Odda, Norway

Dog is happy that his master is home.

Failed service dog dropped out of service dog school. He's supposed to "boop" you with your nose when he detects stress or anxiety. Instead he just boops you when he wants something. TBH that's how I'd play it, too.

Before Atari, there was Telstar.

Sea otters washing up.

This evil river otter is just trying to trick you with his false cuteness.

I don't even want to know what's going on in this polymorphously perverse sex pile.

A cat reenacts his favorite part of Fight Club.

The cycle of violence.

A toddler girl, a tricycle, and a teddy-bear dog.

Lions in the ocean.

This is how I've felt every day this week.

Snake demonstrates the proper technique for climbing the gym rope.

ICYMI: Senior dachshund stays active.

Evil river otter interferes with the gardening.

Hedgehog and her babies.

Kitchy-kitchy-coo.

The cat relies on skill and speed. The dog relies on pure mass.

Steve Inman:

Solid citizen gets some Edison Medicine.

A Person, Place, or Thing brings a gun to a car fight.

Porch Pirate encounters his nemesis, Stoop Vigilante.

At least in my part of Canada, when cable was being rolled out in the 80's or whenever, they carried Detroit news.

And Detroit was 'Murder City - USA' at the time. I'm sure that shaped attitudes towards guns.

My Mother was born and raised there. The house later became a drug house and was eventually razed. Everything Democrats touch turns to shit...

110 And Detroit was 'Murder City - USA' at the time. I'm sure that shaped attitudes towards guns.

My Mother was born and raised there. The house later became a drug house and was eventually razed. Everything Democrats touch turns to shit... - Stateless

I did a semester at the University of Detroit (now University of Detroit/Mercy, I believe) in 1973. Coleman Young hadn't been elected yet, as I recall, and although the city had already started its economic and social decline (I think it was the murder capital that year, too), it wasn't as bad as it would eventually become.

I liked my brief time there. Saw Mickey Lolich pitch a 2-1 victory over Milwaukee at Tiger Stadium, and went to a few U of D Titan basketball games (the team was coached by Dick Vitale at the time). There was a great hot dog place within walking distance - can't remember the name, something with a Greek name - and I really enjoyed the hamburgers at the White Tower restaurant (they had a slight peppery taste).

There's a small podunk town in West Virginia called Bramwell (Bram-ull). It was o0nce full of wealth from the coal mines. Huge river rock homes and the like. Beautiful. So much wealth the high school teams were called the Bramwell Millionaires. It's very ironic considering how the the little burg is now.

We've been plagued with Texas Rat Snakes for the last three weeks getting into the egg boxes and eating eggs. A couple of nights ago there were two in the egg box. The biggest was over 6 1/2 ft. long. S/he was fairly docile, the 5 footer was a bit more feisty.

I relocate them, but I'm beginning to wonder if at least one or two are finding their way back.

And yes, they eat chicken eggs. What part of "Rat" have they forgotten about?

How to handle adverse relationship moments that are going sideways:

Affirm (Oh, I see, that is terrible/ important/ meaningful/ wrong)
Re-orient (This is what I saw, and here are some receipts to back it up and you know I love you and really want to make us happy)
Re-direct (next time you see this starting, tell me so we can fix this together / I can focus on this too / we can run away quickly, but we need to figure out how to communicate this)
Encourage (I love you Honey, my heart breaks when I see you pissed off at me)

it helps if you mean it. If you don't it will eventually show and she will retaliate. It is important that she not be insane. If she is insane you are on your own.

I thought you guys were talking about this Telstar:

The first one, Telstar 1, was taken out by Starfish Prime, a high altitude nuke test. It was EMP as we think about it, but the mess of charged particles released and swirled around by the earth's magnetic field.

That also took out a Brit comm satellite.

I have often wondered if you could make an underwater version of a pulse-jet engine by casting a sodium lining into a length of steel pipe, fit a nozzle on one end, and a flapper-style inlet valve on the other. Would it work to drive a torpedo?

A marriage can have different breaking points. Yours is the most common.

My ex was of Hispanc background, Central America and Argentina. She spoke 5 languages. She looked very Hispanic but her English could slip back to Brooklynese.

After 3 years of dating and two years of marriage the ex made the declaration I 'looked too American' to travel overseas with her. I immediately asked, 'What the hell is wrong with looking too Amercan? I am an American and proud of it!'

The beginning of the end.

Persoanl experience: mixed bag.

Female NCO when I was in Germany was horrid. Kept me and my buddy from being promoted to E-4. Why? She hated white people. Funny thing, my buddy was half Korean. New NCO replaced her, and got us promoted quickly, and also got us the rewards that were left on her desk.

I got over it, but she was a hateful bitch, and I have no idea why she hated us so much.

yeah, men can be assholes too. But, dang, she dashed any deisre to reenlist. I just wanted to get the fuck out.

The problem with this, not unlike the Red Flag laws, is it gives power to people who shouldn't necessarily have it.

Everyone around here is always ragging on pee sigh chiatrists. Well, now they can lock you up.
