Walz's Former Superior: Yes, Walz Quit Because His Unit Was Deploying to Iraq, and He Went Over My Head to Get Someone to Approve the Breaking of His Contract

More of that Stolen Valor Garbage.

According to Walz's Command Sergeant Major, Walz had signed a six year contract when he re-upped in the National Guard in 2000. When he was notified that his unit would be mobilized for Iraq, he put in for retirement, despite having two years left to serve on his contract.

His superior denied his request -- so Walz went up to two levels of command above to get someone to grant his quickie retirement (and breaking of his contract).

Why would someone let him out of the contract?

I don't know, but remember, in 2004-2006, the Democrats' big plan for defeating Bush and the Republicans was to recruit lots of people who could claim a military background, so they could challenge the Republicans' notions of patriotism.

And it just so happened that as soon as this coward was let out, he declared he was running for Congress.

Did that motivate a politically-minded superior to give him a Get Out of War Free pass?

Watching this CNN cow fight this guy on every single noun and verb is a chore.

She just keeps insisting he "had a right to retire" despite being under contract -- and despite there being a Stop-Loss order throughout the military blocking people from retiring.

COATES: Is your concern that it's -- oh, go ahead. I do want to ask this question quickly, Sergeant Major, and I appreciate your time, but is your -- [crosstalk] -- concern about the manner in which he did not speak to you or his decision to retire, which he, as we've talked about, he would have been entitled to do, which causes the most concern? Because that is the focus that so many people are wondering about, whether he has done something wrong in service or done something personally to offend you.

JULIN: No, he did something wrong in service, as I stated before. He knew the policies and procedures and how we go to leadership and address issues or discuss issues and concerns out there. Again, backing up, he had told me, no, I'm going forward, we're going to go with the battalion, and go from there. So, I'm under the believing, he told me he was going forward. I'm underneath that believing that he's going forward. He went around me, which he should have addressed it with me so he could help me with some things out there.

COATES: Sergeant Major, this was really -- excuse me, I don't want to cut you off, sir. Finish your point, please, Sergeant Major.

JULIN: He went around me. And the fact is that there's a possibility he probably would have realized. I would have probably said, no, it's too late, you're going forward, because we'd already received our notification of sourcing. And there's one other little point out there that people say, well, he hadn't been notified yet. Yes, he had been notified.

Now, there's another step out there. It is what's called stop loss. Ninety days prior to the actual deployment, we received our orders. And at that time is what's called stop loss, where if you're in a position, you're going forward irregardless, unless there's some really major or process --

COATES: Hmm, okay.

JULIN: -- that gets you out from not going on the deployment itself. So, there's that window of opportunity there. People say, well, he never knew he was going forward. Yeah, he knew he was going forward. Had he gotten his orders yet? No. At that time, he had not.

He has repeatedly insisted he served in either Iraq or Afghanistan (or both):

Possibly, but I think more probably is the higher-ups either were happy to have Walz gone (he was dogshit, an occasional drunken driver, and not liked by anyone) and/or figured he was just the sort of cringey shitass who would make a stink about not being allowed to retire. So they were like "good riddance."

Posted by: Tech Sgt. Chen at August 12, 2024 03:31 PM (Z8Yh2)

60 Here's the dirty secret of the military right after 9/11.

They didn't have enough people to fight the Afghan war, let alone the follow on Iraq war, so they were stretching the "all volunteer" military more than it was ever supposed to be stretched.

Again, LTs who knew how to use a gun were pulled onto gate guard duty (you know, checking for bombs, weapons, and crazy folks trying to enter a base) while all the gate guards, b/c they were actually security police trained, were getting pulled overseas on multiple deployments year after year.

National Guard Field Artillery units were being retrained to serve as gate guard duty/infantry so the wild hole of having untrained LTs as the main forward group for morning gate duty could be taken over by someone actually trained for the job - none of those folks expected those missions, but state guards started with European gate guard duty and then continued to get deployed higher and higher as wars went on...

So, I don't fault him leaving for what he didn't sign up for in 2000. I fault him for lying about who he was and what he did. Own that it sucked, you were getting screwed, and you left. Don't lie and steal valor.

5. Quitting on his men after getting notice of deployment to Iraq...

He did seem to deploy the 1st time, for European gate guard duty, after 9/11. He was not up for almost an immediate follow on deployment after coming back from the 1st.

