Is This Something?

Naaaaaah.

If you don't remember the controversy: The Disney remake of Snow White was already in bad odor because the annoying AF actress Rachel Ziegler couldn't stop talking about how awful the original was, being about a girl who loved a boy and everything, and how all modern women only care about "coming into their own power."

Weird, weird!

Then that idiot dwarf actor Peter Dinklage attacked any studio still employing dwarfs to play fairy-tale/Tolkeinesque dwarves. For some reason he is determined to be the only working dwarf actor in Hollywood. Or he wants dwarfs cast to play full-sized people. It's unclear. He's offended, whatever you're doing with dwarfs.

So obviously Woke Disney could not hire dwarfs to play, um, dwarves. (Note the -ves plural ending is one Tolkein popularized. Standard English is just "dwarfs.")

Disney hired a bunch of gangly, tall Diverse SJW actors to play the dwarves "Woodland Spirits." A picture from the shoot leaked:

dwarfleakdisney.jpg

When that leaked -- and everyone ridiculed Woke Disney -- Disney claimed, cagily, that some of the people in the photo were stand-ins, not the actual actors.

Some? Not all? They might just mean the person wearing the red hood, who is not, I believe, the actress playing Snow White.

Why so cagey?

Now it's not impossible that they sent out stand-ins and photographed them with the intention of replacing them with CGI later. Sometimes people will take maquettes, or puppets/sculptures, of CGI characters out into the physical environment to get a good "map" of how the sunlight should look on the CGI character they'll be adding in later.

But... eh, I dunno. Seems if they wanted to do that kind of test they'd have sculptures of the short dwarves, not tall human actors. They'd want to see, for example, how the tall grass looks in relation to a dwarf.

Anyway, some months later, Disney released a very bad looking CGI photo showing the "woodland spirits of short stature" and implied that this had been the plan all along.

fakeassdwarfbitches.jpg

If everything's going to be this obviously fake-looking, why would they even bother doing photography in a real physical environment? Everything on this picture is obviously CGI cartoon bullshit.

Check out Dem CGI Dwarves Woodland Spirits at 21 seconds.

Disney's stock price has now fallen into the $85 range. It had been over $90 a few weeks ago.

In 2022, it was at $192+.

A little scuttlebutt from Disney's annual "D23" convention, where they show off their upcoming duds to idiot adultchildren who pay $1000 to attend. While all other Disney executives came out to plug their offerings in each division, Kathleen Kennedy did not take the stage to announce LucasFilm's upcoming box office bombs. She was entire absent from the production, except to join other LucasFilm people on the stage when John Williams was given some kind of lifetime Disney award.

Why was she absent? Why was she hidin' ?

WDW_Pro and his panelists were speculating about the possibilities. Maybe she knows that the upcoming movies and shows will be, as usual, hot August garbage baking in the smelly sun, and wants to keep herself away from the sink.

Or maybe she feared that, even among a friendly crowd, she might be booed for destroying two major multibillion dollar IPs (plus, Willow).

Valliant Renegade says the only stand-ins in the shot were Snow White (in red) and the Prince (in blue). But Disney couldn't stand the howls of derision it got when the pics surfaced so in a panic, it suggested, "c'mon guys, none of those scruffy but diverse meth addicts are really in the movie. They're just there to, you know, get the lighting right or something! It's a movie-making thing, yo!"

It says it all that Disney later got rid of the Salvation Army crew entirely, switching them out for CGI cartoon dwarfs (which apparently, Dinklage will allow).

In a land of not uniqueness that is Disney regurgitating its own animated legacy for decreasingly relevant hits at the box office, this Snow White thing isn't even that unique.

81 Moana was good- fun story, made for the Polynesian setting and not swiped from another source, family that loved her (even when they didn't see eye-to-eye), male and female protagonists who both developed through the story and were characters you could root for. Not sure, though, why there needs to be a 2.

Rachel Ziegler was fine as the sketchy Lucy Grey Baird in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Definitely not the choice for 'the fairest of them all'.

Posted by: barkingmad59, weird and wandering lurkette at August 12, 2024 04:47 PM (R3yzU)

82 AF actress Rachel Ziegler couldn't stop talking about how awful the original was, being about a girl who loved a boy and everything, and how all modern women only care about "coming into their own power."

Which is kind of the motivation of the evil queen. Yes she goes after Snow White because she is prettier but their is a hinted back story that she's a power mad tyrant. Sorry, a woman that came into her own power

Then she comes back to you months later, saying nothing new, with what looks like a basic fast food hamburger in-hand, and plops it in front of you. What are the chances you'll sink your teeth into it?

I'm told it's done by the guy did the newest Evil Dead movie, which I really liked.

But the preview is mediocre. It looks like a mash-up of things already done in the prior movies. Except this time with a cast of beige metrosexuals who left their jobs as baristas to fare the stars.

