Shock Study: DEI Training Teaches People to Find Racism Where There Is None, Increases Hostility Between the Races

In other words, it's working precisely as it's intended to.

New study finds DEI initiatives creating 'hostile attribution bias'

Using materials from within the DEI movement, the study measured 'explicit bias'

By Jasmine Baehr
Fox News

New research from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and Rutgers University reveals that some diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training methods may cause psychological harm.

The study, released on Monday, shows significant increases in hostility and punitive attitudes among participants exposed to DEI pedagogy covering subjects like race, religion and caste.

This hostile attribution bias may contribute to increased intergroup hostility and authoritarian behavior in the long run, according to study co-author and NCRI Chief Science Officer Joel Finkelstein.

"What we did was we took a lot of these ideas that were found to still be very prominent in a lot of these DEI lectures and interventions and training," said Finkelstein in an interview with Fox News Digital. "And we said, 'Well, how is this going to affect people?' What we found is that when people are exposed to this ideology, what happens is they become hostile without any indication that anything racist has happened."

...

As DEI programs have become a major area of investment in recent years, their actual effectiveness remains a topic of debate, with NCRI's study suggesting they may exacerbate tensions rather than alleviate them. The study measured "explicit bias, social distancing, demonization, and authoritarian tendencies" with both the DEI materials and control materials.

Their study included sharing anti-racist DEI materials from thought leaders like Ibram X. Kendi and "White Fragility" author Robin DiAngelo with participants involved. Specifically, the NCRI focused on materials which emphasized awareness of and opposition to "systemic oppression," popularized by texts such as Kendi's "How to Be an Antiracist."

Those exposed to anti-racist materials were linked to heightened perceptions of racial bias in the study. Participants were also more likely to support punitive measures against perceived offenders of so-called "microaggressions," even in the absence of evidence.

You don't say. You don't say.

"And when people are supposed to see anti-racist material in the ideology, it looks like what happens is that they become more likely to punish for any evidence of wrongdoing," said Finkelstein. "That includes protesting people, calling for dismissal, demanding public apologies, receiving people calling for their relocation. These punitive measures are, in some cases, costing people their jobs."

Wow. Five years into this vicious racist madness and academics are finally actually looking into it.

Take your time, though, "Experts." Take your time.

These results suggest that anti-Islamophobia training inspired by ISPU materials may cause individuals to assume unfair treent of Muslim people, even when no evidence of bias or unfairness is present. This effect highlights a broader issue: DEI narratives that focus heavily on victimization and systemic oppression can foster unwarranted distrust and suspicions of institutions and alter subjective assessments of events.

I'm learning so much of what I already knew.

Here comes a big shock:

One key takeaway from Finkelstein in the NCRI study is that the authoritarianism that comes from hostile attribution bias looks different in the 21st century.

According to Finkelstein, those who are likely to carry hostilities are "people who are higher in what's called left-wing authoritarianism. This is now a steady phenomenon. We the people have been studying right-wing authoritarianism since World War II. It's really only in the past 10 or 15 years that people have started saying, 'Wait a minute, this is on the left, too."

You don't say? Really?

...

When reached for comment, Kendi slammed both Fox News and the study, calling it "pseudoscience."

As opposed to Henry "Ibram Kendi" Rogers' true racist science.

The report says that when people were exposed to Robin D'Angelo's and Henry Rogers' racially-incendiary claims, they were much, much more likely to claim that they were experiencing "microaggressions" based on nothing at all. They compared groups primed by reading these "anti-racist" books to normal, uninfected people. The uninfected people were chill. The "anti-racist" people saw racism everywhere, claimed non-violent people were committing "literal violence," and assumed that anyone evaluating them must be white. (That is, they assumed that anyone whose race they could not see but held a grudge against must be white.)

A little bar graph for those of you who enjoy graphs and/or bars.

A couple of years ago they were holding some kind of training sessions (via Zoom, as this was during the Sniffle Scare) that were not mandatory -- but "It is expected that they will eventually be required of all staff." Now we just get emails about the DIE programs that already exist.

I was hoping to hold off on going to even a single one until they forced me, and I thought maybe by then I'd be retired. Looks like its half-life was shorter than they thought -- at least here.

And to compare this to the political persecution through abuse of law enforcement authority used against Trump and others, um, wow. Those abuses likely literally involved law-breaking, but clearly were based on misuse of authority for political purposes.

Fascism is socialist heresy. Mussolini broke with the rest of the socialists over the question of whether you could support your own country in WWI.

I read White Fragility in early COVID days.

I don't know how anyone could read that book and not say "this is a recipe for disaster."

The tl;dr is all white people benefit from a system intentionally designed to benefit white people (mostly men) at the expense of everyone else. And the only way to fix the system is to loudly proclaim that you're benefiting from a racist system and to "give POC space to give their perspective."

