We've seen it all around the world," Clooney told reporters, according to The Washington Post. "And for someone to say, 'I think there's a better way forward.' All the credit goes to him ... And all the rest of it will be long gone and forgotten."

"None of the machinations that got us there will be remembered, and they shouldn't be," he instructed the press, giving them their orders that they should never probe the threat to invoke the 25th Amendment against Biden.

Joe Biden did not step aside voluntarily.

My response has always been that only congress can "legally" invoke taxes on the national level, and also stated I saw nothing on his policy page about that, but we're talking about a businessman here who wants to get elected. Even if he could institute such taxes by executive fiat, it would be in place of something else (such as negating state taxes and making it universal across the country...which would violate state's rights). Need to be careful with using cross tabs like the media does and making assumptions about their validity. Basically, to do it right, you need something like 1000-1200 respondents that were carefully selected for demographics (race, ethnicity, etc.) of women only.

What you get instead is a shitty poll of about 600-800 registered voters with somewhere around 40-60 percent of that sample as women.

That gives you an actual result of a sample size about half that may not be properly weighted. So roughly plus or minus 5-8 percent if the sample itself is properly distributed with population attributes. Weighting can make it much worse. Bear those caveats in mind when viewing polling.

I'm surprised the director didn't catch that and make him do it over.

Tank is pretty empty on the character assassination front against Trump. Given Walz's problems, I don't think the Dems will do very well trying to trash Vance. If they had something, they would have already deployed it.

OTOH,Kamala and Walz are largely undefined yet as candidates and that is where the downside lies in mudslinging. Kamala never had a close race to be vetted well and Walz 's rollout disclosed several negatives stories that have more or less dominated any discussion of him as a candidate so far. That has let Kamala slide so far on being the focus of negative stories.

There's a video out there that delved into the idea of subtitles in The Hunt for Red October. The guy found a shooting script of the film and compared it to a script from before production started.

Essentially, John McTiernan, not the writer, came up with the idea of zooming into the Russian Political Officer's mouth on the word Armageddon as it switched languages. He did it on set.

McTiernan does not have a writing credit on that film. I don't think he has any writing credits (he may...memory is hazy).

Directors are constantly rewriting as they shoot, and most of the time the writers haven't been involved since they sold the script.
