The Classical Saturday Morning Coffee Break & Prayer Revival

suburban-men-heres-what-guys-are-pinning-on-pinterest-20221210-122.jpg

*****

There are very few commercial establishments where I will buy a cup of coffee. A thermos is a very valuable item. ‘What are you, an idiot?’ Kevin O’Leary rips workers who waste money buying daily cups of coffee

*****

Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Before we enter the Prayer Revival there are a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Madison)

1. This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.
2. Be kind, be nice. And no jumping on the dining room table.
3. Running with sharp objects is frownned upon unless your deductible has been met.
4. Have a great weekend.

*****

Thank you Annie for preparing the following:

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

8/6 - LMD Outer Banker requested prayers for a son who is undergoing an experimental treatment for chronic Lyme disease, which he has been battling for 25 years. He will be in a clinic abroad for about a month.
8/31 Update – The son is on his way home. After one month of treatment, the tests appear to show he is free of Lyme and its coinfections. For the first time in 15 years, he no longer has to take antibiotics. Now the challenge is for his immune system to repair itself to be able to ward off future problems. The clinic indicates that will take about 6 months of healthy eating and supplements. Thank you for your prayers; LMD Outer Banker and family are crying in joy.
9/7 Update – Someone Else asked for more information about the clinic and location where this treatment was possible, if LMD Outer Banker would be willing to post a comment with that information, or let Annie’s Stew know so she can forward the information. Someone Else has a relative who has suffered for years and was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Someone Else’s relative also needs prayers for healing.

8/17 – Oddbob asked for prayers for the family of M, his daughter’s friend, who passed away last week.

8/17 – Dave in Fla asked for prayers. He is looking for guidance related to his job. He is about 3 years from retirement, and returned to work from a vacation to find that he was removed from his position without explanation, and after demonstrated success, due to office politics. He still has a job, and can keep working in FL, but he is also considering an offer from the company’s San Diego location. It’d be a burden to be bi-coastal for 3 years until retirement, but he knows and trusts the people at that location.

8/17 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her son, who is still looking for a job in his major, which was horticulture. He has been apparently offered a part time dealing with writing things for the internet, but that hasn’t started yet. Also, prayers for all the Morons and ‘ettes looking for jobs, including Bulgar.

8/17 – Polliwog the ‘Ette posted that Sister, C, found out that she has ovarian cancer and is scheduled for surgery at the end of August. Thankfully, it seems contained to just that area, but life will be complicated for the entire extended family for a bit.

8/19 – screaming in digital requested prayers for J, who fell of her porch and hit her head on concrete. J is a recent widow, and has been a friend for nearly 40 years.

8/23 – Grumpy and Recalcitrant requested continued prayers for J.J. Sefton. J.J. is feeling “not too bad, all things considered”. His post-radiation/chemo MRI is scheduled for the first week of Sept, and this is when he will find out where things are at, concerning his cancer. Please keep praying for complete remission, recovery, and a return to good health.
9/7 Update – J.J. sends his thanks for all the prayers and kind words. He says he is convinced that it has helped him get this far.

8/24 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for a friend, P, whose daughter was getting married in the RCC church on 8/24. P is disaffected from the RCC, believes in God, but not in Jesus. P’s wife is involved in the RCC church, so this is a sticking point with her. Also, prayers are requested for blessings for the daughter and son-in-law, and that everyone gets back and forth safely, and that the people at the wedding feel the presence of God and have a lovely time.

8/24 – tbodie Lurker asked for prayers for a 2nd ablation surgery, scheduled for 9/30. Hoping this one sticks.

8/31 – Tonypete requested prayers for his wife’s friend Barb. She is suffering from some type of mental disturbance and is a mess.

8/31 – Huerfano asked for prayers for a nephew, FHC, who sustained a lower back injury in a car accident a couple of months ago. He is running out of treatment options, short of surgery, which no one wants.

8/31 – Jewells45 sent an update. She started on Cyremza 2 weeks ago, and the only side effects are really bad headaches and fatigue. She is praying this works.
9/7 Update – Jewells and her husband had a tough weekend. Jewells had a lesion on her leg that hurt so bad she couldn’t walk, and her husband had to drive himself to the ER. He was unable to urinate, and in terrible pain. The problem was related to his prostate.

