Sounds a little racist to me. Sounds like that "vote suppression" thing to me.

A Michigan judge has ruled that Cornel West, a presidential candidate, must remain on the state's voting ballot after Democrats attempted to remove him over technicalities.

Team Trump's analysis is that RFKJr's vote splits +25% in favor of Trump in the battlegrounds. If RFKJr.'s share of the vote is, say, 5%, Trump will take 50% of that, Harris 25%, and undecided/stay at home the rest.

Rich Barris says will work out to an average bump of +2% (or maybe 3%) in the battlegrounds. Not huge but helpful.

Agreed. And since I expect a lot of RFK supporters to not vote, it may look something like:

50-60% Trump
15-20% Harris
20-35% Other or stay home.

Regardless, if RFK was drawing 7% in a battleground, you're looking at Trump increasing his margin 2-3%.

I gotta disagree on this, Ace. A 2-3% "free" bump for Trump in battleground states is fucking YUGE. It's potentially game-changing in beating the cheat. If Trump got an extra 2-3% in battleground states in 2020, he'd be the president right now.

This doesn't mean I think Trump will actually get 2-3% from RFK voters. I think more likely it will be around 1% -- which is still a real help.

If they're looking to ice Kamala and the rest of the legacy players in the faction in favor of Trump containment and blame and a couple of years to knife each other and groom a candidate, they'll let nature take its course and Trump will win.

The Party is capable of controlling the outcome. It is neither easy nor cheap, but they can do it. The outcome we get is the outcome the Party desired, for whatever reason. There are some decent reasons for them to just let Trump win.

The reason I reject your analysis is that I think the Dems know if Trump gets his second term, he's going to destroy the old, corrupt way of doing things, and clean up our elections. I don't think so. If it's not sorted by the time they tally the electors in DC, it's by default a Dem win unless the balloon goes up. Possession is 9/10ths of the law, and the Dems possess DC.

You will *never* see litigation stretch beyond that with an incumbent Dem administration, resulting in the Dems leaving office. Ever.

I doubt it. Control and chaos are dangerous bedfellows because it's too easy to lose control over chaos. It's possible, but I doubt it.

But letting Trump win *will* purge the Biden/Harris dominance in the Kalorama faction, leave Trump in place to hold the bag that Biden has been filling (and there is a bag - the next few years aren't going to be great) and otherwise contain Trump as they know how to do. It will give them time to knife each other internally, deal with the factional war and groom the next candidate for a couple of years and then they can install him or her in '28 to front a now-unified - by whatever means - Party.

I wouldn't rule it out.

This is our fundamental disagreement. Trump didn't do it last time and he couldn't have even if he wanted to. The administrative bureaus and the GOPe hardliners in the Congress prevented it easily, and then the IC kept him hemmed up on other fronts. Even if he were inclined to do it this time around - and I don't know, but I doubt it because Trump is a reformer and not a revolutionary, and always has been - his means are still at the mercy of the same players as last time.

Personally I think it'll just be 2016: 2.0 where he still picks poor/compromised advisors who backstab him while the DC establishment ignores him half the time - and that's the best case. PDT did nothing significant that I'm aware of in regards to violence against his supporters, got conned massively with the C19 response, and ultimately was a failure on border control in the time frame he had to work with.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT him to win. I do appreciate the 4 years we got. He's clearly doing this because he feels someone has to step up and do it. I'm just not expecting much beyond 4 more muddled years to arrange the order of battle before we get right back to 1917 but with better PR.

TJM, triangulation is the key. Anyone doing research in social sciences is aware that bad data is rife so you have to approach any social research question via using multiple means to ascertain the observable truth.

A mere endorsement by Bobbie Kennedy Jr is worth a bit but if Bobby goes on the road with the message and campaigns as promised for Trump, then the repetition of the message is more likely to resonate among those that are dissatisfied with the current regime but poisoned by Orange Man bad media smears carried out for over eight years now.

The other prop that Dems have used is arguing that voting for them saves Democracy. Any collective action by Jill Stein, Cornel West, and Bobbie Kennedy is liable to put a stake in that prop because the slogan Protect Our Democracy becomes Protect Our Democrats which is not a compelling interest to most voters.

Where Kamala goes is the next indicator. If she goes to states where Bobby's polling numbers were strongest---it is hurting her. It is also likely to dampen winning the popular vote chances.

Libertarians would be better to go to an endorsing party strategy where they run their own candidates rarely and strategically. As of now, the formal party is no longer ideologically coherent with two main factions vying for control. One is essentially Democrat emphasizing social matters and the other leans GOPe in free market economics.

That is too bad because the most use for a minor party is to be a critique of the major ones. Under Durverget's law, as long as the US uses first past the post elections, minor parties are doomed to electoral irrelevance but their proposed policies can affect the national debate.

