Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | New Streaming Service Being "Aggressively" Developed by Noted Entertainment Company... Chick-Fil-A?!Via Anonasaurus Wrecks, all I can think of is some combination of the Star Trek replicators -- where you can download a Chick-Fil-A sandwich --and maybe some Smell-O-Vision technology. Chick-Fil-A thinks it has one advantage to overcome its complete lack of experience in streaming or entertainment, period -- a "family-friendly" brand. Certainly a streamer that appeals to traditionalists, Christians, and normies would have very little competition in the leftwing sewers of current streaming content. But -- hasn't Chick-Fil-A substantially pissed away all of its goodwill among traditionalists and Christians with its endless donations to "Pride" organizations? Well, I guess we'll see. Because Deadline says Chick-Fil-A is serious about "hatching" this scheme and that it will soon come home to roost. They made some puns. I forbid you from following in their terrible example. No chicken or bird puns in this thread!Chick-Fil-A is moving aggressively into the entertainment space with plans to launch a slate of originals for its own streaming platform. Deadline understands that the fast-food firm has been working with a number of major production companies, including some of the studios, to create family-friendly shows, particularly in the unscripted space. It is also in talks to license and acquire content. We hear that this includes a family-friendly gameshow from Glassman Media, the company behind NBC's The Wall, and Michael Sugar's Sugar23, which is behind series such as Netflix's 13 Reasons Why. Deadline understands this show has been handed a ten-episode order. Budgets on the unscripted side are believed to be in the range of $400,000 per half-hour. Sources told us the idea is to launch later this year and there's also talk of scripted projects and animation. ... One source told Deadline that it was a positive move for the reality TV industry, which has been struggling in recent years, and another source added it was a good opportunity, comparing it to branded content. No, McDonald's and Burger King could have branded content, but not Chick-Fil-A. Okay that was a dumb pun but no more are allowed. Here are some trailers. I ask the eternal question: Is this something? So we've had 80s nostalgia and then some (but not as much as you'd expect) 90s nostalgia. Now comes a movie with a very specific time-based exploitation: 1999/year 2000 nostalgia, plus a "What if Y2K was a real thing?" Unfortunately, that movie stars Rachel Zegler. Weird, weird! Now I'm rooting for the apocalypse. This is interesting: An anime-styled War of the Rohirrim animated movie. It's the Riders of Rohan, but 260 years before the Lord of the Rings age, when they fought non-magical opponents, the Dunlendings (IIRC). Someone said the Rohirrim are like the Anglo-Saxon Vikings, and the Dunlendings are like the Celts/Britons the Rohirrim conquered. Not sure I want to root for Rohan if that's the case. It's the age of Helm Hammerhand, after whom Helm's Deep is named. I think I've read that Helm Hammerhand was a huge warrior who could punch people to death and who, during sieges, would sneak out alone into the enemy's camp to silently strangle them to death. For some reason... Eowyn is in it? How? The article must be confused about that. I guess they threw in giant elephants and giant eagles because without stuff like that this would be a Medieval fantasy movie without any actual fantasy elements. Caution: Contains a lot of Girlbossing. I'm so tired of Dark and Gritty, but I'm even more exhausted by Fake Dark and Fake Gritty. I was annoyed by this even with the good movie, The Dark Knight. I wondered, in exasperation: Just how seriously am I supposed to take this Batman vs. Joker movie?! If you want absolute, irrefutable proof that Hollywood is officially out of ideas, Behold! I've heard that Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis is an indulgent, baffling, incoherent mess, and yet wildly ambitious and full of spectacle and things that no other movie has ever done. (There may be reasons for that, though...)
I guess Coppola is leaning into that because one of the reviews shown in this trailer is "A beautiful mess." ======== Lionsgate had to pull the trailer from their own Youtube channel (no one else seems to have pulled it) because it's filled with fake quotes from critics. Movie studios want cinematic universes to function like extended tv series that you have to pay a bunch to see every next episode. That was never the actually interesting thing about the concept. The actually interesting thing was the potential to tell a really wide variety of stories without having to do the setup part of the movie every time. War movies set in the real world don't need to explain to the audience every time why the Nazis are the bad guy, but a war movie set in a fictional setting does... unless you are doing it in an established universe lie Star Wars.
But Disney isn't generally interested in telling Quentin Tarantino to make a Quentin Tarantino Movie in the MCU or Christopher Nolan to make a Nolan movie in Star Wars. Which is a shame because some of the best blockbusters since cinematic universes have become a thing are the ones that are not just installments in the series, they're Rogue 1 (Saving Private Ryan in SW), Logan (a western with superheroes), and Deadpool (basically a superior hero parody with the official IP). But the problem with 1917 is that the entire conceit of the film is that it's told in one contiguous shot, and it's not.
Posted by: Thomas Bender at August 22, 2024 05:21 PM (XV/Pl) *************************************** There is one point where the protagonist shoots a German soldier sniping at him from the top floor of a building, then goes up to finish the guy off, but in the process ends up being shot at and falling backwards down a flight of stairs, knocking him unconscious. Even prestige pictures were centered around formula. Truly creative individuals tended to chaffe heavily under studio systems unless they gained unprecedented personal power like a Hitchcock. Hell, Kurosawa complains in his autobiography about how Toho, in the 40s, demanded a sequel to his first film, Sanshuro Sugata, saying that they were only concerned with easy returns, not art. " So if George Bush shows up at DNC, does that mean the old R party is dead and the new one is rising from its ashes?"
It means the DeepState Rs and Ds are uniting "we must defeat The People". Posted by: illiniwek at August 22, 2024 06:14 PM (Cus5s) 465

Swift knows better, Bush will not show up at a D convention. or publicly support a D ticket, and Beyonce...maybe. But she was there on the first night , wasn't she ??

>>> 409 402 So if George Bush shows up at DNC, does that mean the old R party is dead and the new one is rising from its ashes?
Posted by: Chuck Martel at August It means the Bushes have a real case of TDS that will never die. I have NOT forgotten that, in 2016, both the media and the GOP were rooting for Jeb--Jeb!-- to be the front runner in the primaries. Trump knocked him out of the running in the debates by calling him sleepy Jeb, I think. And the Bushes have never forgiven or forgotten. Posted by: LizLem at August 22, 2024 06:16 PM (QAK8m) 475

"Trumps lead just down to 5 in Texas!" twerks the newest go-to lefty site Newsweek.
Yeah, no - Trump wins Texas by well over ten percentage points and everyone knows it but the idiotic dancing and twerking in your face by the left so juvenile, it's as if they can't help themselves...this is a party and a press that barely registers as pre-pubescent minors in their thinking and excitements - it's so embarrassing you want to look away. I recently saw FFC's "Betwixt Now and Sunrise", an FFC re-edit of his "horror" movie "Twixt". It was a mess alright. Not a beautiful mess though, more like a diarrhea squirt in Senile Joe's Depends. I suspect FFC's lost the ability to make a coherent movie and I'm a fan. Pretty pictures though in the trailer. This may be a pretty picture movie but a laughable mess like "Prometheus". Maybe they can tie it into the ALIEN universe(!) Posted by: naturalfake at August 22, 2024 06:27 PM (eDfFs) 483
