Polls Are Made for Strippers But Early Vote Totals Are Made For Queens

The early vote in Nevada is Stronk for Trump.

Of the seven battleground states -- Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and "the other one," as Kamala Harris calls Michigan -- Nevada was taken by everyone I've read or heard as the best state for Kamala.

And it's not going well for her.

The early votes aren't being opened and counted-- but we do know who voted and which party they registered with. If you assume that all Democrat vote for Harris and all Republicans vote for Trump -- which isn't true, but it's close enough, with defectors cancelling each other out mostly (except to the extent defections favor Trump) -- you have a rough idea who the state is voting for.

Nevada is made up of three parts: Clark County, which is Las Vegas, and the rural vote, and everywhere else. Clark County is Democratic and Democrats need a lot of turnout there to offset the very Republican rural vote.

Clark County isn't turning out as much for Harris as she needs it to:

Good evening again, blog mates.
SOS is reporting today's ballots, and I now feel like I am in the upside-down world. In past cycles, I would be telling you how the Dems were slowly building a firewall in Clark (tens of thousands more ballots than Republicans). They have successfully done this in every presidential election since 2008.
But the opposite is happening: Thanks to a rural tsunami, the GOP has moved out to a substantial ballot lead:
18,500 ballots, or almost 5 points
The rural firewall, the R advantage in the 15 smaller counties:
21,000 ballots,
The Clark firewall is at 5,000, or just 2.5 points in a place where Dems have a nearly 7 percent registration edge.
In Washoe, the swing urban county, Rs have a 4 point lead, just above their registration advantage.
Nearly 400,000 people have cast ballots, or just under 20 percent of registered voters. If turnout is 1.4 million out of the 2 million registered voters, that means almost 30 percent of the vote is in.
There is no good news in these numbers for Dems, who are basing their hopes on a deluge of mail ballots coming in during the final days and perhaps the day or two after the election (They can be counted for four days after Nov. 5.) and a very favorable split among indies in urban Nevada.

That's insane and unconstitutional and, of course, an invitation to mass vote fraud, which is the purpose of this policy.

There are about 100,000 non-major party voters in the mix, or 12 percent of their total -- that's substantially lower than the turnout by both major parties and part of the reason I think we should discount most Nevada polls. No one knows how they will break, although Dems are optimistic because they skew young, as Andy Bloch has pointed out.
But even if Kamala Harris has a 10-point lead among indies in the current makeup of the electorate, if Trump is holding his base, he is ahead by 6,000 votes or so. Not a lot, but a lead nevertheless.
Look at the urban/rural numbers:
The Rs have actually lost a few points off their rural lead -- something to watch -- but it's still large enough (37 points) to produce a huge lead (21.000 votes). I still find it humorous that the Ds have a slight turnout advantage in the rurals but are still getting crushed because of the overwhelming registration disadvantage. In the urban counties, the Rs have a turnout advantage, including 5 points in Clark and just under a point in Washoe.
Details:
Clark is turning out at about 3 points under its share of the electorate while Washoe is about 1 point below and the rurals are now 4 points above their share. That explains the GOP lead pretty succinctly. Seems unlikely that will hold as Clark ballots pour in, but we shall see.
I expect another mail dump late tonight that will help the Dems, but the Rs will still have a big lead when we wake up tomorrow.

He then updated:

Mail came into the Clark file overnight, with Dems gaining 4,000 votes overall in mail Wednesday. But not nearly enough to offset GOP in-person advantage. So:
Statewide GOP lead: 17,000, or 4.2 percent

Clark firewall: Just under 7,000, or 4.5 percent
Statewide overall turnout: 409,000, or 20 percent
If turnout is 1.4 million, nearly 30 percent of the vote is in.

Ralston also said at this point in time Ds usually have a +40k ballot lead.
Gop leads by 17k.

Oh, as I mentioned the other day, the GOP's early vote is made up of fewer high-propensity voters than the Democrats'. Which means the GOP is getting lower propensity voters to turn out more than the Democrats are managing.

