Russia will fund the construction of a new nuclear plant in Iran, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said at the closing ceremony of the 18th Joint Economic Cooperation Commission on Friday.
The two countries will undertake "the construction of new nuclear energy facilities and the completion of phases two and three of the Bushehr power plant using Moscow's credit line," Paknejad said.
Russia has helped Iran build its first nuclear reactor at Bushehr, in the south of the country.
Paknejad's comments came as US and Iran officials met in Oman on Saturday for a third round of nuclear talks. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff held the talks in Muscat through Omani mediators, a week after a second round of talks took place in Rome that both sides described as constructive.
Expert indirect talks took place in Muscat to design a framework for a potential nuclear day prior to the lead negotiators' meeting.

Zoo Korkeasaari has quit the nearly 13-year-old Amur tiger Tamuri. Tamur lived in Korkeasaari for 11 years, the zoo says in a Facebook post.
The decision to kill a highly endangered animal is justified by reproduction. In the summer, a junior amur tiger male from Germany is coming to Korkeasaari, chosen as the companion of Tamuri’s descendant, Odeya female.
They wanted a peaceful start to a young male in Korkeasaari.
In nature, a young and old male would struggle for his territory. According to Korkeasaari, organising such a competition would not be good for animals.

With vaccination rates among US kindergarteners steadily declining in recent years and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. vowing to reexamine the childhood vaccination schedule, measles and other previously eliminated infectious diseases could become more common. A new analysis published today by epidemiologists at Stanford University attempts to quantify those impacts.
Using a computer model, the authors found that with current state-level vaccination rates, measles could reestablish itself and become consistently present in the United States in the next two decades. Their model predicted this outcome in 83 percent of simulations. If current vaccination rates stay the same, the model estimated that the US could see more than 850,000 cases, 170,000 hospitalizations, and 2,500 deaths over the next 25 years. The results appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

I recently went to a baptism in a parish in a farther out suburb, well to do area. Again, most of the attendees were not old, and the church was pretty full.

They wouldn’t have considered Buddhism or African tribal practices as anything other than paganism. Which was a major faux pas. Enlightened people did not worship nymphs and nature.

Islam is sort of a heretical offshoot of Christianity, but it likely would not have been considered much more than a curiosity.

Driving across Houston does feel like you are in a time warp, where time slooooooows. It takes me a bit over three hours every October to drive from my location just north of the Houston-Galveston county line to the Best Western in Corsicana. One hour just to get from the south edge of Houston to the northern edge. Feels like half a day.

180 Mowed the lawn today for the first time this year. Between the riding mower breaking down at an inopportune time and the weather not cooperating, the grass had a chance to get extra long in spots. It took a while, as it's a big lawn.

When I moved in almost 30 years ago, it was mid-May, and the previous owners had been busy moving and hadn't bothered to mow yet. My first Saturday in my new home, I spent all day with a walk-behind mower in foot-tall grass. Monday, I went to Sears and bought my first riding mower.

I remember making the trip back in the days of 55 mph: I saw a Mustang coming up from behind me, doing better time than me. I was doing 65 mph, the road was built for it. The Mustang caught up to me, and instead of passing me, pulled me over! It was a stealth cop car. I was polite to the county fund raiser and accepted my ticket, which I duly paid. I repaired on to El Paso at 55 mph, and didn’t speed up until I had left Texas. At one time Arizona used to let you go at any speed you could handle on a deserted desert highway - not Texas! I can’t do 55! Unless I have to.

Coming in late after hiking 3.6 miles again in the Portola Hills above Irvine. Very nice evening hike with cool temps (60's) and light breeze. Tons of mustard in the hills right now, the hillsides are all yellow and green. In another month or two they'll dry out to brown until winter rains.

I did a 1.8 mile and 450' elevation gain in a respectable (for me) twenty five to thirty minutes.

Comes under the rubric of "knowingly publishing false news". If a fabrication is published in such a manner that the intent of the publisher is to make consumers of the "news" believe it to be fact, then that should be criminal.
