Democrats Boot Cori Bush Out of Office

She lost her primary. She'll serve until January before she gets back to her real business, hardcore racial grift fundraising.

Missouri Democratic Rep. Cori Bush has lost renomination in Missouri's 1st congressional district to St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell, marking the second loss for a member of the far-left "Squad" in Democratic primaries this year.

Key Details:

Bush lost to Bell by a 5.3 percentage point margin, with Bell leading 51% to 45.7% after 94% of votes were counted.

Bush's defeat follows fellow "Squad" member Rep. Jamaal Bowman's loss in New York's 16th District Democratic primary in June.

Bush's criticism of Israel was a central issue in the race with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee spending nearly $9 million to support Bell and unseat Bush.

Ilhan Omar is also facing a primary challenger this coming Tuesday.

Representative Ilhan Omar's Democratic challenger has sent her a warning after a fellow "Squad" member, Congresswoman Cori Bush, failed to be reelected to her district for a third term in this year's primaries.

...

Following the result, challengers to other members of the progressive group of Democrats issued warnings, including Don Samuels, who is running against Omar in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District.

"Congratulations, Wesley! It's clear that Democrats around the country are ready to move on from those who put politics above the people. In just one week, MN CD5 has the opportunity to do the same. To everyone in Minneapolis and the suburbs, I hope to earn your support," Samuels wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

...

Squad members are battling to keep their seats as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and the United Democracy Project spend large amounts of money to defeat them over their criticism of Israel amid the war in Gaza.

...

Though Omar has expressed similar views [similar to Bush's and Bowman's] about the Israel-Hamas war, AIPAC and UDP have largely stayed out of her primary race. Omar has significantly outraised Samuels, entering July with $1.8 million cash on hand after raising $1.6 million in the second quarter of the year, her campaign announced. Samuels entered the same period with just over $334,000 cash on hand and raised $535,000 in the second quarter, his campaign said.

Polls have shown that Omar is ahead of her opponent in the primary race, with a Lake Research Partners survey conducted between July 17 and 21 showing her with 60 percent support to Samuels' 33 percent. A Victoria Research and Consulting poll from February put the congresswoman at 49 percent to her opponent's 30 percent.

Meanwhile, Samuels has had to answer for remarks he made about Omar's appearance and for calling her a "pawn for Hamas," which the Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned.

Oh well, if CAIR "condemned" it, then...

Samuels' campaign said it had met with pro-Israel advocacy groups, including AIPAC, and that there was still time for them to step in and help. He added that their lack of support showed they had misread the district.

Minnesota is an open primary state so if you're, sadly, a Republican in this brother-marrying Hamas fiend's district, make sure to vote for her primary opponent.

I kind of think they have. In the old days, people were bribed with whiskey, money, and patronage. Opponents were condemned for every possible sin. And yes, some did things which were aimed at breaking up the country.

I loathe how certain rich people and organizations can pump in obscene amounts of money into a campaign.

support from pro fascist regime money doesn't sit well with me. I don’t like the idea of an interest group for a foreign country can spend a lot of money to influence our elections. That opens us up to interference by Russia, China, Iran, etc.

Sounds like Bell has some honesty issues. Leaked audio confirmed that Bell had previously told Bush he would not run against her. "Don't even think for even a second that that's the case," Bell told Bush. "And I'm telling you right now. I'm telling you on my word I am not running against you. That is not happening."

Funny thing is, the other cat (who thankfully wears a bell on a collar) still likes to come over every so often though I just leave him treats rather than interact with him. 166 “ I've seen it suggested that Kamala is being sacrificed for the down ticket, but I'm not sure how that works. If the top of your ticket is an unabashed disaster, how does that preserve other seats?”

It’s all about turnout and the thing that really scared Democrats were the models showing that with Biden, they were giving up just about every competitive senate seat. With Kamala, it shows higher turnout from the base, which helps the typically smaller margins by which some of those senate seats are typically decided. However, it is not enough to gain the margins for a presidential race, especially when you look at the EV game. That’s the thinking anyway. The end goal is to stem the bleeding from a Republican candidate in by keeping the senate and preventing any of the agenda from passing.

Posted by: Archimedes

If they choose milquetoast, middle of the road losers (like Romney), the base doesn't turn out, and the middle doesn't care. They lose badly, up and down the ballot.

If they pick more radical, leftist candidates, the base is mobilized, and some LIVs will get roped in through osmosis and party energy. They lose the overall ticket, but more people go to the polls, and many might split their tickets to "balance" federal government. R president, Dem Congress. Or, maybe they think Kamala is too extreme, but she's shifted the Overton window enough that the chameleon Dem Congressional candidate in the district seems "moderate".

187 It’s all about turnout and the thing that really scared Democrats were the models showing that with Biden, they were giving up just about every competitive senate seat. With Kamala, it shows higher turnout from the base, which helps the typically smaller margins by which some of those senate seats are typically decided. However, it is not enough to gain the margins for a presidential race, especially when you look at the EV game. That’s the thinking anyway.

Right, but in that case, why pick Walz? The guy is a joke, and he's going to help her competitiveness? I don't see it.

The rumor is that most competitive candidates want to stay out until the next general election. Some also believe the DNC, as they have done here with Bush, want to drive the most extreme elements from the party. That’s why they are delighted with the Walz pick. You could fill a thimble with what they know about fascism--or maybe at least most of a thimble.

The thing is that it has the commie traces of Uncle Joe Stalin's claim that he was mainly "fighting fascism", which he defined, pretty much, as people who don't like Marx.

But in terms of the ideological fascists that's like calling Marxists people who didn't like Rousseau. I now see that Rousseau is the actual event, and Marx a variation on Rousseau, as the target audience of revolutionaries was largely the remnants of France's Jacobins.

They only have a who-it-affects-me view of fascism. The order that fascism introduced, as part of its ideological takeover repudiated some of the larger excesses of the radical Weimar era.

And because it curtailed that "progress", all conservative impulses fell under the rhetorical rubric of a transformative ideology that wasn't fully Marxist.

405 A New York dairy farmer sent President Jackson an interesting gift: a 1,400-pound cheese. Jackson left it in the Entrance Hall of the White House to age for two years. In 1837 the President invited the public to come and eat it. The cheese was gone in two hours, but the stain and smell in the Entrance Hall lasted for a long while.

Rules on enlisted promotions and military education have changed over the years. I'm guessing he was promoted to Sergeant Major, on the condition he completed the Sergeants-Major Academy within three years. He intended to, but, when his unit was selected to deploy, instead dropped his retirement papers to dodge deployment. So, he was administratively reduced back to E8/Master Sergeant, but technically did hold the E9/Sergeant Major rank.

Just an educated guess...haven't seen an objective, trustworthy summation of all the facts.

It sounds to me as if you may be thinking that Bell's predecessor was Kim Gardner. Gardner was elected in the City of STL, & Bell in STL County-- two separate counties (The City is treated as if it were a county in MO.)

Bell's predecessor was a conservative white lawyer named Bob McCulloch, whom Bell defeated-- with a lot of help from Soros. During a lengthy career as the elected prosecutor in STL County, not a whiff of scandal ever attached to McCulloch. None.

But the part where the cheese started rotting, cause he wasn't sure how to get rid of it and the stink could be smelled around DC is the best part.
