I saw another quote where he said something like he wasn't going to participate in Kamala's fantasy role-playing as president. Nope: DeSantis didn't fault her for "trying to cosplay as president," it was RedState writer Bonchie who said that. I should have known that my man Ron is too macho to know about D&D and LARP crap.

Meanwhile, reporters scream at Biden to please say something bad about DeSantis. He says, instead, DeSantis is "cooperating" well about the storm.

More than that. A lot of Dems eyeing 2028 might want her politically dead and buried so she is not a candidate in 2028 and doesn't run the party until then.

Factionalism in political parties often take the same form as the markets--fear and greed. Greed for potential moving up if Harris loses and fear that they will be punished if Harris wins.

Even some in the media is beginning to turn on Harris. Dunno it is whether to burnish its objective credentials before trying to knife Trump/Vance via some sort of pussygate hit mid October or because they think she is a loser and this is battle prep for objectivity before they go after Trump in office as in 2017.

Kamala's ads, and I live in a swing state, are all negative--nothing positive and that means Kamala is trying to run a base election with wall to wall negative ads. Trump and Musk apparently are really relying on paid and volunteer canvassers to register, get votes, track votes, etc. to a greater extent than any recent GOP campaign has ever done in recent years. Closest comparison was Bush 2004 but that hinged mainly on two swing states--Ohio and Florida but the Bush GOTV got the GOP its last popular vote majority in presidential elections.

I knew a few partners like this during my career at the big NYC law firm. While the big law firms hated this type, some were major rainmakers and thus could get away with it. You could see them from a mile away. It couldn't have even more obvious they were selecting secretaries, paralegals, junior associates, etc for the sole purpose of trying to fuck them.

Actually they do on the Dem side. Killary was an exception but usually a failed nominee never gets a second chance at the brass ring. Given Kamala's burnout in the primary in 2020, that is likely to replicate in 2028 if she loses. Notice Killary did not even try for a rematch in 2020 and she had more political chops than Kamala.

I think the last time that the Dems nominated a past presidential election loser for presidential races was Adlai Stevenson which they did twice during an era of a weak Dem party. Before that it was Williams Jennings Bryan.

The GOP rarely does it but Nixon was the last one before Trump.

DU is reflective of True Believers who buy any narrative that gets shit out by the NYT. They will applaud the next braindead figurehead that the establishment forces through a nomination process.

However, DU is more reflective of the establishment than the base. I think the base of the Democrat Party, the ones who vote regularly in Democrat Primaries, nationally end up kind of where they were 30-40 years ago. They're still majority white. They're still not all that woke.

What makes that evident is how urban centers can't manipulate the primary process like they can the general election. Starting in places like NH, IA, and SC creates this mix that heavily trends towards more moderate seeming candidates (Biden's always been far left, but he had the image of mod) that can't be manipulated through cheating mostly because of SC. IA is turning into a joke because its caucuses are no longer predictive, and NH tries to balance out SC, but NH is just so much smaller than SC.

It turns on SC (which, for the D party there, is majority black but still kinda moderate). And then you go through the MW.

It also seems that Kamala rubs a lot of key people wrong over time but unlike Killary--they are not afraid of Kamala apparently.

Part of it is cosmopolitanism where these cloud people float around until they find a host to leech from. In a way, she reminds me of the late PM Sunak in GB. Starmer seems of the same ilk and might very well be offed by his own party.

Cloud people in office are being used to cover the deep fissures caused by a variety of issues in the West and that means governments are relying on coercion, censorship, bribes, and fear to get an increasingly cranky 80 percent to get with the WEF program. I think though the sleeper problem that the GOP has in Florida is homeowners insurance. Basically insurance companies are fleeing the state so someone has to pay for all that construction destroyed by hurricanes so people can live on the beach and waterways.

These two recent ones are likely to spike insurance rates even higher. Same dynamic is going on at less dramatic rate in auto and home insurance in other states. States that allow legal marijuana are seeing large spikes in car insurance payments. Same for places with a lot of illegals that ignore traffic laws like they do immigration laws.

Uncle was actually much happier as a trial judge than a lawyer. As a lawyer, he worried about losing and its affects on clients plus the see saw income that trial attorneys get. As a judge, he saw his job as being a fair referee with the jury and counsel to blame for decisions, not him.

Corporate counsel can often be a good gig as well. Working for a big law firm only gives satisfaction much if you make partner and can coast in the job.

Big law has a similar apprenticeship/master relationship with academia and professors. Clear hierarchy between replaceable work drones and the tenured.

Could be that your brother cared too much. I know my uncle who handled everything from insurance to death penalty trials cared about doing well for his clients and tended to lose sleep over a good client losing a case due to his own efforts as a lawyer.

He had a bit more enjoyment when he got to work with other good lawyers in combination on a trial. Even had a Perry Mason type case that made Dateline where he and two others successfully defended an off and on again boyfriend accused of murdering his girlfriend.

They exposed shoddy police work in the case that led to the real offender living just down the apartment block from the murder that had been convicted of something similar in the past where the victim lived. Real perp had fingerprints on a discarded condom wrapper that the police bagged and tagged but never tested.
