A passenger on the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight recounts:
"We are currently in Saudi Arabia.
One of the crew members attacked the pilot with a knife and disabled the aircraft's systems. Yaniv (pictured?) and another passenger stormed the cockpit and subdued the attacker.
Luckily, there were two more pilots on board. They were the ones who managed to land the plane."
Well, yes. Overall, the probability that a plane full of Israelis will contain a trained assault team, two additional pilots, and, statistically, at least one cardiac surgeon, psychologist, lawyer, and diamond dealer is substantially higher than 50%.

A flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was unexpectedly diverted to Saudi Arabia after one pilot stabbed the other and "apparently tried to crash the plane", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said.
The Flydubai plane - which took off from Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates early on Wednesday morning - signalled an emergency alert two hours into the flight.
Tracking data also showed a sudden drop in the plane's altitude.
Flight FZ1073 was forced to change course from its route to Ben-Gurion Airport in Israel and instead landed at Tabuk Airport in northeastern Saudi Arabia.
On arrival, accounts from passengers to local media detailed a stabbing in the cockpit of the plane.
In an address after the incident, Netanyahu confirmed the stabbing and said a passenger and crew member broke into the cockpit and overpowered "the pilot who had carried out the stabbing".
The pilot was arrested and is being questioned by Saudi authorities, the prime minister said.
The plane's captain and first officer were injured and taken to hospital, the company that owns Tabuk Airport said. It did not say what caused the injuries.

All the Jews are probably lying. I understand the BBC's refusal to just say the guy stabbed the other pilot. Who knows, maybe the other pilot slipped and fell on to a knife multiple times.

Flydubai said "an altercation occurred in the flight deck" and all passengers are safe and accounted for. The flight was carrying at least 150 people, with Netanyahu saying "almost all" passengers were Israeli.

And you can't trust the words of 150 different people, given that they're almost all Israelis.

Initial local media reports cited Israeli officials as saying a fight had broken out between two pilots.
But, speaking on Wednesday following the incident, Netanyahu confirmed later reports that one pilot had stabbed the other before "apparently trying to crash" the plane.
He added that an Israeli passenger told him "the plane went into a spin and began to descend" before the passenger and a crew member broke into the cockpit and overpowered the "pilot who had carried out the stabbing".

Passengers on board the flight have been talking to various media outlets. BBC News has not been able to verify their accounts.

You'd think the consistent accounts of 150 different people would verify each other's accounts, but no, these are Jews, and they probably did a genocide in the cockpit.

Yasmin Abukasis told Reuters that her daughter - who was on the flight - said a man holding a knife had forced one of the pilots onto the floor, and that there was blood everywhere.
Speaking from Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, she said her daughter phoned her to say she heard screaming on the plane as a pilot called for help, adding that two other pilots took control of the plane as other passengers ran towards a man who had a knife.
"The plane start to lose control. So all the people, they scream, they think they are going," Abukasis told AP news agency.
One female passenger described the "very stressful" moment people realised the plane was descending. "We understood the pilots lost control," she told Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom.
"There are people here with shirts covered in blood," she said, adding: "Now we are fine and want to return home."
Another unnamed passenger told the Jerusalem Post that while passengers near the front of the plane forced the attacker from the cockpit after the stabbing of the co-pilot, two pilots from the back of the plane helped land the aircraft.
Almog Itali, who was also on board the flight, told media one of the pilots who landed the aircraft was British.
The other pilot was European, Itali said, although he did not provide a specific nationality.

The media is calling the attempt at a 9/11 in Tel Aviv an "altercation" or "flight fight."

I was on a flight from Tel Aviv to Paris that did not have enough kosher meals on board. I guess somebody at the airline screwed up the count.

There was practically a riot on the plane. The flight attendant gave a bottle of wine to me and the lady sitting next to me because we were about the only ones on the plane not causing a ruckus.

182 In 1981 with first baby son, we were flying back West from MS. Weather was bad with storms, black clouds, at take off to Texas.

We sat bulkhead with kids & had just been served a lovely lunch. It is rare for airline food to look lovely for me. My husband had the 8wk old asleep on his shoulder.

The plane rolled a hard left. Centered. Hard right. Then dropped flat tens of thousands of feet. Everything went airborne, food, etc in aisle. Overhead bins opened. I leaned toward the baby to help hold him. Then it was over.

A flight attendant ran to the front for a medical kit. She had giant hives on her neck and I said to my husband, "Well, that's not good." Unseatbelted guy cut open his head in the back.

There was no time to scream or panic. The sounds from passengers were similar to a carnival ride of "oooh." It happend in seconds vs what these people went through. I was wearing a wool skirt & when we got off the plane I had an opened mustard packet on my back.

I later learned there was a tornado on the ground as we flew over LA. It was a downdraft that caused the Dutch Roll. Since then neither of us bat an eye when turbulence is announced. Nothing has compared to that.

The UK has pretty advanced surveillance systems, so they might be pretty confident the 5 can't really escape, but where they go, who they call/text, etc may be very useful intel. They're even adding to the tough, pry-proof doors with new aircraft. There's a gate of sorts between first class and the forward head, so pilots can take bathroom breaks while keeping cockpit area secure.

Early on, was not impressed with his dem-like conflation between students who have to bite a university-supplied pillow in a university-supplied "safe space" because somebody is saying something they really, really don't like somewhere on campus and conservative kids who feel they can't speak their mind on campus or fear that the administration won't care how they are treated. NH Dept of Safety has free classes/seminars on Emergency Preparedness for Houses of Worship. Sadly too many pastors won't take advantage of this -- optics of encouraging violence, etc.

I went to a couple of these a few years ago. They stressed repeatedly - it is not a question of IF it'll happen in your town, but WHEN.

This may be the most incredible detail of the entire story.

Reuters has reported that the pilot who was stabbed aboard FlyDubai Flight FZ 1073 manually released the lock on the cockpit door while he was lying on the floor.

That pilot’s name is Captain Smit Machchhar.

FOX: “The wounded pilot, listen to this, covered with blood and lying on the floor, had clicked open the release of the cockpit door.”

“A second set of pilots on board who were due to replace the first pair, landed the plane.”

“A pilot who had just been stabbed, had the wherewithal to open that cockpit door. This man can be described as none other than a hero.”

That decision allowed the replacement pilots to reach the cockpit and take control of the aircraft.

His heroic actions likely saved the the lives of every passenger on board.
