Apalachee High School Shooter Was a "Known Wolf" on the FBI's Radar for a Year
Two teachers and two students are dead after a 14-year-old psychopath shot up a Georgia school.
One tiny bit of good news: The "School resource officer," that is, an armed cop posted at the school, was able to quickly apprehend the psychopathic murderer before he could kill more people. The left will of course downplay this fact as it continues agitating against armed good guys at schools. They oppose this common-sense measure precisely because it works -- if there's a solution that works that isn't universal gun confiscation, they automatically oppose it, so that there is no policy to compete with universal gun confiscation.
A shooting at Apalachee High School in northern Georgia on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of two teachers and two students. The shooter, a 14-year-old student, was taken into custody. Key Details: The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) revealed during a press conference that two teachers and two students were killed. Nine others were injured and airlifted to local hospitals. The shooter, identified as 14-year-old Colt Gray, surrendered to officers without resistance after being confronted by a school resource officer. The motive remains unclear, and investigators are working to establish a connection between the suspect and the victims. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a statement, saying, "Our hearts are broken over this tragic event. We are praying for the victims, their families, and the entire Barrow County community."

How is this possible? Either Gray was not the one who made the online threats and his interview by the FBI is what put the idea of shooting into his head, he was very computer savvy, enough to cover his identity, or the FBI did not even make enough effort to track down the actual computer used to make the threats to get probable cause.
The first and third possibilities are entirely unacceptable, they mean that FBI and probably GBI as well bear a good bit of responsibility for this shooting.

Which is annoying because I'm also trying to eat an egg-heavy diet and chopping up green peppers and onions into scrambled eggs adds a lot.

Heard talk radio's Michael Barry (out of Houston) yesterday. He doesn't spend a lot of time on school shootings because he believes it only encourages more of them.
He also believes that most of these mentally ill and/or just plain evil shooters do it because of the MDM-MSM spectacle created (likely starting with Columbine) around the shootings -- but that the shootings are merely a means to generate the spectacle and not the primary motivation; the primary motivation and end is to draw attention to their "ideas" and rantings, and why they almost always have "manifestos."

It started for me after my first child when i suddenly started getting hellacious heartburn any time I ate tomatoes.
Moved on to not liking jalapenos any more, and now "spicy" for me is the barest dust of cayenne in a spice blend when baking chicken, and some Frank's mixed into ranch for occasional dipping.

In today's litigious society, it does not work that way. Even police are bound by if the person no longer represents an immediate threat, then you must stop shooting. People get into trouble and even prison for not heeding that.
Plus, something that a lot of people never think of is what happens if you must shoot someone you know. The school resource officer probably knew the kid and that could have made it harder to pull the trigger on him even if he was a threat.
Similar self defense issues exist if the target is a female, young, or a family member (often drugged up or insane) that presents a lethal threat to you or someone you love.
Self defense requires thinking about those things in advance--now more than ever.

The same government shut down schools for months and teachers happily told parents that there was no difference in online courses and on-site teaching.
If someone does something to promote the idea that they're a violent threat, they should be banned from any school property. They're welcome to continue with the outstanding online education, but they're no longer allowed to attend physical courses.

When I was in the Army I was always skirting the weight limit, not because I was a fat tubby bastard, but because I have a big frame. I easily passed PT tests. Every time.
According to the BMI I should weigh 169. My former doc, who retired, alas, told me that it would be ridiculous to achieve that weight. He said 210 would be my ideal weight. Fortunately I am not too far from that.
My current doctor is more of a BMI fan, so I am colossally obese according to him. And yet, I am in good health. Whatever.

that's a relief. Has anyone had this wonderful aspect of aging closer to age 29 -- becoming intolerant to some of your favorite foods? Now I can't eat any kind of peppers, sweet or spicy, because I get, well, I won't be graphic. You get it.
Which is annoying because I'm also trying to eat an egg-heavy diet and chopping up green peppers and onions into scrambled eggs adds a lot.
I get "issues" a fair amount now. So I was worried about this test. But all clear, for now.

They all weighed 2.5# per inch of height. Which would probably have them all overweight on the BMI index. That number has always been my goal. I know when I've reached it because my wife will say, "Stop, don't lose another ounce of weight."

One of the many issues with using BMI: it doesn't actually measure the body fat. Better way is body density, but that requires measuring weight AND volume (by volume displacement, most likely). Another way is Bioelectrical impedance analysis. How about just go with the old ways and measure physical fitness?

Yes, I know a bit about it. Basically the DOJ threatened to sue schools (and awarded compliant ones grants) to stop misbehaving kids from being in the alleged pipeline to prison. Trayyvon was one of that sort as well.
So the idea is that we let students do criminal behavior in the schools but do not let the juvenile justice system charge them for their assaults, felony thefts, drug selling, etc. Instead, the schools promised to act as social workers for these 'yutes' to keep them out of prison and 'divert' them from the juvenile justice system.
That metastasized into a cancer in public schools regarding law and order. Then you also have the untouchable ones that are privileged by being part of the Democrat pro criminal elements in far too many local and state governments.
It is really bad out there in many schools today.

It was found that having a little extra is good, in that it helps you when you're sick (using up that stored fat). I tend to lose weight when I'm sick, so works out, although I could stand to drop about 5 lbs right now.

Most people have no idea how common these threats are. My wife's school has at least a couple a year. I'm not counting idle threats either. These kids are often disturbed AND have access to guns. Over tens of thousands of schools, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are over 100,000 of these credible threats a year.
The core problem, in my opinion, is the idea that kids have a "right to education." You'll hear this from school Administrators and District Administrators all the time. Kids with all sorts of oppositional defiant disorders and other violent pathologies are still integrated in school.
My wife was hit three times in the chest yesterday by one of these little fucks. He's a transfer from another school and according to that other school, he has a perfect record. A previous school from two years ago tells a different story. He has many MANY incidents of striking teachers and administrators.

A few years ago a kid threatened to kill my son. I met with administrators and they wouldn’t even tell me if they disciplined him and what it was. Citing privacy or some other bullshit.
I told them, when I was growing up if you said you wanted to kill someone that turns into an automatic fight. And be careful because you have no idea what that persons family is like so shit can escalate really quickly.

regardless of how bad or good you are. Negative rights can survive that test because it is government that is restrained from harming the individual without due process of law. Doesn't work when a government is required to provide a free, fair, and adequate public education. That requires taxpayers, regulatory apparatus to ensure the free, fair, and adequate, and so on to provide that 'right'. Doesn't work.
