Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Why don't they change? You know, in a more positive direction?![]() It is now conventional wisdom that the Democratic party has “lost its way.” It is said to be leaderless, lacking a “message,” and out of touch with mainstream voters. They and their ancien régime troops in the media solemnly pronounce that they must “reshape their image,” come up with “better messaging,” or something similar. Often these suggest poll-tested memes and issues rather than a fundamental core belief. So, can they change?Remember when Joy Reid was perplexed that Harris could lose with her "perfect" campaign when she had all the celebrities? Somehow, my intellectual lefties on social media failed to comment on Joy Reid getting fired, though they had looked forward to her reports during campaign season with great anticipation. Odd that they would express no sympathy or attacks against corporate power. Remember the frog and the scorpion and read on. What will they do? The Dems are floundering; they are failing. So, what are they going to do? We know a few things. They are going to “Fight, fight, fight!” After all, it worked for Trump. I can just hear Hakeem Jeffries now: If it worked for Trump, it will work for us, right? Here we go. Woo hoo! Why are they so bad at fighting in advertisements? Is this really a good time for them to try fighting in the streets again? Following are examples, including video clips, of powerful Democrats being Democrats. Perhaps a couple of their strategies might be effective on a few people. Can you identify examples?Democrats in Congress have finally unburdened themselves from the state of disarray plaguing their party since losing the 2024 election—by uniting in outrage against one of them their own. Democratic politicians and activists are livid after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said he would support passage of a Republican-backed funding bill to avoid a government shutdown. Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives released a blistering statement in response to Schumer's announcement. "The far-right Republican funding bill will unleash havoc on everyday Americans," they wrote. "House Democrats will not be complicit." The six-month funding measure narrowly passed the GOP-controlled House earlier this week. Congressman Jared Golden of Maine was the only Democrat who voted in favor. Senators have until the end of the day on Friday to approve the measure before funding runs out. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) vowed to mobilize her social media fans in an effort to force a government shutdown, slamming Schumer for his decision to "completely roll over and give up on protecting the Constitution." On Friday, former speaker Nancy Pelosi urged Democratic senators to "listen to the women" and defy Schumer by blocking the bill, which needed eight Democratic votes to pass. It got them, with 10 Senate Democrats voting to end a filibuster and avoid a government shutdown. It was a remarkable display of party unity—between the House and the Senate, only 11 of 260 Democrats—a whopping 96 percent—voted in favor of the funding measure. In a vehement statement, Pelosi blasted Schumer for his "unacceptable" refusal to "fight back." She praised Sen. Patty Murray (D., Wash.) and Rep. Rose DeLauro (D., Conn.) for proposing a better alternative and denounced the GOP funding measure as a "devastating assault on the well-being of working families" that would be "worse" than a government shutdown. . . Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Democrat-aligned Lincoln Project, said Schumer was acting like a "GOP sleeper agent."Well . . . . ![]() Yesterday was pi day, the day on which Albert Einstein was born and Karl Marx died. Math nerds and freedom-lovers everywhere celebrated. And St. Patrick’s Day, which the Irish and others who like beer observe, is coming right up. Meanwhile, the Democrats have just surrendered on the continuing resolution, an event that has not yet given rise to memes. And JD Vance memes continue to proliferate, so that the New York Times writes that “Republicans dominate the digital town square.” This is my first Week In Pictures since I filled in for Steve for a couple of weeks some time ago. I intend to continue several of his traditions: there will be bacon memes, which I understand, and Star Wars memes, about which I have no clue. At least until I can ease them out of TWIP. Oddly enough, I don't see Gavin Newsome's name mentioned anywhere.
It's easy to point and laugh at the fools in DC, but the next Democrat wave isn't going to come out of DC. It's going to be Newsome or Gretchen Whitmer or someone else who is going to have been coming up with a better way to convince the country to vote for them. For once, I'd suggest paying attention to what's happening in Californica. Posted by: BurtTC at March 15, 2025 11:10 AM (B3xLp) 4

