Why don't they change? You know, in a more positive direction?
It is now conventional wisdom that the Democratic party has “lost its way.” It is said to be leaderless, lacking a “message,” and out of touch with mainstream voters. They and their ancien régime troops in the media solemnly pronounce that they must “reshape their image,” come up with “better messaging,” or something similar. Often these suggest poll-tested memes and issues rather than a fundamental core belief. So, can they change?Remember when Joy Reid was perplexed that Harris could lose with her "perfect" campaign when she had all the celebrities? Somehow, my intellectual lefties on social media failed to comment on Joy Reid getting fired, though they had looked forward to her reports during campaign season with great anticipation. Odd that they would express no sympathy or attacks against corporate power.
Remember the frog and the scorpion and read on. What will they do? The Dems are floundering; they are failing. So, what are they going to do? We know a few things. They are going to “Fight, fight, fight!” After all, it worked for Trump. I can just hear Hakeem Jeffries now: If it worked for Trump, it will work for us, right? Here we go. Woo hoo!

Oddly enough, I don't see Gavin Newsome's name mentioned anywhere.
It's easy to point and laugh at the fools in DC, but the next Democrat wave isn't going to come out of DC. It's going to be Newsome or Gretchen Whitmer or someone else who is going to have been coming up with a better way to convince the country to vote for them.
For once, I'd suggest paying attention to what's happening in Californica.

harris will not run again because no one will giver her any money. buttigieg will run but he will bail out early.

The stupid thing is, Democrats actually have room to make some inroads with the younger generations by addressing some of their traditional platforms.
The excessive housing prices, the American involvement in perpetual global conflict, the outrageous costs of education, the lack of anti-trust actions against mega-corporations. These are messages that would resonate with the younger generations that are facing the reality of their environment as they attempt to become upwardly mobile.
The problem is, just like cuckservatives, Democrats talk about their platforms, but they are beholden to their corporate masters, and so they never act to do something like cap loans values available to students for tuition. Instead they enable students to get $300,000 in debt and give empty promises about forgiving that debt.
It's the same thing Republicans do with their constant empty promises about controlling spending. They are platforms designed to appeal to voters with no actual tangible actions once elected.
Essentially, both major parties just consider the voters to be ignorant rubes, and based on the fact that we keeping voting for them, they are correct.

It's actually encouraging the progress that conservatives have made on looking at vaxxines with at least a degree of skepticism.
Covid was, of course, a big driver of this.
But I can still remember vividly the bashing of Jenny McCarthy-types here and the numerous panic pieces on how measles outbreaks were proof of how dangerous that asking questions about vaxxines was.

People who say it's been debunked are usually relying on several studies that found no association between the two. But that's not really a debunking. A study that finds no link finds no link, but that's not really the same thing as an affirmative finding that there is no link. The Democrats haven't lost their way. They are going the same way they always have. They haven't taken a sudden wrong path, its just that the culture has left them behind. For years, decades, the DNC has controlled the establishment and culture through power and money. There was never a groundswell for homosexual marriage and abortion up to 9 months, for transexual bathrooms and pronouns. They just imposed it on everyone through entertainment, education, politics, judges, and art.

My guess on Weldon is that he essentially had the same ideas as RFK Jr, and the Senators didn't like that, but Trump put so much personal energy into getting RFK Jr. approved that they went along with it. Weldon isn't nearly so high profile, so Trump didn't put his personal prestige on the line with this one, and the Senators who never liked RFK felt free to take out their frustration on his deputy.

Oh I am sure that pharma doesn't want anyone looking closely into their work, but that doesn't mean that the vaccines are causing autism. It could just mean that it might reveal they aren't all as necessary as promoted, or that they might have other problems

A couple thoughts on vaccines and autism:
I thought it was common knowledge that one can't prove a negative. So without direct proof of a cause one cannot rule out the possibility that vaccines cause autism.
Parents who push for a diagnosis of autism exist but cannot account for the amount of increase seen. Most parents want healthy children.
With the corruption we have seen in government that we have seen, it is easy to believe that the data has been manipulated in favor of the pharmaceutical companies.
I would like to see studies conducted by disinterested parties.

My guess on Weldon is that he essentially had the same ideas as RFK Jr, and the Senators didn't like that, but Trump put so much personal energy into getting RFK Jr. approved that they went along with it. Weldon isn't nearly so high profile, so Trump didn't put his personal prestige on the line with this one, and the Senators who never liked RFK felt free to take out their frustration on his deputy.

I literally said that: big pharma doesn't want people looking into their work, and gave several reasons why. The part we differ on is WHY. I won't assume its because their shots give people autism. Maybe its true, but no scientific evidence points to that, so I won't presume it. LOTS of evidence point to the "increase in autism" being forced, not organic.

