The Classical Saturday Morning Coffee Break & Prayer Revival

357369753_10162917908090884_2712158984600687574_n.jpg

Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Before we enter the Prayer Revival there are a few housekeeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in Mauston.)

1. This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate away.
2. There is no limit on the use of Troll-Be-GoneTM
3. If you must run with sharp objects run away like the wind from us.
4. Have a nice weekend.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
6/15 – Grumpy and Recalcitrant asked for continued prayers for J.J. Sefton of the Morning Report. He is about to begin chemo and radiation therapy.
8/6 Update – J.J.’s final chemo and radiation treatments were on 8/4 and 8/5. There’s a four week wait until the first post-treatment MRI. He’s hoping to regain energy and more of an appetite in that time. Please continue to pray for J.J.’s recovery and restoration to full health.

6/29 – bluebell passed along a request from grammie winger, who asked for prayers for her husband, Rev, who is having open heart surgery on 7/8 to take care of his aortic aneurysm. Recovery time is expected to be 6-8 weeks.
8/17 Update – Rev is improving day by day. A home health nurse comes 3 days a week, and he has PT twice a week.

7/13 – Chris C, a loyal lurker (and prayer) requests prayers for his bride, Melanie, who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She needs support as she is exhausted from caring for Chris and his 23 days in the hospital for a triple bypass that “went south”.
8/17 Update – Chris sent his thanks for all the prayers. Melanie’s surgery was successful, and the doctor got it all. Lymph sentinel was negative.

7/22 – Sponge’s First Lady is home and resting comfortably. The surgery went well and the doctor was pleased. They did remove some lymph nodes that looked suspect, but did not have to remove much mass around the cancer. They will have the results of the tests on the nodes next week. Thank you for the continued prayers as she has only just begun this whole thing.
8/8 Update – One of the lymph nodes had cancer cells in it. She’ll start chemo in a couple of weeks, but for now it will be once a week for 12 weeks, then different meds once every 2 weeks for 4 weeks, then radiation for 5 weeks. They send thanks to all for your support.
8/12 Update – Sponge’s First Lady starts chemo this week, earlier than expected. She’s also nervous that her boss won’t be happy that she can’t work Thursdays anymore, due to the chemo schedule.

8/3 – Black Orchid asked for prayers for her usual August blues, from taking the kids back to school/college. They love their schools and are excited to go back, but it can be sad.

8/3 – Our Country is Screwed asked for prayers for his 27 year old daughter. She is having breast cancer surgery in a week. The Mrs. and he will be heading out to be with her.

8/5 – bonhomme posted that her mother-in-law fell and shattered her femur. Her surgery went well, but it’s going to be a long recovery.

8/6 - LMD Outer Banker requested prayers for a son who is undergoing an experimental treatment for chronic Lyme disease, which he has been battling for 25 years. He will be in a clinic abroad for about a month.
8/10 Update – The son has had his first major treatment for Lyme disease, and his rash has already disappeared. It’s amazing.

8/10 – Farmer Bob provided an update. He sent his thanks for the prayers and encouragement. It’s been a year, and he is fit, fun, fashionable, fearless, and faithful man again, vs. the pit of despair and despondency.

8/10 – From about That Time requested prayers for a nephew, daughter, and the entire family in general. The nephew, a 45 year old, was camping with the family, and felt ill. He went to the porch to rest and died. The daughter could use prayers because she just lost her (early) second pregnancy. A boatload of prayers would be greatly appreciated.
8/17 Update – From about That Time sent thanks to all for the prayers.

8/10 – Tonypete asked for prayers for his HS buddy Fred, who passed away on 8/9 after suffering from ALS for many years.

8/10 – S requested prayers for his friend Jim, who lost his brother and needs strength to assist in this painful transition.

8/11 – RickZ asked for prayers for an internet friend, Pandora, who died of cancer, and for her beloved husband. Pandora was very worried about him, how hard it will be for him when she died.