The stupid thing is, Democrats actually have room to make some inroads with the younger generations by addressing some of their traditional platforms.
The excessive housing prices, the American involvement in perpetual global conflict, the outrageous costs of education, the lack of anti-trust actions against mega-corporations. These are messages that would resonate with the younger generations that are facing the reality of their environment as they attempt to become upwardly mobile. The problem is, just like cuckservatives, Democrats talk about their platforms, but they are beholden to their corporate masters, and so they never act to do something like cap loans values available to students for tuition. Instead they enable students to get $300,000 in debt and give empty promises about forgiving that debt. It's the same thing Republicans do with their constant empty promises about controlling spending. They are platforms designed to appeal to voters with no actual tangible actions once elected. Essentially, both major parties just consider the voters to be ignorant rubes, and based on the fact that we keeping voting for them, they are correct. ... I just read yesterday that this "link" had been debunked So, is it the studies into a link to autism or the debunking process that are all screwed up ? Asking for a friend Posted by: SMOD at March 15, 2025 11:25 AM (GITLP) People who say it's been debunked are usually relying on several studies that found no association between the two. But that's not really a debunking. A study that finds no link finds no link, but that's not really the same thing as an affirmative finding that there is no link. It's the mistake of thinking that absence of evidence is evidence of absence. Epidemiological studies by the nature of their design can't really disprove associations. And a stack of studies that finds no association really aren't any more definitive in that regard. Zero plus zero plus zero plus zero is still zero. That's not to say I think there's a connection between autism and vaccines. There doesn't seem to be any especially good reason to think there is, and there was one very big instance of scientific fraud (flogged by the plaintiffs' bar). But it hasn't been debunked, not by science anyway. Posted by: bear with asymmetrical balls - super straight at March 15, 2025 11:36 AM (2wadn) 53

That's not how it works. The Republicans hold a 1 vote majority in the committee considering his nomination. Actually, it sounds as if Chuckie's antisemitism book will inflame the Left even more. For the first time in generations, antisemitism has become a daily reality in America, and it’s getting worse. Jewish synagogues and their congregants are targeted and sometimes killed by extremists, Jewish students are harassed and attacked on campus, conspiracy theories about Jews have gone mainstream on social media, and debates over Israel have veered into dangerous territory. Senator Chuck Schumer tackles the historical, political, cultural, and international forces that have led to the alarming rise of antisemitism in America in the 21st Century. Not to worry - he also includes a reference to the pogrom at the Capitol on January 6th. The Democrats haven't lost their way. They are going the same way they always have. They haven't taken a sudden wrong path, its just that the culture has left them behind. For years, decades, the DNC has controlled the establishment and culture through power and money. There was never a groundswell for homosexual marriage and abortion up to 9 months, for transexual bathrooms and pronouns. They just imposed it on everyone through entertainment, education, politics, judges, and art.
People didn't like that stuff, they didn't buy into it, they had it imposed on them and finally threw off the shackles. And now all the systems that the left used to force that stuff on everyone are being stripped away. Of COURSE they are getting violent. Of COURSE they are acting crazy. Good morning Horde
A couple thoughts on vaccines and autism: I thought it was common knowledge that one can't prove a negative. So without direct proof of a cause one cannot rule out the possibility that vaccines cause autism. Parents who push for a diagnosis of autism exist but cannot account for the amount of increase seen. Most parents want healthy children. My guess on Weldon is that he essentially had the same ideas as RFK Jr, and the Senators didn't like that, but Trump put so much personal energy into getting RFK Jr. approved that they went along with it. The beauty part about autism is that because it exists on a 'spectrum' from mild to severe, it is easy to define it downward
Yeah, and its been broadened to include stuff that was not considered abnormal in the past. I suspect that given the intellectual level of many of the horde here, that a lot of you would have been considered "autistic" today when you were young. You didn't fit in, you weren't socially sparkling, you were so bored in class you seemed inattentive or dull. These days that's a mental condition. Are there more autism cases, real ones, today than there were in the past? Maybe. But they're being lost in a sea of social engineering misdiagnoses. If you're not warm and engaging and outgoing and socially comfortable, you're mentally damaged, according to some. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at March 15, 2025 12:14 PM (2VST1) 134

