SecDef Hegseth: We're Investigating Milley's Leaking and Gross Insubordination of the Chain of Command and We Might Demote Him

Eric Daugherty
@EricLDaugh

BREAKING: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is ordering an investigation into General Mark Milley, pulling Milley's security detail and clearance "immediately," Milley may face demotion in retirement, and a second portrait of Milley was removed - Fox

The evidence that he elevated himself to illegal caudillo acting as president without constitutional authority is hard to refute -- he openly bragged about doing so.

He told the Communist Chinese Government that he would warn them in advance of any action Trump might take against them. And he was so proud of this treason that he immediately told his media palz about it, so that his Heroism could be praised throughout the leftwing media.

There's also the small matter of him scheming to block the deployment of the National Guard on January 6th, 2021, and then covering up his actions.

Its just a uniform. Inside it ? Just a man. Sometimes honest, sometimes a scoundrel. The more rank ? In peacetime, a pretty good indicator of scoundrel.

And you'd think, as such great readers of history, this wouldn't be a hard lesson. History books are full of tyrants with prior military service.

A court martial is a legal proceeding/conviction, so I'm assuming his Biden pardon will protect him. I don't think he could be administratively demoted, either, without some kind of legal action. He could be recalled to Active Duty, but he'd draw his pretty significant pay and be more trouble than it'd be worth.

Then as we all know we left behind billions of dollars worth of operational equipment. I'm convinced Milley and others did that intentionally, and I think we should look into it. He signaled his intentions and then it happened. I don't think that was coincidence.

I hate his chest full of medals. Probably some for best latrine duty. I prefer President Eisenhower's medals. But I know nothing and will admit it, unlike Dim's in Congress.

When people yell about Tulsi meeting with Assad, why does no one seem to care or remember McCain, balloon head McMillian and, I think another Dim, secretly meeting with Syrian rebels, trying to topple Assad in 2017? The photos later show him and his face jaw tumor smiling with terrorists, I think one was Baghdadi. McMillian posing with a toy rifle with duct tape. As they pushed for the Syrian Civil War.

My point is McCain went BEFORE Tulsi. And was meeting with terrorists to overthrow Assad. But McCain's secret visit was ok and not hers? Regardless, the warmonger was meddling in the overthrow of a country and I think we need to focus on our problems at this point. She paid for her trip.

Like it worked so well for others to do this in the Egyptian Spring. Ringing any bells, Hillary, about Gadhafi?

You have to give Trump props for Murkowski's sudden change of heart. But shutting down Federal Grants, loans and the like he hit her at her most vulnerable place. Alaska is by far the biggest recipient of Federal "gifts" They get over $8,300 per resident in Alaska. The second highest state (remarkably Rhode Island) isn't even close. So, Trump temporarily shut down these grants, and is stating that they will take a closer look at their necessity. THAT is how Murkowski keeps getting re-elected. She brings the goods. Call them earmarks if you like. But, if all of a sudden she can't deliver, she's toast. As a result she needs to play nice.

According to the Goldwater-Nichols Act of 1986, the chain of command goes directly from the president to the secretary of defense, and then to the regional combatant commanders, bypassing the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This structure was designed to prevent the military from having undue influence over civilian leadership and to ensure clear lines of operational command.

186 1. You cannot recall him to active duty without cause.
2. You cannot just arbitrarily demote people.

1. This is easily circumvented. The President has the power to recall people by executive order during a national emergency. He can declare a limited national emergency in the Montana missile fields and assign Milley there. Or, you can declare that Milley has a "High Demand Skill" and call him back.

2. He lost his security clearance. When you lose your security clearance, you can be demoted if that clearance is necessary as part of your job. GOs need a security clearance.

I think Biden outsmarted himself (I know, hard to do) by forcing Weiss to agree to submit to Hnter's initial BS gun charges plea deal, that gave Hunter freedom from new Federal charges in perpetuity. Joe knows Hunter will fork-up again. The Delaware Federal judge hearing the case blew-up that crazy plea deal. Then Garland and Weiss decided they weren't going to be Joe's patsy any longer. So Joe was forced to ultimately pardon Hunter, to at least clear-out the gun and tax charges. Not-top of his class lawyer Joe reached for too much in the gun charges plea deal, to protect Hunter from future Fed prosecution for anything. A plea deal without the forever protection would probably have been approved by the judge.

