The better plan is to transition the system and give folks pensions based on their years frozen now when they retire...and then 401K the rest from then on...so for many, a hybrid system and then new employees are solely 401K... That it’s illegal and the only reason he’s doing it is because he doesn’t want to be criticized, on and on.Then on to birthright citizenship. That one is because we’re all racist and we want Black people and Chinese people to be fearful that if they have a baby they’re going to bedeported. I'll bet that the original data is gone, replaced by their "corrections"; no way back from that. eliminating the fake data from "ghost" stations should be easier, just purge it from the databases. if there are any real scientists left they should form their own Trebuchet Commission to cleanse their ranks of people who would alter raw data. Did You Know?
None of the creatures weighing in on the Senate to “advise and consent” nominees ever passed even a basic F.B.I. background check. Nobody in Congress. How is it that some wackjob from Somalia calls John Adams, one of the founders, “UnAmerican”? The government holds that simply by winning an election, one is “deemed” to have passed a background check. Candidates for political office need to be vetted BEFORE they are allowed to run for office. Is it still illegal for a communist to be employed in the Federal government? Why not? 17 I think cashing out all government pensioners is a good idea.. give them notice, a reasonable payout, and some guidance on what to do with the money.
I seriously doubt you can do that. Those pensions were a contractual obligation between the government and the civil service. Posted by: Archimedes ====== As a matter of law (not executive orders), government can certainly 'take' property including pensions and has actually done so in the past during the Depression under FDR affecting even Supreme Court justices. Justice Holmes, well into his upper 80's if not 90, joked he would not have as much to support himself in his old age. The key word to any taking is 'due process of law' and a pension is treated by law somewhat similarly to that of a physical piece of property if you are legally vested. As an individual, you have protections from being treated differently than other government employees, as a whole group, Congress is not bound to continue current treatment and can alter conditions the same as they can for Social Security pensioners. Complicated analysis but yes, I would say that fedgov could give a lump sum payout of future obligations as a group. Posted by: whig at January 27, 2025 11:17 AM (ctrM5) 93

Most Feds are on the FERS system, which is a 401K centric system. The "pension" part of the FERS system is laughable, because most Feds will not see any of the money they put in along with the government match. The pension is one of the many "unfunded mandates" of the $200+ Trillion in unfunded mandates. If any Fed is counting on the pension part as part of your "retirement", well change your thinking (sooner the better). Get rid of CS. All executive branch employees should be at will. Your party loses the White House, you lose your job.
The problem with your approach is that, like it or not, you do still need SOME bureaucrats to make the trains run on time, and there is institutional history that needs to be propagated. Sure, they could be dramatically reduced, and it should be made crystal clear that any attempt to thwart the will of the elected officeholders will be met with termination, while merit only should be the operative metric for hiring and firing. The idea that the spoils system will lead to massive, massive turnover in the federal government is simply ahistorical nonsense. Posted by: TheJamesMadison I would agree. Most of the turnover was the part time postmasters and tax commissioners/port officers which were turned over anyway after one administration left and another came in. The Jacksonian deal that Marty Van Buren (founder of the modern party system) did was to pick the majority faction of each state and let them control patronage of postmasters, port authorities, etc. in their state, in turn they gave loyalty to the Jackson administration. The Whigs scrambled and they ended up with the rump factions in each state that were excluded from patronage and thus we got a two party system again.

