Poor societies often produce people that treat kids like dirt. Childhood prostitution was common in England during the 1700's to 1800's for example. A lot were (and still are runaways), often abused at home sexually or by violence, and sometimes used to raise income for the parents rather than for the wellbeing of the kid. We used to take a wire saw and cut an X in the tip of .22 LR so they would fragment. Even a 22 will turn things to mist or at least satisfyingly small chunks when you do that.

Depends on the bullet. The old standard 55 gr boat tailed fmj tends to keyhole when confronted with a solid barrier similar to the notorious Mark VII 303 bullet did. Vic is dead -- that is such a loss. I felt that he was a long lost neighbor to me, living as he did at the time in the vicinity of Florence and Sumter, SC when I first encountered him here -- I had lived nearby in Camden, SC.

His is my second loss of a close person. I learned several weeks ago that my graduate school housemate, Wayne "Plane Wave" G, had passed away in May. It's funny -- since then a selection from Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" (one of Wayne's favorite albums) showed up in the sidebar here. Then clips from "Maverick" and "Simon and Simon" surfaced in my YT feed (those were favorite shows that we original four housemates liked to watch -- Wayne was from San Diego).

Yeah, the story is that Democrats are heavily down in early voting compared to 2020. They're up slightly compared to 2022.
Essentially, Republicans are voting like it's 2020 and Democrats are voting like it's 2014.
Presidential vs. midterm behavior.
Will that extend through the entire early voting period? Will it reverse on election day?
Well, the first hasn't happened yet, and we're a week in to most early voting. Dem advantage margins continue to erode (like in PA) while Rep advantages are appearing and rising (like in NC and FL).
We'll see, but I'd much rather be Trump than Kamala right now.