I think we need to be honest about his shortcomings - the lying and stolen valor are the big problem...and are what non-military folks can grasp as the problem. Getting into a "he didn't deploy enough" argument is the non-winner, at least for swing voters (Trump has alpha males locked up already)...

157 As a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer you never quit on your troops, this guy quit and let his troops deploy to an active combat zone. To me and all other senior enlisted people that is unforgivable. He is a coward and needs to be called that over and over.
Posted by: Mister Scott (Formerly GWS) at August 12, 2024 03:35 PM (QNSds)

He did seem to deploy the 1st time, for European gate guard duty, after 9/11. He was not up for almost an immediate follow on deployment after coming back from the 1st.

I think we need to be honest about his shortcomings - the lying and stolen valor are the big problem...and are what non-military folks can grasp as the problem. Getting into a "he didn't deploy enough" argument is the non-winner, at least for swing voters (Trump has alpha males locked up already)...

Posted by: Nova Local at August 12, 2024 03:39 PM

That was not my point, he knew his unit was going to be activated to deploy to Iraq and he quit. This isn't about he didn't deploy enough. He went outside the chain of command to put in his papers, he didn't even tell his unit he was retiring.

WISCONSIN

🟦 Harris: 48%
🟥 Trump: 43%

PENNSYLVANIA
🟦 Harris: 49%
🟥 Trump: 45%

@BullfinchGroup | 1,500 LV | 8/8-11

a few weeks ago numbers like this in the opposite directon caused Joe Biden to withdraw from the race. These back up the NY Time Sienna polling we just saw showing Harris +4 in each of these 3 states.

there was a prominent pollster who had Trump in MI +7 right before Joe withdrew, I think that poll was a big contributor to Biden's decision. And of course there is internal polling that the party has that shows these trends too.

This has been a decidedly poor summer for Mr. trump. His campaign lack any real vim or vigor, while his base has become an actual laughing stock in national discourse

Looking at the details in the poll, I couldn't see the party weight/breakdown, but there were several questions on which party and candidate was more "weird". It was Trump and republicans, by a slight margin lol

Posted by: Marcus T at August 12, 2024 03:40 PM (GMR//)

Having been one standing there on gate guard duty (obviously not what I signed up for), I know how folks felt on both sides. Stretched thin was an understatement for the military after 9/11, at least from a personnel standpoint. The continual year after year requests for call ups for active, reserve, and guard were a ton - and you were called up pretty green and pretty untrained, just b/c they needed somebody, anybody. And so I fault no one with a family who said "no more" - the military was literally saying at the time that families were kinda a problem b/c you didn't have folks wanting to deploy year after year if they had them...and you weren't getting paid for it. When my spouse deployed, he made less than he made at work...and the military didn't cover any difference.

What is polling supposed to measure?

I honestly don't know anymore.

1.7 million ballots in GA in 2020 without images. Arguably, that means that 1/3 of GA's 5 million ballots were fraudulent.

How do you poll an election where 1/3 of ballots can be fraudulent?

---------

Whose fucking fault is that? How about educating people how the real world actually works? No offense, but this is retarded thinking. People are conditioned to accept this, because it is all they have ever known. Failure theater and surrender.

The military is about leadership and setting the example. Especially true for the NCO corps. The military is not like Hollywood. Most people hardly ever even see officers, much less high ranking ones.

Military deals almost exclusively with NCOs, and a Command Sergeant Major is a big deal. I've heard, I don't know how true it is, but the frigging unit Chaplain is on public record calling this guy a POS, or near enough. If true, there must be way more stuff like that where this came from. It takes special effort to get disinterested people to come out of the woodwork and say things like that.

Most everybody I knew in the .mil were decent, very decent people. There were a couple douche bags though, that would raise eyebrows if tapped for higher office.

Let's see all of his NCO evaluation reports.

I honestly don't know anymore.

1.7 million ballots in GA in 2020 without images. Arguably, that means that 1/3 of GA's 5 million ballots were fraudulent.

How do you poll an election where 1/3 of ballots can be fraudulent?

There's no faith in the integrity of the system, and that state of affairs can't continue. I think it began in 1993 with the National Voter Registration Act which was designed to ensure Democrat hegemony. California hasn't really been close to being in play since then. It's the foundation of the Blue Wall.

But we did get a 5.4 a couple years back and that rattled the glasses in the wet bar downstairs and made the upstairs water heater wobble to a disturbing extent.