8/17 – Pug Mahon posted that he was worried about his wife. She was on antibiotics for acute Lyme disease, and was scheduled for an MRI on Sunday morning. They are not sure what is going on.
8/21 Update – Pug’s wife didn’t do well with the first antibiotic, but she is responding better to the second one. Also, she is working half-days. It is pretty clearly Lyme disease.

8/17 – Oddbob asked for prayers for the family of M, his daughter’s friend, who passed away last week.

8/17 – Dave in Fla asked for prayers. He is looking for guidance related to his job. He is about 3 years from retirement, and returned to work from a vacation to find that he was removed from his position without explanation, and after demonstrated success, due to office politics. He still has a job, and can keep working in FL, but he is also considering an offer from the company’s San Diego location. It’d be a burden to be bi-coastal for 3 years until retirement, but he knows and trusts the people at that location.

8/17 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her son, who is still looking for a job in his major, which was horticulture. He has been apparently been offered a part time dealing with writing things for the internet, but that hasn’t started yet. Also, prayers for all the Morons and ‘ettes looking for jobs, including Bulgar.

8/17 – Polliwog the ‘Ette posted that Sister, C, found out that she has ovarian cancer and is scheduled for thrther surgery at the end of August. Thankfully, it seems contained to just that area, but life will be complicated for the entire extended family for a bit.

8/19 – screaming in digital requested prayers for J, who fell of her porch and hit her head on concrete. J is a recent widow, and has been a friend for nearly 40 years.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Nope. It's a much, much larger model designed for full immersion. It comes in several pieces that assemble to form the frame. Then you put in a waterproof liner. That's where things went horribly, horribly wrong.

We had it filled about halfway before one of us noticed it sprung a leak and water was seeping out onto the floor/carpets.

Spent about 2 hours cleaning up that mess...

30 Willowed on RFK:

Trump himself is wearing the skin suit of the old Republican Party, so its understandable that their establishment figures dislike him so intensely, people like the Bushes, McConnell etc. They're out and Trump's coalition is in.

Now, he's trying to broaden the tent, hoping to attract disaffected Democrats, minority voters and he's doing it by defining Kamala as an extreme Communist. Anyone slightly to the right of Mao has become a possible Trump voter.

Smart. And, from the RFK reaction, looking effective.

Trump agreed and they had good, substantive discussions. Kamala and her people arrogantly refused to meet or to even speak to RFK Jr. They let him know that they didn’t think he was worth their time.

What happened is that the secularization of the Democrats bled into their youth. Time was, religion informed politics. Now politics is a religion.

This has hit the Dems really hard, because without a moral compass, winning is all that matters, so there is no crime, no cheating, only winning.

At the same time, political values become moral ones, so debate shifts from being about which policies actually work to which ones are sacred and which ones are damned.

Not long ago, you could argue policy and someone could say: "I don't think that will work, but I respect that you want to solve the problem." Nowadays both the policy and the person are condemned as evil and targeted for destruction.

Yep. See my previous post. In a past life, I was a GOP henchman, working in the state Legislature. Obviously there were disageements, but I knew several Democrat reps who were polite and even kind. You could talk with them. Years later I ran into one of them and told her that all the GOP staff liked her because she treated us as humans. I told her that in floor debates she made it clear that she disagreed with us on policy, but didn't think we were bad people, just wrong. And if the facts proved otherwise, she could admit it.

She actually hugged me with tears in her eyes. She was just so happy that her "enemies" respected her.
You can't have that now.

I know several very liberal people who are deeply unhappy with the party, but are gritting their teeth to fight Orange Man Bad. RFK is basically offering them intellectual and moral cover to say: "I hate both of them, screw it."

That RFK is rabidly pro-choice also destroys the lie that Trump will push for national abortion ban. They've been pushing that hard to get the women to show up.

