Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Biden's "Business" Associates in China Hack the US Treasury DepartmentWe're here. We're at the end of 2024. It's been, as they say, a journey. It started miserably and is ending a high note. And it should get better from here. But until then, Biden's legacy of shame continues to deliver. Fox News:Meanwhile, all the Marxist propaganda outlets embargoed the clear photographic proof of Biden meeting with his son's Chinese "business" associates, because of course they did. They've lied about this for five years. They're not going to stop now. Nelson's first of two articles about the newly-released photos was stamped 12:45pm ET on Friday afternoon, yet none of the Big Three evening or morning broadcasts subsequently mentioned the damning new proof of Joe Biden's participation in his son's business dealings. Last night, ABC's World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News led their broadcasts with winter weather, while the CBS Evening News began with the passing of CBS Sports broadcaster Greg Gumbel. This morning, ABC's Good Morning America, CBS Saturday Morning and NBC's Today provided a combined five and a half hours of news programming -- but chose not to utter a peep about the new Biden scandal headlines. Do we really think hacks like this won't happen under Trump? I think they will. China has so infiltrated the government and Deep State that it would take a complete top-to-bottom overhaul to weed them out. Do we have the will? No. No we don't. Too many people getting paid off.

Power Line had a really bizarre take on this:
Currently, we are in a cybersecurity standoff with the Chinese, the Russians and others. We can read their “secure” communications, and they can read ours. Where on Earth did Hinderaker get the idea that we can read the Chinese and Russian secure governmental communications? I mean, not that we'd be disclosing it if we could read the comms, but this just sounds like complete wishful thinking. After all, the resources of the "intelligence community" have been devoted to surveilling Americans, not foreign governments. Posted by: The ARC of History! at December 31, 2024 12:08 PM (uxCna) 32

He sent more funds to Ukraine to pay pensions and salaries of Ukraine government.
Starting tomorrow, Ukraine is going to refuse to transport Russian gas through Ukraine's pipeline network to Eastern European counties. The teensy problem is that the Russians were paying 85% of the costs of maintaining the Ukrainian natural gas pipeline network, so the Ukrainian natural gas pipeline company has announced that the charges for domestic transport of natural gas will have to quadruple. But a whole lot of crappy bank, investment, and other financial places only allow SMS 2fa for online stuff. The only solution if they allow it is switch to passkey. But that's really spotty on android or just turn off all the online stuff and have kind of a handicap slow dealings with your money. Almost 15 years ago (yikes) I worked for a company that processed cell phone data.
There were two major vendors for cell phone switches and few smaller providers. We had to convert the traffic data into a standard format depending on the vendor. Over the course of a few months the market was overtaken by Huawei switches. They were straight up copies of Alcatel IIRC switches and they sold them to the telcos for half the price. I suspect that is how China has hacked our cellular network by having "mirror ports" on the switches that dump duplicate packets out that they store and read. This is how the NSA does it also. Posted by: Diogenes at December 31, 2024 12:17 PM (W/lyH) I worked for a few years at that large airplane company. The stress engineers at the time were required to have a stress folder at their desk. The folder had to contain the step by step instructions for every analysis and sizing they were ever allowed to do. You were required to follow it exactly. And they told you the purpose was if you were kicked out, or they dropped a nacelle on your head (oops!) they could plop another warm body at your desk. Eventually, as you might guess, they replaced all that with a menu of fortran routines. Of the twenty careers interesting to Gen Z, not one is in a STEM field, and most are what one might call “creative” endeavors, which tend to share certain characteristics such as low or non-existent wages, no benefits or retirement funds and little opportunity for employment. On the plus side, most can work from home.
One arguably should pursue their dreams, but as I’ve always done, never give up their day job. Apple watches and iPhones aren’t going to dance, sing, influence or blog themselves into existence. Ensign James Earl “Jimmy” Carter graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946, and applied to join the Navy’s nuclear submarine community a few years later, according to the Navy.
Assigned to the experimental attack submarine USS Barracuda (SSK-1), Carter had served as executive officer, engineering officer and electronics repair officer by the time he crossed paths with then-Capt. Hyman G. Rickover, the future admiral widely credited with birthing America’s nuclear sub fleet and ending a Navy practice of naming submarines after fish. Following that interview, Rickover soon tapped Carter to join the nascent effort. On temporary duty with the Naval Reactors Branch to help design and develop nuclear propulsion plants, the junior officer at times struggled to keep up with Rickover’s demanding pace. Through much of 1953, Carter served as the engineering officer for the USS Seawolf (SSN-575), the Navy’s second nuclear submarine. But life soon happened, and following his father’s death in July of that year, Carter resigned his Navy commission and returned to Georgia to oversee his family interests. The onetime junior officer later entered local politics and was elected president in 1976, serving one term.
Decades later, the Seawolf class fast-attack submarine USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23) was commissioned in 2005. -------- All quotes from "The War Zone" website. The author likes him some Jimmiah Carter. Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden have in common, besides the obvious of being one-term terrible presidents, is that they were transitional figures in the Democratic Party when it was lurching to the left, but unable to make enough concessions to the left to save themselves from their own party’s hostility.

Posted by: Xipe Totec at December 31, 2024 12:55 PM (pohLc) _____ Same in every industry. I think it's mainly because the will isn't there any more. When I graduated law school, I went to work for a top law firm in NYC. I knew the deal: high pay, high workload, very long hours. I knew the chances of making partner were low. I accepted the deal. As the years went on, the newer recruits were less willing to accept the deal, because they didn't want to work the hours, and because the chances of making partner became virtually zero unless you had special connections or the right ethnic background. The firms started looking to foreigners (mostly Nigerians). Like the Indians in tech, they were willing to work much harder because for them, it was much more than the money and potential promotions. It was a visa and eventual citizenship. Posted by: Elric The Blade at December 31, 2024 01:02 PM (iFTx/) 197

I had a stats course at university where if your calculator couldn't handle at least six digits past the decimal, you were screwed.
The answers were multiple choice on a scantron: A, B, C, D, E, A and B, A and C, etc. If you were off by five decimal places past the point, you got the answer wrong. Less than 50% passed the course. Posted by: Thomas Paine at December 31, 2024 01:14 PM (e+fCf) 217

Posted by: Xipe Totec I have a relative that's planning to go to school in engineering. He will be one of the white kids looking for work when he graduates and fighting all that competition. But there is a path where a company he's interested in will potentially do an internship in an engineering-adjacent career they need workers in. If he survives the internship, he has a guaranteed job with the company. I keep debating if that's the best path, because then you're beholden to that company and you have no official degree. But you have good work. All the Visa talk the last few days has made me think maybe this path isn't so bad. Posted by: LizLem at December 31, 2024 01:21 PM (gWBY1) 223
