I don't think that the debate will have much effect on the race since too many things are in such a perilous state due to the manner in which the Biden/Harris administration and their allies in the Uniparty have screwed things up but I could be wrong.
I'll wait until next Monday before making my mind up on this since I want to here what Baris and Barnes have to say on this matter and to see what the rest of our regular crew (JackStraw and DaveInFlorida, in particular, but what the rest of you have to say has a great deal of weight with me as well) have to say as well.

I agree with this assessment. Kamala didn't collapse; if you're a Democrat you'll go to bed thinking that the downballot candidates are not going to get wiped out, like they would have with Biden. They will stay and fight for her. Re: Trump - no Trump voter will be so disheartened that they will stay home in Nov. They'll see (as I did) that at times Trump was fighting 3 against 1. The 'moderators' were shameful, and I think that regular LIVs may see that as well. CNN ran that risk and largely avoided it; ABC went all-in for Kamala and it will cost them.

THIS. CNN was put on notice at the Biden debate; they knew all eyes were on them and they couldn't blow it. They also knew going in there was going to be another debate. ABC went in knowing that Kamala wouldn't be debating again, so they could let it all hang out and stall for the next 50+ days. No cost to them to openly put their thumb on the scale. Trump's surrogates like RFKJ will drive that point home. Not a knockout blow for Trump, but he's not losing any support. It's OK.

And he drew some things out of Harris that might not be as big a help as she thinks. Her position on Israel, her break from Biden, her support for the most lethal military force in the world back the Blue don't play well with her various factions

I don't see that she needed an earpiece to get - or guess - the questions in advance. ABC was going to tee her up for the questions that she would be most comfortable with. If you watched any of her stump speeches you'd know where her stronger responses would be. Not rocket science. They would also know where they wanted to amplify Trump's 'weaknesses'. He wasn't about to listen to anyone else try to answer questions he's already comfortable answering in his own way.
The goal for the debate on Kamala's end was to show that she wasn't a ditz. She'll take lying over being perceived of as a ditz. Mission accomplished.

You don't seem to understand that it is much more difficult to sound like a good public speaker by trying to use an earpiece while you are talking. It is much, much easier to rehearse answers written by an intelligent person and get coaching from hollywood actors on how to deliver them. Even the things she responded to from Trump were predictable. Remember, he is out speaking every single day, and his lines don't change. They were prepared for his responses and attacks just like they were prepared for the questions. Both were obvious and predictable.

First, if Trump didn't agree to the first debate, Biden would still be in the race - and hidden by the media just like in 2020. The bottom didn't fall out in his campaign until he and the media were caught out by having the world see him as he is, not as they wanted us to see him as.
Second, you do debates. You campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire and do all the stupid things our candidates do get elected POTUS because that's the best way to pick someone. COVID was a once in a century event, which is how Biden got away with it in 2020.

That's not the problem though. This election won't be won or lost based on wonkish policy mastery or even slick political rhetoric. The ability to just drive home big themes (broken border, bad jobs news and government dishonesty about it, runaway inflation, that kind of thing), even if done crudely, is what is needed. If the election is winnable, that's how it can be done. I don't hear anyone claiming Trump managed to do that tonight. If not, that's a shame.

I've drawn up a design that's basically 5'x3' plus room for bends and such, with (4) 50W full-spectrum lights.
My plan is to figure it out on leafy greens like spinach, bok choi, green onions, etc. for the first run or two, and once the kinks are worked out, adapt it for hydroponic orchids. I'll probably flip over to a 400W MH/HPS switchable ballast at that point.
My goal is to have 24/7/365 flowers around my house in the next couple of years.

Why MH/HPS instead of LEDs? I used to start vegetables inside under florescents, a friend of mine used LEDs this year and they worked great. Less power than florescent, and probably less than MH/HPS. I'm going to switch over for next year.