We moved away from there. Now in Tennessee, we deal with things like having to repair a roof leak and finding out it was because someone fired a gun from some distance away and the bullet punched a hole in the shingle. At least it didn't come through the bedroom window.

301 "Going up two levels of command" suggests that he went all the way to the State Adjutant General level. The State AG is selected by the Governor. But the Governor at that time was Tim Pawlenty (R) and it's unlikely he wanted to help Walz run for Congress. This doesn't rule out Democrat political meddling or pressure, but it would have been more indirect, perhaps camouflaged as "constituent services" by Dems in the legislature.

Coincidentally (?) the State AG was a teacher in civilian life. He even had a Ph.D. in Education. So Walz may have leveraged some connections from that realm as well.

We can't really know unless someone gets Minnesota to release all the relevant records, correspondence, etc.

Besides, Biden was losing before the debate when he was sharp as a tack.

368 Governor Tim Walz
September 11, 2021; Minnesota State Capitol

And I think of all those emotions I went through when our country was attacked: 374 Minnesota in the Global War on Terrorism fear, anger, confusion, hope, pride, a desire for revenge, guilt. As for me, I was sitting in room 114 at Mankato West High School right before school started. And in a typical high school, there was the noise in the halls, and it was a new school year. But then kids started coming in and sitting in classrooms and the TV was on, and those events started to unfold, and that room got fuller and quieter and there were tears and fear and confusion.
In the years after that classroom, I had the privilege of serving in this state's national guard. I stood one night in the dark of night on the tarmac at Bagram Air Base in Iraq and watched a military ramp ceremony--a soldier’s body being loaded onto a plane to be returned home. And if you've seen it, you don't leave the same. It makes you wonder, what are we doing? What are we trying to get to? And then watching as all of you have been, the confusing last few weeks with the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

380 A few points about polls:

1. Biden's mental issues were apparent before the debate. It didn't seem to have much effect on the polls. After the debate, Democratic elites/the press gave cues to their voters that he was losing it. So his polls dropped a bit, although they probably would have recovered. But if the debate had happened after the convention, the Democrats would have circled the wagons around Biden.

2. I suspect we are seeing some response bias, where Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents are more likely to respond to polls. So the samples are unrepresentative. I would add that the Democrats have tended to poll better in early August than they end up doing in the election, in each election going back to 2004. (Happy to be corrected; this is from looking at RCP.)

3. In both 2016 and 2020, Trump generally overperformed the polls. Indeed, the polling errors in 2020 were bigger than 2016, but nobody noticed because they "correctly" predicted the winner.

4. Harris wanting to be a blank state is fine. That means the GOP has to define her by running ads explaining how left-wing she is. So she either says nothing or has to explain her views. Explaining is losing.

That implies one played in the Super Bowl, but in reality, he was a high school bench warmer, and went to a Super Bowl as a spectator with a ticket."

Dems have perfected this for some time.

Back when gay marriage was on the Virginia ballot, a local activist D couple was out front for the party, loud and proud about their 25 year standing as a couple, and how they lived love is love.

Well, they did, and were in fact a couple of 25 years' standing.
They just neglected to mention that they had moved from MD two years previously, when their son went off to college, so the wife could transition in a new setting.

"We are a gay couple COMMA of 25 years' standing..."

On August 8, the State Fair of Texas announced that it is changing its weapons policy to prohibit attendees from exercising their Right-to-Carry at the event. A press release noted:

As a private not-for-profit organization, the State Fair of Texas prohibits fairgoers from carrying all firearms, knives that are prohibited according to state law, clubs, explosive devices, ammunition, chemical dispensing devices, replicas or hoaxes, or other weapons of any kind. This includes Holders of a License to Carry, Constitutional Carry, Concealed Carry, and the Open Carry of firearms anywhere on the fairgrounds including Cotton Bowl Stadium.

The item also warned: Guests will be channeled through weapons detection technology which screens for dangerous weapons in the presence of a licensed and trained security officer.

439 The State Fair of Texas' move does raise serious questions about the legality of firearms on government property. As the State Fair noted in the press release, it is a private not-for-profit entity. But the City of Dallas owns Fair Park, which it leases to the State Fair to operate the fair. The big question is if this lease allows the State Fair to enact a policy the City of Dallas is allowed to implement. These questions are being considered, scrutinized, and discussed by attorneys.

You'd better believe it, that's the goal. I believe the goal is to make things so bad that everyone will be clamoring for the totalitarians to save them. That's their historic m.o.

