The NY Times is Whining About Memes Again. That's a Good Sign. The Last Time the Drearily Pious Atheists Were This Exercised About Memes Was 2016.

By the time the Arizona Republican Party's digital billboards urging Phoenix residents to "EAT LESS KITTENS" and "Vote Republican!" went up on Tuesday, the story they referred to had already been widely debunked.

The Marxist Media claiming something has been "debunked" does not mean it's been debunked. They've lied so many times, and always in the same ways, that people take their claims of "debunking" as confirmation of the claim.

And that's on them.

The previous week, claims that Haitian immigrants were stealing and eating pet cats in Springfield, Ohio, had begun circulating on social media. None of the reports had been substantiated, and local officials in Springfield -- a small city where, in recent years, public services have been strained by a large influx of Haitian migrants -- said they had seen no evidence that any of them were true.

1, governments which are instrumental in allowing this invasion are always lying to protect themselves from criticism of their open-borders, pro-invasion policies, and

2, there are citizen claims this is happening. The citizens claim they've seen this. This is "contested," not "debunked."

Major conservative media outlets had given them only fleeting attention.
But while the story has so far not proved credible, it has proved meme-able -- and that has given it a life far beyond the right-wing internet.
For days, images and videos of former President Donald J. Trump and cats have proliferated online, delivered with a knowing wink and an understood endorsement of Mr. Trump's hard-line immigration message. Their over-the-top imagery gives them the feel of an inside joke. A "just kidding" is implied, allowing political figures who might otherwise have hesitated to circulate debunked material to get in on it. The reality is beside the point.
Memes have been a regular, if enigmatic, feature of American politics since the primordial days of social media. But the early months of the Trump-Harris race have offered a twist on this familiar phenomenon: More than once, memes that are mostly or completely detached from actual events have spilled off the internet into the three-dimensional reality of the campaign itself.
They are now on the billboards in Arizona and were, more significantly, on the debate stage Tuesday night, where Mr. Trump exclaimed: "The people on television say their dog was eaten by the people that went there!"
Mr. Trump's debate remarks have themselves become a meme on the left since Tuesday, as musical remixes of his comments have ping-ponged around Instagram, TikTok and other social platforms, mocking the pet-eating claims while also prolonging their stay in the news cycle.

The attention has been unwelcome in Springfield, where tensions over immigration have flared since an 11-year-old boy was killed last year when a Haitian immigrant driving without a valid license crashed his minivan into a school bus.

"They're killing 11-year-old boys, not cats" is not the winning message you think it is, New York Times.

Mostly from a Town Hall meeting in Springfield where many residents complained about the degenerates killing and eating geese. Nobody disputes they're eating the geese. There were also claims that pets mysteriously went missing, and eaten by the illegals. I don't think they're hard proof of that, but I believe it. Trump's best strategy when he was in office was to tweet something out of the blue to cause a controversy which would cause people to dive into the subject matter and people would find out for themselves that he had a valid point.

Then the postmoderns convinced enough people that was just "mean tweets" and "were'nt you tired of that?".

But it was mainly Trump's strategic way of getting around the press. He made his tweets so provocative that the press could not help themselves but spend time on it, which drew attention to it, which would eventually demonstrate Trump's more reasonable statements as valid.

Which is basically like driving your car by looking in the rear view mirror.

I had two as a kid. Yes, we kept them indoors on Halloween and otherwise kept a close eye on them (they were basically house cats anyway).

There were always rumors that there were voodoo and santeria lunatics who used black cats for sacrificial rituals. I'm sure there is truth to that. But I never saw any hard evidence that anyone's cat was actually killed for this.

And this was in an affluent white suburban neighborhood on Staten Island in the 1980s and 90s.

Possibly too late to do anything material about this election (voting in person as someone else is more than likely an immaterial part of election cheating today, and the state probably has more than enough fake registrations in place for any sort of institutional chicanery the state level Democrats decide to perform), but it could have further implications down the line. 321 A word of caution whenever people say "Trump always overperforms his polling."

It's true that he did in 2016 and 2020 but he was a clear underdog in both races.

Here, I think he has to be considered the front-runner, even with the media narratives going on. All the deciding factors of the race favor him, as does his challenger status vs the poor incumbency.

Also, after ten years, and with things as bad as they are, it might just be that people are no longer afraid to say they support him. That doesn't mean his polling isn't still being suppressed by bad modeling, but people like Rassmussen might just be right on the money, since they don't overweight democrats in their modeling. If they say he's up 0-3 points, I think that's bang on.

And if he is, that's a national poll, which spells disaster for the Democrats. If next month, Rass says Harris is up 2-3 points, we're looking at a 50/50 finish. If she's up 4-6 points, it's probably a loss.

True. I do have an inkling of a memory of that factoid regarding 2016. It's what gave me some hope in 2020, assuming that Democrats would be cheating at the same levels as 2016 (oh, how foolish I was).

Still, it effectively ends one branch of registration fraud. Just not soon enough to probably have any effect this year.

That doesn't mean his polling isn't still being suppressed by bad modeling, but people like Rasmussen might just be right on the money, since they don't overweight democrats in their modeling. Actually with (I)'s as 50% of the electorate now - Rasmussen does overweight BOTH major parties. I even think his 35% (D) to 32% (R) weighting is off as I think both are now even at about 25% each.
