Most likely given the extent of the fires and water demand - lack of pump capacity.
Second water treatment capacity. Unless they can manually bypass the treatment plant that would be the second bottleneck after pumping capacity.

Fire water systems separate from potable water systems are not common. They could have it, but wouldn't believe it until it is proven.

No - the hydrants in the Palisades are on a different system - they are gravity fed. That means there is a big reservoir on top of the hill that was supposed to be filled with water. It wasn't filled. So, the hydrants went dry.

Why wasn't the reservoir filled before fire season? Who the fuck knows.

The reason only 4% of the LAFD is female, is because they have NOT amended the actual fitness test.

The CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) is very damn hard, and there is still only a single standard for all applicants.

I suspect the main focus of the new Diversity Bureau was to bring in the ol' two physical standards scam.

P.S. There is no way that the Diversity Chief in the video could currently pass the CPAT. Clearly "management" is exempt from the physical standards.

Shit, *I* couldn't do that job, and I'm a relatively in shape guy in my 30's.

Do you know how hard it is to get in to a fire department in a major city? Very in demand jobs with very high standards for fitness.

My buddy who is an FDNY EMT has told me stories about their physical tests, like running up a fully extended ladder truck, grabbing something from the top, and running all the way back down in a certain amount of time.

I would probably be out of breath before I froze in fear half way up from the high heights. This woman? No chance in hell she would pass that test.

The 1st thing they do is show you "happy firefighter Joe" as a normal person and then show him as he puts on each piece of equipment and still confirms he's still "happy firefighter Joe" and not a monster. By the end, you have NO CLUE who is in the uniform, so caring about what someone looks like so they can look like you is pointless. And that was something interesting. They didn't do all this detailed ratings demographics they do now. The general ratings weren't all that great, but the show absolutely killed in the young boy demographic.

It would've been seen as a gold mine for selling toys and stuff. They would probably have more spin offs than Law and Order just for that.

425 Mind you, we are talking about Los Angeles! This is the town where every male in their 20s knows that the best way onto an action movie is to have washboard abs and bulging biceps. Also, more bulk harms the surfer-dude in wave-catching ability. Lastly, but most importantly, women love guys who are cut without a lot of fat. But if you really want to throw a DEI pitch, the boyz and gurlz like it better when other boyz and gurlz(preferably durdy) have hot bodies.
I can imagine a DEI Lesbian feeling left out of both the straight and queer dating scenes.

A few years ago a neighbor had her mother fall over out in their back yard and she couldn't her up. Mom was fairly overweight and I am no spring chicken but I got her up and inside without too much fuss.

430 When I worked in a convenience store, I'd ask the EMS crew if they had any 500 lb.+ calls. Then I heard about the "extractions" - cutting through the walls to get access to the the clients, the resort to bringing in flatbed tow trucks, or boom trucks; lifting and moving the patient while being swarmed by cockroaches, etc., etc.

Not an easy way to make a living. 99% good people.

I married him three years later and we are still together with kids and now grandkids. He was a PITA the first year and would break up me each season for no reason. But still was around. I laugh that I argued with him that I was not straight nor with him at that party.