8/31 Zibby requested prayers for her brother-in-law, who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 2 months to live. The family is in shock and Zibby’s husband is devastated. The BIL is the oldest sibling and beloved by everyone. Thank you for your prayers.

8/31 – AnnaS1’s husband died in July, and her heart is shattered. She needs some prayers. If anyone else has lost a spouse, how did you get through it?

8/31 – Morgan, loyal lurker, just got a new job and is very hopeful. He is requesting prayers that this will work out, that he can prove to be a valuable employee, and that God will bless the firm and its clients.

9/2 – Anderson Cooper’s giant anus has a praise update for the prayer list. His stage 4 esophageal cancer (lymph nodes and lungs secondary) is gone after 6 months of integrated therapy. The new scan is clean. Praise God. Thank you Horde.

9/3 – Ben Had posted that JT is sounding really good and sends his thanks for the prayers and concern. He will be in the rehab facility for a while longer.

9/7 – Tonypete requested prayers for his lovely better half. She had an injury that resulted in 4-5 staples in the back of her head. No permanent damage or serious injury, so they are thankful for that.

9/7 – Sal asked for continued prayers for Pooky’s girl, who is waiting for Lil’ Pooky to be induced (or not), and prayers for her friend J, 80, who could use prayers for healing. J. tripped and face-planted on her patio. She is home, but facing a longish recovery.

9/7 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for healing for C, a member of her congregation, who is undergoing cancer treatment (chemo right now). She has a positive attitude, but the chemo exhausts her.

9/11 – Jmel asked for prayers for her sister, who was hospitalized, and sent thanks later in the day to those who prayed. Her sister’s blood work is looking good.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.

22 Morning my entertaining, fellow travelers of the grey mists of this wonderful place. Thanks, as always, Mishum. Hopefully I never take for granted the efforts you COBs make to perpetuate our tribe. I've been making a conscious effort to pray for all of us morons on a daily basis. Not always easy in my AD/HD highway to...look squirrel world. Sponge talking about his wife's chemo day prompted that thought process. Lord hear our prayers!

It was the first boarding school actually. First experience of NOT home food. Puddings were disgusting for me: macaroni pudding, blancmange, rice pudding, bread pudding -- these were often burnt too. All came with at least a teaspoonfull of cinnamon powder on top, hence the terrible connotation. Macaroni, to an Italian, is served with a red meat sauce and pecorino or parmesan. Not with sugar! Not with cinnamon. Ever!

Been watching a Great Course video series - Cooking through the Ages. You were having Renaissance Italian food - they put pork, cheese (like parm, but it wasn't exactly parm b/c it wasn't popular yet), tons of sugar, and tons of cinnamon on pasta, and just about everything. It was gross.

My boys and I sat there thinking that Renaissance rich folks had a bigger sweet tooth than we do...

PS - Getting ready for treatment in the next few weeks. Looking like a 2 year protocol. Appointment again on Tuesday to finally confirm the protocol. I don't want to be on the prayer list, but I wouldn't mind prayers for this week for anyone who has a few to spare...

It has become obvious that Tienanmen Tim was recruited by the ChiComs and is an Insider Threat. All the red flags are there: numerous foreign trips and contacts, gifts, glowing praise of an adversary nation, etc.

How that fvkcer ever made E-8 (temporary E-9) is beyond me. I'd have never passed a Security Investigation with that sort of background.

Things are moving along at Schloss Hadrian. The front fence, the side fence and almost all the ceiling repairs and painting in the Command Center have been done. The start of the roof replacement is set for this week. We've been upgraded to fiber optic internet, replacing the unreliable point-to-point service we've had.

Still to be done are calling someone in to install ethernet connections and a point-to-point down to the kennel, switching to streaming TV from satellite and taking the RV in to have the awning replaced that was damaged by the hurricane.

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean. God has orchestrated some absolute terrors on mankind, the Great Deluge, Sodom & Gomorrah, the Exodus, the siege on Jerusalem prior to the Babylonian sojourn.

Since God is control, every war and conflict has also been ordained. Rome's Nero and the persecution of Christians, the rise of the Islamic Empires, the holocaust, Mao's Cultural Revolution and the Iron Curtain.

It is my belief that Babel is being reversed and the demons will form collectives in the former West the prelude to a spiritual Armageddon.

