Artist had an interesting marriage:
"He married Léonie in 1840. Three years later, she became the lover of Victor Hugo. In 1845, she was caught with him, in flagrante delicto, at a hotel. She was arrested for adultery, but Hugo was not tried because the infuriated King Louis Philippe I did not wish the time of the Chamber of Peers[5] to be taken up with a frivolous matter; Biard was bought off by a stunning commission, to make wall paintings for Versailles.[6] Léonie was taken to the Prison Saint-Lazare, served two months and was then placed in a convent for several months more. Hugo was told to leave town. The marriage was nullified in 1855." Posted by: Tuna at June 16, 2026 09:44 AM (lJ0H4) 97

I can admire Biard's talent and technique. The details are realistic, the colors are appropriate to the scene, and even the topics are easy for the viewer to identify with. There is a dynamism in the way he positions the people, as if caught in a moment but their movements will continue.
The second aspect that hit me is the humor. The people arrived ready for a fun time on the water. Then the seasickness starts. It's not horrible, just unwelcome and amusing to see if you aren't there. Each face and posture is very different as they react to the water movement. It reminds me of Norman Rockwell where each individual in the painting stands out and catches the viewer's eye. The slightly exaggerated facial expressions increase the similarity. I've seen a bunch of people plane sick though working in flight test. You never know who's going to wash out. The best is abrupt yaw rudder kick in modern swept low wing aircraft. Most of those have an active yaw damper. Why? To minimize coupled ductch roll which they are probably neutrally passive damped. Which some people can't take. And when you test, of course, you have to do some damper failed conditions. So you put in good rudder, not full but maybe 3/4, hold, deactivate the damper, and then release the stick, pedals, etc.. and let the plane respond. Seasickness at the Ball, on Board an English Corvette, 1857
François–Auguste Biard François-Auguste Biard (1799–1882) was a renowned French painter famous for his globe-trotting lifestyle and vivid depictions of extreme environments. His journeys spanned from the icy fjords of the Arctic to the heart of the Amazon, making him a true 19th-century artist-explorer. This painting playfully satirizes the rigid, upper-class rigidity of French society by thrusting them into a violently rolling ship. (So say references.) Dallas Museum of Art and AI Overview: It depicts a chaotic shipboard dance abruptly interrupted by rough waters, showcasing the varied, often comical reactions of 19th-century travelers to violent seasickness. Aha. Texas and the French. Would pass hanging but it's an interesting art lesson, and I'd like to see more of his body of work. The weightless training NASA plane has had a lot of clean ups. Posted by: polynikes at June 16, 2026 10:08 AM (GseMx) Strangly enough, roller coaster maneuvers aren't as rough. They are all in the longitudinal plane. You have to get pilots flying to avoid pilot induced oscillations as a result of the load factor but training will help that. Getting good clean test runs for roller coasters is the main problem. But test crew will generally get through those without hoarking. But neutrally damped dutch roll? It is a combination of movement in all axes, with pitch roll yaw not in phase. There are lags which cause your brain / body to go WHAT'S HAPPENING!! Turns out doing shots till 2 in the morning and then leaving to fish at 4 was not a great plan. Hindsight. Really narly morning with 3+ foot seas. Once the first guy ralphed it was free for all. It's included in the SPLC indictment: The indictment alleges Beirich was very close to the informant known only as “F-9” who “infiltrated the neo-Nazi organization National Alliance.” “[Beirich] was also in a romantic relationship with F-9. During this relationship, [Beirich] and F-9 shared a house and two bank accounts,” the indictment alleges. “Between 2015 and 2021, approximately $140,000 in donors’ money flowed from the SPLC operating account … and was ultimately deposited into the joint bank accounts held by F-9 and [Beirich]. “This amounted to approximately 66% of all money ever deposited into their joint bank accounts. More:
The indictment describes how a source broke into National Alliance’s headquarters in West Virginia in 2014 and “stole approximately 25 boxes of documents,” took them over state lines into North Carolina and copied them, before returning the originals. In 2015, Beirich wrote an article allegedly based on the stolen materials for her group’s “Hatewatch” section of its website. That article, “Chaos at the Compound,” is still available. The indictment then describes how the SPLC tried to cover up who their informant was by paying a second informant “approximately $6,000” to take responsibility for the burglary. At that time, she introduced the bipartisan Justice for Victims of Lynching Act in the U.S. Senate alongside Senators Cory Booker and Tim Scott to finally make lynching a federal crime. The phrase "attempted modern day lynching" was first used publicly on January 30, 2019, to describe the incident involving actor Jussie Smollett. This specific description was originated by prominent politicians, notably then-Senator Kamala Harris and Senator Cory Booker, shortly after Smollett claimed he was attacked in Chicago. It is the domestic LEFT who has adopted soccer to put one in the eye of the America loving rednecks. So..... sorry, you only have half the picture, and can't see it even though it's literally staring you in the face. You think "both sides" makes so much sense, because it does. And sometimes it REALLY IS "both sides". But then if you actually look instead of going for a predictable jump scare, you realize oh shit there's that same side politicizing everything again. I don't watch it now, but my BIL was a professional soccer player in both England and Australia ( I think the terms have changed, but he used to be called what was a . "Wing". I know enough about soccer to know that to play it well requires a lot of skill and it's quite different than a school game of "kickball" . There is no official, static count of Muslim players on European soccer teams, but hundreds of Muslims play professionally across the continent.
In elite leagues like the English Premier League, roughly 50 to 60 Muslim players feature regularly across its 20 clubs, and estimates suggest over 250 Muslim players compete across the top four tiers and their academies. The presence of Muslim players is deeply integrated into European football due to a highly globalized scouting network and waves of immigration from North Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey. Posted by: From about That Time at June 16, 2026 11:10 AM (sl73Y) In order to know what she was saying. That's the only reason I read them. I learn more from mental cases than normal people. Normal people are sheep and sheep tell you virtually nothing by design. Posted by: ... at June 16, 2026 11:11 AM (aBLnM) 376

I would definitely hand this, but I think it would be fun to hang it tilted to the left about 34°

@344 a possible connection in the two bomber crashes yesterday?
Damn shame Connery's gone and they killed off the movies. Sure as hell sounds like the opening scene of a Bond film. Fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas just listing the wide range of actors who have been depicted in bomber cockpits. That's the kind of Movie Thread I get a kick out of.
