Only seven guineas

Fine boy -- boy for sale
He's yours to keep
For one thousand pennies
You can work it out
That's four pounds three, slightly under four guineas
Knocked down from seven guineas
Three pounds what, sir?
Certainly not sir
Any advance on three pounds ten, then

63 Love this painter's use of light, both moonlight (especially through clouds), soft sunlight and artificial. Nothing harsh, just enough to bring out colors in a landscape and create a mood in a manmade environment. Sort of a pre-Thomas Kincaid. Many of his town scenes have curves, whether a road going into the distance or a stone wall following the property border. It softens the harder elements of buildings and other stone works. It gives a softer, peaceful feel to his paintings. It's relaxing and pleasant. I would hang most of his works.

121 How to smuggle hurricane relief supplies past FEMA: from the Bee
1. Inform them you simply need to stock the boys' bathrooms with tampons: This is the kind of aid FEMA can really get behind. 2. Disguise all of the insulin as puberty blockers: A basic human necessity. 3. Hire a team of orthodox Jews from New York to dig an underground smuggling tunnel: It's entirely possible that one already exists.
4. Carry a Donald Trump scarecrow with you: Just watch all the government employees flee in terror.
5. Label all of the boxes "Kamala Harris Ballots": Surely FEMA knows all voting precincts are waiting on shipments of those. 6. Create a diversion by having a meerkat and warthog dress in drag and do the hula: Works every time. 7. Let all FEMA agents know that there's a DEI training session starting back at base camp in 10 minutes: They never miss those! 8. Fly a Ukrainian flag from your supply boat: No self-respecting U.S. government worker wants to keep President Zelensky from getting his supplies. 9. Put on a poncho, sombrero, and fake mustache so they won't stop you from going anywhere: "¡Hola! ¿Dónde está el huracán?"
10. Tell FEMA all the supplies are for illegal migrants.

130 If the wind doesn't get you; if the storm surge doesn't get you, the elevation of bacteria in the flood waters will eat your face off:

"Florida residents have been warned to avoid Milton's floodwaters where possible over the risk of deadly flesh-eating bacteria.

The state's health department says Milton's storm surge will contain increased levels of Vibrio bacteria.

It can infect people with open wounds, or those who have compromised immune systems or liver disease.

Diabetes sufferers and those with cancer are also more vulnerable to Vibrio infections.

Heavy rainfall and flooding like that expected to happen during Milton increases the concentration of Vibrio in the water."

I could see having an inspector to ensure that patients are presented with a brochure stating that you'll be injected with a substance not intended for internal use, it almost certainly won't improve your looks and there's a non-zero chance you'll die. Failing that, issue a fine. Most people don't read fine print so it won't actually impact these enterprises.

That gate we see in the wall would just be for pedestrians -- a garden gate, I suppose.

Ultimately this is all about trust. Having absolute trust in the government is irrational – but so is having NO trust at all. When people assume it's all a lie, it's all fake, it's all corrupt, they can't engage rationally with the world. Rebuilding trust bit by bit is Job #1.

On Friday @MarcoRubio was casting doubt about government data, alleging the jobs report was "fake." Today he is imploring Floridians to believe government data – specifically @NOAA's forecasts – and heed evacuation alerts. See the problem?
Ultimately this is all about trust. Having absolute trust in the government is irrational – but so is having NO trust at all. When people assume it's all a lie, it's all fake, it's all corrupt, they can't engage rationally with the world. Rebuilding trust bit by bit is Job #1.

Saying that the government created 700,000 jobs that it probably didn't just to make Kamala look better is not a way to do that. Consistently revising numbers downwards under Democrats and upwards under Republicans is not a way to do that. Paying hospitals for covid deaths to juice covid stats is not a way to do that. Saying that every hurricane is going to sink Florida into the sea is not a way to do that.

Hiring Sam Briton was not a way to do that.

200 If the wind doesn't get you; if the storm surge doesn't get you, the elevation of bacteria in the flood waters will eat your face off:

"Florida residents have been warned to avoid Milton's floodwaters where possible over the risk of deadly flesh-eating bacteria.

The state's health department says Milton's storm surge will contain increased levels of Vibrio bacteria.

It can infect people with open wounds, or those who have compromised immune systems or liver disease.

Diabetes sufferers and those with cancer are also more vulnerable to Vibrio infections.

Heavy rainfall and flooding like that expected to happen during Milton increases the concentration of Vibrio in the water."

I see it more as, the Democrat Party is entering the final stages of a political machine where they cast off any concern for the voters' will and degrade governance steadily as concerns for the graft outweigh any concern for anything else.

This works if, like, say, Richard Daley, you can control voting within a closed environment or, like James Curley, drive out enough of your opposition from where you govern that opposition just vanishes.

Will it work in a country as large as the US? 2020 seems to indicate that it can, but 2024 is not 2020. We'll see how things work, how blatant the courts allow Democrats to be in violation of law...again.

Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, was denied a new bank account because of a political “cancel mob,” his mother, Melania, claimed of “serious concerns about civil rights violations.”

The former first lady said her son, who is now 18, was told he couldn’t open the account at her preferred financial institution in the weeks following the Trumps leaving the White House in early 2021.

“I was shocked and dismayed to learn that my long-time bank decided to terminate my account and deny my son the opportunity to open a new one,” Melania wrote in her new memoir, “Melania.”

353 American Thinker: Jack’s 'October Surprise' is a Dud

- By issuing the Motion in October, the DOJ violated its own rule, which precludes the release of information within 60 days of an election, if the information could affect the election.
- After waiting three years, this prosecutor released his allegations just 33 days before the election — in time to affect voter preferences, but just late enough to deprive Trump of time for a rebuttal.
- For several months, Trump had been subject to a gag order because Smith felt Trump’s comments could influence potential witnesses. Now, however, Smith has decided that it is O.K. to influence potential witnesses — and potential voters.
- According to Trump’s attorneys, the Motion was issued before Jack fulfilled his obligations to provide all exculpatory evidence to Trump (Brady Rule).

366 Will it work in a country as large as the US? 2020 seems to indicate that it can, but 2024 is not 2020. We'll see how things work, how blatant the courts allow Democrats to be in violation of law...again.

========
All Democrats are doing is spurring the end of the regime. We simply get to fedgov collapse quicker with the Dems and have a slightly better chance of averting it or ameliorating it with the Trump/Vance but that requires GOP officeholders take off their gimp collars for big donors and get on board with MAGA.

Principles won't win the coming fights nor will stale cheap imported illegals for domestic jobs nor outsourcing to cheap countries for other ones. Also means an end to messing around in foreign wars and staying behind our US Navy moat.

The Defense Industrial Complex and the Chamber of Commerce corporate cheap imported labor/outsourcing/departure of domestic industry interests have to literally be eviscerated.

In Red states, too many softy GOP voters vote with Dems in the primaries to get shitty assholes like this in office. Mitch loves that type to pick for GOP senatorial candidates after they serve a term as governor, etc.

That model should be dead and I blame the upper middle class twits that do not like to pay taxes that lean blue on social matters due to their educational credentials.

These are the same assholes that resist cutting illegal immigration because they get cheap labor out of it.