144 My septic/grey water project seems, at the moment to have no end. I am at the point where I am tweaking the level on the pipes in the drain field. They are allowed 1/2 inch of variance for each 50 ft line. I thought I would have that nailed by yesterday and get to the point where I could schedule an inspection.
Thursday morning as I was coming down the front porch steps, I was mobbed by six happy puppies. Trying not to step on them I missed a step and went down. Something went pop in my hip and at the same time I felt a stabbing pain in my groin. The last two days have involved sitting in the recliner, alternating between ice and heat and Ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
On a positive note I got an extension on my short plat split, which is the reason for the new septic. Now I am up against the coming change in the weather.

Dosage is the same as for animals, you go by weight. If I remember right, the full tube is for a 1250-lb horse. The plunger may be marked off in pounds so that you can dice it up for sheep.

Rhode Island may be different but my experience of going out various inlets in New Jersey, with sandy bottoms that shift from week to week is - you see something like what that boat was going through - you go left or right, not directly through it. You could end up on the bottom just as a wave breaks over the bow. But some people will do anything for 'likes' or attention.

I have a couple of Wurmbrand's books. He suffered for Christ.

Every chance I get, I always want to give a strong recommendation to Paul Kengor's The Devil and Karl Marx. That book and Father Robert Spitzer's discussion of the Deadly Sins in his book, Christ versus Satan in Our Daily Lives really helped me realize that Marxism is a Satanically-inspired Christian heresy.

You have obviously not read the book by Paul Kengor. I haven't read Wurmbrand's books on Marx, but his "jewishness" was immaterial in Kengor's book. I believe his parents converted to Christianity when he was a child; again, whether his parents were earnest in their conversion is immaterial to the issue of Karl Marx. Calling him a "satanist" is a hyperbole , and him being a Jew, makes me think that whoever is promoting that hyperbole is not coming from a good place.

Oh, bullshit. I have never heard Karlie was a Jew and even if so, so fcking what. Do you buy the presstitute lies about how criticizing George Soros means you're an anti-semite? Did you notice in this very thread, the expansion on *how* Karlie's crap is in fact a likely form of heresy?

308 A 'divorce' would be fought tooth and nail by our political class. To the very bitter end.

Who'd win? Who knows.
Posted by: Martini Farmer

The financial world will fight it with even more vigor. A " divorce " would decimate the US$ as the reserve currency. It would also hamstring the derivative market that requires collateral with good liquidity, think short term Tbills. The stock market is the financial world we see on the surface. The derivative market is the financial world that operates under the surface which we don't get to play in.

This is a big one. This is an issue that disgusts virtually every American. It is the most memorable issue that came out of the debate. The cats and dogs song parody has gone viral because Americans across the spectrum love their pets and hate being lied to.

Vance is reposting the video. Don Jr. is reposting the video. This is an issue that won't go away unless we allow it to and it will influence people.

Lots of people vote on issues that might seem trivial like Harris being a blackish woman. But if it helps swing opinion and votes it's not trivial.

362 IIRC in the city of Pacific Grove, CA anyone caught 'harassing' a Canadian Goose there would be faced with a hefty fine and potential jail time. Depending on the level of harm perceived to have happened to the goose.

And there are a lot of geese in that town. Especially on and around the golf course. And they are aggressive.

I've seen golfers there escorted off the course by the cops after hitting a goose with an errant golf ball.

So, there's precedent for fines and/or jail for having one for lunch.

369 8/31 – AnnaS1’s husband died in July, and her heart is shattered. She needs some prayers. If anyone else has lost a spouse, how did you get through it?

Hi AnnaS1--no idea if you will see this. I lost my wife in April of 2015 to cancer at the age of 37. We had 2 young boys, who are now HS graduate and 8th grade. I am so, so sorry for your loss. The only thing you can do is go one day at a time.

But like you, my heart was absolutely shattered, and it still is, over 9 years later. The questions you have, I still have myself, and in certain respects, I don't think I will ever get better. I have tried at times to have relationships, but none have worked out, and in the end, I don't think I ever will again--but I am not everybody by any means. I hope you are able to find what you need.

I'm sorry again. I wish I had better advice for you. I have enjoyed watching our children grow up and they are good kids and I wouldn't trade for anything, but the pain never really goes away, at least not for me. Having said that, I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere at all.

Final thought--never feel guilty about how you feel/react. It's all normal, even if you think it isn't.
