Who is protecting the environment during the presidential campaigns?

You have to admit that the DNC is slick. Quite the slick convention they pulled off, with the help of their media colleagues.

You might want to keep track of some of Ace's pieces from yesterday like, The DNC and Its Candidates Have Lied Nonstop. (don't comment on old threads)

In addition to lying about other things, the convention speakers seemed to pretend that the last 3 1/2 years never happened.

Remember that we only have about a month and a half until voting starts in some states.

Don't let the "electricity in the air" at the convention demoralize you.

Batya Ungar-Sargon wrote an interesting piece on the convention speeches, Let Them Eat Joy, The DNC was a convention for the rich with some additional commentary on X:

To the extent that a pitch was made to the American people about what a Harris/Walz administration would look like, it was that it would be filled with the joy of the rich and the famous, of Kerry Washington and Hillary Clinton, JB Pritzker and Michelle Obama, Oprah and Pink.
"To be at the DNC was to be told that to be nostalgic for 2019 grocery prices is to be nostalgic for the Jim Crow South. To long for a time when your dollar stretched much further is to crave bloody, back-alley abortions."

Who is Kamala Harris? What does she plan to do as president? There was gaslighting aplenty as we were reintroduced to a woman we all know, as if she were a blank slate available for projection. Michelle Obama's speech was especially notable on this front:
“[Kamala] understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward,” Michelle Obama said of a woman who dropped out of a primary before a single vote was cast and somehow failed her way to the top of a presidential ticket. “We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth,” Michelle Obama said of a woman whose father and mother had PhDs. “If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead,” the former first lady said of a woman leading a party that just undermined an entire election process to get Joe Biden off the ticket. Not to be outdone, former President Obama spent half his speech demonizing Trump and the other half complaining about polarization.
Every accusation with the Democrats is a confession.

RFK Jr. Addresses the Nation

His words and actions do not always seem wise, but yesterday, RFK Jr. really put a damper on the "vibes election" thing the Democrats had going yesterday.

Here's an excerpt. You can't argue with most of this:

In the name of saving democracy, a Democratic Party set itself to dismantle it. Lacking confidence that its candidate could win a fair election at the voting booth, the DNC waged continual legal warfare against both President Trump and myself. Each time that our volunteers turned in those towering boxes of the signatures needed to get on the ballot the DNC dragged us into court, state after state, attempting to erase their work, and to subvert the will of the voters who had signed those petitions. It deployed DNC-aligned judges to throw me and other candidates off the ballot and to throw President Trump in jail. It ran a sham primary that was rigged to prevent any serious challenge to President Biden. Then, when a predictably awful debate performance precipitated a palace coup against President Biden, the same shadowy DNC operatives appointed his successor, also without an election. They installed a candidate who was so unpopular with voters that she dropped out in 2020 without winning a single delegate.
My uncle and my father both relished debate. They prided themselves on their capacity to go toe to toe with any opponent in a battle of ideas. They would be astonished to learn of a Democratic Party presidential nominee who, like Vice President Harris, has not appeared in a single interview or an unscripted encounter with voters for 35 days. This is profoundly undemocratic. How are people to judge when they don’t know whom they are choosing? And how can this look to the rest of the world?

My father and my uncle were always conscious of America’s image abroad because of our nation’s role as the template for democracy, a role model for democratic processes and the leader of the free world. Instead of showing us her substance and character, the DNC and its media organs engineered a surge of popularity for Vice President Harris based on nothing. No policies, no interviews, no debates, only smoke and mirrors and balloons in a highly-produced circus. There, in Chicago, a string of Democratic speakers mentioned Donald Trump 147 times, just on the first day. Who needs a policy when you have Trump to hate? In contrast, at the RNC convention, President Biden was mentioned only twice in four days.
I do interviews every day. Many of you have interviewed me. Anybody who asks gets to interview me. Some days I do as many as ten. President Trump, who actually was nominated and won an election, also does interviews daily. How did the Democratic Party choose a candidate that has never done an interview or debate during the entire election cycle? We know the answers. It did it by weaponizing the government agencies. It did it abandoning democracy. It did it by suing the opposition, and by disenfranchising American voters.

What most alarms me isn’t how the Democratic Party conducts its internal affairs or runs its candidates. What alarms me is the resort to censorship, media control, and weaponization of the federal agencies. When a U.S. president colludes with, or outright coerces, media companies to censor political speech, it’s an attack on our most sacred right of free expression. And that’s the very right upon which all of our other constitutional rights rest.

I met someone recently just before he and his family were deployed to the Naval Air Station in Bahrain. He seemed ready to go. His daughter was excited that the crown prince of Bahrain attended the same school she would be attending.

I think some of our "allies" are interfering with our ability to use our assets in the area. So I don't know if his deployment is doing the country much good at present.

42 Madamemayhem, I found out years ago the one way to shed all those scam calls is to put your phone out of order for a while.
When I moved last I changed my land line providers, and since Qwest/Century Link are a bunch of top notch A-holes, they delayed the transfer but also put my phone out of order, with an automated notice.
The telemarketers/boiler rooms get phone lists, but if they line is deactivated then they drop the phone number from the rota to call.
It was great, I went from 10 calls a day to none for years.

another option is to put the "doo dee deep" tones of a disconnected phone on your voicemail right at the beginning, followed by "I am screening my calls, I will call you back, leave a message" and that might scrape off a few of the callers.

Well, the autopsy showed the fatal shot (and the rest of the rounds) fired into RFK were all fired from behind.

Sirhan was standing IN FRONT of him. The fatal round was shown to have been fired maybe an inch, possibly less, behind his right ear.

It's impossible for Sirhan to have fired those shots. It's not impossible for Thane Cesar, a security guard with ties to the CIA, who just got a job at the hotel a couple weeks prior, and never worked there again after that night, and who happened to be the only person ever photographed in that room to have a gun in his hand, and also was responsible for leading RFK to a location in the hotel where he was NOT planned to go.... well, I realize to some people I'm just going to sound insane, but there ARE going to be a lots of people over the years who are going to be absolute sure the kid on the roof shot Trump, all by his little lonesome self.

You're absolutely correct. I heard, a few years back (when I would still watch FoxNews for the Tucker hour at least) that even though FoxNews was always in the ratings lead, it was still only getting about 3-4 million views a night, while all the affiliated Pravda networks were getting 70-80 million views a night. You can't overcome that level of imbalance, no matter what.

The state of the American media is outright treasonous. And should be dealt with accordingly.

Beef fat, hog fat, butter, olive, and coconut oil seems to be enough for my purposes. I think peanut oil is OK, although it may be hydrogenated? Like most things, the dose makes the poison.

I like Huberman, he actually teaches and is interested in getting the best information to people, not high level expert masterclasses, but actual users.

Another in the long long list of times when 'the bomber will always get through' mentality has been a disappointment. Air power can be a great aid for helping the infantry take ground and hold it but it isn't going to win a war on its own.