In 2016, Trump won. Hillary got 3 million more votes, 4 million of which came out of California.

So even though Trump got the majority of the popular vote in 49 states, one big state should have been able to elect Hillary.

In 2020, Trump lost (allegedly). Biden got 7 million more votes, 5 million of which came out of California, and 2 million out of New York.

Biden won, but had he lost in the Electoral College, two big states should have been able to offset that, and thrown the election to Biden.

The call to abolish the Electoral College is a call to let California decide all subsequent Presidential elections.

I agree that it's likely hybrid. You have baseline, routine fraud - ballots for phony registrations, deliberate poor maintenance of rolls, ballot mules and harvesting, etc. - but then there's still a shot-caller somewhere if needed. In 2020, that telephone call to strongholds in the six states to stop the count and get to manufacturing and double-counting came from *someone* and that means someone was in the position to make that call. That someone probably had at least a general summary of capability within the strongholds and what their standard processes and procedures were.

So yeah, they cheat as a matter of course and it's mostly delegated and autonomous and routine. But if someone needs to pick up the phone and call in a "code red," there is both someone to pick it up and call it, and others who will answer it.

It is more professional than that. Democrats have live feeds via their NGOs and real time voter history access to SoS databases integrated into their steals. The top of the chain in a state decides how many fake ballots to inject and where in part to avoid the obvious (over 100 percent registered voters other than a few scattered precincts) fraud, whose votes to steal or mobilize in the case of non existent or illegal voters, and how to get the mules to collect and fill out those ballots in such a way that they don't get caught with the obvious.

That is why the machine went into overdrive in 2020--a far greater than normal percentage of mail in ballots due to Covid fears and a commensurate lessening of any ballot controls in law such as signature verification etc. Trump's massive vote swamped the fraud structure and they went into emergency action that is apparent now (see GA/AZ for how it was done).

A problem though is that the GOP candidates most in need of boosting in primaries are populist candidates and populism by and large is not popular with the Mises due to differences in proposed economic policies.

The establishment GOPe will take the Libertarian endorsement but keep on being statists because essentially, they do not need the extra votes from the Libertarian endorsement in a primary.

Basically, ideologists in general overestimate the efficacy of arguing cause and effect of their favored policies. The best that they can aspire to is to influence the pragmatists in parties and consequently the mass of pragmatic voters.

Ideology works a bit better in a proportional representation state until your ideology is proven to be fake and false in practice. See Germany and the Greens for example.

Doesn't quite work like that. Generally speaking, any Kennedy vote was already dissatisfied with the status quo. So it is easy to expect a preponderance from that selection biased sample to move on to vote for the other opposition candidate disproportionately. It is also true that most people hate to waste their vote which is why third party candidate votes shrivel by the time of the general election (probably due to sunk costs). So the choice of Bobby K voters is to not vote, or move to the opposition candidate because they are already dissatisfied with the current regime. A smaller percentage will move to the regime.

Third party voters that are not ideologues who are more amenable to protest votes resemble undecided voters more than anything in voting practice. Undecided voters usually break in favor of the new guy rather than the ancien regime or don't vote.

That is why any incumbent running under 50 percent in a normal race is much more likely to lose, ceterus paribus.

The libertarian economic arguments were by and large absorbed by the GOP during the Reagan era through the GWB years but have receded steadily since then because of secondary effects (the economy (domestic and world) was never going to be as free market as classic economic liberals projected and mass migration has proved to be a disaster).

Personally, a libertarian utopia would be a nicer place to live with minimal government but due to a certain percentage of the population desiring power and money over others is impossible to achieve in practice.

I supremely doubt that Trump won MI by 8.5%. I do think he won, but not by anywhere near that amount. He won in 2016 by like a quarter-point. My best guestimate is that Trump won MI in 2020 by 2%. There are too many hardcore Dems and leftwing foreigners in MI for Trump to win big in MI even in a fair election.

natural fake, the arguments proposed by the Libertarians in the 70 and 80's were mainly economic and deregulatory. They pretty much persuaded both the GOP and the Dems that these policies were correct. But, as all things do, circumstances changed as did their party members. Younger Millennials by and large were interested in social issues having never been deprived much by stagflation etc. Those issues were gay marriage and incarceration for drugs by and large. They won bipartisan agreement on the first and somewhat of a policy victory on the second.

Pretty effective for essentially a minor party. Far more effective over the last 40-50 years than most other minor parties can boast. But the energy now of minor parties is largely with the Socialists and the Green parties.

When I was in college, I had a bunch of books stolen out of my truck, including Cornel West's book "Race Matters" which was assigned because the professor was a retard. It's written at about the 10th grade level.

About a week later, the thief broke into my truck AGAIN and returned the book... with lefty notes in the margins. I still have my copy, because I found the whole situation amusing.