The best laid plans of mice and Joe...

If he refuses to testify, he can be held in contempt. If he lies, he can be charged with perjury. If he tells the truth and it is scandalous...he might be legally safe, but his subordinates may be in trouble, and Trump gets a media win.
Posted by: Military Moron at January 30, 2025 01:51 PM (R0KN+)

1. I don't believe that they would need to recall him in order to serve a subpoena. He would fight the recall, which would waste time, and he'd likely win.
2. If we have sufficient evidence to charge his subordinates then we don't need him.
3. Trump gets a media win - it's impossible for Trump to get a "media win". Further, since he cannot run again, it's irrelevant.

We need concrete results to improve the country and we have a limited time to get them. We can't go for feel-good BS.

FOR ANY OFFENSES against the United States, including but not limited to any offenses
under the United States Code or the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which he may have
committed or taken part in during the period from January l, 2014, through the date of this pardon
arising from or in any manner related to his service as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army or Chairman

336 Should. Just like, if a prosecutor gives a co-conspirator immunity from charges, he can be compelled to testify, as he's not in jeopardy, so has no right to avoid self-incrimination, because he can't be charged.

Fired/relieved of command, but not demoted. You have to be adjudicated of misconduct, usually by court martial at that rank, before you risk losing rank.

Firing him just meant he wasn't in charge of forces in Korea any longer. He was still a 5 star General.

He dismissed and replaced him as top commander in Korea. as was his right as President and C-in-C during war time.

Demoting or court-martialing Milley involves a legal proceeding I assume via UCMJ, but still Trump is C-in-C and has the authority to proceed.

Easy peasy.

350 Two things get left out of this story:

1) There was never any danger of Trump doing anything. He didn't contemplate it, plan it, try to do it, etc. This was all predicated-on a fantasy.

2) Milley bragged about this not out of duty and honor, or because there was any specific danger, but in a grubby attempt to curry favor with Biden. And it worked.

Striped of his last star, and humiliated, as an example to others. In fact, call him back before a board and make him do some explaining, about how HE decided HE was in charge of the military, and not the commander in chief. That should be educational.

Oh, and film that AND show it to the troops during training, instead of DEI crap.

352 If Milley didn't want to follow Trump's orders, then he should have resigned and made his case as a civilian that Trump is a doo-doo head. Instead he committed treason. Maybe he assumed that there would be no penalty for doing so.

356 General Milley cannot be demoted without a General Court Martial. HOWEVER, the rate at which he receives his retirement pay CAN be reduced. I personally know of 2 Star that got “railroaded” because of what a subordinate did and, while he kept his Major General rank, he’s collecting retirement at O-6 (Colonel) rate.

For Gen Milley, he needs to be reduced for retirement purposes to O-6. As a 4 Star with 43 years of service, his retirement pay is 100% of his Active Duty Base pay ($212,100 per year when he retired). As a O-6 for retirement purposes, his retirement pay would be $162,912 (in 2023, when he retired). Retiring him as a general officer wouldn’t greatly affect his retirement pay. 4, 3, and 2 Stars all make about the same pay (capped at SES Level II). 1 Stars make about $25K less. The big drop is for O-6.

357 This is the problem with the old "always respect the men in uniform" attitude of, well lets say prior generations.

Its just a uniform. Inside it ? Just a man. Sometimes honest, sometimes a scoundrel. The more rank ? In peacetime, a pretty good indicator of scoundrel.

Benedict Arnold was a great leader for the Rebels in the Revolution, climaxing in his work at Saratoga to capture the entire British invasion army in the Hudson valley.

He was also, a few years later a traitor and a British officer burning towns in Virginia.

358 You'll have to go back a long, long way to find those who have risen very far in the Five Sided Nuthouse that were anything other than political animals.

Thats the nature of the peacetime military. Its a political organization in those periods. Those who practice politics the best move up. War fighters are typically poor politicians.
Posted by: Nope at January 30, 2025 01:24 PM (JcRjn)

Milley was a terrible politician for committing to one side when the other side was in power. Bad move.

Posted by: Oldcat at January 30, 2025 04:08 PM (n7h9X)

360 299 On Milley's medals: I have 16 medals from my time in the service, which included three combat tours in combat rescue.

Of those 16, three have real value to me.

There are a lot of attendance awards in today's military.
