14 That Golden above with his mommy's pregnancy...totally how our son's has been. Well, the one who is in heaven.

The girl Golden they have now is a bit looney, as she came to live with a 9mo old and toddler. The result is crazy when we visit, but she may be ok without us (she bonded with me as a puppy, she thinks).

She'll be put to the test soon as the 3rd is en route.

My DIL took a photo of their Bailey Boy next to her sleeping 3mo old son. She was in the shower. His look was saying, "Well YOU were not watching him, so I am!" He looked po'd at her.

Usually, I find the big back, chest and leg stuff easier (also more forgiving of form- except squats.)

May have to try doing more back stuff.

Spent two hours mowing the back acreage today. Took a beating because while the ground is level, it's not smooth. Plus it was about 95 degrees out there.

I have been fairly good at starting at a low weight and working my way up. Since I am not in a public gym, I do not feel like every 10 pounds adds .1 inches to my dick.

That is the compound at the end. Also have elevated squats, because those are awesome and it forces you into the right position. Plus some renegade rows, planking, and table top with a weight behind the knee for glutes. It should be fun!

75 I want to get back to 'Convict Conditioning' once I'm fully done taking care of all if the house stuff - goal August 15th. I was making great gains and still have muscle.

Thanks to 6 months of crazy level stress, I'm about 3 or 4 pounds from my goal weight.

I sent one of my Mother's dearest friends 2 large boxes today. They were in the convent together and probably knew each other for 60 years. She wanted something to remember Mom by so I sent her purse, sunglasses, CD's and most of all my Mother's address books, all of her greeting cards, stickers, and photocopied jokes and stories Mom would include in her cards.

I'm sure she'll love all that.

I'm in Canada, she's in Michigan, we're both just out of gunshot range of Detroit, but postage was still $80. Which was fine. A buck something for each year of friendship. No biggie.

I understand ...

A couple of things:

1) Learn to brace correctly, and wear a belt.
2) Buildup tension in your Hammies by extending your ass back as far as you can, before starting the pull.
3) That move will put your lower back into extension properly.
4) Pull the slack out of the bar before you try to break the bar from the floor.

You might video your lift from the side on so that you can see if you really are losing tightness. What you "feel" can be way different than what is actually happening.

But Bracing and a Belt is where I'd start if you're concerned.

Form is very important in the deadlift. Watch some videos that break it down and give tips. Use light weights to dial in the feel, and then gradually increase.

Thats my attitude. I don't even jump on the harley during peak summer. Its been hotter than satan's ass crack out there. As far as the yard goes, I have the yard cut now. I used to like cruising around on the ride on mower at the old house. It was a half acre, half of it shaded. The yard is a lot bigger now, mostly in the sun. Now I have people used to living on the equator do it. They come in with the mower from hell and are gone in 15 minutes.

My yard is really bumpy too. And it's a corner lot, pretty large with tons of trees and statues. Idid have someone roll it with a smaller roller a few years ago. It was alright.

The biggest difference was when the old mower died. I wanted a cheap mower that would have make a blade spin after pulling the cord. I didn't need or want anything else.

The mower is about 25lbs. It's so much easier to mow the yard than with the heavier mower. I love that thing.

Stronglifts 5 x 5 is also a solid program. I like the addition of dead lifts. My issue with Starting Strength is barbell cleans. IMO that is a more advanced lift and unless your form is dialed in you're risking injury.

"Convict Conditioning" has increasing levels of difficulty for 6 basic exercises. Each has 10 levels.

Bodyweight exercises can be made increasingly more difficult. Squats develop into one-legged squats. Push-ups, prison style, become one armed push-ups. Additionally, you can slow exercises down. And there are other ways to make the exercises tougher.

I used to lift. Just free weights at home. Nothing major. But I got tired of minor injuries. I love body-weight exercises though.

The guy who started 5x5 basically lifted SS's 3x5 program, and he tweaked it to 5x5, and dropped the Cleans.

I don't Clean either, and Rip doesn't advocate Cleans for "29" y/o's or infirmed folks.