Even Peter Hotez admits there is a genetic component to autism, and the one case where a vaccine was judged to have been a contributing factor in the development of autism was based on a genetic pre-disposition that affected some element of the immune system
It is a decent hypothesis that something in the vaccine schedule for children is affecting neurodevelopment in a manner similar to how thalidomide contributed to a genetic tendency to create the condition phocomelia
Phocomelia was a condition known before the 50's it was just very very rare

ADHD would be better understood as a symptom than an underlying diagnosis, so anyone who "just" has ADHD should not be considered "on the spectrum," unless there are other indications.
I do believe we're looking at two different forces here though... the conflating of milder forms of weird behavior with autism. And an actual increase of "real" cases of "real autism."
I believe both are happening.

Was in line at an office in a fairly poor area of Oakland. Angry black guy in front of me sarting ranting to another person in line about how Musk and Trump "only care about rich people" and then started showing him (and everyone) anti-Trump memes and propaganda emails his gets on his iPhone from far-left activist organizations. Pretty much what you'd expect.
But asna result I fell into friendly conversation with the person behind me in line, a 50-something black woman who at first had agreed with the angry guy's rants, but then in hushed tones over several minutes began to several her true feelings: "Don't take this the wrong revreal, but I think Trump has been right about a lot of things." Whoa!
What "converted" her was Covid. She said that she was one of the first people in the US to actually catch Covid, in December 2019, and she was prescribed some pills by her doctor -- "the same medicine that Trump said would eliminate symptoms and make Covid harmless" -- and lo and behild, the pills worked and she was totally fine after a day or two. BUT THEN, she was forced to take the Pfizer vaccine when it came out, (con't)...

I know Big Pharma is innately evil and corrupt, but I am not going to assume that the reason that they resist investigation necessarily means it has to be due to their work causing autism.
To me, the bigger problem is not a potential tiny number of children who might get mental issues from chemistry, as awful as that would be, but that there is an ongoing, deliberate effort to manipulate the culture into considering shy or awkward people as mentally ill and in need of drugs to "fix" them.

From my time in public education I would say that there is a large increase in autism and it is real, ie not pushed by parents or system.
There are a lot of "perks" that go with the diagnosis, yes, but for the most part parents would rather have a healthy child.

Big corporations with a board are pushed every single year to make more money no matter if there are more customers or if its reasonable to think it can happen. Intent makes all the difference in the world. If someone steps into the street in front of me and I hit him, I'm blameless. If I turn towards someone in the street and speed up, I'm a murderer. The video I saw showed her pulling her arm back and swinging inward, not the up and down motion used in normal running. To me, that shows intent.

I am sure this is true is some cases, but I feel like there is a huge possibility of more than 1 thing, and I want to know. My 13 year old is autistic. There is no history in our family. She hit all of her milestones. Then, at 3, she started having over the top emotional regulation issues, and she regressed with short term recall - memorizing little nursery rhymes was impossible. Her sensory sensitivity went nuts, and where she had incredible rhythm and dance ability, to the point we thought she was going to be a ballet dancer or gymnast as she really stood out in her goofy little 3 year old classes, it all just stopped. She became a toe walker and had some tell tale clumsiness that I think would be far worse if there wasn’t that “before” talent in the recesses of her brain. She has other learning issues, too- maybe they were there before, I mean she was only 3 when the sudden change occurred. My older 2 are off the charts smart, always excelling in gifted classes. My middle one graduated from HS at 16 and college at 19. Something happened, and I would love to know what.

Then suddenly it was over and we're all supposed to act as if it didn't happen. Well, it did. And I saw what my neighbors became.

My entire management chain bullied pregnant employees into a medical procedure they didn't want to undergo.
Why should I respect any of them?

And for the record, my 13 year old’s IQ measures average, though my other 2 are high. Her learning disabilities make things hard for her, but she has surpassed expectations in reading - dyslexia is the worst learning disability of all because everything is based on being able to read. She is currently battling her dysgraphia demons and is determined to be able to write well. It’s hard to watch her get so excited about a concept, write her paragraph and then go back to it after a while to edit only to see it’s all over the place and not at all what she had in her head and thought she put down. She is not as determined around math at the moment, though diameters and radius work somehow made sense to her. 😂

Dyslexia doesn’t mean seeing letters backwards, dyslexia only means a reading learning disability and there are different types. This affects spelling, etc. Dysgraphia impairs written expression- the wrong word, dropped words, handwriting. Her life skills are fine, outside of emotional regulation that can still be problematic, but no where near what it used to be. We have spent so much time here! That and her lack of a filter when she is annoyed - still working on this life skill! She truly doesn’t care about having friends, she is perfectly fine hanging out with us, but I think that is because she fears being called weird. There is a different social affect when you talk to her. But she has a crazy dry sense of humor that comes out of nowhere once she is comfortable around you.