The original Alien: it looked and felt like a blue-collar space crew, on a vessel that looked lived in and used. The new preview lacks all of that authenticity.

The soundtrack suggested a Beyoncé concert. The light-up bracelets evoked the Eras Tour. And the exuberant crowd—more than 14,000 strong, lining up in the rain—resembled the early days of Barack Obama. Inside a Philadelphia arena on Aug. 6, Vice President Kamala Harris was greeted with a kind of reception a Democratic presidential candidate hasn’t gotten in years. Fans packed into overflow spaces, waving homemade signs made of glitter and glue as drumlines roared. When Harris introduced her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the cheering lasted more than a minute.

Suddenly, she seems matched to the moment: a former prosecutor running against a convicted felon, a defender of abortion rights running against the man who helped overturn Roe v. Wade, a next-generation Democrat running against a 78-year-old Republican.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at August 12, 2024 04:36 PM (dTTBf)

About the same as doing anything well - know what you want to do and how to achieve it.

Rumors say that in a lot of these recent movies a major issue is that the filmmakers just expect CGI to do all the work and be redone when scripts are revised endlessly. So what you see is the result of dozens of redos on tight deadlines, even within days of release.

When Jackson was making LOTRO he used any technique that would work - doubles, perspective tables and carts to make actors look small in proportion, models paired with limited CGI. And what they did do they took their time on .. the Gollum effects had more than a year to get worked out.

So the UK is a blessing brought to their front door. There is likely to be a strong overlap between people who don't need the prompting of the mass media to get concerned about something so are concerned about the tyranny of the UK and the people in America they really hate.

So, it's conceivable that the DC politburo will enthusiastically hand us over to UK extradition.

We are surrounded by Modern Puritans. New Age Southern Baptists run amok.

Until you're willing to fight them in the parking lot - and you're not - the only logical response is to let them shit on whatever they want to shit on ... as long as it isn't your personal property or self ... and resign to doing without what they shit on until enough Normies get tired of those things getting shit on.

For a plus - at this point ? Shout down the folks that insist you clean up the shit. Hold the rope. Those people truly are your biggest problem right now. You have to beat them before you can beat the Modern Puritans.

I'd be delighted to name names.

There's some supposedly cool surprises that they're trying to keep secret.

I saw a hint of one of them on the Japanese trailer and it does indeed look very very cool.

I suggest you don't look and let it catch you by surprise. In all honesty, I'm sorry I saw it. But, is a great extension of the original ALIEN.

I just watched this this weekend. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it either.

It's a Guy Ritchie film, but without much in the way of his cleverness.

By being excessively jocular/jokey, it sort of diminishes the accomplishments of the actual men, even though it was obviously intended as something like a love letter. They never really seemed as if they were in harm's way. It was just all so easy. Kind of superhero-like.

I took one for the team three years ago. The big problem is, their "immersion" totally sucks now.

You don't have the random Stormtrooper in the Star Wars streets - and you can see where they built the sets and stuff to have platforms and shit constantly doing a show - but they were empty.

Was like that through the entire park.

296 Also watched a couple of Australian series that feel original. Because the actors are unfamiliar, it is easier to just get into the story. The Tourist is the first one I found. Starts out, a guy is in a car accident and when he wakes up, has no memory of why he was where he was when the accident took place. No ID. Is he a good guy or a bad guy. Lots of twists.
The one I watched recently is Troppo. Thomas Jane is in it playing a former police officer arrested for a crime he didn't commit and gets off but everyone thinks he did it anyways. The acting is fantastic especially Nicole Chamoun.

For dumbshit Kathleen Kennedy

I was watching the end of "Seabiscuit" the other day on Pluto, and Kathleen Kennedy was, of course, one of the producers of the movie. Very good movie, very successful at the Box Office (As I remember).
She has limited talent, when closely supervised. As most Hollywood personalities, they are a lot dumber on close inspection than they think they are.
In retrospect, most movies are pretty dumb. For some reason, my wife was watching "Staying Alive" last night, the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever". Both now look like exceedingly dumb movies, but "Staying Alive" was really bad.
Kathleen Kennedy gets away with this at Disney because, frankly, nobody now knows good from bad, or Shit from Shinola. Does it check the right boxes? Is it politically correct? Does it reflect "DEI"?
If so, advance to "Go!" and collect $10 million. Or something like that.

327 Tolkien dwarves are big, powerful men with short legs.

Bing !!! In the Peter Jackson treatment - I could envision camping and fighting with every one of them in the original group. And reading the book - the conflicts even amongst the allies were intriguing at some points and obvious in the others.

It was a stew. Hollywood can't do that anymore - because they're so fucking worried somebody will be offended at the fallen king that they can't write a story about it.

In all fairness - folks here still hate my viewing of Man Who Shot Liberty Valence - because I absolutely detested everything about Jimmy Stewart's character.
