Good morning kids. So, this happened yesterday in the primary elections.

Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s far-left slate of Big Apple congressional hopefuls prevailed in Tuesday’s Democratic primary — with firebrand Darializa Avila Chevalier projected to pull off an AOC-style upset.Former city Comptroller Brad Lander and state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez were quickly projected by the Associated Press and NY1 to win over their establishment Democrat opponents. Avila Chevalier held a razor-thin 49.3% to 46% lead over Rep. Adriano Espaillat with 86% of votes counted late Tuesday, leading the five-term incumbent to concede. The projected win by Avila Chevalier and the congressional race victories — coupled with a likely clean sweep of Democratic Socialists of America candidates in state races — signaled Mamdani could expand his socialist wave beyond New York City, to Washington, DC. . . The candidates hold a slew of far-left views that were once fringe within the Democrat Party.. .

...Valdez and Avila Chevalier both campaigned on their staunch opposition to Israel — labeling the Jewish state’s actions in Gaza a genocide — and on pushing their pro-Palestinian values. Like Mamdani, the pair called for a full divestment of Israel and cutting off of any sales of US arms to its ally in the Middle East.

Valdez also echoed the Mamdani admin’s radical housing platform, pushing for the seizure of property from bad landlords.

All three also want to abolish ICE and Avila Chevalier, a community organizer and doctoral candidate, has even said she doesn’t believe foreign criminals should be deported.

One can laugh at New York and smugly claim, and not unjustly so, that they brought this on themselves. while New York at least for the last 50 years or so has for sure been liberal, the David Dinkins years notwithstanding, it has not been insane. A combination of cultural societal and political conditions have converged to create a perfect storm of insanity that has utterly eradicated the legacy and miracle of the Rudy Giuliani years. And so while one can jeer at New York, this madness can and likely will spread.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Source,” CNN Senior Political Commentator Van Jones reacted to Brad Lander’s primary win over Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) by saying that “The Mamdani phenomenon is not a one guy thing. The Democratic Socialists are an insurgency in this party.” And “This is a serious movement inside the Democratic Party. The left is on the march.”
. . . He continued, “But I think people who thought this was going to be kind of a cute guy off to the side, there’s a huge infrastructure here, there’s a movement here, there’s passion here, and people who don’t like it are going to have to wake up and smell the coffee. This is a serious movement inside the Democratic Party. The left is on the march.”

You know who else was "on the march?!" All Jones needs is an Austrian inflection with a soupçon, or mit einem bisschen of Ugandan/Muslim jive for extra texture! For those unaware or as a refresher, Van Jones is a full-on Anti-American anti-Western freak as you can see from his rap sheet here at Discover the Networks.

Jones’ new approach was modeled on the tactics outlined by the famed radical organizer Saul Alinsky, who stressed the need for revolutionaries to mask the extremism of their objectives and to present themselves as moderates until they could gain some control over the machinery of political power. Jones still considered himself a revolutionary, but a more effective one thanks to his revised tactics.

And thus we had the candidacy and now the actions/policies of Abigail Spanberger among others. So no Van Jones was not lamenting the hard left lurch as illustrated by Mamdani and last night's results in NYC. Far from it, his nipples were bursting with orgasmic glee. But, is this filthy bastard right and my hopes that the coming of President Trump heralded a sea change in our culture merely a speed bump on America's road to hell?

Yes, James Talarico I assume has no shot at all, ditto all the others like him scattered around the sane areas of the country, or am I whistling past the graveyard?

By the end of this year, there could be 10 socialist mayors in the U.S. That’s the most since the 1910s, when socialism was the shiny new object embraced by educated elites.
But what excuse do Democrats have today – after 100 years of socialism’s miserable, murderous failures – for embracing this toxic ideology?
Back in 1911, according to one historical count, members of the Socialist Party of America won office in 74 towns and cities, and another 32 in 1913.
Fast forward to today. As NBC News put it, “Democratic socialists are on the rise in Trump-era mayoral races … fueled by a backlash to Trump policies, economic strain and fatigue with the Democratic establishment.”
Right now, there are eight socialist mayors – the most since the 1920s – and primary voters in one-party District of Columbia virtually guaranteed a ninth when they nominated a socialist to run that misbegotten city. In Los Angeles, meanwhile, socialist Democrat Nithya Raman will face off against the Fidel Castro-loving incumbent Karen Bass. Then there’s Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who is a socialist in all but name. . But Democrats rushing to embrace the current socialist fad should beware, because the last one was (thankfully) short-lived here in the U.S. In 1919, only five socialists won mayoral elections. Even in the middle of the Great Depression, there were only three socialist mayors in the country.
A “historical note” by the New York University Libraries says the party had trouble containing its “revolutionary wing” right off the bat. And the 1917 Russian Revolution, it says, “encouraged the left wing of the party to demand a more militant program and, when this was not forthcoming, to secede from the party in 1919 and establish the Communist Party.”
. . . As the City Journal notes, “As more and more DSA members take power, the group they belong to keeps getting more radical—a tension they will inevitably have to resolve.” A separate City Journal article points out the party’s “emerging militant network.”
Republicans ignore these developments at their own peril, since they can’t fight something – even if that something is as toxic as socialism – with nothing. And dismissing it as “junk food of modern American politics,” as GOP strategist Luke Ball told Fox News recently, isn’t going to cut it.