I can see that, but why do we have to pay the majority of the UN dues AND host all the members in our country?
--------------------------- Those were part of the UN Charter, which is technically a signed and ratified treaty. Hosting all the members also means keeping a constant eye on them, as Salty Dog suggests. BUT the dues amount was calculated in 1945, when most of the rest of the world was in ruins and Uncle Sam had half the world's GDP. DJT should insist on a rework, with present dues tied to present share of GDP (or better still, global population). I want the EO to conclude: "Until the dues are renegotiated, authorized by the Security Council, and ratified by the US Senate, US dues to the UN shall consist of 100 of the smallest US coins in circulation, kinetically delivered to the forehead of the UN rep or officer that the US President shall designate." Here's another executive order for Trump:
FORGIVE ALL CURRENT EIDL SBA LOANS. The government ordered businesses to stop doing business during Covid. Although employees received the forgiven loans for salary (PPP Loans), the business owners still had to pay the cost of keeping the businesses going. Mortgages, rent, utilities, property taxes, contracted services and on and on. The only way a lot of owners could hang on was to take out the Economic Injury Disaster Loans. Since it wasn't the fault of business owners that their businesses were ordered shut down, they shouldn't be responsible for the subsequent costs of keeping it going. Make Recycling Great Again.
I'm no enviroweenie, but I think we are tremendously wasteful when it comes to a throwaway mentality. And the promise of recycling has been shown to be an enormous joke. Bring back glass jars and wax-paper milk cartons. Or if we insist on plastics for their efficiency and weight, at least, make recycling plastic viable. Tires -- what the hell is with just throwing them in a landfill and either burying them or hoping they don't become a sooty blaze that goes on for months? "Move all federal employees from pensions to 401ks."
The pension-only model only applies to federal employees who started before 1984, so there are very few left. The pension itself maxes out after 42 years of service. Federal employees hired since 1984 have a combination of defined contribution (like 401(k)), pension, and pay into Social Security as well. The government matches up to 5% contribution, but up to 15% is tax-deferred. Feds also have the choice to contribute to tax-deferred savings or a Roth-IRA type of account. There are three stock funds from which to choose, a bond-like fund, and a government securities fund. Newer federal employees have to pay more into the system to cover pensions. The pension part is calculated based on time in service as well as highest average salary. The calculation is something like 0.01 x (highest average salary for three years) x (years in the government). For those who work past age 62, the multiplying factor is 0.011 rather than 0.01. Retirees often have to give up to 10% of the pension back in order to cover spouses for death benefit as well as health care coverage after the employee passes away. 165. Most Feds are on the FERS system, which is a 401K centric system. The "pension" part of the FERS system is laughable, because most Feds will not see any of the money they put in along with the government match.
Posted by: Ganowicz Commie Ex FERS is a retirement plan that provides benefits from three different sources: a Basic Benefit Plan, Social Security and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Two of the three parts of FERS (Social Security and the TSP) can go with you to your next job if you leave the Federal Government before retirement. The Basic Benefit and Social Security parts of FERS require you to pay your share each pay period. Your agency withholds the cost of the Basic Benefit and Social Security from your pay as payroll deductions. Your agency pays its part too. Then, after you retire, you receive annuity payments each month for the rest of your life. The TSP part of FERS is an account that your agency automatically sets up for you. Each pay period your agency deposits into your account amount equal to 1% of the basic pay you earn for the pay period. You can also make your own contributions to your TSP account and your agency will also make a matching contribution. Posted by: L - It's a good day at January 27, 2025 12:01 PM (NFX2v) 372

Lott was working K Street and wielded more power than any single senator. He was a ring-leader in the mechanism to disrupt the Tea Party.
Posted by: Braenyard It was Mitch more than anything and his cohort of GOP relics from a past age (many from the Reagan years). The corporate and ngo lobbyists on K street used Lott as an emissary but they were the actual enemies, not their lackeys on K Street. The killing of the Tea Party was an encirclement movement, first you get the Koch Brothers creating fake organizations, you get McConnell okaying the Dems to go after Tea Party groups via the IRS, the grifting uniparty coalition in each state promoted 'influencers' to hijack the amorphous leadership of these groups, and McConnell funded establishment candidates and made sure anti-establishment types lost from lack of funding or even direct criticism. I also think manipulation of primary voting was done--see McDaniel's loss in MS facing the ga ga Thad Cochran. McConnell and his uniparty buddies activated black voters to vote in the GOP primary to save Thad's seat. There is a good book out there to be written if someone cared enough to piss off the PTB to write it. Posted by: whig at January 27, 2025 12:09 PM (ctrM5) 401

My favorite idea: REQUIRE the Center for Medicare Services to declare that ONLY citizens - born or naturalized - are eligible for government services/benefits/entitlements. Non-citizens MAY enroll in Marketplace plans, but WITHOUT subsidies from the Federal government. Others MAY pick up the cost - their home government, employers (but they may NOT deduct the cost on their income taxes), or individuals/groups. The only nonprofits that may cover the cost are those not receiving ANY government money. For those who actually look at the CMS website, it's clear that they consider those with 'temporary protection from deportation' to be ELIGIBLE for ALL entitlements. The CMS ruling is used by more than health services, so once they have that "entitlement eligibility", ALL government programs are fair game. The worst offenders of the entitlements game are the Title I schools - in many of them, they make a decision NOT to individually check eligibility, but declare that ALL students will receive the free lunch. I know personally of at least 4 schools that did that, with NO repercussions for that action. Posted by: Linda S Fox at January 28, 2025 04:23 PM (7Rs+y) 482
