R.I.P. A Hero

A real American hero died on December 23,2009. I know I'm late posting this but better late than never....

Col.Bob Howard (July 11, 1939 – December 23, 2009), a 36 year veteran of the U.S. Army Green Berets/SF died of cancer. Col. Howard was the first man to be nominated for the Congressional Medal of Honor THREE times.

Col. Howard came up through the ranks and retired as the most decorated soldier of the modern era. He was awarded the Medal of Honor, after having been nominated for it twice before (I guess the third time really IS the charm!). He also had 8 purple hearts, 4 bronze stars and 2 silver stars and two DS crosses. He spent 5 tours of duty in Viet Nam (serving mostly in Laos and Cambodia). In one 54 month period, he was wounded 14 times. He retired from active service in 1996, but he went to both Iraq and Afghanistan to visit the troops there. He held two Masters degrees.

Our nation lost one of it's real heroes; it will be a long time before we see anyone of his stature again.

WHERE is the money?

Photobucket

The Pretender in Chief was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on the 10 of December, 2009. The Prize has a cash value of $1.4 million dollars attendant to it.
Mr. Obama stated at the time that the money would be donated to charity, but as of today, no one knows where the money has gone.

The US Code is very specific about gifts given to elected officials from foreign sources; the code states:

1) The Congress consents to—
(A) the accepting and retaining by an employee of a gift of minimal value tendered and received as a souvenir or mark of courtesy; and
(B) the accepting by an employee of a gift of more than minimal value when such gift is in the nature of an educational scholarship or medical treatment or when it appears that to refuse the gift would likely cause offense or embarrassment or otherwise adversely affect the foreign relations of the United States, except that—
(i) a tangible gift of more than minimal value is deemed to have been accepted on behalf of the United States and, upon acceptance, shall become the property of the United States; and

(ii) an employee may accept gifts of travel or expenses for travel taking place entirely outside the United States (such as transportation, food, and lodging) of more than minimal value if such acceptance is appropriate, consistent with the interests of the United States, and permitted by the employing agency and any regulations which may be prescribed by the employing agency.
(2) Within 60 days after accepting a tangible gift of more than minimal value (other than a gift described in paragraph (1)(B)(ii)), an employee shall—
(A) deposit the gift for disposal with his or her employing agency; or
(B) subject to the approval of the employing agency, deposit the gift with that agency for official use.

The President is considered a Federal employee.

In other words, any monies he received from foreign sources MUST be turned over to the Treasury Department within 60 days. Mr. Obama CAN NOT LEGALLY donate that money to any charity; it belongs to the United States.

He's still within the 60 day period, but he needs to turn it over within the next 26 days or he will be committing an impeachable offense under the US Code.

Keep on eye on this issue folks, and keep the legal requirements in mind. The Pretenders actions will tell you just what kind of Administration we are laboring under.

I'm not holding my breath that he will do what he is legally required to do, but I'm not sanguine on Congress holding him accountable to the legality either.

Quote of the Day

"If ever a time should come when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of it's experienced patriots to prevent it's ruin."- Samuel Adams 1776

"Vain and aspiring" if that isn't a perfect description of the Pretender sitting in the Oval Office at present, I don't know what does....

Quote of the Day

“Our federal tax system is, in short, utterly impossible, utterly unjust and completely counterproductive, it reeks with injustice and is fundamentally un-American... it has earned a rebellion and it's time we rebelled...” -Ronald Reagan

Mr. Reagan tried, but he didn't fix the fundamental problem.

It's time we scrapped the current tax system and institute the Fair Tax. Government HAS to learn to live within a system fair to all, or the tax and spend(thrift) Congress will bankrupt the nation.

FINALLY, A Response

FINALLY! There is a semi-official response to James Camerons foray into Military and Corporate bashing, Avatar.

I am a HUGE Sci-Fi fan, but I refuse to spend my money on a military bashing treehugger's wet dream, no matter how slick. This movie does a disservice to anyone that wore the uniform of our Armed Services, but most especially those that can proudly claim the title "United States Marine".

Cameron tries to portray that he's "cutting edge" director/producer, but in reality all he is, is a military/big business hating hippy leftover from the 60's.

You may say "it's just a movie", but it isn't, it's a piece of propaganda designed to smear those in our society that: A, protect us from threat of force, and B, from those that actually produce those items we take for granted in the greatest nation the Earth has ever seen.

No matter how technologically advanced the CGI is; the movie is just Progressive dreck in it's storyline, designed to turn the gullible into the sheep that the Leftists desire. It's "look at the shiny thing", all the while smearing the Warriors and the Producers that made our society great.

Let movies like AVATAR play, by all means; I just hope that in the future it will be seen and advertised for what it is, Leftist Propaganda. Leni Riefenstahl would have been proud to acknowledge a fellow traveler/successor in the genre, I'm sure.