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 15, 2025 12:17 PM (MqtqS) No, I see it. I'm just saying, I don't think drugs and doctor visits are the likely cause of the increased rates of diagnosis. ADHD would be better understood as a symptom than an underlying diagnosis, so anyone who "just" has ADHD should not be considered "on the spectrum," unless there are other indications. I do believe we're looking at two different forces here though... the conflating of milder forms of weird behavior with autism. And an actual increase of "real" cases of "real autism." Pretty much what you'd expect. But asna result I fell into friendly conversation with the person behind me in line, a 50-something black woman who at first had agreed with the angry guy's rants, but then in hushed tones over several minutes began to several her true feelings: "Don't take this the wrong revreal, but I think Trump has been right about a lot of things." Whoa! What "converted" her was Covid. She said that she was one of the first people in the US to actually catch Covid, in December 2019, and she was prescribed some pills by her doctor -- "the same medicine that Trump said would eliminate symptoms and make Covid harmless" -- and lo and behild, the pills worked and she was totally fine after a day or two. It is a decent hypothesis that something in the vaccine schedule for children is affecting neurodevelopment in a manner similar to how thalidomide contributed to a genetic tendency to create the condition phocomelia
And that very well may be, like Burt says: it could be both, that there is an overdiagnosis, and a genuine increase. I know Big Pharma is innately evil and corrupt, but I am not going to assume that the reason that they resist investigation necessarily means it has to be due to their work causing autism. To me, the bigger problem is not a potential tiny number of children who might get mental issues from chemistry, as awful as that would be, but that there is an ongoing, deliberate effort to manipulate the culture into considering shy or awkward people as mentally ill and in need of drugs to "fix" them. Posted by: Kindltot I am sure this is true is some cases, but I feel like there is a huge possibility of more than 1 thing, and I want to know. My 13 year old is autistic. There is no history in our family. She hit all of her milestones. Then, at 3, she started having over the top emotional regulation issues, and she regressed with short term recall - memorizing little nursery rhymes was impossible. Her sensory sensitivity went nuts, and where she had incredible rhythm and dance ability, to the point we thought she was going to be a ballet dancer or gymnast as she really stood out in her goofy little 3 year old classes, it all just stopped. She became a toe walker and had some tell tale clumsiness that I think would be far worse if there wasn’t that “before” talent in the recesses of her brain. She has other learning issues, too- maybe they were there before, I mean she was only 3 when the sudden change occurred. My older 2 are off the charts smart, always excelling in gifted classes. My middle one graduated from HS at 16 and college at 19. Something happened, and I would love to know what. Posted by: Piper at March 15, 2025 12:45 PM (p4NUW) 187

Posted by: Kindltot at March 15, 2025 02:22 PM (D7oie) Hmmm, first term Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Odd, disjointed. Lots of ship porn. Star Trek: Wrath of Khan. Awesome. This means that there is a Star Trek V waiting for us out there... Posted by: Aetius451AD at March 15, 2025 02:25 PM (bss/y) 269

FBI Director Kash Patel@FBIDirectorKash Mar 14 I want to address the alarming rise in ‘Swatting’ incidents targeting media figures. The FBI is aware of this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold those responsible accountable. This isn’t about politics—weaponizing law enforcement against ANY American is not only morally reprehensible but also endangers lives, including those of our officers. That will not be tolerated. We are fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes. More updates to come. --- No, Kash, you don't address the problem you arrest it. You arrest and prosecute it for a felony. Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at March 15, 2025 02:49 PM (KV6ve) 271
Heh. Just saw this headline at CNN site:
"Why ‘swatting’ incidents are so alarming | CNN" Pretty damned amusing from the people who 'Just happened to be there for the raid on Roger Stone's home' Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at March 15, 2025 02:56 PM (XeU6L) 272
Worse, back in 2012 Obama and the establishment Congress that existed back then passed the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act which made it legal for the US government to spread the propaganda they created for the rest of the world to legally be spread inside the US. The VOA has been a big part of that.

Posted by: JackStraw === Unrelated? - Tulsi background is military Psyops and Civil Affairs. Posted by: Itinerant Alley Butcher ------- The VOA became a hotbed of Fellow Travelers post WWII. McCarthy made this clear during the hearings. "The chief VOA news writer and editor at that time was Communist Party USA activist, American novelist Howard Fast, who in 1953 received the Stalin International Peace Prize. Other Office of War Information officials, propagandists, and journalists who contributed to spreading Soviet propaganda in OWI materials domestically and VOA broadcasts abroad included Elmer Davis, Owen Lattimore, Wallace Carroll, and Nelson Poynter" https://shorturl.at/UUwXj Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at March 15, 2025 03:41 PM (XeU6L) 274
Thank you posting Cold Missouri Waters. I know that everyone is down on fed employees right now, but those federal firefighting men and women work long hours for not spectacular pay. It's a job that you really do ]have to love.

Smelly Chick's hair freaks me out. I think if I ran the ISS, I would require pixy cuts, or French braids, or a hairnet on the ladies.
You know there has to be lots of that woman's hair floating around. Posted by: Grump928(C) at March 15, 2025 04:28 PM (jc0TO) 276

Bullshit, the FBI is complicit in many of these "Swatting" incidents. Until federal thugs get the exact same level of scrutiny and punishment as We The People, this crap will continue. Posted by: Unknown Drip Under Pressure at March 15, 2025 06:49 PM (a4flb) 282
