Gallup: Young Women Are More Woke and Politically Shrill Than At Any Point In History; Completely Unrelated: Young Women Now Celebrating the "Empowerment" of Dining Out -- Alone
Totally unrelated matters. I don't even know why I'm putting them in the same post. It just makes no sense for me to put two stories with absolutely no shared connective tissue in the same post, but I've got Monday Madness!
Young women are now more leftwing and hateful towards their many, many out-groups than at any other point in the last 20 years of data.It's not just that they lean left, which women, particularly young women, have always done. It's that hardline progressive Marxism is now a core part of their identities as human beings.
Young women are more liberal than they have been in decades, according to a Gallup analysis of more than 20 years of polling data. Over the past few years, about 4 in 10 young women between the ages of 18 and 29 have described their political views as liberal, compared with two decades ago when about 3 in 10 identified that way.
For many young women, their liberal identity is not just a new label. The share of young women who hold liberal views on the environment, abortion, race relations and gun laws has also jumped by double digits, Gallup found. Young women "aren't just identifying as liberal because they like the term or they're more comfortable with the term, or someone they respect uses the term," said Lydia Saad, the director of U.S. social research at Gallup. "They have actually become much more liberal in their actual viewpoints." Becoming a more cohesive political group with distinctly liberal views could turn young women into a potent political force, according to Saad. While it is hard to pinpoint what is making young women more liberal, they now are overwhelmingly aligned on many issues, which could make it easier for campaigns to motivate them. ... Young women began to diverge ideologically from other groups, including men between 18 and 29, women over 30 and men over 30, during Democrat Barack Obama's presidency. That trend appears to have accelerated more recently, around the election of Republican Donald Trump, the #MeToo movement and increasingly successful efforts by the anti-abortion movement to erode abortion access. At the same time, more women, mostly Democrats, were elected to Congress, as governor and to state legislatures, giving young women new representation and role models in politics. The change in young women's political identification is happening across the board, Gallup found, rather than being propelled by a specific subgroup. Taylor Swift's endorsement Tuesday of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, after her debate against Trump, illustrated one of the issues where young women have moved to the left. Because they are, by and large, not. It also wouldn't work because virtually none of them are actually "incels." It manifests differently in women. Women - especially young women - can always get sex if they want it. More important, they can outkick their coverage and sex from better men (richer, handsomer, fitter, etc. - values don't enter into it because values are passe).
There are female incels, but it's rare. What's far more common is female bedwarmers who can't get a man to put a ring on it, because they insist on outkicking their coverage and it appears fun when you're young and hot. Thus the "situationship" and other such nonsense.
But these are not incels for the most part. Most of them get - or can get - plenty of sex. They cannot get a relationship, though, and that's the root of the failure. Most of these girls probably had sex within three months of their "me time" date - but the sexual partner wasn't willing to take her out.

It would also be instructive as already pointed out in this thread the overlap between "extremely liberal" young (white) women and psychiatric diagnoses (the trends of young white women getting more liberal and reporting psychiatric illnesses track one another) and their consumption of psychotropic medications (suppressed libido is a side effect).
Also never mentioned in these pieces is that young men have gotten only slightly more conservative over the same period of time - in other words, the political drift is almost entirely young white women getting more leftist.
This is obviously a bad trend and one which will have deleterious effects for the nation so of course it was by the design of leftists and they are excited about the prospects of harvesting the political power that it generates.

No, this is a new phenomenon of young-ish women who can't really stand to be in the presence of men. Theoretically a numale with spirit pre-broken type would be politically acceptable but they're both rare and insincere so these young women would rather be alone than to deal with any man as he actually is. (And the numale doesn't light fires of passion anyway).
They're also on SSRIs and other pharmaceuticals which suppress their libidos, so in their self-conception they're not lacking something (because they've been more or less chemically spayed and experience little to no sexual desire). They'll probably migrate en masse to some new identities on the Alphabet spectrum which (instead of drawing their attention to the chemical reasons for their lack of sexual interest) will solidify their temporary, chemical situation into an "identity" which cannot be questioned or criticized.
They do vote though.

My son, who went to school in Cambridge, has more liberal leanings than I'd like, but he's at least reasonable and happy-go-lucky about it all. She's a dour, sullen mess whenever topics stray into things that get her riled up. And there's absolutely no reasoning with her when she goes there. Really quite sad and frustrating.
It seems young women love the rage and self-satisfying indignation of screaming platitudes. The empowerment movement has unleashed a lot of this attitude and fury, with no substance to back it up. The ego-stroking catharsis of yelling at a nonexistent bogeyman counts as mental health in some way.

Well, there is no "later." Women have *one* shot at it, at it happens between about 18 and 26. Get past that, and the impediments pile up exponentially while demands skyrocket on the back of declining potential. Then you're trapped either way. You can "settle" with a man who's willing to be a consolation prize and resent him, or you can keep failing and resent the whole world.
The entire "wait, 'find yourself,' work and get to marriage eventually" scheme is doomed to failure.