137 Nobody was more "anti big pharm" than the hippies. Anti-cancer treatments, the conspiracy theories on the left were agreed that cancer cures were being withheld from the public.

A general antipathy to the vaccine immunization schedule for children, what few they had, was routine. That wasn't just a a left wing thing. There are up to 28 different innoculations included in the 3 or 4 shot schedule and these are done before baby's first year or so? Yeah that's probably nuts. Spread 'em out, both in kind and temporally, but that costs more money.

My point is it was REALLY weird to see all the hippies do a 180 and start doing cartwheels on the lawn when they got "approved" to take an experimental brand new vaccine. They were willing to throw you and yours under the bus too. Still are.

155 Wait.

Make it an en-masse "pardon", with elements of Union re-instatement. Anyone involved with Unions knows how this works. Somebody has been gone for say 2 years, and then surprise!, they get their old job back, with back pay, plus any overtime they "would" have gotten, and the rest of it.

I figure back pay, plus accrued vacation time, AND a one-step grade promotion, the rest of it. And the CINC can do that. I mean, Why not? Anything worth doing, as they say, is worth doing well.

Congrats! Warning: you have limited control over this. Grandkids often go their own way on what they call you, which is part of the fun.

I managed to hold onto "Granpa" but my wife is "Mimi" for some reason.

I named my maternal grandmater "Gigi" and it stuck. Why that name? Apparently, a visit of my great-grandmother coincided with my hitting a language milestone. Everyone was calling her "G.G." for "Great-Grandma" and I liked how that sounded, and used it on my grandmother, who took a fancy to it. Good luck!

All those "rarely" adjectives and boutique diseases are simply because parasite infections are notoriously difficult to detect, the symptoms are generally vague and mimic many many other diseases, and very often victims are completely asymptomatic. 200 I thought back and forth about the endorsement. ANd what he decided to do was very clever! Where it matters - the battleground states, he removed himself and endorsed Trump. +1. In blue states he remains on the ballot, very likely taking away votes from Ds (because why else would you go third party, but not go Red in a blue state ?). +1 ! Depleting their numbers, perhaps even pushing places we have't seen Red into purplish territory. Double plus good ! He remains on the ballot in Red states. But those are solid. And at the same time , he did not betray his supporters. He suspended. That was some clever electoral calculus he had to devise. His family, which is important to him, will not look kindly. That was a bit of sacrifice. Respect.

In the runup to the Spanish Civil War, the Popular Front basically purged the officer corps, and also moved around commanders they couldn't get rid of. Franco was conservative but in an apolitical way, but they didn't trust him and shipped him out to the Spanish equivalent of BF Egypt, which happened to be within non-stop flight range to Spanish Morocco. Kind of a mistake.

Also banished Emilio Mola to Navarre, where he worked out a deal with the Requetes and help them professionalize their ultra-Catholic militia.

And so when the July Rising happened and then failed and war settled in, Franco could draw upon a huge pool of unemployed officers to flesh out his new divisions.

Hopefully it won't come to that, but it's an interesting parallel, and fully documented in my book.

This was done by a well coordinated petition drive that added it to the November ballot. Much like OH it will be convoluted language where most people will not be able to tell what they are voting on. MT is still red with the exception of the Sodom and Gamorrahs of Missouala and Bozeman. We've absorbed a lot of CA, WA and OR refugees and even though they appear to be conservative the proof as they say will be in the pudding. If this measure passes the individual county results will need to be parsed and an effective strategy devise to counteract what might actually be missionaries not refugees. Ditto with tester if he's reelected.

299 Back in the 50's a Republican named Joseph McCarthy appointed RFK to a subcommittee investigating communist influence. He resigned, did not approve of the methods, but the fact remains. I hope that RFK jr's older brother comes out and says that while he disagrees with his brother, he still loves him. That will shut the rest of the "cousins" and second cousins and second cousin twice removed up. Kennedy is a huge clan. Robert had 11 children.

