Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant: Minimalist EditionAmerican Exceptionalism! What a grand and glorious thing...driven by (among other things) the self selection of exactly who comes here. Until fairly recently it was incredibly difficult just to arrive on our shores. Weeks or months-long voyages with no guarantee that one would survive the trip, only to arrive in America and have to fend for one's self. No immigrant support system for 16th (or 17th or 18th or 19th or even 20th) century arrivals! And imagine the decision to leave Bavaria or Prussia or Ireland or Holland or Sweden or Poland or Russia Italy or any of the other sclerotic and rigid countries that sent its most adventurous and brave citizens to our shores. Nothing was sure for these people; it was a great unknown, they knew it would be incredibly difficult, yet they did it! And the result is the greatest country in the history of the world. Sure, there are places with better discrete things. Mass transit is one: I'll take the London underground or the Paris Metro any day over the NYC or San Francisco or Chicago transit systems. And European trains are great! French and Italian food? Ooh la la! The list goes on and on, but add them all up, and what do you get? Because you have to consider everything, not just the good stuff in Europe and the rest of the developed world. Count everything, like our incredible physical beauty, and amazing room for everything, and our freedom to do whatever the hell we want, which is buttressed by our flawed but still amazing Constitution, not to mention big washing machines and great air conditioning and big cars and endless vistas and huge houses and great barbecue and an absolutely incredible ethos that makes the low trust societies of most countries on earth a miserable and pale and diminished reflection of us. The United States of America is the greatest country in the world! Yet there are many among us who see this wonderful place as irredeemably broken, and a place to sneer at and mock and yes...hate.![]() Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Only 36% of them are proud of their country?
The official take on American History by the left is that we are uniquely evil. It is a stupid take...but...that's what they claim to believe. And the funniest part of it is the left will claim, for example, that Clinton's America was a racist, homophobic nightmare...while they honor Bill Clinton as a great humanitarian...and feminist hero. This incredible depression on the part of Democrats is, I believe, the best marker yet of the fact that our side has won the long fight. (there's a whole lot of mopping up to do, years worth of course) They're not just depressed because they've lost; they now hate "America" because they've given up hope that things will ever be different. They know their glory days are gone, and all they have left is the endless depression of the defeated.
Really the best they can do is drop out of politics, stop reading the news, and try to live a normal simple life with family. (alienated all your family? well sucks to be you , I guess) Posted by: Tom Servo at July 01, 2025 11:06 AM (uWKK8) 19

Yes at least half of independents are just leftards but even so I would be remiss if I pretended I still got all fuzzy at the Anthem and apple pie. This country, through its power brokers, cheaters and liars, has revealed what it is, and it's not pretty. It is also not deserving of our unconditional love. We may love its people, but if we're being honest we don't really love *all* it's people anymore. Or at least, I don't. So what do we love? The soldiers? Fine. But that's not the country, just part of it, even if a big one. The police? Sorry that ship sailed on beaches and in parks during covid. The workers? Ok that's like a third of the people, and a third of those are commie idiots who want you silenced or dead. So yeah - the chart is clear. Posted by: ... at July 01, 2025 11:17 AM (VPwHp) 74

All you have to do to let the Left come charging back is to stop fighting them. Unlike Haman, who plotted to kill all the Jews in the Persian Empire just because one old Jew, Mordechai, wouldn’t bow down and worship him, our foes are many, and firmly convinced of several contradictory ideas at once, all of them inimical to the American way of life. And while we don’t have Esther in the palace, we do have Donald Trump in the White House, for a while. Remain vigilant! Never let up! And may God preserve America against her attackers!

