Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | France Convicts Marie Le Pen of Fake Embezzlement, Bans Her From Running in 2027, an Election In Which She is the Front-RunnerWhere have I seen this tactic before? Auron MacIntyreCNN claims she's just a "figurehead" so this isn't an attack on democracy, you see. The imprisonment is on hold. The thing they really wanted- - banning her from running -- is imposed immediately, even during her appeal. Europe is a totalitarian hellhole and we should no longer spend a dime defending it. Her party, National Rally (RN), was ordered to pay 2 million Euros in fines for the 4.1 million Euros that it was accused of embezzling. The court's presiding judge, Bénédicte de Perthuis, said Le Pen's actions amounted to a "serious and lasting attack on the rules of democratic life in Europe, but especially in France." She said Le Pen's immediate ban on standing for office was tied to "democratic public unrest" that would result from the election of a person convicted of embezzlement. But the decision itself looks set to spark significant unrest. Jordan Bardella, Le Pen's protégé who succeeded her as RN's president, said it was not only Le Pen "who is being unjustly condemned: it is French democracy that is being executed." Marion Maréchal, Le Pen's niece and a Member of the European Parliament for a rival far-right party, said her aunt had "led our side on the path to victory. This is her only guilt, and that is why she is condemned." Calm and composed as she entered the court on Monday, greeting supporters, Le Pen grew increasingly agitated, shaking her head as the court president spent more than an hour detailing the embezzlement scheme. "The question therefore arises in a singular way in this criminal case which makes its decision 'in the name of the French people.' The court must not ignore the requirement to seek a social consensus," the presiding judge said. De Perthuis said her fellow judges had weighed the "two risks" in their sentencing: the risk of a person convicted for embezzlement being elected for political office and the "major risk to public order" if a likely presidential candidate was banned from running. ... Le Pen had branded the case against her a "witchhunt," mirroring language that US President Donald Trump used against legal proceedings that targeted him. Her right-wing European allies also quickly rallied to her defense after the decision. "Je suis Marine," Viktor Orban, Hungary's prime minister and a champion of socially conservative politics in Europe, posted on X following the conviction, with Italian far-right leader and Matteo Salvini slamming the decision. CBS News: France's far-right leader Le Pen sentenced to prison and banned from office in embezzlement trial. Until this week, Le Pen had looked like the likeliest winner in France's next presidential election set for 2027, but she was found guilty Monday by a court of embezzling European Union funds.
While Le Pen may yet successfully appeal the sentence — it will not be applied until she has exhausted all avenues of appeal... Wow a country where judges go after corrupt criminal leaders. Amazing. May France's example (again) spread to our shores. Obviously, we don't deserve that Statue of Liberty right now, but... Why can't we do this? Seems like a country like the US of A should be able to enforce the law & hold criminals responsible. Just my humble opinion. Who would want a far-right-wing criminal running their country anyway? Their "short term fix" strategy is not going to work in the long run. This does nothing other than unite, strengthen, and motivate the populist/nationalist movement. We saw that in the US. It's currently happening in Germany (AfD was blip a year ago, now, today they are 3% points behind the most popular party in Germany...that's after being 8% points behind on election day). Guess what happens next.
Make no mistake, the intelligence communities are in full cooperative mode. But, as they are all staffed by Utopian academics, they don't understand that their solution is going to boomerang back very very hard. They should be trying to make the nationalist leaders appear to be globalists instead of trumped up legal charges. That would dissolve the movement. But, they don't understand how it works when people have strong opinions contrary to their own. Posted by: Orson at March 31, 2025 01:37 PM (dIske) 117

Posted by: Ripley =========== Corrupt aristocracies are according to Aristotle, one of the worst forms of government to live under and when they inevitably fail--usually a despotism or a democracy succeeds them which fall in turn. Basically El Supremo leader has to sleep, worry about personal safety, etc. that constrain their appetites somewhat. A bunch of aristocrats may have their own limits on their appetites but as a class they become insatiable for power and money. Democracies have no limitations of their appetites which is why they become unstable in short order by thinking because a majority exists, that majority can change realities of human existence. That, in turn, inevitably leads to failure blamed on minorities and dissidents which then leads to a civil war. Posted by: whig at March 31, 2025 01:56 PM (ctrM5) 240

There were strong majorities against gay marriage almost everywhere, even in leftwing areas. Then the left rammed it through illegally and that opposition disappeared. - Back in olden days when I was in law school, they told us that the only real power courts had was that people thought they had power and if people stopped thinking it, they would stop having it. You misunderstand how and why the Rules of Civil Procedure power was delegated to the Courts. Those rules are actually a combination and codification of court ruling along with statutory changes. Article III mentions, "The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish." which is a specific enumerated power. So, to understand court power constitutionally, you have to look back to English courts for guidance both Common and Equity. Injunctions, TROs, etc. come from Equity powers while Common law powers came from writs of various sorts--writ of habeas corpus being the most famous among them. So, courts have the judicial power to establish doctrines like ripeness, mootness, political question, etc. as part of their judicial power. Since following endless caselaw regarding evidence, procedures, etc. involve constitutional questions, Congress decided to delegate so that one system of rules was used rather than patchwork statutory + constitutional rulings be in one place. Congress can and does change by statute some of those rules at times. Posted by: whig at March 31, 2025 02:07 PM (ctrM5) 297