301 The left uses social shaming because that is what they fear most. They rarely experience physical danger, so unlike conservatives, they don't think about it much. For them the worst thing is to be shunned.

Because they have no moral core, no faith, they are entirely sustained by social hierarchy and their place within it. That is why they are so easy to stampede from one extreme to the next. The value isn't the point, it's the status accrued by upholding that value.

Note the contrast - RFK Jr makes substantive arguments in favor of his opinions and conclusions. His old "friends" have nothing but insults and personal attacks.

There is one of these Proofs of the Existence of God that posits that Reason and Logic are some of the attributes of God and absent a Creator there is no evolutionary explanation for Reason and Logic.

In Romans 1, the idea is taught that as God turns Man over, that Man further alienates himself from the Creator (of Reason and Logic). Empirical evidence shows that the the more one is Turned Over, as in approaching Stage IV Reprobation, they become even more unhinged.

This may explain why the demon possessed are categorically insane - the demons have reached Cast Into Outer Darkness levels of alienation from God.

With this template in mind, it makes the RFK/Trump/Christian/Jew hate far more understandable.

NASA news conference is scheduled for 1 PM ET today, to 'provide status" of the Starliner mission.

A NASA buddy texted me yesterday he received an email stating a decision about the return of Starliner has been made - did not say what the decision is - and will be announced at the news conference. It will be streamed on the NASA Live website.

Bet all your quatloos on the crew remaining on ISS for the next 7 months or so and Starliner commanded to make an autonomous landing in three weeks or so. I don't think NASA will command Starliner to undock before the 'rescue' Dragon is in a nice stable orbit. Or maybe not until Dragon is approaching ISS to dock. During a period between Starliner undock and Dragon docking, the Starliner 2 will not have lifeboat seats.

Gotta go - enjoy your covfefe, everyone!

It is a powerful symbol of our collective desire for change and a repudiation of the status quo that has failed so many hardworking Americans.

362 First a praise-

I am grateful to God that I have the ability to walk and see. Yesterday, spouse and I went early to the local Senior Living place, and an outside area which has a pond and a fountain and turtles and fish is lovely to visit. On the road going through the center at about 7:00 a.m. there was a large blue heron walking across the road very slowly to the pond. We figured out that he must live in one of the townhouses at the Senior Center and was waking up to get his breakfast in the pond. We also saw goldfinches in the meadown.

Afterwards coming home we saw two more herons in our local streams, one white one and another blue one. Being out in nature lifts our spirits and we thank God for His work in nature.

ELECTION INTEGRITY UPDATE: This week, the RNC sued the City of Detroit for violating state law by deliberately failing to hire a sufficient number of GOP election inspectors.

This week, the RNC sued the North Carolina State Board of Elections for ignoring the law and failing to clean up the voter rolls.

During this week’s FL primary, the RNC deployed poll watchers to man over 3,000 shifts covering the entire period from the beginning of early voting until the primary.

Poll watchers caught over 750 issues, including a software problem in Broward County.

GOP lawyers provided rapid responses and resolved all issues in real time.

Election Wizard @ElectionWiz 7m
I’ve been critical of the RNC, but the efforts by the party to proactively protect the vote *before* the election is 1000x better than ever before.

There’s still much work to be done, but you’re a doomer if you think Democrats are going to be able to mass replicate their 2020 “fortification” efforts this time.

Interesting to watch Chevron's reversal undermine all that regulatory law. Actually forcing Congress to legislate rather than delegating it to bureaucrats really undermines the Deep State.

379 And a prayer request which I also put on an earlier thread this week

A friend of mine (P) has a daughter who is getting married today in the RCC church in the town where they live. He is disaffected from the RCC (From bad experiences with nuns, I think and also reading "Jesus Seminar" stuff) but believes in God. but not Jesus and his wife does adult ed at the RCC, so this is sticking point with her. Anyway, I'm asking for blessing upon his daughter and future son in law, V & M, that everyone get back and forth safely and that people at the wedding feel the presence of God and have a lovely time. Thanks so much.

