is old? Is there a way I can let people keep commenting?

Thanks

Warren

Nonprofit Ecommerce Bleg

I'm on the board of a non-profit corporation that runs our neighborhood swimming pool (which is, incidentally, shaped like the state of Texas). I'm designing the website, which I'm perfectly capable of doing, thanks to a couple years of blogging and tinkering around on the 'net.

However, I'm looking for some informed advice on the best way to implement an online commerce interface. Essentially, we would like to register members online, letting them use their credit card to pay the fee, and being able to track and pull reports on their registration information.

I've looked at active.com and www.paymentonline.com, and think something like that might work. However, if any of you wonderful MuNuvians have some experience or advice in this area, I would much appreciate a comment or email.

Thanks!

Do You Like It Hot?

Some of you know, but many of you don't, that my husband and I run a spicy food blog. Right now, there are very few blogs that deal solely with spicy foods. One is our blog, The Hot Zone Online, and another is Nick Lindauer's Hot Sauce Blog. Though we're the big 2 out there, Nick takes a bit of a different approach than us AND he has an online store to purchase those sauces which he sells. Recently, Nick has just won his way into my heart and, I'm sure, the heart of many other bloggers with the introduction of this...

Post-Dating A Post

Does MT have the ability to post-date a post? What I am trying to ask, is can I create a post with a time of say tomorrow at 10:00am and not have the post show up until then?

Thanks,

SR

HELP! A Firefox question

Ok, so somehow I have f*cked up firefox, and now instead of it opening popup type windows normal sized (like comment windows), they all open up narrow and unresizable.

I figured out how to make it allow me to manually resize the too-small windows, thanks to Mozilla, but I have no idea how to make it work right in the first place. I would prefer not to have to resize the stoopid things every time they open.

This only happens in MY Firefox profile, not my husband's or the dummy one I set up in the process of troubleshooting.

Any ideas? I know many of you are much bigger computer geeks than I am....

I'm looking for an idea of what syntax to use to create comment permalinks? I want to be able to directly link to a comment within an entry. Thanks in advance!

Still Having Trackback Problems

Hey Pixy, still having TB problems. The two blogs that are having problems are hosted at thelibertypapers.org and unrepentantindividual.com. They are both WordPress 1.5.2 blogs.

Do you just hate WordPress, or what? ;-)

Live Preview Comments

Here's something I ripped off from Ace of Spades HQ... it is the live preview feature for comments.

I recently added this feature to this site, where it is located above the comment box, and to Bad Example, where it is locate under the comment box.

This code works in MT. I don't see any MT specific code in it, so it should work in Word Press or anything else for that matter. If you try it out, please leave a comment to the effect that it works or not. Thanks!

USA Today = "questionable content"?

Another blogger on my site attempted to post a hyperlink to a USA Today article in the comments, but was denied -- an "objectionable content: usatoday.com" message appeared. I tried it myself and got the same thing.

Why, of all things, is USA Today considered "objectionable content"? I'm assuming it's a server thing 'cause I don't see where I could block specific domains even if I wanted to.

Figured out the Podcasting Thing

I figured out how to set up an XML feed for my podcast.
I used Podifier 2.1. It's mac or windows compatible.

Slow Server

Hi everyone. Sorry about the slow performance earlier. It was due to a combination of higher than usual traffic and a whole lot of referer spam. The server itself and the network were both working fine, but combined load, together with some issues with Apache and what looks like a bug in the referer spam bot, led to all the connections in Apache getting tied up.

I allowed for 250 simultaneous connections; under normal conditions it rarely goes above 100. And now that I've whacked the refererer spam, it's down to around 60, even though were are sending out nearly as many pages as before.

(Oh, and then I couldn't log in to my wireless internet connection, and my ADSL doesn't have a static IP, so I can't use that to log in to the server because it's behind a firewall, so I couldn't fix anything until I got to work. Meh.)

I know how to use blacklist on the comments, but I can't figure out the tb's.

Thanks,

Podcasting

I am new to pocasting, actually, I just put up my first podcast today.

I wanted to know how I can set up a RSS feed for it so I can eventually submit it to iTunes or something.