There was much more social cohesion back then (despite that period of time being the first mass immigration in to the country, we're now living through the second one), and, you know, the factory workers lived in the same town as the factory owners. So there was much more social pressure on the wealthy to give back, or the pitchforks would come out. Now, mostly thanks to technology and our integrated global economy, the robber baron types can live their entire lives without having to interact with the peasants in any meaningful way and they don't give a shit what we think. Letters from Brutus XI
"The judicial power will operate to effect, in the most certain, but yet silent and imperceptible manner, what is evidently the tendency of the constitution:–I mean, an entire subversion of the legislative, executive and judicial powers of the individual states. Every adjudication of the supreme court, on any question that may arise upon the nature and extent of the general government, will affect the limits of the state jurisdiction. In proportion as the former enlarge the exercise of their powers, will that of the latter be restricted. . . . When the courts will have a president [precedent] before them of a court which extended its jurisdiction in opposition to an act of the legislature, is it not to be expected that they will extend theirs, especially when there is nothing in the constitution expressly against it? and they are authorised to construe its meaning, and are not under any controul? This power in the judicial, will enable them to mould the government, into almost any shape they please." Posted by: whig at March 31, 2025 02:12 PM (ctrM5) 324

I installed OpenVPN on it as the sole external entry point to my network. I installed No-IP updater on it so I could use a dynamic DNS service because I don't want to pay for a fixed IP. I set up OpenVPN so it only takes cert logins, no passwords. I setup Fail2Ban so anyone who tries to login gets insta-blocked. I setup Nextcloud so I can access files from my server from anywhere. I think people are missing the big picture here. Yes, obviously, there is a massive, mind blowing amount of corruption in DC. On that, we can all agree. But USAID was spending taxpayer dollars to actively go against the interests of the American middle class and were actively doing the opposite of what our elected leaders claimed the government was doing. For example, they were funding the mass influx of immigrants in the last 10-20 years. Also, USAID is a CIA slush fund. So in essence, the CIA has been running a color revolution operation against this country. Probably for decades. That should be the real story we're all focused on. The irony of Caesar being inevitable after Sulla broke the republic open like a shotgun is pretty ironic. Sulla showed everyone how to do it. Even though he was 'trying' to preserve the republic.
The real problem was Marius. Sulla wasn't a revolutionary, and absent Marius we would merely know Sulla as a successful Roman general who had a turn or two at counsel and did nothing of note in those terms. Posted by: 18-1 at March 31, 2025 02:18 PM (t0Rmr) Once you start marching on Rome a couple of times, you can safely be considered revolutionary. He was provoked I admit. TROs and such, are not based in Law as written, but in 'procedure', and rules, and interpretations... essentially created by the Courts, for the Courts.
Posted by: Romeo13 All of those injunctions, etc. come from Equity Courts. These were first ecclesiastical in nature but their ability to fix problems created by the common law reliance on precedent and ability not to have to wait for the injustice to occur but stop it in its progress are some of Equity features. All of this existed before the Founding and are part of the judicial power of the US--e.g. the power to run their own show. The problem is not the power per se but the use of it. Just like the US Congress has the spending and taxing powers that are subject to abuse (aka Obamacare for example) and the President has the power to hire and fire that could be used to hire only cronies to staff government. What will inevitably happen in the case of multiple district courts is some will be dismissed by appellate courts, others will go to Scotus, and all of those decisions risk that the other players--executive and legislature along with the people don't want ignoring judicial orders. Shades of James I and Lord Coke. Posted by: whig at March 31, 2025 02:29 PM (ctrM5) 429

You cannot murder an illegal for example and an illegal being prosecuted for murdering someone else still gets std. constitutional protections as if they were a citizen. On staying here, the question is how much procedure do they get. Under law including Scotus case law, foreign (alien) enemies defined by the executive get deported period. Any procedure offered is purely minimal as in using dossiers rather than court proceedings to separate the sheep from the goats. Outside that act, defined by existing immigration law. Posted by: 18-1 at March 31, 2025 01:58 PM (t0Rmr) And yet.... Here we are. Our self appointed elites believe themselves to be the nobility, the aristocracy. They see the rest of us as servants, serf, or slaves. That is what they want. They want the middle class whites to be educated servants in households, shops, restaurant. Wherever elites might have to interact with the creatures. Lower class whites and very light "tans" as serfs working farms and ranches, garbage collection, etc. They may be seen but the elites won't have to interact with them, minimum education. Everyone else, blacks, dark "tans", Asians will be uneducated slaves doing the mining and gas and oil work. They will work, unprotected in the filthy, dangerous factories. They will have no contact with the elites. All of the servants, serfs, and slaves will be supervised by the bureaucrats who are well educated and know their place is submission to the elite. From Tulsa Newspaper, "In 2009, while Lankford worked at the camp, the family of a 13-year-old girl sued a 15-year-old boy who was alleged to have had sex with her at the camp. Lankford, who was not in Congress at the time, is not alleged to have had any direct knowledge of the alleged assault, has not been accused of any wrongdoing and was not a defendant in the lawsuit, which was settled for an undisclosed amount before it was scheduled to go to trial. But in a 2010 deposition in the case, given a week after he was elected to his first term in the U.S. House, Lankford testified that he believed a 13-year-old could consent to sex. “Yes, I think they can,” Lankford told Kenyatta Bethea, a lawyer for the girl's family, according a 155-page transcript of the deposition obtained by The Associated Press." I've done public opinion research as in polling plus had the grad classes, etc. for it, had friends who are professional pollsters, etc. That being said, I rarely comment anymore about polling as simply few, if any people, look at its empirical underpinnings but jump to the part that confirms whatever opinion makers put in their head at the time. It takes deep understanding to read polling and by the time you understand what one poll says, you are six months down the road in real time and often you find out those results were worthless in hindsight.