Which in practice is a life long struggle session that you can never get out of (as a white person) and a life long dislike / hatred of white people / "the system" for non white people.

Doesn't sound like a recipe for good race relations. Also, let's important millions of more non-whites as immigrants and teach them the same stuff. That'll make them love America and assimilate.

Further, I think there could be an additional claim of Religious Test violations. DIE as an extension of neo-marxism is a quasi-religious movement, aka cult. The original literature speaks in terms that popped up in the 70s/'80 spiritual, new age nonsense. "Woke" is a new age term.

Which is why every sane countries immigration policies focuses on DECREASING "diversity" by heavily encouraging people to assimilate to the dominant culture and leave their "old world" ways behind.

Strangely, the US and recently much of Europe, have decided to go in a different direction when it comes to immigration and assimilation in recent years.

79 I mentioned this somewhere else: I, actually, think the term of Islamophobia can actually be pursued as liable. Initially, it was "name calling" and generalization. But, as world governments (ours include) and the UN worked the term into legislation, edicts and plans, it gave the accusation stature. And, what is Islamophobia?

Well, A “phobia” is defined within the medical community as: an anxiety disorder, defined by an irrational, unrealistic, persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation.

So, when a media representative, a "community organizer" or even a private individual label you as an Islamophobe, they are saying that you possess a medical anxiety disorder. They better be able to back that up if they make that statement online, in the media or in other established public places. Because if they can't we've moved into the realm of Libel. By legitimizing the term, they made it's use potentially actionable.

Definition of equity - The value of the shares issued by a company. "He owns 62% of the group's equity"

Now, equity means, per NACE: "fairness and justice
The term “equity” refers to fairness and justice and is distinguished from equality: Whereas equality means providing the same to all, equity means recognizing that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to imbalances."

And like the Black Lives Matter, the more educated, wealthier & connected individuals greatly benefited, while the working and government subsidized classes just got angrier.

Posted by: Jukin the Deplorable a Clear and Present Danger

It starts out with artificial ideas about what is "fair" to people, the haves versus the "have nots". The "haves" have too much stuff, money, and power, which is what the "have nots" want.
So when people start resisting what others think is fair (gimme your stuff and money!), then that's when the shooting starts. Or guillotines. Or gas chambers. Or mass deportations to concentration camps.
It always ends this way.
You can vote yourself into socialism, but you usually have to shoot your way out. Milei in Argentina may prove the exception.

She mocked him. He was clearly, in the quote, making the point of, what is discrimination? But she used it to imply by him asking the question, he clearly didn't know and must be stupid. (She was black, I think she felt that gave her a pass to mock him.)

Then later on, she said conservatives are welcome to express opinions, everyone is welcome, we need diverse thoughts too. Nuh uh. “The Pentagon is worried that Pete Hegseth will immediately cut off funding for the nearly $86 billion the Pentagon has spent on DEI initiatives. This sounds great,” the post reads. “START NOW!”

The post in question is misleading, though. The Pentagon has only spent $86.5 million on DEI programs, not billion. In 2023, the Pentagon asked for $114 million in new DEI incentives following a failed audit, ABC33 reported at the time.

The Pentagon has earmarked $162 million for DEI initiatives for 2025. While Hegseth has not publicly announced any cuts to the Pentagon’s budget, experts believe that one of the changes that will be implemented will be a significant reduction in these incentives, according to The Washington Examiner."

Their total naivete and lack of interest in self-reflection is growing tiresome at this point.

They can start correcting that willful blindness by stopping these totally incorrect notions of "far left" and "far right" as Socialists vs. Fascists.

The actual political-economic spectrum ranges from Anarchism to Totalitarianism. All forms of socialism, including fascism, fall on the right side of that scale.

America's liberal, democratic, republican form of government falls on the center-left of that scale.

Once they rearrange those basics in their minds, maybe then we can get somewhere.

Never, ever give a reference. Send it to HR to do - there is a fine line where you can get slammed with a lawsuit, or from the other end, you did not disclose relevant information. There is always the potential of neutrality language in a severance agreement that typically is cheaper than a lawsuit as frustrating as that might feel. HR and legal have made this tightrope walk, let them walk it. Most people know, but you may not, I have been a global HR Exec for 2 very, very large companies.

Federal EAP’s are the first component of an Employee Wellness Program and should be designed to support and uplift the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, which include emotional, physical, occupational, intellectual, financial, social, environmental, and psychological aspects. Prioritizing each dimension based on employees’ individualized needs can lead to a healthier and more positive lifestyle and state of mind. While Federal EAPs can include a variety of resources, supports, trainings, and services for individuals, managers, and agencies, the services outlined below should be standard in any Federal EAP.

