Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Preparing for Thanksgiving - Gratitude![]() Tajikistan curbs the influence of islam and promotes Ancient Persian heritage as a state policy. This includes banning Arabic names, cousin marriages and long beards. It also includes promoting native clothes and dance. The West should take note. This costuming is rather attractive compared to what you see in Iran these days: From the beginning of this video, the celebration of the preservation of ancient Persian culture seems to be a big deal. Even though Russian is an official language in Tajikistan. A backstory begins to emerge: there were Arab invasions. Overview The authoritarian regime of President Emomali Rahmon, who has ruled since 1992, severely restricts political rights and civil liberties. The political opposition and independent media have been devastated by a sustained campaign of repression, and the government exerts tight control over religious expression and activity. Wealth and authority are concentrated in the hands of Rahmon and his family. Key Developments in 2024 Tens of thousands of Tajikistani migrant workers returned home or were deported from Russia in the months after a March terrorist attack at a concert hall in Moscow that killed nearly 150 people. The attack was claimed by an Afghanistan-based terrorist group, Islamic State Khorasan; Russian authorities attributed it to Tajikistani migrant workers and attempted to link them to Ukraine. The ensuing crackdown on migrants in Russia prompted many to leave, and those who remained faced increasing pressure to enlist in the Russian military. In July, Tajikistani and Kyrgyzstani delegations reported progress on the delimitation of their shared border. . . Legislation adopted by the parliament in May and signed by the president in June banned the import, sale, and wearing of clothes that are deemed to conflict with “national culture.” Violations would be punishable by fines. The law also imposed restrictions on certain religious, cultural, and family celebrations. Independent journalists continued to face persecution during the year. For example, Ahmad Ibrohim, editor in chief of the newspaper Payk, was arrested August on dubious charges of bribery, extortion, and extremism. The outcome of a closed-door trial was pending at year’s end. Tajikistani authorities persisted in their extensive efforts to detain and punish political dissidents who had sought refuge abroad. . .So, are you also grateful not to be in Tajikistan? Or Iran, where the ancient Persian culture in Tajikistan mostly does not seem to have survived? Any other countries you are particularly grateful not to be in today? ![]() Other things for which I am grateful I am grateful today that I am not Candace Owens
For the most part it was a pretty quiet week. Many longstanding stories continued to make headlines: the UN adopted President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza; the administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration continued, as did the Democrats’ lawlessness; and there were various shutdown post mortems. These topics did not gain the attention of meme-makers. Rather, this was the week of Jeffrey Epstein. Or, rather, the week when the Democrats got their wish, thousands of pages of Epstein documents were released, and the upshot was–as we already knew–that Epstein, a Democrat, had Democratic friends and hated Donald Trump. So the whole thing, from the Democrats’ standpoint, was an exploding cigar: ![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Nice. Lenin Peak, eh?
Lenin gets off the hook a bit too much because he was followed by Stalin. Dude was still a monster. He started the Cheka and urged that Terror was a legitimate tool for political reform. Posted by: Aetius451AD at November 22, 2025 11:19 AM (bss/y) 4

------------ Might want to think about doing that here. Enlisting in our military rather than be an illegal layabout. Bet it curbs a lot of the illegals from even thinking about crossing the border. Posted by: Martini Farmer at November 22, 2025 11:27 AM (NwnyJ) 17

I have to wonder if Trump agreeing to meet with Mandami was because he wanted to let him know that if he implements the things he wants to do that Trump will be taking his money out of NYC and putting it all somewhere else. And encouraging other successful businesses and business people to do the same.

Posted by: Martini Farmer at November 22, 2025 11:27 AM (NwnyJ) That's the problem the Hun had. Picking up lands occupied by swarthy foreigners, and when they tried to conscript them into the military, they wouldn't fight. So they came up with the brilliant idea of putting the kids in these places called schools. Started with the little kinders. It seemed to work at churning out loyal citizens of the state. So yeah, in a very real sense, we have already been using the same model here, for quite some time. Posted by: BurtTC at November 22, 2025 11:33 AM (8VpHb) 21

Apparently there's a significant grassroots movement in Iran that revolves around its great Achaemenid past, implicitly rejecting the islamic poisoning of Persian culture that came later. That's a hopeful sign.

How much is the Trump family fortune tied up into real-estate that is subject to all kinds of adverse action by the NYC Communist regime? Probably some of that. But I think there was strategery involved as well. Trump praised Mamdani as the leader of the Democrat Party. A communist halfwit who is destined to fail. Pretty stark contrast in the Oval Office. We aren't the only ones who know the midterms are coming next year. Which is why he was allowed to happen without too much fuss. But the problem is, there are different levels of oligarch, and ultimately most of the people in on this crap aren't in on the top level. Wait.
Our university professors admonished us that “all cultures are equal” or maybe more to the point, no culture is any better than any other. Or maybe specifically, the Western Civ is yucky and the rest of it. So who are we to criticise their culture? That would be “ethnocentric” or the preferred term today of “racist” or whatever opprobrium is de rigeur. I can’t keep up. Posted by: Common Tater at November 22, 2025 11:49 AM (IrAlb) 39

Trump's meeting with Mamdani... on the one hand, half his supporters think the mayor elect is selling out by meeting with the orange tyrant. The other half think Trump's going to co-opt him into abandoning all the socialist shit he's promised.
Either way, Trump has a huge personal, and financial stake in what goes down in The Big Apple. Probably a bit of a warning to Mamdani to not be stupid. Also, probably a waste of time. Posted by: Martini Farmer at November 22, 2025 11:50 AM (NwnyJ) 41