The highest propensity voters don't even really matter in early vote figures because you know that they're going to vote, either early or late or on election day. These aren't the votes you have to work to get.

And the GOP is turning out more of the votes they have to work to get than the Democrats are.

In Florida, early voting swung from D+7 (in mail in voting) to R+8 after the start of early in person voting on...Monday.

It's looking like Trump is going to win Florida by DeSantis 2022 levels.

There's a greater chance that Trump wins FL by 20 than Kamala wins.

And all because DeSantis fired Brenda Sykes and cleaned out 800,000 non-voters (all Democrats) from the voter rolls.

Every Republican governor not doing this is in on the steal in 2020.

I personally think this is a long way from over. Democrats have shown they have no limits and their only care is to get votes over the finish line. The. You have a short memory. The “red wave” election was not only lost through fraud and electoral subversion, but was ultimately permitted by low turnout from Republicans who admitted they thought it was in the bag.

What I am also hearing is that Democrats are attempting to save down ticket races, especially in the House, because they feel that will stop Trump and Republicans from completing their agenda. They have even told some voters if they don’t like Harris to vote for Trump, but vote straight Democrat down ticket. There are also some weird things going on in California which we know will permit fraud in the House races where Republicans currently hold the seats (I think about 7). Keep your eye on that. It’s going to be a problem.

It is MUCH easier to turn out your workforce base if you have 40 days vs 1. Dem base (teachers, students, welfare, etc) just have more time to show up if it's all on 1 day.

73 Ace, I am convinced that Harris has to take PA in order to win. Count today has Trump at 262 base so he can win with either WI or PA. This take assumes Harris takes MI which I don;t think she will. My prediction is 312 and I think PA is in the bag thanks to Scott Pressler's fantastic job at concentrating on that one place.
I also agree that an overwhelming win will help Trump actually change things quicker with a mandate. I really think he could end up with the popular vote too which would be devastating to the coastal elites who think they are untouchable.

To me, the act of voting early is what's Unconstitutional. There is a specific day outlined in the Constitution. Take it to the extreme, why can't I vote a straight Republican ticket two years from now?

In Pennsylvania something like 3 million have early voted out of 9 million. 1.3 million (D)'s have early voted and are expected to vote again on November 5th, only to be told they already voted. They will then be given a 'provisional ballot' and vote again.

A Pennsylvania judge will order the provisional ballots be counted and Kamala will win. The Supreme Court will refuse to take the case.

I've been following this analysis for a couple of weeks, and I'm not all that engaged by it.

Not that it can't be ever, but just that this year...the numbers are very close for both parties. Comparing 16% to 17%.

Is that a difference? Yes. Is it statistically significant? Probably not. There apparently was one in VA in 2023 that pushed R's earlier much more than D's, but it seems like that's an exception.

Essentially, I think the voting patterns have set, there's no real change from previous elections, and both partisans for both parties are going to be showing up at similar levels in early voting until there's another massive change.

PA Senator Bob Casey, who voted nearly in lockstep with Biden, is running ads in PA talking about how he can work with Trump. That's not a red flag, that's a Batman signal of distress.

Just one more factoid. Early voting totals are most useful for crude analysis of turnout. There is also a Senate race in NV btw where the Dem incumbent Rosen had a sizable lead (near double digits last I checked) but that could be a sleeper if there is in fact a preference cascade.

It's going to be called within 30 minutes of closing, and only because the news rooms believe it should be a battleground.

R's are already leading in terms of overall votes in early voting (never happened in the state before), and the unaffiliated lead to the right there pretty hard.

Plus, all the cleanup including the new rule around voter ID (I was in line with guys last week who'd never had to show ID before and were asking if they really had to).

They have been not just encouraging early voting for months but have been identifying and targeting low propensity voters. It isn't just Democrats that can do micro targeting.

They don't just count votes they know who is voting and they are going to use that data to target people who haven't voted by Election Day to get them out too. These guys weren't hired to be placeholders for the old RNC team, they were hired to win the election, Trumps and down ticket.

They might succeed or they might not but they aren't winging it.