100% agree.
My only quibble is that it's impossible for any young woman to be involuntarily celibate unless she weighs 300 lbs, is ugly as homemade soap and nuttier than a fruitcake, and even in that case there's some guy out there that will hit it immediately upon request.
That's the reason they can give the guy's shit for their situation but it's nowhere near as effective on chicks.

Because they are, by and large, not. It also wouldn't work because virtually none of them are actually "incels." It manifests differently in women. Women - especially young women - can always get sex if they want it. More important, they can outkick their coverage and sex from better men (richer, handsomer, fitter, etc. - values don't enter into it because values are passe).
There are female incels, but it's rare. What's far more common is female bedwarmers who can't get a man to put a ring on it, because they insist on outkicking their coverage and it appears fun when you're young and hot. Thus the "situationship" and other such nonsense.
But these are not incels for the most part. Most of them get - or can get - plenty of sex. They cannot get a relationship, though, and that's the root of the failure. Most of these girls probably had sex within three months of their "me time" date - but the sexual partner wasn't willing to take her out.

There are a number of things that could be done to try to reverse the trend. Will any of them work? I dunno.
End no-fault divorce. No second chances. No arbitrary termination of marriage. That isn't enough, but it would help.
End the "tender years doctrine." Default custody to the father should divorce occur.
End non-child spousal support beyond a small amount for limited time periods.
Those would help. The core problem is a dislocation of basic desires. Generally, and with a broad brush, women want relationships and men want sex. That's why it's best to keep them bound together, and to enforce the dependency. Girls remain chaste until *after* they secure commitment, and men remain on the hook for their children - directly - should the marriage fail. Women get relationships, provision/protection and children. Men get relationships, sex and confidence in paternity. We, like every successful human culture, already solved this disconnect once.

When I graduated in engineering, it took me 2 years to get my first engineering job. The 4 women that graduated with me out of about 60, all had jobs waiting for them way before they got their degrees. I had to do projects with a couple of these girls and I hold nothing against them, but there were dozens of better white guy candidates that waited a long time for their big break.

It's a normalization effort. They need to make it okay to have failed in the primary human ambition. Being a failure in this theater is *bad* and it feels bad. It has the potential to be psychologically totally destructive.
So it needs to be not-failure, a different definition of success. That's what this is, and its purpose. "You feel like you're a failure and you even *know* that you're a failure, so let us help you redefine it as alternative success."
It may help to keep the wheels on, psychologically. Probably not, but I suspect that's the reason for it. And nobody has to be specifically behind it. People find a way to rationalize and this isn't a very profound manifestation of it.

Traditionally, women always tried to date "up". Get a man higher on the socio-economic ladder than them. That worked fine until the last couple generations, where women are no getting degrees and good paying jobs at higher rates than men, but still only wanting to date up.
Powerful business women can marry their male secretary and have him become a stay at home husband/father, but they don't. It's weird.

Bear meat is a bit of an acquired taste. It's also very dependent on what the bear was eating before you eat it. I've had bear that was pretty tasty -- not delicious but tasty -- and bear that was barely tolerable. When it's good, it tastes like darker, more flavorful pork with maybe a slightly sweeter flavor.

It's an odd evolution in that the appearance of wealth is usually inversely related to actual wealth, especially for young people.
If you want to look rich, it takes a *lot* of money. The designer clothes, the hot cars, the boat, the fancy apartment or house, the expensive restaurants and bottle service at the club, etc. It takes a *ton* of money to do that, and the odds that the person doing that actually has any left over - or even isn't up to his eyeballs in debt - is pretty small.
But the actual rich dude in your town probably drives a normal car, lives in a nice but non-ostentatious house or apartment, wears normal clothes, isn't buying bottle service and probably works as an engineer or other professional of some variety, or is a successful tradesman.
But say "plumber" or "engineer" to a girl and she turns into the Sahara Desert. They no longer think, "ah, stability or potential in that one, maybe I should let him take me out." Now they think, "ugh, he already gave me the ick."

I took a vacation this year, by myself. Tourist destination, few locals and so conversations with strangers are usually about where you're from and what you're doing in town. I got multiple sympathetic looks when I said I was there alone. One dude even invited me to join his little pickup beach football toss because I was alone and he felt bad about it.
Dining, this has never happened. Or movies. That's the only time. I really did stick out bigly for being there by myself.

BUT, I saw maybe 2 women I would list as anywhere near attractive during my visit. All of them are over weight, unkempt, and dressed like someone going outside to paint the barn. I doubt that this is an isolated thing. It was just too prevalent.

These days women in college outnumber men 60-40 and there are probably more colleges than ever. Just by statistics, you are going to have more normal to plain gals around. Tie in Marxist unpleasantness and bitterness and you get an unattractive package. Then if standard classes, even liberal art ones, get hard, you can just go feminist and womans studies and slide by.