It will be part of it, but not the important part. Although IIRC they only needed something like 60K total votes spread across five cities to defeat the electoral college, which really was brilliant.

I think this time it will involve the House and certification process. There will be no perfectly timed federal op to put the House into emergency session to prevent discussion, so the (D)s will be able to lawfare in that venue as well as locally for as long as they need.

Add to that violence (which is guaranteed) and more shootings of (R) opposition, and they'll have their next stage in place before we know it.

🚨Breaking: Anthony Fauci, former director of the NIAID, is recovering at home after being hospitalized with West Nile virus.

josette caruso @josettecaruso
CNN: Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is recovering at home after being hospitalized with West Nile virus, a spokesperson said.

Fauci, a longtime public health official who became a household name as part of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, is expected to recover fully, the spokesperson said. About 1,000 Americans are hospitalized each year with the most severe form of West Nile virus, which is spread through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Another 1,500, on average, are diagnosed after developing symptoms, although experts estimate that as many of 80% of infections in the US are never identified. There is no vaccine or specific treatment for West Nile. Most cases are mild, causing flu-like symptoms and a rash. In about 1 in 150 cases, the virus invades the brain and nervous system, which can lead to brain swelling, brain damage or death. About 100 people die from West Nile infections in the US each year.

I'm not so certain the pharma folks care that much. It evens the playing field for all drug companies. They'll spend money elsewhere, but only a small percentage of what they formerly spent. If Trump can put political pressure on Congress with a televised promise of lower drug prices for all those Congress critters are gonna feel some heat.

This is Trumps last term in office (if cheat too small) with no way to win reelection. It's legacy time.

For all of the handwringing done here and other places about his choices, I believe he endorsed ronna over Dhillon for RNC chair, so many things have worked in his favor. ronna is gone and the RNC seems to be making strides not seen in awhile with his people in place. The RFK Jr endorsement should pay off and now stein and that other seem to be echoing RFK Jr attacks. The attempted assassination of PDT also opened a few eyes and then PDT pushed for SS coverage for RFK Jr. He's learned that he needs to battle the scum more effectively and with a different strategy then name calling and mean tweets. He tapped Vance who's so much more effective then pence. It's a brand new game coupled with the disfunction of the dem/prog party.

At first I was going to commend her for having the self-awareness to know that she's incapable and didn't earn it.

But then I realized that's probably not it. She was told up until last month that she was awesome and it's everyone elses fault that she's a miserable failure at everything. Except then Trump was shot in the head. And then Biden was forcibly removed from office.

She was almost certainly told outright that she is next if she doesn't dance to the tune. And it probably terrifies her.

If RFK Jr. is merely pissed at the Dems for stabbing him in the back, he would never call them out let alone support Trump.

His allegiance is to the Dem party and the supposed movement it represents. I cannot and do not know what's really in his heart and mind. For him to call them out as the hypocrites and tyrants that they are is kind of a big deal considering his lineage.

This alone is a good thing, regardless of his stance on issues other than speech, big pharma that we do have in common.

Good for him. And we can use even an ally of convenience. Ditto a Tulsi Gabbard.

This is correct, and the stated rationale is that by the time the child grows up enough to engage in sexual contact and IV drug use they child is probably not going to get the vaccine, so this is "preventative"

I have heard the grandfather tales when the family doctor had an office on the street in your own small town, and to visit him you could call the receptionist who would set you up without forcing you to go through multiple levels of voicemail, and have to file online questionnaires and travel to the county seat where his office was near the hospital, and if a boy had gotten a bad cut or a minor broken bone, the doctor would STITCH HIM UP IN HIS OFFICE instead of making the boy sit in the emergency room for three hours next to the tweekers waiting for an empty gurney.