484 Tip income would still be subject to FICA tax and reported/counted for SS eligibility. It just wouldn't be subject to Federal income tax.

Not unless they rewrite the entire tax code it won't. We discussed this very thing here last week.

Everybody seems to miss the real point: waiting tables was never expected to be a lifetime career, save for a very few high-end dining places. It was a part-time job for students, or an entry-level job for new participants in the work force. Smart people will bank some of that untaxed tip money, and stupid people will blow it, same as it ever was.

486 I believe the Dems would have just "found" 45,001 more votes for Biden. Trump won 2020 in a landslide if you only count legitimate ballots.

Posted by: Emmie at August 12, 2024 04:42 PM (Sf2cq)

Pennsylvania, to me, was the biggest clue. I went to bed, after a little back of the envelope math - telling the clueless wife "Trump won this. He won Pennsylvania. All those mail in ballots didn't go 5-1 for Trump."

They did, supposedly. While that fat, wild eye guy on TV is threatening camera crews and putting up butcher paper on the windows to the counting room.

487 West Virginia - as I've read the history - just kind of "did it".
Posted by: The Way It Is at August 12, 2024 04:43 PM (Fu9MX)

West Va had been totally screwed for years by the tidewater area before the CW. They never reapportioned since 1810 or so, so everything past teh Blue Ridge had no voice in state government, pretty much.

That's pretty much the same period when the Midwest like Ohio and IL when from zero people to some of the most populous states in the Union.

Oh, I would never confuse the two. But Marx is *dumb* theory

Let's say that property is the "objectifier" (my term not Marx's) of our society.

But when we have a Maoist revolution, struggle sessions are *much more* dehumanizing/objectifying.

As are being sent to the Gulag for having the wrong ideas. Or for expressing "counter-revolutionary ideas", which these Rousseauan-Marxian revolutions have prosecuted since the Jacobins.

Can you imagine anything more objectifying than "Hey you sound kinda like a counter-revolutionary. Your life is forfeit; we're chopping off your head!"

People can be clever and yet not know much about what they are talking about. Manipulation is like that. The manipulator is cunning enough about human nature and human reactions, but their theoretical ceilings aren't that high, and they might even dabble in "moral theory", but you can't separate that from their cunning.

Ha! Know DLI well, went to the Monterey Institute of Int'l Studies and many of my teachers were DLI 'borrows' - most of the foreign language teachers as at the time we were a grooming school for CIA and UN translators, etc.

It will be a different set of totalitarians that "save" them. The Weimars didn't get replaced by elites in the Weimar republic, it got replaced by thugs and antisemites.

Same with revolutionaries in Russia, France. The ones who bring down the state get purged.

Of course with history teaching so bad, they may not know this.

Because Ideology is largely wish-casting. It's not real, and trying to stick to something that is hoped for but not real, is similar to how we get Lysenkoism.

Lysenko actually thought that the view of nature was captive of the Capitalist or Royalist hierarchical societies that passed it on. And was trying to find correlations to Marxism in Nature!

I really don't. And I've read enough, and seen enough, to argue this loud.

They don't "think" anything. They do this in the blind, on faith, with not a fucking care about how it actually works - because it's "right".

In a lot of ways, they remind me of my Evangelical Southern Baptist (but I repeat myself) grandmother. Who was the biggest tyranny of the well intentioned person I ever knew.

Until I started traveling - and started discovering real live people from the north-east. Then I learned that the shit about Quakers in history books from the settlement of the Colonies was still alive and well.

499 But they *do* think. That's why we sit here and complain about corrupt election boards and mail-in ballots and a corrupt DHS and a corrupt Pravda media and a corrupt teachers' union.

They're not smart. They do these things because they have no opposition party - yet we still rally around the party that won't oppose them.

And "we" - and I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about you - still are caught in this stupid circle where they're a cancer yet we simply won't let everything the touch die. Because we can't stand of letting those things die.

They shit on everything, we don't have the will to stop them from shitting, so we settle for going behind them trying to scoop the shit.

CAP 20 (Center for American Progress), Article, Jul 17, 2024, 'Sen. Ted Cruz’s No Tax on Tips Act Does Little for Low- and Moderate-Wage Workers But Opens Door to Tax Abuse by Wealthy'

It begins, "This legislation may sound like pro-worker tax reform, but it’s just more of the 2017* tax law’s empty promises for workers and giveaways for the wealthy."