He does advocate for progressive loading over time regardless of age.

But whether you do 5x5 ... 3x5 ... Barbell Medicines apoproach, or RPS ...

I have all three books. Book 2 was interesting because he wrote more about prison, working out on prison food and what it was like in the yard. He did change my thinking about protein and the remaining Whey protein I have left.

In the prison yard, the barbells were welded so they couldn't be used as weapons. So if you benched 180lbs or whatever it was, your next barbell set was 45 or 90 pounds heavier. No incremental increases. And he talked a lot about the people on steroids in prison which was interesting too.

225 When I used to take the Metro from Northern Virginia into D.C., there was an escalator in the Vienna station that went out of service while a crew disassembled it for routine maintenance. I bought a lot in a subdivision and had a house built in the time it took for those guys to get that escalator back up and running (approximately five months). So, was this due to the fact that Metro had an exclusive contract with one maintenance company that hired union employees, or are escalators more complicated than nuclear power plants?

I found pictures of my Mom in full nun outfits which was weird to see. And I sent a picture of my mother with me to my friend. It was in the 70's. Mom was showing a lot of leg.

Interestingly enough, I don't recall Wade ever talking about burpees when burpees are a prison staple. I too have all three books. I doubt I'll ever be doing flags or planches, but at least I can hopefully work up to doing a decent set of pull-ups. I also refer to Al Kavadlo's materials when needed.

Car batteries have been decreasing in quality for years. A 5-year warranty wasn't hard to get. Now 2 or 3 seems the norm.

I replaced one in Feb., and it just died 2-yr warranty. Fortunately the refunded it, and I got a 3-yr from Costco for less than half price (they were out when I needed it in Feb.).

AGMs are probably a better battery, but most cars regulate the voltage to less than the 14.4 they really need to charge.

Another issue is the 'smart' alternators a number of cars come with these days, that adjust their output voltage to the draw, leading to (wait for it) chronically undercharged batteries, which is a battery killer. One trick there is always drive with your parking lights on, which will generally make the 'smart' alternator put out enough to charge the battery.

If you mean the fog lights, the yellow ones down within the bumper, I often do leave them on -- esp. early in the morning or at night, or in rain or fog. They don't let me see much more of the road than do the headlights (which are quite good), but I hope they make the Buick more noticeable. It's a ruby red color, which in low light looks nearly black and makes the sedan hard to see.

The harness and connector were charred, so he was reluctant to put my replacement panel in, but I didn't expect the repair to be warranted, and the damage didn't look that bad to me, electrically speaking, so I said put it in. So far it's been working fine! Lucky I got the right part for it.

I had to do something similar for the '03 Buick Park Avenue when I had it, about thirteen years ago. Darn, that was a nice car; sometimes I wonder why I traded it for the newer Buick Regal. The churchwardens, they're called. Cool-looking, and as JTB will testify, they are fine for sitting in your armchair and reading while you smoke. Otherwise they seem kind of awkward to me. But I've never had one.

I did once have a calabash, the big curved pipe made from a gourd with a meerschaum bowl. Some actors playing Sherlock Holmes have used them as a prop, including Jeremy Brett. Again, it's an awkward pipe to work with. Nowadays I seem to prefer nice straight pipes like the ones Faulkner was fond of.

Problem is much of that area is out of range as in, no cell service. They wouldn’t know anything unless someone taps them on the shoulder.

I doubt they have a short wave radio and if they did, the weather here is glorious, they would have no reason to really pay attention. My hope is they check in with a nautical radio station reporting tides and currents and they hear something from there.

We had a 9.2 here in Southcentral Alaska back in '64.

The signs are still clearly visible in many places... miles of dead trees killed by saltwater because the coastal land sank, to name one.

I rode out a 7.1 with an epicenter maybe five miles away from me back in 2018. I'm pretty blase about earthquakes... we get perceptible ones several times a year.

I'm not ashamed to admit that one scared the shit out me.

I don't even want to think about magnitudes 8 or 9.