I think I'll just go see Sherlock Holmes again, should I wish to donate funds to the theater industry in the near future.

America's Finest

This video tribute to our true patriots on the front lines of war, told by Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North at the NRA Annual Meeting in 2009, just before Thanksgiving.

I hope you find it as inspiring as I did.

BBQ RULES

It might seem ridiculous to talk about BBQing when there is a foot of snow on the ground and the wind chill index hasn't risen above 10 degrees in a month, but there are important safety rules associated with the manly tradition of the BBQ; Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity .

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

(1) The woman buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill – beer in hand.

(4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.

Routine reminders thus far…

Here comes the important part:

(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

(6) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat

( THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

Still pretty routine…

(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

And most important of all:

(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed ’ her night off ’ and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there’s just no pleasing some women!

Women, just remember , the phrase "A perfect man" is an oxymoron!

Quote of the Day

"Well, there's something known as American conservatism, though it does not even call itself that. It's been calling itself 'voting Republican' or 'not liking the New Deal.' But it is a very American approach to life, and it has to do with knowing that the government is not your master, that America is good, that freedom is good and must be defended, and communism is very, very bad." --National Review founder William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-200

Opinion in Brief

Today I'm putting up an opinion piece written by what I consider one of the greatest minds our country has ever produced. Mr. Sowell has identified a major problem in Progressive thinking, or rather, LACK of thinking on the Progressives part; The slavish following of the Academic theory du jour because, after all, these people are "smart".

"If there is any lesson in the history of ideas, it is that good intentions tell you nothing about the actual consequences. But intellectuals who generate ideas do not have to pay the consequences. Academic intellectuals are shielded by the principles of academic freedom and journalists in democratic societies are shielded by the principle of freedom of the press. Seldom do those who produce or peddle dangerous, or even fatal, ideas have to pay a price, even in a loss of credibility. ... Even political leaders have been judged by how noble their ideas sounded, rather than by how disastrous their consequences were. ... It may seem strange that so many people of great intellect have said and done so many things whose consequences ranged from counterproductive to catastrophic. Yet it is not so surprising when we consider whether anybody has ever had the range of knowledge required to make the sweeping kinds of decisions that so many intellectuals are prone to make, especially when they pay no price for being wrong. Intellectuals and their followers have often been overly impressed by the fact that intellectuals tend, on average, to have more knowledge than other individuals in their society. What they have overlooked is that intellectuals have far less knowledge than the total knowledge possessed by the millions of other people whom they disdain and whose decisions they seek to override. We have had to learn the consequences of elite preemption the hard way -- and many of us have yet to learn that lesson." --economist Thomas Sowell

Another Blonde Joke

This is mainly meant for Northerners, blondes, and those married to blondes, but the rest of you may also appreciate it.

One winter morning a husband and wife in northern Minnesota were listening to the radio during breakfast. They heard the announcer Say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the even-numbered side of the street, so the Snowplows can get through."

So the good wife went out and moved her car... A week later while they are eating breakfast again, the radio announcer said, "We are expecting 10 to 12 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street, so The snowplows can get through."

The good wife went out and moved her car again. The next week they are again having breakfast, when the radio announcer says,

"We are expecting 12 to 14 inches of snow today. You must park..." Then the electric power went out.

The good wife was very upset, and with a worried look on her face she said, "Honey, I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the snowplows can get through?"

With the love and understanding in his voice that all men who are married to blondes exhibit, the husband replied, "Why don't you just leave it in the garage this time."

Military Humor

Marine recruits are not allowed to wear watches, because recruits tend to look at them, instead of paying attention to their DIs.

One reporter who was following a Marine recruit asked the recruit how he felt about not knowing what time it was.

The recruit replied, "Well, Sir, to be honest with you, I don't need a watch. When the DI screams and it's starting to get dark, then I know it's almost bedtime, and when the DI screams and it's been dark for a little while, it's time to wake up".

Sometimes military life can get rough!

God bless our men and women serving in the Military.....

Quote of the Day

"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing Government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it."
-Abraham Lincoln, first inaugural address

I believe that the 2010 election will determine whether we can still avail ourselves of our Constitutional rights to affect change in our government; or if we will be forced to use our revolutionary right to do so.

I contend that the present Administration is inimical to our way of governance in both the Executive AND Legislative branches and needs to be overthrown; either (I HOPE) at the ballot box, or by force of arms. It is up to US which course will be required.

May the Deity have mercy on us all, and strengthen us to make the correct choices.

Quote of the Day

"You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream -- the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order -- or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, 'The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits." --Ronald Reagan

Subject; The Human Body

This is very interesting...

Photobucket

It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.

One human hair can support 3 kg (6.6 lb).

The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb.

Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.

A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.

There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.

Women blink twice as often as men.

The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain..

Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.

If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.

Women reading this will be finished now.

Men are still busy checking their thumbs.
