A black, deaf Google employee -- who had been celebrated at corporate events and on social media as a success story for the search giant's inclusive workplace -- has accused the company of discrimination based on her disability and race.
In an explosive lawsuit filed in the US Northern District of California, Jalon Hall -- the first and only black, deaf hire at Google, according to Wired -- slammed Google for limiting her access to sign-language interpreters months after starting the job.
In the complaint, the worker painted Google's management environment as hostile and racially charged.
She cited Google's manager at the company's machine-learning research program calling her an "aggressive black deaf woman" and advising her to "keep her mouth shut and take a sales role".

Google also excluded her from roundtable discussions and passed her over for promotion due to "inaccurate evaluation" after three years, according to the suit.

"Google is using me to make them look inclusive for the Deaf community and the overall Disability community," Hall told Wired. "In reality, they need to do better."

On LinkedIn, Google had praised Hall for "helping expand opportunities for Black Deaf professionals," while on Instagram, the corporation had featured the research analyst "for making #LifeAtGoogle more inclusive."
Google recruiters promised Hall, who joined Google as a content moderator in 2020, that sign language interpreters would be provided "and can be fully accommodated," Wired reported.
Months later, Hall was assigned to enforce YouTube's child safety regulations, but managers refused interpreters to assist Hall in reviewing the content, according to Wired.

Why does a deaf woman need help from "interpreters" when reading?

A transgender high school tennis coach who, despite complaints of inappropriate behavior, was rehired due to concerns of "transphobia," has now resigned after a pair of videos surfaced of him engaged in vulgar behavior.
David Yates (pictured), who goes by "Sasha," got his job back via a 6-2 vote by the Gettysburg Area School District board last summer.
Yates had been dismissed after various complaints, including "changing in and 'walking through' the girls' locker room," and "talk[ing] to students about undergarment preferences and menstruation."
But he later reapplied for his coaching position, and a solicitor recommended he be rehired -- else the district could face a lawsuit.
Many in the local community favored Yates' rehiring, claiming transphobia was behind his firing in the first place.
But as The Daily Wire reports today, many of Yates' supporters now "have gone silent."
That's because board member Michelle Smyers received an email late last month containing a pair of videos along with the message "Thought you might find it interesting how your high school tennis coach spends her weekends."

In one video, screenshots of which were reviewed by The Daily Wire, [Yates] appears to be smoking meth, with the assistance of a woman, and asks, "Am I a good meth whore?" In another, Yates -- a middle-aged British man -- is seen bent over a counter wearing a black bra and having sex with a man wearing a ski mask.

Smyers, one of the board who had voted against rehiring Yates, said other board members had "privately agreed that Yates should not work in a school, but they were afraid to say so publicly" out of fear of being labeled "intolerant."

The Trump campaign has spent more than $19 million on two television ads that have aired nearly 55,000 times since Oct. 1, according to data from AdImpact. Make America Great Again Inc., the leading super political action committee supporting Trump, has spent more than $1.1 million during the same time period on a similar ad that has aired more than 6,000 times.
The campaign's ads are playing in all battleground states and airing during NFL and college football games, a Trump campaign official said.
The ads focus on taxpayer-funded gender transitions for people in prison and immigrant detainees. They use Vice President Kamala Harris' comments from 2019 in which she said she supported transgender inmates having access to gender-affirming surgery. She made similar comments in an American Civil Liberties Union questionnaire in 2019, saying she supported "medically necessary care" for federal inmates and detained migrants.
"Kamala is for they/them," one ad says. "Trump is for you."

Kamala's as good at campaigning in Pennsylvania as she is at doing any task that doesn't involve a dick:

As Pennsylvania remains a crucial state in the presidential race, top Democrats in the state are voicing frustration over Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign operation. Much of the criticism focuses on Pennsylvania campaign manager Nikki Lu, whose lack of engagement and understanding of the Philadelphia political scene has stirred concerns among local leaders.
Lu has been described as "AWOL" by multiple Democratic figures, including elected officials who say her absence has left them feeling disrespected and sidelined. A Democratic official noted, "I feel like we're going to win here, but we're going to win it in spite of the Harris state campaign." Many point to Lu's background in Pittsburgh and a perceived disconnect from Philadelphia's dynamics as a key problem for Harris' campaign.
Compounding these issues, minority campaign staffers have reported feeling excluded from major events and decisions. Latino and Black leaders met with Harris' team in recent weeks, pushing for a more inclusive strategy. Mariel Joy Kornblith Martin, a former Latino coalition manager for the campaign, left after just two weeks, citing inadequate access to crucial voter data. In a memo to state party leaders, she wrote, "Please give us the tools to win," stressing that Pennsylvania's diverse electorate requires a targeted approach.
Local officials also complain about being left out of important campaign decisions and feel that the Harris team is neglecting critical relationships that could boost voter turnout. Ryan Boyer, a powerful labor leader in Philadelphia, remarked, "I have concerns about Nikki Lu," pointing to her lack of connection with the city's political circles. Other Democratic leaders believe that this lack of local knowledge has hindered effective outreach to key voting blocs.

Black Lives Matter activists are accusing Heinz of publishing a pair of "racist" ads: one apparently omitting the appearance of a black dad character -- supposedly an insinuation that the condiment company believes most black households are fatherless -- and the other allegedly reminiscent of Jim Crow-era minstrel shows.

The first controversial commercial, part of the U.S. food manufacturer's campaign called "Family Portraits," celebrates an interracial couple on their wedding day. Specifically, the graphic shows a black bride indulging in Heinz's new family-sized pasta sauce at her reception while relatives look on in amusement. Seated to her left appears to be her newly wedded husband, who's white, and an older black woman meant to be her mother. On the other side are the groom's parents, presumably. Apparently absent is the bride's father, not pictured.
Racial justice warriors took to social media to rage-tweet about the advertisement, with some saying it embodies the "erasure" of black fathers in mainstream media. Another called it "subliminal messaging," a means of "perpetuating myths" about black absentee fathers. Leading the pitchfork army is Guardian contributor Nels Abbey, author of "Think Like a White Man: A Satirical Guide to Conquering the World . . . While Black."

Others, chalking it up to limited space on the advertising board, reasoned that the graphic's designers must have wanted the bride, who had dripped some of the spaghetti onto her white dress, to be featured in the middle, and to achieve symmetry, a parent had to be left out. Notably, every single ad in Heinz's series has only five people in the picture.
Perhaps the giveaway is what's written in the bottom right-hand corner of the ad: "Based on a true story."

I'm always fascinated that people find these videos. Every once in a while you hear about some kid discovering an adult in their circle does pr0n. Given how many millions and millions of pr0n videos are out there, I wonder what the odds are of this happening.

70 I always found it hard to comprehend how effective sign language interpreters are. They have to have a very broad yet deep understanding of topics. I.e. I went to a residential magnet school for my junior and senior years in HS. We had a dead girl there with an interpreter. You mean to tell me he could interpret AP physics, AP american literature, AP Spanish? Plus it was weird having this 30 something year old guy hanging out with highschoolers after....the girl was super cool though and very sweet. It just blows my mind that that was his job for 2 years.

Yeah, the first few episodes, where he us a fish out of water, were funny.

However, I noticed that Taylor Sheridan's dialogue is very hit or miss, and there is no substantial character development. Compared to Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Sheridan is a smart monkey at a typewriter.
