It looks like a rejected Arrow shirt company ad or a bad illustration from The Great Gatsby. Another case of 'modern' art that leaves the public saying 'So what' no matter what art critics declare.

I know I hide it well but I'm not a fan.

I liked my civilian job, and most of my co-workers, for a good bit. Being in tech, in Austin, the blue people were always loud and proud but mostly it wasn't too bad. Then the rainbow people took over and things started going downhill. Then the finance bros got into power and absolutely everything went to shit. I'd have left but I knew the clock was ticking toward retirement and it didn't seem to be worth the effort for an old, white guy to try and find a new tech job for a bit over a year.

Still... I'll walk away with a smile on my face and never look back.

My besties retired a couple of years ago. Sold the business and moved to the Keys. They were back last week for a visit and he told me of the torture he was going through building shelves in the garage and other Herculean tasks that used to take an hour and now last for days.

We used to get up a 4 am, go fishing for a couple hours and then go to work. And then put up shelves in the garage.

I'm convinced that when you retire you get a script that makes you say "I've never been so busy!".

4 take a cookie break
5 remember you have to change the bulb now