ActBlue, the Dem Party’s prized fundraising platform, is now officially facing serious heat after years of allegations about shady donations, money laundering, and foreign interference. Top executives have now been subpoenaed by Congress. There’s nowhere left to run.
It appears that massive amounts of taxpayer money have been funneled through USAID and Dem-aligned NGOs. The money is missing, and allegations are that Biden’s Treasury Department was trying to cover it all up. It’s a really scary notion: the artery of the Dem fundraising machine is now being investigated as a criminal enterprise, with foreign money, stolen identities, and election interference all swirling around it. The Bryan Kohberger plea deal is odd. Nothing about the case made any sense. I thought there was a good chance the guy would get off. The prosecution's case seemed thin, at least what was publicly available.
What was the guy's motive? I get it that there are just insane people in the world, but even true loonies like Ed Gein have some motive. As far as I know, the prosecution in this case never offered a motive. I still think it's highly unlikely that one guy could hack up four people -- including an adult male -- and escape without a trace of the crime. The only non-circumstantial evidence the prosecution had was a tiny bit of DNA left on a knife sheath at the crime scene. Anyway, this tragedy is at an end, although the families of the victims will never be the same. Posted by: Elric The (One and Only) Blade at July 01, 2025 11:30 AM (iFTx/) 130

Very interesting chart, CBD. One of the things that is clear is that no matter who is in office, Republicans have a consistent overwhelming faith in America. Democrats, on the other hand, have a love of America that waxes and wanes depending upon who's in power. What's also consistent about Dems is that they have much less faith in America as a group than Republican do; Rs had 30-40% more of it than Dems most of the time, and they have almost triple (!!) the faith than Dems do this year.

Yea it was. I feel that they are my enemy who wishes to take down my country and has an ulterior motive behind everything they do.
I wasn't raised with necessarily conservative values. I was raised to be honest, care for others, apply the golden rule. That the United States of America was the best nation on earth and that I was blessed to have been born here. That hard work would get me ahead. Remembering Ted Bundy and the Chi Omega Murders
May 15, 2024 FSA Blogs By David Brand Law Enforcement Coordinator, Florida Sheriffs Association It begins, In January 1978, evil visited Tallahassee in the form of a psychopathic stalker who was later identified as one of the most vicious serial killers in modern history. On January 15, 1978, around 4:00 am, a phone call awakened me at home. As a young Tallahassee Police detective, I was used to receiving calls in the middle of the night. However, this call was different. My lieutenant was calling to tell me there had been multiple homicides at the Chi Omega sorority house at FSU and to respond there immediately. This was the beginning of the saga of serial killer Ted Bundy’s reign of horror in Tallahassee. Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at July 01, 2025 12:00 PM (NFX2v) 309

I was lapsed for 40 years and I'm only now realizing how profoundly damaging that was, both horizontally and vertically. I can conceive of a God that notices all your mistakes but not One to whom I can bring all my troubles; He told you what to do, so go do it.
Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh ========= For me, a distinction between the Holy Spirit and Jesus is that Jesus is our interlocutor and advocate with us to the Father. A High Priest of the order of Melchizedek for all time but at the same time approachable as a worldly friend as he lived a human life and understands the pull of sin and the tendency to do wrong. One of the benefits of Catholicism though is the confession as you can unburden your soul while receiving firm but fair guidance. All of us feel low and unworthy at times but your care for your show dogs and empathy for others is a reflection of your faith and does a credit to you here. Pray to Jesus himself and you might be surprised that he listens and responds even to those that believe themselves lost. Remember the Prodigal Son metaphor. It's not only about the people that come to this country bringing their Commie/socialist ways with them but also the media, and the terrible politicians we have these days. We all know the media is far left and pushes their ideas on how the country should be run. And we have politicians that are against our system of government. They don't want to "serve" the people, they want the people to serve them. At least half of them are crooks and liars. It pains me to say it but it's true. Our so called leaders are just out for themselves. They don't give a crap about this country, only themselves. A good example is the Biden family. Posted by: night lifted ====== That is true of most government malfeasance. If the people who proposed and supported such legislation had to personally pay for it, then the incidence of such self serving moral twattery would be much less. For example, 'refugee' groups would be a lot more picky if they were personally and organizationally financially and criminally liable for their charges. Skin in the game is a wonderful concept that abruptly causes a lot of vacant moralist civic virtue signally and grifting mentality to pay for the costs of their actions. Posted by: night lifted ======== Yes but that ruling can be appealed by any senator (aka appeal to the chair) and then a majority has to vote to sustain the ruling. Recently, this has become the new version of the nuclear option since Harry Reid employed it in 2013. The ruling by the parliamentarian using the Byrd rule requires 60 votes as per current Senate Rules to overrule unless the nuclear option of the majority to kill the filibuster changes that parliamentarian ruling.