100% agree. Tonight was par for the course for Trump's debates. The last one was unusual in that the mods were fair and didn't join in on the debate. Just one data point, but Ethan Van Sciver, a Trump fan but who isn't a policical junkie, says Trump did great. All that mattered from tonight's debate is if the candidates respective supporters thought thier guy or gal did well. (There are absolutely zero persuadable voters left.). Harris helped herself by getting through it with a mid performance, but there was no way Trump could effect how she did. It was all up to her to fail or pass.

The MH/HPS idea is for the flowers. MH for vegetative growth, then switch out to HPS for flowering. Also switching out fertilizers concurrently.

I don't think debates matter as much as some people here do. Formal models based on economic conditions can explain ~95% of the variation in the popular vote in an election. Maybe debates have some marginal effect apart from that.

I didn't hear that part, but that is a winning position for Trump. Something like 80-20 are against late term abortions. Dems want them (and have them in some states, I think) till the last minute before birth.

I think Abortion is one of the few real issues the Dems have to drive turnout, particularly where there are Abortion related ballot issues, like Arizona and Penn, if memory serves.
I still think the whole thing will hinge on the Black vote. If Trump hits 30% with black men, or 25% and 15% of black women, I don't think the Dems can overcome it. Black men are 15% of the Dem votes, so 20% of that is about 3% of the total votes for Dems. They'd never make that up that difference even with an AWFLanche.

I have tons of Craftsmen hand tools. That was the only reason I went to Sears for a decade there. I’d say 98% Made In USA. Good stuff. It’s held up well. They even fixed my 1/4” ratchet for free and then mailed it back to me.
Saw Craftsmen stuff for sale a few years ago in local hardware store. Made in China. I’ll buy Made in China.. hell, Harbor Freight isn’t that bad.. but I expect Made-in-China prices, not Craftsmen prices. Another great brand ruined by clueless American consumers and Wall Street.

In this case, I'm not so sure. What are the risks of Ozempic versus certain levels of obesity?
Personally, I successfully lost my excess "husky" weight in my last year of high school through a month of will power and healthy lowcal dieting and sports (I was sports active anyway). But that was 50 years ago when obesity was nowhere near off the charts in the US as it is today.
I'm no pharma fan but I'm not fan of the food industries poisons either.
BTW, I gained a lot more weight over my married years. As of June 2023, been dieting and exercising and lost over 20 lbs. so far. I'd like to lose at least another 20 but I'm stuck on a plateau, which isn't helped by my occasional succumbing to my sweet tooth.
But neither I nor Mrs. BD are on any meds. We pop about 18 nutritional supplement daily. I try to make it my business to do 45-60 minutes of exercise 4-6 days a week. I feel good and my checkups confirm the benefits.

I wonder if the authors of that have any knowledge of the history of this. The Gemini and Apollo crews did the full cabin depressurization for EVAs many times.
There was the "trans-earth EVAs" the last three Apollo missions had to do. They had a bunch of cameras and other stuff in a bay on the service module. It took pictures and other measurements during the 3 day lunar orbit, and one of the astronauts, the CM pilot, had to go out and manually retrieve them and bring them back inside the CM.
And the Polaris crew went through a fill vacuum-chamber test of all the procedures on the ground to test it and refine it.

One of the interesting things is the Dragon uses a full 1 atm, normal air mixture during flight.
Apollo and the previous used pure oxygen at around 5 psi. Keeping it "over pressurized" at sea level with pure oxygen finally bit them in the butt with the Apollo 1 fire. It worked without a hitch for Mercury and Gemini.
Although, I remember reading that if the Gemini astronauts ever had to use the launch escape ejection seats (which were nuts), the rocket motors would've probably ignited the space suits, saturated with O2. The astronauts would've been human torches.

Every summer is a struggle, but it's mostly due to my wimpy intolerance to the heat. Gets worse as I age.
It's not humid here (thankfully!) in the middle of Idaho, just hot and very dry in summer. Like a convection oven. Add wildfire smoke, and it's hell outdoors. Ugh.
