Oof: Now USA Today and the 200 Newspapers Owned by Gannett Will Also Withhold Their Presidential Endorsement

Jen Rubin will praise USAToday columnists for resigning, while refusing to resign herself.

So many Nazis and Fascists in the media now!

Gannett-owned USA Today and the chain's more than 200 other newspapers won't endorse a candidate for president -- joining the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times in choosing to stay silent on next week's election.

"None of the USA Today Network publications are endorsing in presidential or national races," a spokesperson for USA Today, Lark-Marie Antón, told the Hill.

Antón said that while Gannett-owned publications won't endorse candidates in national races, they do have "discretion" to endorse at a state or local level.

"Many have decided not to endorse individual candidates, but rather, endorse key local and state issues on the ballot that impact the community," Antón told the Hill.

"Why are we doing this? Because we believe America's future is decided locally -- one race at a time," Antón said.

"And with more than 200 publications across the nation, our public service is to provide readers with the facts that matter and the trusted information they need to make informed decisions."

Even the gonzo campus leftist media is strongly signalling that Kamala just isn't up for the job.

27 The newspaper non-endorsements are actually quite important.

Considering that The Regime is considering a color revolution/coup to keep Trump from taking office, the more cracks in the "Trump is Literally Hitler" facade, the more difficult it is to block Trump, and the less likely it is that they are going to try.

28 This is just creating the impression that Kamala is a failure and will probably have some minor effect on turnout.

A few hundred or thousand soft Democrat partisans deciding to just sit it out because it's not worth the trouble because this is the sign that they'll accept that she's a loser.

It will combine with other individual points convincing tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of soft Democrat partisans from making the effort.

Remember, Democrats assured the public that they fixed the problem of Joe Biden and his presidency by calling Trump Hitler after he got shot in the head and casting off their primary results to install an unpopular idiot as their nominee through backroom deals that did not involve their actual voters.

This was to have zero negative consequences because upper middle class white women loved that their drunk black friend that they sometimes invited over finally had representation in an Indian woman.

I think, possibly, that having a total loser for a candidate might actually have the opposite effect, and drive turnout.

Think about it... Politics is a stand in for faith and community in our atomized society. It's core to the identity of most voters. If the candidate looks weak, it might make people *more* motivated to vote and get her over the line since she's so feeble.

91 84 I think, possibly, that having a total loser for a candidate might actually have the opposite effect, and drive turnout.

Think about it... Politics is a stand in for faith and community in our atomized society. It's core to the identity of most voters. If the candidate looks weak, it might make people *more* motivated to vote and get her over the line since she's so feeble.

92 People don't read dead tree political endorsements any longer. Newspapers are well aware of this. That's one of the reasons many papers are phasing them out.

People no longer read dead tree editorials, either.

In STL, candidates used to trip over each other wooing the Post-Disgrace for endorsements. The Post scheduled interviews with them. Guess what? Those interviews have gone the way of 8-track players & Blockbuster.

If they're cast adrift without any landmarks or a compass, hey, they may sit home, or listen to a Trump-favoring friend, when they would have done neither had their daily rag endorsed KH.

Anybody who was wavering is going to see this "no endorsement" wave and possibly come down on the Trump side, even if it's only a case of "I don't want to back a loser!" (As if this were the fifth race at Belmont.)

Another thing:

They did that sort of thing in 2022...without pushback.

250,000 illegally sent out ballots in PA.

It's very weird that they're not doing it again

There's an easy answer to that; they are saving the money from mailing them and just printing completed ballots.

Authorities said Justin Davis arrived at the voting location at around 9:00 A.M. and presented his driver's license to horrified poll workers who immediately called the police to report the blatant act of racism. "There's no place for this type of lawlessness in California," said Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Paul Marquez.

Long-time skeptic of AI. I'm not going to say AI can't exist, but I'm pretty skeptical given what I know about computational theory. However, it definitely is the type of extraordinary claim, that I'm going to need to see extraordinary evidence for.

Whereas Turing's test just flips the burden to the people who want to claim that the human brain is not "mechanical thought", by institutionalizing Turing's biases into dogma.

I'm also pretty sure that given even a partial sense of positivism, people who prattle on about "The Simulation" currently have no referent to point to for a Russelian declaration "X is a Simulation".

What's giving me pause is not just that 3 papers (so far) have declined to endorse, but why wouldn't they? Couple this with the fact that most of the factions didn't force Biden to quit, means that they have another reason to cut bait and move on and try and paper over the business.

461 Not sure if I can choose a favorite Rush song. Probably Jacob's Ladder, if I have to pick one.

Agree about Time Stand Still -- it means sooooooooo much more to me as I get older and lose loved ones.

Favorite deep cut -- probably Available Light.

Absolutely love the chorus in Turn the Page...
"Every day we're standing
In a time capsule
Racing down a river from the past
Every day we're standing
In a wind tunnel
Facing down the future coming fast"

Not only have they taken a hit on Biden's confidence and know-how, but they also have taken a hit they can't totally deflect about "safe and effective Covid vaccines" and the like.

At this point, they want to go back underground until they can recover a little more of their reputation. They feel that it is bad enough that they can take a break and retreat underground.

And this scenario implies they will rely on the forgetfulness of the American public (which hopefully, will be less forgetful than they think).

That's how you get circulation numbers, like how CNN got ratings from airports.

529 Stupid people as Irish pols sitting on a volcano aka the Irish people. Too many experienced there in violence from the Time of Troubles that can and has in the past made Ireland ungovernable.

I don't think those pols realize that they are considered expendable by the oligarchs pushing importation of a servant welfare class throughout the West.

These pols often aren't even pretend Irish. I think the head of it has some India-Indian names. Not that that is a real answer there are plenty of Ireland hating Irish out there, they just are getting boxed out with the Irish.

530 Yeah. Seems way over the top since no one died. I can think of many cases where people walk after shooting people in broad daylight. Like that immigrant who stole a cops gun and shot a woman on the san francisco pier.

Likely they don't want this guy talking to anyone. The Pelosi gang looks to be entering a succession crisis, especially if the Biden coup blows up in their face.

537 So on a standard Mensa Test Kamala hits the 95th percentile. Agreed she's pretty smart. But then most of the students I went to law school with at Boalt Hall back in the day were hitting the 98th or 99th percentile--which is why we were at Boalt and Kamala went to Hastings.

But the other thing I discovered in a 40 year career as a lawyer was that there are a lot of highly credentialled folks who just weren't that smart about the real world. As my old drill sergeant Bobby Jean Rowlands might have said, I doubt Kamala could drain piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel. She could however figure out how to get on her knees and rise in the world.

I mean, she was only quitting me, but that's something.

542 They bought 200 local papers, and turned them into woke mush, destroyed them.. That's 40 papers per state

Sorry to bring math to the blog, but that's 4 papers per state, not 40.

543 The local Gannet Owned "Peoria Journal Star" is giving it's full throated endorsement of Kamala.

The Democratic Party has nominated the person who is clearly the best choice, Vice President Kamala Harris.

As a lawyer, former Attorney General of California, former senator, and Vice President, she has the first-hand experience and knowledge it takes to be a resilient and successful president and to solve complex problems.

She leads with strength, clarity and intelligence. She is a compassionate leader who cares about all Americans.

In November, vote your conscience.

Remember, it’s not about just you and me. Democracy is about giving all Americans a chance to live in freedom and improve their lives. If it wasn’t, it wouldn't be worth saving.