The thinking is, voter fraud tends to happen in early voting. Dem numbers are low so far.

Very hard to get "fake" people to stand in lines and vote (but it obviously happens)

I'm not quite as invested in the fraud narrative as some, all it takes is 1-2% less Republican turnout and you have what happened in 2020. I think early voting makes a big difference and we were late to the game.

A bit of both. Musk has taken the lead on GOTV in at least some states with his superpac. Traditionally, the GOP has sucked at GOTV because it wanted to and the old way was to only turn out base voters that would be sure to vote for Team Red. They neither wanted nor tried to turn out people that might not favor the corporatist agenda but opposed the Dems on social grounds like trannies and gay marriage. Plus campaign staffs got a lot less moolah as far as GOTV commissions versus ad placement and robocalls.

A Christian Science Monitor article recently laid out the grousing of the GOP campaign consultants (most likely sidelined) by Trump in not doing the ad blitzes and concentrating on GOTV instead.

That is more a concern for the opinion class. A lot of potential votes for the GOP are economic and social. Crime on the streets, inflation, and unemployment rather than gulags is a more likely to low propensity voters.

Basically, you only see massive mobilization of the electorate when times are bad and people fear it getting worse. Won't know whether or not it happens until sometime after election day.

Sponge -I'm not sure what faith tradition you follow. Early in my daughter's treatment, we traveled to Finlay OH to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. The examples of healings attributed to this left me in awe. After that visit, I prayed every day asking for Her to intercede for my daughter. My daughter started her 5 week radiation regiment today and hopefully stays cancer free after this. I must make another trip to that shrine in thanksgiving.

I share this and if you'd like I'd like to send you some medals from there. I'd like to send a few so that perhaps they could be shared with that poor kid nearby, or others you see at the treatment center. I do respect your anonymity, but wanted to extend the offer. Email in link.

Had a long conversation with a woman of color recently. What animated her the most was the cost of groceries for her family. Living where I do with a farm behind me I was able to offer a graphic illustration of farmland, how it was no longer fertilized, how fertilizer was made from natural gas, and how three tractor trailers took the crop away before.

Now it is one single tractor trailer. What do you think happened to the price of that food?

That is why the GOP, even in red states, refuses to clean up its voter rolls, file criminal charges against non citizens and felons voting, and other such issues.

I live in a GOP state where the top GOP elected state officials have done exactly nothing to clean up the rolls, eliminate a pestilent urban area cheat, etc. There is a reason for that.

I admire people that put up Trump yard signs, and the WSJ did an analysis in AZ and said Trump is winning the sign game.

But it's the same with bumper stickers. I feel it does nothing to the votes a candidate gets (at least on a Presidential level) and just puts my property in the tiger's eye. Not worth getting my car keyed.

I hope they did. Ohio ,due to the unappreciated Ken Blackwell, fixed their elections for a decade due to concentrating on cleaning up voting rolls.

DeSantis followed that and upped it by getting rid of notorious Brenda Snipes for her continuing criminal enterprise going back decades in Florida as election supervisor.

The path is clear but I think the donors and the GOPe establishment want to be able to 'cross the aisles' to consort with the Dems in order to do shit like elect Phelan as House Speaker to support grifting and state funded special deals for donors.

That is ultimately why I am not a big fan of business class types running for office. By and large, they go along to get along in office and they often value acquiring more wealth in office instead of benefiting their voters.

400 As a Washoe County voter, it was pretty interesting voting yesterday. It was a steady stream -and where I vote, it’s more R’s than D’s.

The Dems are panicking for sure. But Clark always cheats, so I have to wonder if they will be doing the same stuff they did in 2020.

No ID needed to vote, but the worker checked my signature and I had to sign an affidavit that I would not vote twice.

A lot of the Californicators who have moved here are probably not voting for Dems. They left Cali because of the craziness.

I am hopeful we can overcome the steal. I think the independents probably favor the R’s. Lots of bed wetting by Dems. I think they know she is toast but are holding on to fantasies like “ independents will vote 2-1 for Kamala”.

I just don’t see that as realistic.
