Redding Record Searchlight

A California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection employee has been accused of starting a series of small fires this summer in Sonoma County.

Cal Fire law enforcement officials arrested Robert Hernandez, 38, of Healdsburg, on suspicion of arson on Friday morning, the state agency said.

Hernandez is a Cal Fire apparatus engineer who is suspected of starting five fires in the areas surrounding Geyserville, Healdsburg and Windsor in August and September, investigators said. All five fires combined burned less than an acre of wildland.

18 It sounds like Newsom got this veto right:

Newsom wrote that he shares the "desire to enhance consumer privacy," noting that he previously signed a bill "requir[ing] the California Privacy Protection Agency to establish an accessible deletion mechanism allowing consumers to request that data brokers delete all of their personal information."

But Newsom said he is opposed to the new bill's mandate on operating systems. "I am concerned, however, about placing a mandate on operating system (OS) developers at this time," the governor wrote. "No major mobile OS incorporates an option for an opt-out signal. By contrast, most Internet browsers either include such an option or, if users choose, they can download a plug-in with the same functionality. To ensure the ongoing usability of mobile devices, it's best if design questions are first addressed by developers, rather than by regulators. For this reason, I cannot sign this bill."

Posted by: JQ at September 25, 2024 04:25 AM

It became unprofitable within a year or two of 'choice' here in Pennsylvania. The program allowed people a choice of who they would purchase their electricity from. (I know, disregard that aspect for now) So the lefties bought their power from 'green' suppliers and snubbed their nose at nuclear. So Three Mile Island was limited in the amount of power they were 'allowed' to sell. So they shut down when expenses were higher then revenue.

You're welcome. I admit I chose the largest supplier of hydroelectric in the state. Great 'teaser' rate for 12 months, then bam! Price through the roof.

I like hydroelectric power, look at Norway, they probably have the lowest electric rates in the world and probably use three times as much per household as the average in the USA. But the left hates hydro because they hate everything good.

Thanks, JQ. If the thing stays on its predicted course, we will be fine -- and maybe more than that. 83 You never really know how any military will match up until you see them in action - everyone thought France would easily defeat Germany in 1939. What actually happens counts far more than all the armchair analysts predictions.

Which brings up one of big surprises of the Israeli conflict so far. We had all assumed Iran was itching for a fight, and would jump at any excuse. A lot of Biden’s foreign policy was based on that assumption. Now Israel has deliberately and openly provoked them, daring Iran to do something. And every time, the Iranian leadership has cowered and backed down. The Iranians love to talk a lot of shit, but their actions shout that they are terrified of getting involved in any real war with Israel. (They should be, of course)

101 interesting, over at Insty:

"A FRIEND SENDS A PREDICTION: “Wild guess, we’re due for a fake assassination attempt on Kamala they’ll blame on Trumpy rhetoric. Dominant storyline the next 6 weeks.”

Yep. Got rid of the Trump assassination attempts in something closer to 6 hours, but this will be different. And probably racist, notwithstanding that Janet Jackson says Kamala isn’t black.

The President of Argentina, Javier Milei.

This is sharp contrast to all the wanna-be dictators like the President of Turkey and Columbia.

108 Apparently if you live in Ohio you can bring criminal charges against somebody else. In this case, a pack of allegedly cat eating Haitians are bringing charges of aggravated menacing, complicity, telecommunication harassment, making false alarms, and disrupting public services against Trump and Vance.

I never had this on my lawfare bingo card.

Good morning, Hordians. They're scheduled to start replacing the roof today. We have three pallets of shingles sitting in the driveway. All they have to do is show up, which is open to question.

Horace Rumpole gets hired to conduct a private prosecution.

I wonder of the Haitians now have to hire their own prosecutor.

115 Hadrian, no metal roof?

Posted by: Ben Had at September 25, 2024 07:04 AM (I1GXe)

116 Morning peeps
-------
Hadrian, if the roofers show up make sure you've got any fragile wall hangings off their hooks. We had our roof replaced in May and, wow, the amount of banging, dust, etc. was off the hook.

Plus an antique photo of my grandmother took a dive off the wall and shattered.

121 "Nancy Pelosi’s husband sold more than $500K worth of Visa stock — just weeks before DOJ’s antitrust lawsuit"

So here's the question: did the Pelosis know in advance about the DOJ suit, or did they instigate it? Democrats are so crooked it's entirely possible they just have DOJ sue companies to pull up the ladder after they've made money on them.
