Good afternoon and welcome to the almost world famous Ace of Spades Pet Thread. Thanks for stopping by. Kick back and enjoy the world of animals.

Would you like a treat?

Let's relax a little with the animals and leave the world of politics and current events outside today.

Thought about having little fishies in your back yard? Maybe some mosquito fish in the summer? You could make up some stories with the kids or grandkids.

Have a trampoline?

Meet The PetMorons

jq cat t.jpg

Hello. This is my Cat, on the deck rail one evening. Took the shot with a flip-phone and was surprised at how well it turned out. Cat's true identity will remain secret, LOL.

Love the pet thread, it's one of the highlights of my week!

Thanks, JQ! What a perfect photo for the season!

Sejong DSCN7390.JPG

Name is Sejong, we took him in when my sister spent a week in the Hospital, and I couldn't leave a month old kitten alone at her place

Then my wife fell in love with him.

He is about three months old, and is growing like a weed, and unfortunately is still at that stage of being part velociraptor.
The old lady cats are not sure what to do about him besides complain.

Kindltot

What a charmer!

5 Awww, beautiful pet morons!

The squirrels on the trampoline was great. I love seeing wildlife having fun with our toys.

I have done a cat update #336 on our cats for anyone interested.

Since you are a Perfessor I’m guessing you have to deal with the other end of the horse otherwise known as students. How did George do?

18 So one of the dogs we are babysitting was feeling really hyper and playful. She was grabbing every toy she could and throwing them around.

My dog Kroger took issue with her grabbing his head and we had to quickly intervene.

23 Happy Félicette Day!

Félicette, The First Cat In Space

"On October 18, 1963, a cat named Félicette went where none of her feline ancestors had gone before: nearly 100 miles up into the sky. Riding in a container in the nose of a rocket, the slim tuxedo cat soared through the atmosphere, then landed safely back on Earth a quarter of an hour later."

25 What's with tattoos on the kids that work in the grooming rooms at Petco and PetSmart?

I walked our six-year-old 19-1/2 pounds red-headed tri-color corgi Lily into Petco yesterday for a wash and nails, and was greeted by four well-decorated ladies. Arms, necks, and who knows what where else.

They were warm and friendly, and loved meeting Lily. I told them hey love your tats, can I tell you about body decor?

I had been reading that wonderful book "1491" which tells all about who lived in north and south america before the Columbian discovery, and told them about what the pilgrims observed. I know, I know, pilgrims came way after 1491, but the author needed to go there to establish some points about the mindset of the locals.

The indian men were tattooed on their arms, and most of the young braves and kids shaved their heads of hair, front hairline back maybe to mid-head, and entire right side (to keep hair away from bowstring, left if left-handed), and the remaining lock, rear and other side, was long like a horse's mane.

Face decor, and this was not warpaint, just decor, often consisted of a wide black stripe from chin up face and to hair line.

The girls though this cool.

28 @22 KT.

A cold front moved through the Dallas/Fort Worth area bringing wind, rain, lighting. The front moved through Corsicana and surrounding areas. Hope everything's ok.

Posted by: Case at October 18, 2025 04:28 PM (9HFDU)

29 Afternoon, pet-tish people,

JQ, the silhouette of Cat looks very much like that of my late black Wolf and a couple of my other longhairs. And Kindltot, Sejong looks not a little like gray Dagny La Sibierienne.

Fenelon mentioned this morning that she saw a big handsome Siberian cat at the vet the other day, but didn't catch his name. There's a long tradition (since they came to America in 1990, at least) of giving Siberians Russian names; hence my own "Tatiana Romanova" and "Chekov." I broke with that by giving Dagny a Norwegian name. Though I did tuck "Sophia" in there, for her Russian-named mother.

Big black Stirling was sleeping with me during my nap just now. Then he followed me out and slid into my lap, nestling in the crook of my arm and tilting his big head up for petting. He doesn't stay long on my lap at any one time these days; he's too grown up to act like a kitten that way. But he's hardly aloof.

32 What breed is Zack?

Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at October 18, 2025 04:45 PM (63Dwl)

33 Sejong looks like he might be Maine Coon, or part Coon. The size of his ears and the tufts inside are very Coon-ish. He has a lot more white on his face than Dagny does; she looks much wilder, in some ways like an Asian Pallas's Cat, than does the average house feline.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at October 18, 2025 04:51 PM (omVj0)

34 Today we went to a church rummage sale and then a outdoor market in the suburban town just to the southwest of us. No pet stuff that I could discern -- at least none worth bringing home.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at October 18, 2025 04:58 PM (omVj0)

35 One of our outdoor cats was inside last night. They'll sometimes come inside, if for no other reason than to check stuff out.

He stayed for 5 hours.

On my chest. While I slept. Sort of.

Posted by: Martini Farmer at October 18, 2025 05:10 PM (Q4IgG)

36 Stirling sleeps with me nearly every afternoon, and most mornings when I wake I find him next to me. Dagny will show up on the bed about half the time, afternoon or morning.