Cultural Competency Services:

Cultural competency services are designed to increase the ability of individuals to understand and respect values, attitudes, and beliefs which may differ from one’s own views or culture and can be instrumental in supporting and fostering diverse workplaces and healthy interactions. Which are things the vast majority of people have experienced. 268 10 years ago I was required to attend a day-long Diversity class at a FedGov Agency. My take-aways from that class were:

1. Wondering what I had done wrong all my life. I didn't feel I had wronged everyone I encountered who wasn't white and male.

2. Questioning how someone 'diverse', in other words, not pale, male, and with a Christiam upbringing, could improve my Agency's high-tech hardware work. Improve our work that is grounded in math and physics, simply because they were female, or had a non-white skin color, or a non-Christian religious upbringing, or grew-up in a non-white urban or suburban environment, or ate much different food than I did, or wore strange clothing, or spoke with an accent. What 'new and better ideas' could they offer in designing a space mechanism simply because they had one or more of of those 'diverse' characteristics. I'm still wondering how that is supposed to be.

DEI is a sledgehammer against "white US Culture," wielded by people who resent white US Culture. IMHO.

Yeah. These kinds of things happen every day to every person.

In the BLM era, I remember liberal white news anchors talking about how sad it was that black parents had to have "the talk" with their kids about how to interact with the police.

Like yeah, my parents had that talk with me too. Some variation of "roll down the windows, hand on the steering wheel, don't admit anything, don't argue, say 'yes sir' and 'no sir' and you can argue about it in court."

But I think a lot of black people truly believe that white people get away with whatever they want and cops are nice to them. We don't, and a lot of times, they're not.

But that belief fucks with black people. Because instead of following the basic etiquette, they think the cop is going to shoot them, so they run or do something stupid and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Pharma ads are primarily about two things -- 1) to check a box for "informed consent" on the side effects of a drug and 2) to buy off the media so they don't run negative stories about big pharma and to get favorable coverage from the media.

1) hasn't changed in recent years.

We've fallen a loooong way from the days of Archie Bunker and George Jefferson. Two sides of the same coin that helped to show us that we could (and should) laugh at bigotry and ignorance while still seeing them as human and having more than a little in common with the "common man." We almost closed the book on overt and foul racism...

Way back when I was a yoot in highskrewel — probably 1980-ish, I was at a lunch table where some girl classroom acquaintance blurted out during one of the wide-ranging discussions we had the she "hated Puerto Ricans." Then she looked over at me and said, "But you're ok." I just laughed. It was her damage to deal with, not mine. Still is. It was a great "Archie Bunker-type" moment.

I would pretty much laugh in the face of anyone who called me a racist, and say "It takes one to know one."

That's the long and the short of it right now. RFKJr mentioned that Roger Ailes was sympathetic to something he wanted to run about childhood vaccine safety or something like that. Ailes was sympathetic, but told him that if they ran that story, he'd get a call in 5 minutes and would have to fire everyone involved, including himself.

I watch a lot of cop body cam / dash cam videos. It's shocking how quickly some people (especially minorities) escalate situations with the police.

Instead of being tazed and spending the night in jail, did it ever occur to you to just accept the ticket for having a taillight out? Then going to court and telling the judge you fixed it and getting off with no / low fine? I know its annoying, trust me.

But isn't that preferable to spending a night or more in jail?

293 But I think a lot of black people truly believe that white people get away with whatever they want and cops are nice to them. We don't, and a lot of times, they're not.

But that belief fucks with black people. Because instead of following the basic etiquette, they think the cop is going to shoot them, so they run or do something stupid and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

It's kind of a zombie department. Originally created when the two service departments (War and Navy) didn't have much in the way of organized medical services. I interviewed a doctor during the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill. They stood out because they were still wearing Woodland pattern uniforms, which they used because they had no budget, and there were lots still in federal inventory. They were basically a sort of wartime hospital system in waiting and did gigs like the other services, doing health screenings and stuff.

Bird was funny. One game he was yelling at the opposing coach who had a white guy guarding him for "disrespect"

Jordan had a similar thing when he heard a pretty good defender and a turned ankle and wasn't playing. He asked who was guarding him and after getting the name just laughed and said "50". He got 50.

310 I am against DEI initiatives in nearly all respects, and I would love a study that comes along and proves that they cause harm. Unfortunately this study doesn't do that. It only shows that, well, training works.

If you take an online course about the local birds in your area, you will most certainly be able to name more birds when you go outside. And if one of the birds it shows you is an airplane and it provides a legit bird name, if you didn't know any better you would learn that too. And a study would show that the training worked.

So in this case, it's saying people were trained to see "micro aggressions " (eye roll) and behold, they now see them. It doesn't really get to the real matter, whether this is a real thing or not.
