The Morning Rant

punk-monkey.jpg

The massive, all-encompassing incompetence of most government is on full display today! Humanity has spent its entire history getting better and better at killing each other, yet the Tennessee Department of Corrections can't manage to knock off somebody who is already strapped to a f*cking gurney?

In our culture's drive to make everything painless, including capital punishment, we have made a mockery of the concept, and botching a simple task is just the icing on the cake. This woman was convicted in 1996...30 years ago! That her sentence wasn't carried out promptly after a pro forma appeal is a travesty of justice, and in and of itself is cruel and unusual.

Christa Pike still alive, 'snoring' after 2 lethal injections as Tennessee governor halts all executions

The first woman set to be put to death in Tennessee in over 200 years was given two doses of a lethal injection Wednesday evening, but remained alive as her botched execution descended into chaos — and prompted the governor to demand an outside probe and issue an emergency pause on all executions for the remainder of the year.

There are several tried-and-true ways that the state can kill, and it isn't unreasonable for the people to expect some minimal level of competence in carrying out the sentence. Hanging works. Firing squads work. Electrocution works. But the newest fad of painless death by injection seems not to work very well at all, because the idiots in charge of concocting the lethal dose try to do it in the kindest, most peaceful way imaginable.

Here's a pro-tip! Take a gram of Fentanyl confiscated at the border, mix it in some saline, and shoot it into the bitch's vein. That will do nicely, since the dosage is hundreds of times larger than the lethal dose.

But this is the best part of the entire embarrassing mess!

She was taken to a nearby hospital, where her lawyers said she was “being provided life-saving measures.”

Her condition was unclear as of Thursday morning; however, a doctor who was retained by Pike’s legal team as a medical expert said she likely now has a brain injury as a result.

Life-saving measures after a botched execution?

Apparently there was no "protocol" for this outcome, which exposes the mindset of the bureaucracy. Protocols and regulations are the shield that apparatchiks use to protect themselves from responsibility.

So this evil bitch is in the hospital, perhaps with brain damage, which will be used by her lawyers as a reason to prevent any further attempts to give her what she so richly deserves.

Because we can't kill brain-damaged people? Why not?

51 Who was present and directly involved in preparation and administration of the alleged lethal combination of drugs, I question.

Seems oddly convenient for a debacle like that to happen at this time:

• The Heart Stopper: The final drug is usually potassium chloride. It floods the blood with potassium and stops the heart almost instantly. Once the heart stops from this chemical surge, standard CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a lifesaving method of pushing on the chest and giving breaths) or emergency shots cannot restart it.
• Suffocation: The second drug is a paralyzing agent that stops breathing. Combined with the loss of blood flow, the brain is starved of oxygen within minutes.

To prevent his shit-heel son from causing a scene, he deceives his son into acting out a faux execution (followed by banishment) only to turn away at the last moment, giving away that the execution is in fact being carried out.

Yet, if you take away all the excuses, she lived a pretty normal life for a teenager, had a boyfriend and friends and a social life, and the murder was clearly premeditated and planned.

Nothing in Pike's past caused her to do this. She just wanted Slemmer dead because she was a rival for the boyfriend's affections. One of the oldest motives in human existence. Many people have killed for less.

Two old women are walking down the street when it begins to rain. The first woman takes out a condom from her handbag, cuts off the tip, and pits it over her cigarette.
The second woman asked her what it was and the first woman saind, "It's a condom. You can get them at just about any pharmacy, and they are great for keeping your cigarettes dry in the rain."
So a little while later, the second old woman walks into a pharmacy and says that she needs a condom.
The clerk asked, "What size do you need?"
She replied, "Do you have one that's big enough to fit a Camel?"

The rallying cry from all corners of the Clancy Covens and other assorted bleeding hearts will render her sentence to life in prison. Heck, she'll probably win some kind of lawsuit and receive monetary damages for pain and suffering. What will be left unstated is the botched life of Colleen's mother. The cruel and unusual suffering that woman has gone through for over 30 years. But bleeding hearts don't give a damn about her.

Screw it. Just give her a Black Jack Ketchum Special.

Black Jack was executed in the Old West by hanging, but it took weeks between when he was weighed for his hanging (to calculate the proper drop) and when the traveling hangman arrived in town from other duties. Black Jack had apparently pigged out on jail food in the meantime and had gained something like 30 lbs since he was weighed. When the trap door was sprung, the rope was too long and it ripped his head completely off his body.

Oops.

If even a quarter of that is true, any CPS worker involved in her case should have been fired (preferably from a cannon). I AM NOT EXCUSING THE MURDER. But it looks like the state helped turn her into the monster that she is by refusing for years to remove her from that situation. Also they should have revoked her drunken mother's nursing license when she was born.

Dad told me that they got more beer that Coca Cola during WW2, even though he didn't drink. AFAIK, Dad didn't smoke.

Grandpa did, but quit when in his early 50's when his doctor told him they weren't healthy (which was amazing for a doc to say in the late 40's early 50's). When he died at the age of 93, his doctor said he had some advanced masses in his lungs; he died of malnutrition (due to intestinal malabsorption) after being in the hospital for the last few months of his life. So, quitting didn't really save him from lung cancer, although that wasn't the cause of death.

Seeing as how the surgeon is about to carve into my skull I wasn’t in a good mood. So when the nurse went for a 4th attempt I said: If you don’t get it this time I might punch you in the nose.

If you believe this is all there is, then you're horrified at the thought of killing any criminal, lest you too get swept up wrongly.

And sending a criminal along to meet Him was a mercy.
