![]() ![]() Good afternoon K.T. - Thank you again for your work putting the pet thread together. You'll seeThey don't look like the "Zoomie" type. How long did it take you to get them to pose like that? Fine cats. ![]() This is Teresa in Fort Worth. Hope you can add this to the Pet Thread! Mr. TiFW caught us catnapping this morning.... Apparently the cat was offended that he would disturb the cushy deal she had going on. I am told that the cat was purring up a storm. The cat still doesn't have a name (we inherited her sans name from our late daughter 7 years ago); we just never found anything that "worked" for her. We just call her The White Cat. When she first came to live with us, she was very anti-people - she was half-feral when daughter found her - but we let her know in no uncertain terms that we didn't truck with that, so now she is quite happy to snuggle up with "her" people! The White Cat is very lucky to have you and your family. She doesn't look "anti-people" now. ![]() This is "Rocket." We rescued her and her three brothers about 10 years ago as orphaned kittens. They're all still with us and doing great. What lucky cats! She is a beauty! Her cuddle spot reminds me of a cat I know. ![]() This is our friend's dog Hans. He was a Stabyhoun, a Dutch breed that is kind of a multipurpose dog. He went to the Rainbow Bridge on the 27th at the age of 16. He was well loved and will be sorely missed. Small as he was, our Greyhounds simply accepted the fact that he was an honorary member and went on with life. NR PaxThe caption on the photo, "Hans being a good boy" is perfect. He looks like he would fit in with other dogs, including your greyhounds. Love the White Cat! I know he's a comfort, Teresa.
He looks exactly like my Buddy I had almost 40 years ago in another universe. I prefer fancier names for cats, but he was an abandoned young neighborhood cat that came in one day with a foot injury and I took him to our vet. They asked name, and I said I didn't know, he was just our cat's buddy because they hung out some. So the medicine came home with "Buddy" on the label and...he was ours. He was a dear, calm cat and I still have a photo of him on my bedroom wall. Posted by: skywch at March 29, 2025 04:02 PM (uqhmb) 24

Smudge is quite the gorgeous kittycat!
All of the pets are precious. The White Cat LOVES Paul - every night he clears a spot next to him on the bed and pats it. She jumps up and curls up next to him and purrs up a storm while he pets her. She also jumps up on him when he is sitting in his recliner and "lets" him pet her while she purrs. Of course, if there are birdies or squirrels outside in the garden, she will leap off of his lap and go chatter at them from the safety of the window, then she will go back to his lap when they leave 😊💕 Posted by: Teresa in Fort Worth, Plucky Comic Relief, AoS Ladies Brigade - Eat the Cheesecake, Buy the Yarn. at March 29, 2025 04:08 PM (SRRAx) 27
Awww, now com'on, cats aren't that bad 😊and I've had both cats and dogs. There are lovely pictures and it's very sweet Teresa's cat cuddled up with her. My cat will often cuddle up with me- and bump his head against mine and purr ( which is a very cat thing to do) not only when he's being affectionate but when he senses I'm not well or am feeling sad

Afternoon, Pet Folken,
As I commented this morning: "Hard to type. Big black cat on lap. Send lawyers, guns, and money." Yes, Stirling the Great is on my lap again. Dagny the aloof one is sitting in her window in the unexpected sunlight. We were supposed to have rain all day, but no. Smudge the Maine Coon does indeed look regal. And White Cat looks much like Linda's late stray Annabelle, taken in after Hurricane Katrina, who stayed to become the last of her run of cats, outliving Marie-Antoinette and Angelique. Which thrilled Annabelle, no doubt; she hated other cats. Being the only feline was her dream. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at March 29, 2025 04:09 PM (omVj0) 29

Ever since she became enamored of Kraft Singles American cheese, Precious the Bichon now waits for us at the top of the stairs any time we come up from The Room With The Cheese. (Formerly known as the kitchen.) Buttered (emphasis on buttered) popcorn also gets her attention. Seems she can hear the kernels popping from upstairs, even in her sleep. They have become a canine aperitif since she goes to her regular food right after the snack.

We have been watching earlier seasons of the 2020 All Creatures Great and Small from the Masterpiece series. Their focus as country vets are more on cattle, sheep, and horses, but we also see household pets like Tricki the Pekingese, the spoiled pet of wealthy Mrs. Pumphrey, Clancy the German shepherd, and others. Not too many cats. Perhaps it's hard to get them to hit their marks when the cameras roll.
It is a charming series, set in Yorkshire in the years just before, and later during, WWII. If nothing else, the Yorkshire and Scots dialects of the leads and those playing the clients are fascinating. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at March 29, 2025 04:23 PM (omVj0) 39

I have a question for the pet owners. One of the dogs (Golden Lab) in my extended family gets a rash on his paws while playing outside - and he loves to play outside.
Does anyone have a brand of summer weight paw-wear that they'd recommend to protect him from the grass - or whatever is causing this rash? Posted by: Hour of the Wolf at March 29, 2025 04:26 PM (VNX3d) 42

Posted by: Tuna at March 29, 2025 *** The actor who plays the boss vet Siegfried Farnon, Charles West, is the son of actress Prunella Scales. She played Basil's wife to John Cleese's Basil in Fawlty Towers. Cleese used to ask young Charles as he watched the filming for suggestions on insults to use in the dialog. There is something of the dancer, or at least good dance training, in the way West moves as Siegfried -- athletic and brisk. Oh! Moron-adjacent animals: Yesterday we visited an independent bookstore, the kind of place that along with neighborhood shopping areas has almost vanished. Two stories, with a series of windows looking down on the busy street below. The bookstore comes complete with a bookstore cat, one "Kitty Meow," who is a shorthair tricolor -- white, tan, and gray -- and is as much a feature of the store as the books. You can buy little pen-and-ink drawings of her.
She was sleeping upstairs outside a little box that she no doubt loves to curl up in, right next to the fantasy section. They told me she was fourteen, so she may not have that much time left to charm customers. Posted by: Corgis Everywhere at March 29, 2025 04:57 PM (omVj0) 57

******** The "economic disadvantage" excuse no longer works. White & Asian kids don't have the modern cradle to grave welfare 99% of college bound blacks do. I have a friend who the general dogsbody for his daughter’s wedding as the rehearsal dinner was held at their house and it needed work done . He was assigned tasks . His wife is a very intelligent woman who loves her family, but forceful about things that must be done . He’s an old time Anglophile and loved “Rumpole” but I have not asked him /and wouldn’t / if wife is like “She who must be obeyed “He does look rather exhausted in the post wedding photos. Ive often thought about what I would do if/when Lucy needs expensive medical intervention.
Having been through a fair amount myself, I would opt for palliative care. Make her as comfortable and pain free as possible and let her live out her days. Makes me tear up. Posted by: nurse ratched. at March 29, 2025 *** That's what I did with the late Chekov D. Siberian in '21 and '22. Nobody could come up with a diagnosis; he was just fourteen and a half, and I guess his little cat clock was just running down. We had a mobile vet come to my place and take care of him at the last, so he was in his comfortable home and surrounded by his people. We adopted 2 barn cats yesterday early afternoon, put them into the enclosure we built - today we found one had escaped. He is chipped - please pray for his survival and safe return.
